Boating, driving, and on-the-job fails videos are my one low-life guilty pleasure.
I totally understand the fun of watching somebody else’s slow-mo train wreck. As long as nobody is being seriously injured or killed.

Ah yes, the Good Friday tornado. We lived in Overland then, so that one wasn’t too far away from our house.
We weren’t home; we were singing a Good Friday service. When the sirens went off, instead of sheltering, we just repitched the a capella anthem we were singing to tune with the sirens.
I was laoding today. Except. I was on the Table for 20minutes before they gave me a set, then they sent be back to the table after 20 minutes. 2 hours later I was sent to load a completely different set, since at some point they had pulled that loader. So I was a tad miffed about the whole thing.
The phrase “My clowns are about to lay eggs” is much less terrifying if you know your co-worker has a saltwater aquarium.
Pairs well with gagh.
Awww. I’m sorry.
Successful shopping errand! I went to Lowes first and got one each of their basket/flats (12 plants) of white petunias and assorted coleus.
I wanted colorful petunias but all they had in the 12-pack was white. Whatevs. Last year I mixed petunias and coleus in the same planter, but this year, they’re segregated. Because I’m all unpredictable like that! Anyway, now when I look out the window, I don’t see dry, empty planters.
The carts at Aldi were a hot mess - I suspect someone went there overnight and rammed them together and nothing I could do would separate them. So I got one from a couple unloading into their car, and I gave mine to a woman after I loaded my car. I meant to mention it to someone inside, but I was on a mission and wanted to get done. I’m sure someone else told them.
Oh yeah, while I was planting, I dropped the hose and the nozzle landed on its handle, soaking my t-shirt. It’s much too chilly, especially in the shade, to be wet outside. Dammit. The old hose is really stiff and it won’t lie flat so I had to rassle it just to water the planters. I hate to buy a new one, but this one also has a small hole in it. Guess I need to bite the proverbial bullet.
So that’s my morning so far. Still haven’t ventured into the basement. I’m such a bum…
Happy Tuesday all. I took today as a random vacation day and so far have done nothing other than start the dishwasher, entertain the feline overlords, and get caught up here. Not a bad day at all… I will go out at some point and clean up some small tree limbs that got knocked down. Yesterday afternoon saw a mess of storms, though they all went east of me. Didn’t even get any rain but did get some 60 mph gusts which beat the trees up a bit.
Happy belated birthday taters!
sticky buns so sorry to hear about your teeth. It is criminal how much it can cost for dental work.
Van Gogh I hope they can find the funding to keep you on. You need to catch a break, and it sounds like the museum truly needs you.
{{nellie}} We’re here if talking about it helps
Agreed, that’s generally when you need to be in your fraidy hole or within arm’s reach. I am jealous of how widespread basements are in the St Louis area - they just aren’t a thing in Oklahoma.
When (if?) I buy a house again, I want to get an above-ground shelter installed. No stairs to navigate since I’m somehow not getting any younger, and supposedly they attract less creepy crawlies than the traditional in-ground shelters.
cookie that sounds like some prime entertainment!
The truck driver is still down there, but instead of walking down the street a ways and pulling one of the turn signs over to divert cars, he just sits there while cars continue to pile up behind him and then have to all back down the road slowly to reach a point where they can divert. The wife called the cops, but so far they’re a no-show. Some earlier drivers moved sidewalk barricades and drove over the sidewalk to bypass the truck.
Afternoon all. Went car…well, not shopping yet, more eyeballing the vehicles (and the prices). Somewhat torn; I really had my heart set on a Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid, but can’t find one in the area to test; heck, the two dealerships near me have a grand total of 5 gas-driven Highlanders on their lots total. The Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid is a nice car with enough (albeit less than I have now) space and 36mpg, but I really like the Hyundai Palisade’s looks, but they won’t have it as a Hybrid until the 2026 models (5-7 months from now). So I’m torn on what to do. Will keep researching and maybe do a test drive or two.
Since I was nearby and had missed my usual Sunday dining experience, I stopped by Swampy’s favorite hog trough, had a 3-course meal (salad/soup/pot roast with rice and cake/pecan pie) for under $17. Am now home and stuffed, should be heading for the gym but may put that off until the evening, a rare afternoon nap is looking pretty good right now. 82F outside and a fairly high chance of rain tonight.
cookie. long as you are not the reason for it or can’t be of assistance in curing it, watching the FUBAR occur can be a good experience. I suppose law enforcement of some type will stop by soon.
FCM, you:
So you are not practicing DEI?
And does sound like a new hose may be in your immediate future.
52, good to see ya around. Sounds like the whole of Mumperhood is having some bad weather times; we ought to get together to sing “Stormy Weather”…
And some RDOS nappage may occur shortly. Take care all.
Given the above
Seems like a pretty good description of your management there.
You have such a way with words. You shoulda been an online writer. … Oh … wait.
Well, at long last a very large tow truck arrived, unreeled some cable and dragged the tractor-trailer out of the hole it was in. It looked to me like he had run over one of the metal directional signs and his tires couldn’t get a purchase on it. Anyway, drama over.
It was great while it was going on, LOL!
We used to live in a little town that only had one road leading in and out. Every so often a semi-truck driver would turn off into our little town by mistake and then try to make a u-turn on the very narrow road (instead of listening to the locals who try to tell them to just keep driving forward and the road would turn around and go out again in a couple of miles).
Folks would gather around and point and laugh while loudly wondering when the driver is going to be fired and how much the tow would cost. (Many of them were angry because the inconsiderate driver had the road blocked and nobody could get in or out until it was moved.)
Sounds like a great day off to me! I hope it continues and am glad you haven’t blown away.
I did a moon garden one year, it was very romantic in a goth/Victorian way. It wasn’t easy because I couldn’t get all white packs and had to buy more plants than I needed.
Happily, I was able to take them to work and leave them in the break room. They all went away by the second day.
Your planters already look nice, I’m sure they will look great in a couple of weeks.
I found Reddit for the cat pictures, stayed for the needlepoint discussions. I’ve expanded some and found one called Watch People Die Inside and wow, there are some spectacular failures, but people rarely get hurt and never get hurt badly, so it is safe to watch and enjoy.
Yes and yes. Sheep milk isn’t gamey tasting at all and is commercially available as all of the general things that cow’s milk is used for. Many folks with cow mile allergies enjoy sheep milk instead of nut juice.
Goat milk is gamier, but the butter is still sweet and is available in some grocery stores.
The main reason such things aren’t more mainstream is because goats and sheep “dry up” after a season and have to be bred every year for milk production to continue. They also don’t produce nearly as much milk as our current batch of over-bred, mono-culture milk cows.
Kicks soapbox back under my desk.
I’m still sending your way, nellie. I do hope you start feeling better sooner rather than later.
So my porch cushions arrived today which prompted hubs to volunteer to take all of the wicker furniture out in the driveway and spray them off. I reminded him that he had a pressure washer and it was like seeing a lightbulb go off over his head. He washed all of the furniture and then the patio walls (brick) and tile floor.
I sprayed everything down with the hose when we first moved in, Hubs did a much better job today and it looks very nice.
Now it is raining and we are under a tornado watch again. So far, there has been no wind, just lots of thunder and rain. I kinda miss being able to watch the lightning storms, but I wouldn’t give up the forest so here I am, LOL!!!
Soooooo glad I got our travel docs organized! I got an email today from Expedia about one tour I’d booked in Reykjavik - the time was changed. So I pulled out my folder, went to the printed out ticket, and changed it from 1230 to 1200. I also changed it on my cruise calendar page. Easy peasy! The time change didn’t matter anyway - that night, we’re staying over in Reykjavik.
My tablet, which is FCD’s old tablet, has been wonky the last few days. It will hang up for no apparent reason. I don’t want to have to replace it just yet, but I’m counting on it for the cruise. We’ll see what the coming days bring. Dammit.
Chilly and rainy days ahead - maybe I’ll finally get back to sewing. No, I didn’t do any today. Because reasons. I’m such a slacker…
Howdy Y’all! We did not get shorn today. We shall do that tomorrow as the do place is near the Pubic Sto’. Laundry got done and we had some quality cee-mint pond time. Nappage and sup were also accomplished. Oh and the big chicken got cooked and shredded. Thus is the news from swampland.
Shut it down and wait five minutes then turn it back on. Next, go into your storage and get rid of everything you don’t use, all of those little games you forgot about are still taking up room. When you are done, give it another shut down, wait and turn it back on.
If that doesn’t work, consider doing a full reset.
My 15 year old tablet is also getting kinda wonky but as long as I can keep putting duct tape on the memory, I won’t need to think about replacing it.
I do that regularly - when I get bored with a game (or lose the same level 3 times in a row), I immediately uninstall it. All my photos and ebooks are on the card. But I’ve not turned it off and left it - I’ll give that a shot. Thanks.
I’m not sure who did it. S/XM is somewhat lax about telling you which artist did what. There was also a bluegrass cover of “All Along The Watchtower,” which Bob Dylan wrote, and was covered by Jimi Hendrix and a multitude of electric bands. I did check out Hayseed Dixie and Ironhorse.
Coppertone, I hope your mammygram came out okay. I hear some squishers are more gentle than others.
It’s been raining sporadically today.
I decided to solve my too-many-pennies problem by turning it over to the local public radio station. That’s 18 rolls of wheat-back cents, 100 rolls of non-wheat, and another 3 or 4 pounds in an old oversize whiskey bottle, unsorted.
I hope your mammygram came out okay.
I had a girlfriend who was a radiology scheduler at a well-known hospital in L.A. She said women would call all the time, asking to schedule a ‘mammyogram’.
Ariel having a gastroscope today. Diagnosis? Ulcers. She started a 28 day regimen of 2 meds twice a day. The vet was 2 hours late (she’s a repro vet and had to deal with babies). It rained all day. It was cold. I was crabby and tired.
Thank you; yes, which is why I put it off for years. Thats not really smart, women should get them more often. I got lucky.
The new People and Us came in. Im also reading Class Clown, the new one by Dave Barry.
I got shopping done as Im not going out tomorrow. Its ti rain all day and I shouldnt get my toe wet and I cant put it in a covered shoe yet because of the pressure.
Hard to believe its not going to be 80 on Memorial Day.
In other news, Church Guy, who I dont see anymore as I stopped going to his church ( its a sin to use any music during worship and you are not saved til after you’ve been baptized) has almost lost his job.
Hes worked at Progressive ( online at home) for 28 years and they are outsourcing to India. He can go on phone lines or accept severence.
Hes only 56 and doesnt think he has enough to retire on.

If you really like the Palisade, waiting 5-7 months shouldn’t be an issue. Just a word from someone who has worked in the auto industry though, purchasing a new model / power train in its first couple of years can be problematic at times. If the power train is already proven though, you should be good.
52, good to see ya around. Sounds like the whole of Mumperhood is having some bad weather times; we ought to get together to sing “Stormy Weather”…
It’s been stormy all day here too.
Well, most of the stuff that I planned to do today? Not done. While I was showering, I reached around to wash my backside and felt pain that took my breath away. This time, I’m having issues with the right side and am using a cane inside. Tomorrow is the MRI and an appointment with the ortho Thursday (I’ll have to uber or lyft to that because I’m not up to walking from the parking lot to the building). Sis will be coming back up Thursday or Friday to take care of Nelson and me. I’m thinking that I may wind up with back surgery. I’m also applying for SSDI, but if I don’t qualify for it, I’ll likely retire and head to Houston to be near Sis. Right now (and this may change), I really can’t see myself going back to my current irkplace. It’s been a sucky day all around.
Missed the edit window. I came home to a pile of ant covered cat barf..
