(Old) How would you start the MMP...?

That is so sweet. And you’re right – the soonest I was going to pick up a new screwdriver was tomorrow, when I’ll be in town for other reasons. But now the new burner tube assembly is installed, I don’t think I’ll go that route. However…

Oh, Murphy need not worry. My replacement burner tube kit didn’t fix the problem. The propane is guttering still – which is what I had hoped the tube kit would remediate. But at least I’ve eliminated that part of the assembly as the issue! So now it must be in one of the fittings further up the, uh, pipeline. I’ve studied up on how to clean those bits and will tackle the task anew soon. When a new grill costs $550, I can be very inspired to repair what has worked well for many years!

And hey – Sun Farts… who knew??

I hope you had the pleasant day you were anticipating, metal mouse!

Once again, a GG story gave me big belly laughs! He really is a one-off. Although Jolene is also quite a character. I love her stories, too. Thank you for sharing their antics, though I’m sorry for all the extra work!

52, I sure hope the old guy comes through for you. What an awful day you had.

coppertone, sorry you missed the Kit Kat tasting. That sounds… interesting.

Howdy Y’all! Been home for a little while from the doin’s. We had chikin boobs in a mushroom sauce, long grain rice, mixed veggies, rolls and peach cobbler. Then we heiped set up the Parish hall for the reception after the funeral tomorrow. Joan’s ashes will be placed in a mausoleum type place at a local cemetery after the service and the reception will take place after that. Whilst that happens, we will assist with gettin’ foodstuffs set out and so. Tomorrow will be a longish day for our RDOS selves.

Now I shall see what’s up on teh intartoobz for a bit.

The oreo tasting last year was too!

I’m so sorry, speeling is not my strong point. We have Purple Martin birds in the spring and summer. I would be thrilled if we had Martens making whoopy in our yard, but alas, it was just common ol’ bird sex. (which doesn’t look like a whole lot of fun tbh)

Get a water loving Maine Coon, they said.
It’ll be fun, they said.

For some reason having to keep our cat out of the water just seems to break our brains. And cats never teach other good habits, just the bad ones. Jolene was in there splashing her front feet in the water as well.

That sounds so much easier than trying to pill a little, tiny housecat.

Also, if you are considering moving…start sorting and packing now. It’s never too soon to start that sort of thing, because you will never have enough time to finish.

Of all the “tricks” he could have learned, opening doors isn’t the one I would have picked. Once he learned how to open lever handled doors, round knobs didn’t stymie him long enough. At least he hasn’t learned how to pull doors inwards. Yet. I’m sure his thinkin’ brain cat has been working on that issue for the team.

You are a very kind person for not calling the police. His car would have been towed even if he did have a valid driver’s license.

I hope the repair isn’t too much of a PITA and that any needed parts are available.

Next time, just stay home and hang out with us. Its safer that way!

Huked on foniks sur wurked fer me! Poor Mom tried so hard, she did her best.

My favorite thing to do nowadays is to not buy stuff when we can fix what we already have. I fired Amazon and our garbage can really shows the difference. All of that plastic and cardboard we used to throw out never enters our home anymore. I’ve convinced two people to buy Reverse Osmosis with UV systems in my never ending goal of convincing people to stop buying bottled water. (Fuck Nestle)

So…our water is now running clean again which is nice. Back in AZ, the water ran murky for at least a day after a break so now I’m washing towels and planning on mopping all of the floors tomorrow.

Hubs noticed that somekitty had also gotten our comforter surface wet so that will be next in the machine. I sometimes wish we had bought a white cat, wiping long black fur off the walls wasn’t nearly as much fun as it could be. My eyes are so bad that I wouldn’t have noticed white fur on the walls and Hubs probably couldn’t say what color the walls are without looking cause he just does not notice that sort of thing.

MetalMouse - the seizure meds have to be taken fairly regularly because, well, seizures. I’d not fret over the BP and cholesterol mess. But I don’t want to risk a seizure on vacation. I’ll double check with my neurologist.

It’s pouring again, and more is promised tomorrow afternoon. That’s tonight’s excitement.

Someone posted in our neighbourhood Farcebook group, ‘The whales are playing in Birch Bay!’

I commented (first comment), ‘Band name! (Would The Whales play surf music?)’

(Why, yes. I do laugh at my own jokes. Thank you for asking.)

Me too! And my 3 year old grandson is starting to wonder about me, what with all that snort-laughing and snickering when we laying in his bed calming down to go to sleep. I told him I’m reading stories about some amusing cats that my friends have.

Just back from our museum field trip. Ithaca to Pittsburgh and back is a looong way to go, by van, in 2 days. But it was fun, saw some neat stuff, got some new ideas to use, both for us and for the Engineering students. And we made 2 different restaurants slightly irked by coming in with a surprise 9-top. But they were all very nice and we did show up at slow times for them.

Might try a wire brush and scrub the little holes on the burner?

JtC Sounds like GG was not entirely to blame for the tub fiasco, I thought you said Hubs left the door open? But, yeah, funny stuff, kinda picturing something out of a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Black Taz.

Ughhhh! I’m glad that you didn’t get hurt though.

That’s the current plan.

My lease isn’t up until August. However, I’ve already pared down quite a bit and while Sis is here, we’ll be making more recycle center and Goodwill drop offs. The plan for moving, whenever it happens, will be to hire movers. Most of my friends are too old and broke down to be loading up a u-Haul for pizza and beer.

JtC, your story about GG made me giggle.

That’s a great suggestion for a regular gas grill, and I appreciate it! But this is a Weber charcoal grill with a propane assist to light the charcoal. I replaced the tube assembly that directly lights the coals, but there is a tube and fitting assembly further back that probably has a tiny clogged orifice. You clean it with a pin, so that’s kind of a clue as to its vulnerability to stopping up. Again, thanks for the suggestion, though!

Remembering to keep the door closed so the jerkface kittycat stays out of the water just isn’t a habit we’ve needed to develop until now.

And how could I possibly get mad at our beloved pet for doing his best James Brown imitation? I FEEL GOOD!!!

I wasn’t really mad at Hubs, I forget about that side of our jerkface as well. I think I’ll make a recurring note on my calendar to give our cat/s a bath once a month just because it will make him/them happy.

At least this house has a bathroom door, our last two homes didn’t, we just had water closets with doors and the tub/shower/sinks were all out in the open.

We used professional movers twice and lost things I really treasured but didn’t know were gone until it was too late to go back to the old place and try to find them. This move I packed all of my special things and trusted Hubs to pack the stuff we used every day.

On moving day, he forgot that we had a brand new washer and dryer set which didn’t get packed because he didn’t tell the box loaders to take them.

Moving sucks. Start packing now. You won’t have enough time.

JtC You are able to give the kitties baths? Wow!! I know it’ll take out a lot of the undercoat, that’s what happened with the late Cin (dog), and he always felt better afterwards, but didn’t like the experience. He’d run around like a goofball for 10 minutes and rolling on his back for 10 minutes after.

But dogs aren’t as…pointy as cats.

Keeping George out of the water is the problem. Giving him a bath is easy, just fill the tub with hot water and a few squirts of shampoo and let him in. He loves swimming, he’ll hop right in and splash around until I think he’s getting cold then I’ll rinse him off with warm water and towel him off on the floor.

Scheduled baths do not involve jumping on the walls and shouting because I’m a meany. He only gets to shake and splash when one of us forgets that the big fuzzbutt cannot be trusted around water and is starting to bad influence the little one.

Up from naptime, having a martini and teriyaki stir fry.
Me: < grabs ice for water >
Spot: < screams for ice cube >
Me: < tosses ice cube to annoying cat >
ice cube: < bonks off cat’s noggin >
Me: “Good catch, Nimrod.”

Ouch. I hope it stops hurting fast.

I had to repatch the plg in roomie’s poer recliner, and someone spent the whole time shoving his butt in my face, and gnawing on my hand.

{{{{red}}}}

Eek.

Oddly enough, Alex Catt had no problem with baths, and Spot doesn’t mind water. Gordie and Maggie Wonderbeagle acted like a bath was pouring lava and boiling acid on them. YMMV.

Is he fascinated by the commode as well? I had a very large, long haired cat ( not pedigreed like GG, but likely had some Angora or Maine Coon ancestry) who was fascinated by the swirly to the point of figuring out how to flush it. She also liked baths.

10:10pm local so time for the late-night final. Have done nothing much except have the evening cheeseburger (I forgot to take the buns out of the freezer, so it was a grilled cheese with a burger in the middle tonight). Down to abut 63F so a good night for sleeping.

Bright Tree, it was a pretty good day, some exercise, some reading, some sloth and some eating.

JtC, thanks for clarifying, someday I’ll have to tell you about the lions in Kenya…

Don’t blame you a damn bit. DO whatever will work for you to be hale and hearty for the long voyage.

VanGo, glad the trip went well, 9-top can be hard to put together but the tips can be quite nice…

And off to Slumberland. Take care all.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. And there’s nothing like your cat being loving and affectionate, then realizing he’s just whizzed the box, and is simply using the back of your had as a sheet of Charmin.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/51f with a predicted high of 15c/59f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “You might be fucking chilly today. There is still time to crochet yourself some fucking leg warmers.” Err…no, thank you very much, I think I’ll pass on that one.

It’s to stop the idiots falling in, and then suing the council for not putting enough barriers around the hole!

Ouchie! I hope it gets better soon, before you need professional help.

Congratulations on a successful workaround, and some lovely sunny weather

Change is good, right? Retirement sounds like a great option if you’re able to do it and get yourself into a reasonably comfortable living situation. Best of luck!

I am so sorry to hear that - I hope the geezer gave you genuine information and you can get something settled. Glad nobody was hurt too, hopefully the wine helped with the headache!

metalmouse thanks for the info on sun farts

VanGo glad to hear the trip went well, you could probably do with a nap after that

Yesterday turned out to be a waste of a day, as expected. Aside from the fact that I get the least amount of work done on Wednesdays when the office is busy, I had several meetings to attend that I really could have done without. However, I turned up and listened to folks pontificating about stuff and did very little else.

Went home and tended to the various needs of cats, then had some dinner and went to the pub with my friends. It rained during the day, much heavier at home than on campus, so it was too damp and chilly to sit outside. We sat in the conservatory part of the pub where they had the doors open and ceiling fans going so it was pleasant being in there. They had a couple of nice guest beers as well so those had to be tried out.

I was home later than usual, then had to give the cats their bedtime treats and ham, then make sure the litter trays were clean, and give Muffin her five seconds of fuss before the growling and grumbling started…and I finally got to bed. The Travel Gods rewarded me by being kind this morning but I am sure they’ll make up for it later as I need to fetch 'im indoors from the station later this evening.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is to funeralize Joan. OYKW may not go as he really did not know her very well. Plus I am sure he wants some quality cee-mint pond time and the weather will be perfect for that. However, I have Chalice duty and promised to help get stuff set up for the visitation afterwards. There should be a good crowd for both the funeral and visitation. Anywho that will take a large chunk out of the day for me. Methinks sup will be stoner food as I can pick it up on my way back to da cave.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for funeralizin’ must commence.

Happy Thursday Y’all!
