(Old) I resolve to start the new MMP

He took a pic of the cats’ faces and shared it with the litter box, now it can text him and say “George urine Xg at 1300”.

It will do its main job without the wifi, all the tech is just a toy for Hubs to play with for a few days and then ignore. You can’t get them without all that stuff or we would have.

I make cottage cheese almost weekly. I’ve been doing it for years. I forget the salt half the time :frowning:

Write a list. Really, that’s what gets me moving. I’m all like “Oh, yeah, I meant to dust the ceiling fans today, I guess I better get on it.”

I don’t care for fried chicken, but know that they used to make great mac and cheese. Their waffle fries were pretty good too.

We both gave up fast food years ago, though. Too expensive and too many empty calories. Before we retired, it was mostly trip food but now we have the time to sit down and eat off plates for the same money so that’s what we do.

That sounds like an excellent plan! (How’s Ariel? Do horses also get the winter blahs? Give her some ear rubs for me and a treat, please.)

I don’t think the cabs are heated either, all of the delivery trucks I see have the doors open and the drivers in jackets.

I can see the highway from my room and today is a bad day to be driving on it. So far, I’ve seen an oversized manufactured home (in two parts) along with pilot trucks to wave people over go slowly by, a pair of snowplows (empty and with plows lifted) with their pilot vehicles and just now a funeral procession went by.

The highway is a narrow two lane road with limited visibility and passing lanes. You can’t easily or safely get around that sort of thing, you just have to join the long line of slow moving vehicles until you or they turn off.

I’m home!

Still unpacking after 6 weeks of being gone. The new recliner is assembled, which I’ll have to sleep in tonight since my bed was too high with the frame under it and too low without. BIL is going to take 3" off the legs to make it juuuuuusssttt right. Sis will be badk tomorrow with the frame and will do some rearranging in my apartment.

I was doing the 100 and 200 Slides today. The workload wasn’t too bad, apart from all the people bringing me things to clerk, not noticing the labEl on the side of every box that said RESCHEDULED JAN 5. And after Thursdays Hot Sauce spill, and Friday’s water, today’s spill requiring mass reboxing was motor oil. Plus after the sort I got slammed with fallout, and damages, and reboxings. I got out at 1pm. But laundry is in the dryer, so I can take a brief pre hockey nap.

Nothing quite like a cold shower in a cold apartment. Gla you at least had some heat.

The dominatrix charges extra for letterss.

Yay!

Lily, it will be so fun to watch as your new fuzz butts grow strong and healthy under your excellent care. I’m looking forward to the promised pics, too!

Astonishing what an ice breaker it is around here, isn’t it?

Same around here, among some. So much so that I stay safely tucked away at home on game days and never venture near downtown Ewe-Jean.

metal mouse, hope the coaching and refereeing goes well today! And thanks for your kind thoughts re where my dedication to Ducks college football comes from.

It’s not quite that bad around here. Although it’s smart to pay attention to one’s location before expressing an opinion about a preference between Ducks and Beavers. (And I know just where your mind is going to go, so no need to point out your obvious preference between those two. )

JtC, your dedication to your craft is a delight! Happy news that you finally got your stars uncrossed! Can’t wait to see the finished piece. Sorry about the bread debacle. You’re smart to trust your instincts – that’s what all this learning curve is about, right? You know it’s right when you know. Also, congrats on the new high falutin’ functioning litter box!

dicey, I’m glad your mom got her special old pie pan back. Mine was nothing special except for its sentimental value, and the friend I left it with had no idea about that. It just never occurred to me she wouldn’t return it. I’m kind of a stickler about making sure things get back to their original owners. I hope your heat pump is fixed soon! I live in dread of the same thing happening to me… sounds like it’s even colder where you are.

Boo Fae, great story about your dad baking stuffing in your mom’s dedicated pie dish. I wonder, was it made of a material that might take on off flavors? I know I’m particular about a particular cast iron crepe pan for that reason. The only thing I use it for is making crepes. If I saw someone frying onions in it, I might deck them! And brave you for taking on the snow and ice to get to the gym and look after your health! Enjoy your evening.

FCM, glad the erranding went well, and yeah, Venezuela… What is it the kids say? I can’t even.

red, massive yaaayyyyysss for being home at last! Really happy for you!

We’re having an overcast day with highs to approach mid 50s, rain coming this afternoon and evening. I don’t even know where the day has disappeared to so far. I did some house irk this morning, messed with Ollie and finally got around to breakfast. Later, I need to go out and see if I can start the lawn tractor so it can haul around the cart I use to move things from place to place. Handyman will be back on Monday to finish bucking up wood and transporting it to the various places it needs to end up, so being able to use the lawn tractor and cart will be useful. Better than a wheelbarrow, anyway.

Dinner is handled with the leftovers from the shrimp salad I made and had last night.

I reserve the rest of the weekend for bludging!

I checked my Parboil ticket, and I hit the Powerball! Not all the other numbers, just the Powerball, so that’s a few bucks.

I saw Ariel yesterday. She was enjoying the sun in pasture. I gave her treats and rubbed her face. Horses prefer the winter. It’s not hot, not humid, no bugs. She does hate wearing her blanket though.

I find it hard to believe that there are people who don’t like fried chicken. It is my kryptonite.

Dunno if I ever shared this - likely I did. After a reorganization at the Jacksonville depot, I was assigned to the P-3 engineering group. First question my new coworkers put to me was “Where did you go to school?” Next one was something about Boilermakers football. My reply was along the lines of “Don’t know, don’t care.” And I was spared any future football conversations. We got along fine and I didn’t have to fake interest.

The day is winding down. I was mostly lazy. Tomorrow may be more of the same. Or maybe I’ll bathe Otis. Who knows?

We’re kitten-proofing, which includes laundry/laundry put away, chemicals put in cupboards, most cardboard boxes being broken down (though some have been cut and will be litter box holders and “don’t pounce on me, I just got spayed” hidey-holes). More of that tomorrow (under our bed, books-are-not-scratchers blockades, laying down of washable area rugs). We wouldn’t be quite so deliberate about their first day or so if the littler black one (possibly: Shiraz) wasn’t being spayed on Monday. I myself would not like to be jumped on by a stripey kitten (possibly: Topaz) if I had just had surgery. We’ll start off in the biiiiig bathroom, and if they’re chill, open the door to our bedroom. I’m prepared to sleep on a mat in the bathroom with them or with Shiraz, as needed.

Red, glad you’re back home!

I stay safely tucked away at home on game days and never venture near downtown Ewe-Jean.

Alls I can say is I’ve seen a lot more stuff on fire post-game in Corvalis.

I’ve got one due for spay in the near future myself. Kasya’s appointment is the 12th. Yes, she’s being kept totally indoors until then. No, she doesn’t seem thrilled by that.

Fortunately for her, her feline housemate is a middle-aged guy (TNR graduate, so even if she does go into heat prior to her appointment, she’s safe with him) who isn’t prone to starting pounce-fests or games of tag, so she won’t have the problem of a rowdy furry sibling wanting to PLAY. The challenge is going to be keeping her calmed down enough for recovery.

Yebbut, saying “Carolina sucks” will get you into good graces with two out of three teams.

Welp, the much dreaded day arrived. I told Mrs Magill why I’m seeking counseling. Scared shitless, I told her I’m struggling with gender dysphoria. It was like water off a duck’s back. I think she may have already known. Then she bought me ice-cream. She has my number.

Howdy Y’all! I was such a domestic this mornin’! Both casseroles and the cookies were all done and the kitchen cleanded up by eleven o’clock. Go Me! The rain abated for a while, so OYKW went and picked up stoner food for lunch. Nappage and day drinkin’, along with stoopid teevee took up the afternoon. TWPTB issued a tstorm warnin’ around four-thirty with their usual pearls clutched alarm. We got some heavy rain and a few thunder booms. I appreciate the notifications, but they could dial the drama back a bit.

red hooray for bein’ home! I know Nelson and you are beyond thrilled.

MOOOOOOM there is a reason I call it IckFilA. Nasty chikin and I am a fried chikin aficionado.

In the SEC, everyone hates everyone. However there are some teams every team hates more than others. For instance, Jawja hates Flarduh and Auburn the most with Tennessee bein’ a close third. However, above all other teams, even other SEC teams, includin’ Flarhduh, Auburn and Tennessee, Jawja hates Jawja Tech re: the NATS. I am sure I have explained NATS, but just in case, Jawja Tech’s main campus is located on North Avenue in Etlanner. Hence the name NATS, North Avenue Trade School.

Mmm, cookies.:cookie:

He’s overjoyed to have his toys to play with, but a bit confused with the change.

Congrats on being home!

Went to a production of “A Christmas Carol” at our local theatre. Very good. It’s theatre in the round, with all set changes done as the show progresses.

  • Began with a narrator (who later played all four ghosts), doing an intro for the empty stage with a single light standard with a bare bulb; explained that the theatre custom was always to have a “ghost light” burning all night on the stage, to prevent someone from accidentally stepping off the stage in the dark, but also to keep ghosts away; “but tonight, we are turning it off, because tonight is a ghost story and we want the ghosts to feel welcome”;

  • Scrooge was well done : very nasty to start with, but redemption was believable;

  • Several talented kids in the play (Bob Cratchit’s kids, who also played other roles);

  • The Ghosts were appropriately done, all four played by the same actor, who doubled/tripled for several other roles, but I would have liked to have seen more of the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come - it was almost an offstage presence.

  • Mrs Cratchit was appropriately outraged by the toast, and heartbreaking after the death in the future Christmas.

All told, excellent afternoon.

Well, coached two games, refereed two games and mentored a youth referee doing his first game, so a pretty full day of indoor soccer. Got home and piled on the calories and am now sitting here stuffed and happy. It’s still 47F now, but heading down to 32F later. Which is fine by me, nothing to do and nowhere to go until tomorrow.

Better get to the scrolling part…

Nettie, youth sometimes needs to learn the hard way…

FCM, did a little googling, nothing about CHic-Fil-A opening Sunday, would be against all their tenets, I believe. WOnder why someone would pay for a billboard saying that?

red, welcome home!

Knots, looks like the Powerball number only earns you the munifcent sum of $4. Don’t spend it in one place…

lily, sounds like this kitten thing is going well.

Maus, best wishes and souonds like the Missus is a gem.

Piper, I think I’ve seen one ‘theatre in the round’ during my life, can’t for the life of me remember what it was, but it is an interesting way of viewing things.

And that is all for now. We’ll see if anything occurs to me in the next several hours and if not, catch y’all on Sunday.

Wishing you all the best with counseling, your wife, and whatever comes next for you.

I took a short nap. I had a Sazarac, and Asian BBQ stirfry for dinner. I watched the Canes go up 3-1, then collapse like a Hrung.

That’s why I’m glad I never had surgery when I had Gordie. He like to chew off Band-Aids.

Kasya: “HELLO SAILOR!”
Buddy: “What are you talking about, I’ve never been in the Navy.”

{{{{Maus}}}}

So say we all.

Real love isn’t loud and shouty and showy. It is ice cream when you are scared.

You’ve got a keeper!

I do hope that all goes well, but have heard that it can take a while to find a counselor you are comfy with. Don’t blame yourself if you don’t mesh with the first one, everyone is different.

Indeed, GO YOU!!!

It is also always drama with the weather warnings here. I’m kinda thinking its like the weather/fire warnings in AZ. Not enough time to fill the required “news” time so they need to remind everyone to stock up on batteries and water or whatever it is this time.

You get it! I’m getting so much advice along with pics, but nobody seems to understand that I won’t get it unless I’ve been elbow deep in it. I can read and follow instructions and charts. I can see people doing it. I really cannot understand it until I’ve done it for myself. But…once I’ve got it, I’ve got it and then I can start playing with it.

Hubs is also learning. I’ve been baking in a stainless steal stock pot. Yesterday’s batch included a cornmeal base (forgot the parchment paper lifting strips, but it wouldn’t have mattered) and a well floured wonky shaped loaf.

The flour and cornmeal was just kinda sitting in the pot and hubs put it in the dishwasher without dumping and rinsing (we discuss this on a regular basis). The flour turned to corn glue when it got hit with hot water and then got baked on during the mandatory (something we have stopped discussing) heated dry cycle.

I think he won’t do that again.

He’s also bored with the litter box tech. It was fun for an hour or so but who really wants to get a text at 0317 informing him that Jolene peed? All of that stuff got shut off while he was having his morning coffee.

That makes a lot of sense. Plus people don’t want to go out and ride when its cold so she gets to laze around in the sun.

I’ll bet that if I really liked eating animal flesh, I’d love fried chicken. Salt and grease and crunchy skin, what’s not to love?

When you prevent all of the easy things, they will find harder ones. We thought we had kitty proofed one of our homes, until they learned they could pull the floor vent covers up and get into the vents.

You do sound like you have it under control, just like every other battle plan you’ve made. I do hope it is fairly painless.

That poor lil guy has had a lot of changes in his life, no wonder he’s confused. Where is he going to go next?

Here’s hoping he calms down soon.

That sounds like a most excellent afternoon and I’m happy you were able to enjoy it.

Not much happened here. I stitched, hubs killed monsters and the fuzzbutts had a spat. Jolene bit George’s ear so hard she left a drop of blood and then took off when he yipped. They got over it, she spent a long time licking his ear afterwards.

James and I are going out tomorrow, we both have errands to run and we both need to go to the library so it is more efficient to do them together.

I think my lemon tree is dying but that was also a learning experiment. My next one will thrive.

It is so much this. Quick question: What’s your elevation? And another question, do you have a lidded Dutch oven?
