(Old) I resolve to start the new MMP

That is super cool to learn. When I was a kid in Southern Calif, I learned that Mexican women would always incorporate a mistake into their Ojos de Dios because only God is perfect.

Late night final as the fire-irks are going off a good 90 minutes before New Years. Watched some of the tackleball but probably will not last to midnight, bed is looking better and better. Got the indoor soccer schedules copied out, will print them up for Saturday distribution and e-mail them to the parents tomorrow (it’s always a good idea to give them several ways to find the schedule). Outside of that have slothed and snacked my way through the evening.

VanGo, hope the thing gets working properly soon.

Flyboy, have a good night out. And hope the booms don’t last much past midnight.

JtC, I think I tried venison once when I was young, and have no desire to try it again for the remainder of my life, but it Hubs likes it…different stokes…

And almost 11pm locally, so I’ll see all y’all in 2026.

Listening to Rod Stewart singing Auld Lang Syne as the fire slowly dies on the hearth. Snow is gently falling; Piper mutts went out and came back in, covered in snow.

Best wishes to all for the New Year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! *

  • for people in the Eastern Time Zone

Happy new year, y’all!!

May this one be better for us all.

In Otaru. The normal 2 1/2 drive went over three hours because of the snow. The roads were plowed but with snow falling then it was hard to see where the side was. One car was off the road and in the ditch, so there wasn’t anything we could do.

Someone else had stopped and they looked busy on the phone, presumably trying to find a tow truck on the biggest holiday in Japan, 90 minutes away from a city.

And yes, we did proceed slowly.

New Year’s Eve on Chinese New Year on my first year in Taiwan seemed like a war zone. We lived in a rented townhouse near a huge park that had groups competing to out irk each other.

There is an advantage to living in the sub-arctic. We don’t get no fireworks at New Years. No-one is going to stand outside for an hour waiting for 20 minutes of booms.

Parking up here is difficult when there are Things Going On, and The Spousal Unit doesn’t want to walk down (and especially up) the hill to the beach. So we drove a coupe of mile south, where we were sure to find a spot. We lit our flares and set up our chairs. It’s in the low-30s, but not windy. I did snap a couple of photos looking north, which showed the shore lighted up and the flying lantern constellation, but it didn’t turn out well enough. (The lanterns were ‘streaked’.)

21:42 now, and Mrs. L.A. just went to bed. Goo is on the arm of CatMom’s chair (now in it) wondering why we’re not going to bed. Abbey is snoozing on the other end of the couch. Findus is in bed with CatMom.

Aw… Goo just went over to Abbey, and mutual head-licking is happening.

And so 2025 is coming to an end. I have five more weeks until I’m jobless. It would be so nice to win a jackpot in a lottery! Otherwise, 2026 is looking to be off to a rocky start.

flyboy I started 2025 in sorta the same position as you are in now. I was staring at closing my business and doing I don’t know what. I ended up in a good spot through some fortunate situations. I hope the best for you. :people_hugging: You and me both on the lottery. :crossed_fingers:

Lol. My mom would tolerate some salty language from her kids when we hit our late teens, but would knock us into next Tuesday for dropping the F bomb.

I highly recommend Dr. Bernard Clayton’s Bread Bible. I learned a lot from it when I was baking bread.

Happy new year!

Sis and I went to my apartment today. Everything went well until we got back to her house. Once there, I fell going up the one step. It took Sis and her firefighter neighbor to get me back on my feet. I think I’ll be beginning the new year .

Good morning and Happy New Year

Same for me. We had a neighbor who was a hunter (butchered his deer in his back yard, not even 20’ from our shared fence - shudder) and he gave my mom some venison steaks. Granted, I was a lot pickier as a kid, but I remember it just tasted weird, whatever that means. I’ve never been interested it in since then, not that it’s come up.

As expected we snored in the new year, metaphorically if not actually. I was reading till almost 11:30, but I kept nodding off, and I was totally zonked out before midnight. Yeah, party on… But I was up around 4 - so it’ll be a long day with the grandspawn, or at least it will feel that way.

FCD has decided he’ll work in his shop instead of going to the boat - I’m glad about that! He’s in a panic to get things done and I’m terrified that he’s going to hurt himself worse than he has already (lots of cuts and such.) If he can arrange for doggy daycare tomorrow, I’ll accompany him to the boat.

I expect the kids will be here within 30 minutes or so. The predicted high is 37 Ferrets - pretty sure it’ll be a basement day. I hope Daughter gets an early start, tho the current temp in Akron is 10 Ferrets - who wants to get out in that?? We shall see. I just hope she has an uneventful drive.

So that’ll be my day, I guess.

Happy 2026! Here’s hoping it’s better than 2025 was.

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit.

Good Mornin‘Y’all and Happy New Year! ‘Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a high of 63 and sunny. I started feelin’ sick mid afternoon and went to bed just before six last night. Don’t know what it was, but thirteen hours of sleep was the cure as I feel much better today. I need to get myself purtified shortly as we do have guests comin’ around elevenish.

Lots of posts yestiddy. I will attempt to read all later on.

Happy Thursday/New Year Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/42f with no predicted change, and rain showers. Weather app says “I’m sorry to tell you that it’s going to fucking rain on your nachos. Or maybe I’m not fucking sorry.” Well, it is raining out there and we have a weather warning for snow and ice, not that we are expecting to get any here.

Hurrah! Common sense has prevailed at last.

Eeeek! That is definitely cutting it fine

Congratulations on keeping within the weight range you want to be! Sounds like you have had a successful year tracking your progress and keeping on top of everything. That’s my plan for 2026!

Mooooom hurrah on fitting into stuff again. It’s a very good feeling

Our NYE went as expected, I made chilli for dinner and we watched a couple of films. Popped the cork on some champagne, watched a bit of the fireworks in London, and went back to the film. London’s fireworks were apparently scheduled to be on for 12 minutes, we watched the start and then the background “music” took a turn for the worst and we switched it off

There were lots of fireworks around us, going off almost hourly as new year was celebrated across Europe and the locals set off their fireworks at whatever time their home country reached midnight. Makes it a long and rather noisy night for us, and the cats were not very happy about it so they got extra treats.

I got to bed around 3am, slept in this morning and have no plans to do anything much today. I had some pension-related paperirk in the post that I need to read, just to be sure that there’s nothing I need to do with it, and I need to put the 2026 calendars up (one in my office and one in the kitchen) with notes of the bin schedule and important events! Other than that, I shall impersonate a sloth for the rest of the day. ‘im indoors is making dinner tonight and has decided it will be Chinese chicken curry and egg-fried rice so I’ll be looking forward to that.

Happy New Year, everyone!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Spot stomped me awake at 0600, but I went back to bed till 0730. It’s currently 38 degrees Ferret Height(3.33 Centipedes), and it’s supped to get to 55, making it the warmest day of the year.
Grocery shopping on the agenda today.

< tosses Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch >

Happy new year! Birch Bay will have to do its thing without me. Between cold, fog, parking, and timing issues, I’d rather stay home and edit/watch the Ducks game.

I actually thought of that this morning – about twenty minutes too late.

The weather up this way was total crap last night. I hope Akron has gotten their act together by this morning.

BooFae, thank you for reminding me to set up my new calendars. Not sure how I’d forgotten up to this point.

Last night I didn’t feel good and so I laid down and then I woke up around 11:15 and stayed up until about 12:05 with MusicMan and then went back to sleep. Today I’m going to be working on my teaching lesson that will be recorded and formally graded - submitted to the state. I’m going to have my mom and MusicMan be my students! Speaking of, I need to get back to it so I can be ready when they are ready. See y’all later!
