(Old) I resolve to start the new MMP

Thanks.

Squirrels. Lovely creatures.

Piper Mutt vows death to all squirrels. Hasn’t had much luck yet for his quest for yard domination.

We had a good time with my eldest and his family. His son, who is 13, and who has been playing piano since last April, gave us a concert on the grand piano downstairs, playing Bach, Beethoven and the themes from several online games. With both hands and from memory. Holy crap, this kid is a prodigy. He also plays French horn in the St. Paul youth orchestra and in his school bands. I’m very impressed with him. By the time he was done playing downstairs, several residents had wandered in to see who was playing and stayed to listen.

Howdy Y’all! The NYD feast was a success. We ate. We drank. We made merry. All the foodstuffs got et up except for the cheesecake. We will have the last of that tomorrow. Yay for leftover cheesecake! I have been keepin’ up with kolledge football off and on. Lily and Bright Tree conga rats on the Ducks win. Looks like they will be playin’ Indiana in the semis as they are all over Alabammy right now. My DAWGS will play Sippimissi at eight p.m. I doubt I will be able to watch the entire game, due to the fact that I can’t seem to stay up past ten p.m. Now’tis time to see whatup on teh intartoobz.

Daughter arrived safely a bit before 4. She said the roads in Ohio sucked but as soon as she reached PA, they were great, but her car is covered with salt. We visited a bit then I fed her and her spawn. They’ve gone home and my dishwasher is just about done its cycle. FCD is doing something in the shop - claims it won’t take long. Otis has been gnawing on me when I don’t pay him enough attention, tho apparently this last gnaw meant “I want to go out!!” So he’s out.

We’re taking him to doggie day care tomorrow so we can both work on the boat - FCD will be sanding window frames and I’ll mask them. With luck, we can get them all done (he’s done half of them already.) Then we’ll come home and I get to do laundry!

For now, tho, chillage shall reign.

I made cornbread. Ham hocks and black-eyed peas are done. Ham hock and collard greens are done. I’m guessing we’ll eat after I feed teh kittehs at four o’clock.

Evening all. Exercise accomplished and dinner has been consumed. I also changed the login for my computer (I try to do this every 6 months or so, just because). I use a combination I can ‘encode’ which I can figure out but hopefully no one else can. Don’t know if I really need to do all that, but better safe than sorry. It’s 48F now going down to 41F tonight so not too bad, but rain is due tomorrow afternoon and most of the night. Indoor soccer starts Saturday and I have the rosters and schedules ready to go and have informed the parents when the first game is. So I have been moderately responsible today.

Neighbors brought over my Xmas presents (I provide them Amazon cards because they are good folks who keep an eye out for me and my house). Box of nuts, a T-shirt and a Whataburger gift card so I made out pretty well, albeit those nuts are not going to help in the calorie department…

And Ali-bama got whupped in tackleball and I don’t feel real sad about it, being born a Yankee from Ohio. Expect the coach to come under fire, but that is standard for the job here.

And 24 messages to review…merrily we scroll along…

FCM, glad daughter made it back safe and sound.

Flyboy, quite a display.

JtC, to be honest, I was about 12-13 years old when I tried venison, and that was because my dad brought it home after someone he worked with gave it to him…guess parents didn’t like it either, never remember it being on the menu again. As for the litter robot, I reckon the cats will make their own decision no matter what you and Hubs decide on.

Cookie, hope you enjoyed the people who were able to make it.

I know exactly what you mean. It looks like you could walk out there in your shirt sleeves and then…

Maus, sounds like it was a very nice visit by family. Take care, keep calm, and carry on…

Bright Tree, didn’t watch the Oregon game (the TV’s at the gym do not pickup ESPN clearly) but Atticus Sappington is such a great name I will have to watch their next game. And Yay! for you and Ollie!

Piper, I hope your wishes for the July 1 playing date is met.

On your what? The world wonders.

That squirrel has some pretty strong poop…

Cookie, sounds like the young’n really likes piano, glad he could entertain you and some others.

Swampy, Georgia, Miss. St. should be starting about now, good luck.

And back to the internettin’.

Good morning to me! It’s -1°C so around 30 Merkin.

With SIL, we are staying in an AirBnB type apartment. The place is really nice in a large apartment building with a good view of the ocean. The land is covered with snow which is good because it’s in an industrial area.

Japan has a New Year’s tradition of ekiden, long relay race on the 2nd and 3rd. Japan has a week-long holiday for New Year’s and it use to be that everything shut down. People would have a big mean on the 1st and then watch ekiden for the next two days.

We’ve been watching it for this morning, and it’s been a long time since I actually sat down and watched. They are university teams so it’s a bit like March Madness.

Oh, and I watched highlights of the U of U game, my school.too bad they lost the coach but at least they won.

Watching hockey. dinner is baked fried chicken, potato rounds, collards, and blacked eyed peas.

As does Admiral Nimitz
And it was my larynx, the resulting oxygen deprivation causing my amusing typos.

He’s eating a kg of fiber a day from that feeder…

Is there a Japaneses version of Dick Vitale?

I so agree!

That is one ungrateful little jerk. I’d be tempted to put Ex Lax in the feed mixture. Since he’s going to poop off the top anyway…

cookie, what a cool thing to enjoy with your grandson! He sounds amazingly accomplished for one so young and playing for such a short time.

Thanks – it was a fun game to watch. And I’m now watching your Dawgs do really well against Ol Miss, too!

Thanks about Ollie. I’m pretty excited about it.

Re Atticus Sappington, I do suggest you try to catch his act one of these days. I find him a fascinating character. He’s collected and executes his kicks with laser-like precision. There’s an almost robotic quality about him, but I find it quite engaging. A fun team member, for sure. (Between you and me, I think the Ducks are going to get roasted by Indiana on the 9th, though.) I do remember you saying you were more of an Ohio fan than an Alabama fan, so I’m glad you didn’t mind me dissing the Tide earlier.

Maybe no on the Ex Lax after all. Still a jerk, though!

They love you and didn’t want to bring germs into your home. (I’d be disappointed as well.)

That would help a bunch, venison is pretty lean. The summer sausage in question does have small hunks of cheese incorporated which added a fatty feeling to it.

I hope you are feeling OK after your fall. The next morning is when the bruises start to show up :frowning:

While I am not someone who thinks that marijuana is a miracle plant that heals all…have you thought about asking your doctor about it? Some folks react badly and get paranoid which would not be great, but some of the hybrids are super relaxing and engineered to relieve stress.

I hope your new year is great and PA free.

I’ve never seen venison served outside of the deer farms, but bison was big for a while. There are so many small things that differ across the country.

Thank you so much, I always appreciate praise for my work and yes, I do CDO over my stitching. There are very few things in life that I have full control over, but I can control my stitching 100%. That piece was before and after cataract surgery, so the mistakes entertain me instead of enrage me.

Here’s a slightly trickier bit that is almost perfect. I couldn’t have even started this last year.

Imgur

The light blues are sparkly, that isn’t showing well in the pics. 24 stitched per inch and white on white just defeated me last year.

I”m so happy for you and for Ollie. No itching and saving money is great. Also great about your new interwebz. It can be a challenge when one is living in the sticks.

:crossed_fingers:

After driving the Phx interstates, I am firmly convinced that flying cars and jetpacks would be A Very Bad Idea.

If someone doesn’t know how to cook a piece of meat properly, they will likely make a mess of it. I’m not being mean to your folks, I’m sure they tried their best. It also takes practice to get it right and if that was the only time they ever touched it, all of their sins were forgiven.

It sounds lovely, I’m glad you are having a good trip.

So we didn’t go out today.

Sanctuary is safe and many treasure goblins have been killed. I changed the sheets and watered my lemon tree. George has been a whiny boi all day because Jolene chose to sleep on the bed instead of with him. There are rules involved, she is allowed to cuddle up with him whenever she’s in the mood, but he isn’t allowed to join her without permission.

I found a necklace in the pool today and turned it in. I get rings slipping off, I’ve found three so far (I always look at the drains while I’m swimming, I want to be sure that tentacles won’t burst in while I’m beating the water into submission.), I don’t know how the necklace came unclasped.

And I smoked and stitched. Now I’m spraying Jolene with the water bottle because she’s fucking with my tree again. Bitch.

Agreed.

I am at this moment eating a 50/50 beef/bison meatloaf.

Love seeing your (and everyone’s) projects! Stitching, infernal screws, boats, cards, cartoons…

Up, caffeinted and sheveled. Off to heave. Second Monday. Yay.

There’s a whole group of people who would overly excited by that.

I should get the cayenne blend. A case of wolf ass would do him some good. :chipmunk: :fire:

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 1c/33f with a predicted high of 3c/38f and mostly sunny. Weather app says “If you’re hoping for fucking cute phrases like “Caution, snuggle weather”, this probably isn’t the fucking app for you.”

Hurrah for you and for Ollie! That is the best news to be reading.

I hope so too - perhaps you’ll get someone to record it and share it with us here so we can celebrate with you?

Sounds like a very uplifting experience - I hope the residents enjoyed it too. I am envious of anyone who can play piano, I really don’t have the co-ordination to do that kind of thing.

New Year’s Day passed off quietly here although there were fireworks again last night, not sure exactly where but they weren’t close enough to distress the cats. ‘im indoors made dinner and managed to burn some of it so it was decidedly “smoky” when it should not have been, and he forgot to put salt in the egg-fried rice. My turn to cook tonight, I have chicken and some leeks so I’ll concoct something with those.

Back at irk today although there’s not much going on. I have a few odd jobs to do but nothing urgent, so I will potter along until logging-off time, and then do something far more interesting.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 40 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 64 and cloudy. It’s OYKW’s bday. He wants to go to Five Guys so we shall. He doesn’t want a bday cake this year. He wants a Mrs. Edward’s chawklit silk pie. We will get him one after we eat. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities.

Sigh. My DAWGS succeeded in their attempt to lose last night. Oh well, love ‘em win or lose. However, unlike Bama fans, DAWG fans will not be plottin’ to run the coach out of town with pitchforks and torches.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Firday Y’all!

That’s something I never entirely understood - kinda like blame the messenger. There’s only so much a coach can do, especially if a player or players have a bad day or if the other team is having a much better day. Then again, I don’t understand the obsession with college football after one leaves college. Bearing in mind that I went to one half of one game when I was in college… I’m not really into football regardless.

It’s always weird to me when the morning temp is higher than when I went to bed. - 23 Ferrets last night vs. 29 Ferrets this morning, on the way to maybe 41? Luckily, the paint shed where we’ll be working is heated - underfloor heating, of all things! Otherwise, they’d lose an entire winter of work, since most paints must be applied at temps over 50 Ferrets.

Otis will get the day to play with BabyDonk - that’s the donkey he befriended at the kennel last week. So we can work without fretting over him being crated all day. It’ll be $20 well-spent. I’m just hoping we can get done early enough for me to do our laundry tonight. I hate to break the routine.

That’s pretty much all. I did have a good sleep and with luck that will give me enough energy thru the day. And so it begins.

Happy Firday!!!

The current angle of the iPad as I type is perfect for precise elbow-licking by my dearest poodle. If she doesn’t stop soon, this could be a short post!

Taters, I do not think you are grumpy at all. Some people just tend to go overboard.

FCM, glad your daughter made it home safely. I’m so glad that MusicMan isn’t driving long distance anymore. And speaking of MusicMan, Cookie, it sounds like he and your grandson have something in common being able to just almost spontaneously produce music. I hope your grandson is able to put his skills to use however he chooses.

We made our way through the Algebra lesson yesterday. I’ll just say that it’s done and not worry about how I scored until that time comes. Today MusicMan is up at the VA hospital in Cleveland for an appointment. Hopefully it goes well. I had hoped to go with him, but I’ve still got too much snot and coughing going on.
And here’s the weird story of the day. MusicMan’s oldest son brought some pumpkin pie with him for Christmas. Unfortunately he left the clean pie pan here when he went back home. This afternoon he is driving 2 hours to come pick up the pan. Now, there is also some kind of cord that he left here as well, but I don’t know that I personally would consider all that worth my time. It’s just a glass pie pan, nothing fancy. :woman_shrugging:

Why not just have it mailed to him? Is he needing to make another pie again so soon?

Good morning.

It’s 40F and damp outside. The forecast calls for morning showers, steady rain for the afternoon, and a daytime high of 47F—very blah weather.

Bright Tree, such good news about Ollie!

FCM, I’m glad your daughter made it home safely.

I don’t have much planned for today. Yesterday we tentatively agreed to drive down to the Foothills Trailhead in Orting to see if it’s bikeable yet. The trail, and several of the bridges on it, sustained severe damage during the flooding last month. They actually closed two or three of the bridges. We’ll walk the trail because I don’t see the point in wrestling with the bikes if we can’t go far.

For many years, a German restaurant on Eli Hill was run by a man and his mother. She did the cooking, and they served wild game. It was outstanding! There was bear stew, and some venison dish. It was all delicious, and you wouldn’t even have known it was venison or bear if the menu hadn’t said so. That place was the best, with a fantastic view of the valley below. Unfortunately, it closed down many years ago, but I was a steady customer from childhood until it closed in my adulthood.

Well, I suppose I should get some more coffee. The dishes are sloshing away, but I guess I could peruse some real estate for a while. Take care of yourselves.

Thank you. I’m 99% sure I know what the problem is, and I do not think marijuana will help. Besides, it just makes me hungry and paranoid. I start counselling in about two weeks. I think things will calm down once my house is emptier and the boys are back in school.

I’m having to “work” today. I managed to scrounge up about 30 minutes of work this morning. It’s mostly make busy until the field techs and project managers all come back. So it’ll be mostly Dope surfing and maybe a Blood on the Clocktower video this afternoon.

I did sleep in this morning, that way Chloé would be rested and ready for SIL and the niece to take her out for her walk. The extra hour of sleep had nothing to do with it. At all.

Boofae We didn’t have many fireworks this year. It’s usually like a warzone here from 29 December to 3 January. Of course, I’ve just jinxed it.
