Very good, Mollie!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 43 degrees Ferret Height(6.111 Centipedes). I wish I could bottle the cold for those 100 degree days in July.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/47f with a predicted high of 13c/56f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a fucking good day to see if you can suck your toes. Or someone else’s. I don’t fucking care.”
Same here. Retirement age is 67 and at that point I can claim a full pension from the state, I can’t afford to retire any earlier than that and it’s quite depressing waking up some days and realising I have several more years of this to go.
Not necessarily! I have an antique doll that belonged to my grandmother, her clothes have to be hand washed very carefully because they’re old and delicate. The insanity for me is that I do the job, put the clothes back on the doll, wrap her back up in tissue paper, put her in a box and she goes back to living under the bed.
Always the best kind of food! I hope you enjoyed it, and the Techy Guy turned up eventually.
Poor Ralphie, it’s not fun when there’s disruption in their little lives. I hope he gets fuss and treats to make up for it!
Sounds like it, after the day you’ve had. I hope you get some rest and feel better soon!
Uneventful is a perfect ending! Sounds like they both took it well, although Squeaky might have more questions about the counselling than anything else.
Yesterday was another fun irk-day, there was a late panic about more Canvas stuff and more mixed messages from more people than really needed to be involved in anything. I logged out later than I wanted to, then headed to the gym for a 30-minute spin class. I burned exactly 300 calories, and hit a peak of 156rpm on one of the sprint sections. It only lasted a few seconds, but it was good to see. Not bad for an old 'un!
We had chilli for dinner and watched the end of a Korean drama series before I declared it my bedtime. Didn’t sleep too badly but we were woken up at 4.50am by our idiot neighbour pressure-washing two of his cars. Then he let the dog out at 6am, she runs up and down the garden barking at everything. 'im indoors is not very happy (and he’s still in bed).
The other job from last night was emptying the recycling and hauling the biiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection. The binmen usually come quite early but they’ve not been yet so I’ve been able to throw a couple more things in there.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out with rain with a predicted high of 72 with rain through the mornin’ and cloudy the rest of the day. Today is laundry day, be still my beatin’ heart. I suppose it’s a good day to be inside and dry whilst I do so. Sup will be leftovers from last night. Good things neither of us minds leftovers. Sloth shall fill in all the time between laundry and sup.
JtC please don’t tell hubs unless he has his clutchin’ pearls in hand and his faintin’ couch nearby, but I haven’t achieved mowage in two weeks. I am sure Harry gave the deer a thorough rundown of their families, history and what he thinks of their mother. There are raised garden beds on the church grounds where fresh produce is grown and given to NIN. I do not participate, but there are folk who enjoy this. Anywho, fencin’ had to be put around them to keep the deer out. Also, apparently deer do not like the potato greens or peanuts because those are not fenced in and are never bothered.
Mollie seems that all went well with Spike and Squeaky. Fantastic! Also, as long as he does the dishes, I would be all well, he can act out Mommy Dearest via interpretive dance as long as the dishes are done.
FlyBoy ouchie! Hope your left hand is not all sore today.
doggio I say at the very least someone in marketin’ needs to be fired.
BooFae you do that lest your grandmother comes back to haunt you for allowin’ her doll to wallow in a box under your bed while wearin’ filthy clothes.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward to cleanse and dehydrate laundry! Rah.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
MetalMouse I get phone calls, emails, and texts for days before each doc appointment. I get one of each on the day of the appointment. My pharmacy also likes to nag with phone calls, emails, and texts when 'scripts are due for refills.
Lily of course someone from Bawlamer knows how to “hun”!
OK, have we talked about this before? I know there are several of us Dopers who are/were from the Queen City of the Patapsco River Basin. My mom and sibs all still live in that area, which is why it takes 2+ hours for me to head to Harford County to see my maternal unit.
And, FWIW, I don’t have the Balmer “o” and I don’t call people “Hun” - I don’t think there’s anything about my speech that ties me to that area. Just generic mid-Atlantic.
I’m hoping that having Otis will save my hosta this year - some aren’t coming back after the stoopit deer made a buffet of my gardens.
I didn’t know there was a theme song, tho all of a sudden I’m hearing “Jurassic Park” sung to the tune of the Star Wars theme… And you think your kids are weird…
Yeah, the kid’s weird.
Today’s starting with only 42 Ferrets - insanity!!! We’ll be headed towards 70-ish this afternoon. I’m hoping I can get the borders up for the gravel path. I wanted FCD’s help with that, but he hates yard work and, frankly, he tries to take charge. I know how I want it to go, so I’d rather not have his advice on this. I’ll figure it out. Not sure I can get it all done, but we’ll see. A lot depends on Otis.
Then I need to think about what will be planted there. OK, transplanted. I’m not buying anything new, but I’ve got a lot of stuff that needs to be moved. Plus I bought a couple of trellises for the climbing stuff that I don’t want to lose. I’ll be busy. I should take some pre-emptive tylenol-equivalent.
Happy Tuesday!!
Giving fresh produce to Nine Inch Nails? This modern theology baffles me sometimes.
Household trash and recycling has been gathered and loaded into my car. I don’t think I could fit another item in there - trunk, back seat, front seat. The convenience center opens in about 7 minutes which is about how long it takes me to get there.
Then once I return, the dirt work will be done. Theoretically.
Mornin’ everyone.
It’s 49F and sunny out. Temps will reach around 80F this afternoon, but it’ll also be humid and muggy. They are projected overnight thunderboomers as the clouds move in later today.
Mollie, I’m glad the conversation went so well. They’ll probably both take some time to absorb the info and may come back with questions later.
Mom was admitted to the SNF yesterday afternoon. I have to stop by her house today and pick up some clothes. She’ll need workout-style clothes, so if she doesn’t have anything like that at her house, I guess I’ll make a trip to Wally World. I also have to sign some paperwork when I get to the SNF, although I provided verbal agreement for her to continue receiving nighttime sleep aids.
Yesterday was kind of shot for me. My right eye had been bothering me pretty much since Friday or Saturday, and yesterday, it was all goopy when I woke up. When I showered yesterday morning, I saw two little pus spots in my lower lid. Also, I had a pouch under my eye that seemed to be growing in size by the day.
So, we went off to urgent care. I suspected a stye (which I’ve never had in my life), but thought it best to check it out. It took us longer to get to urgent care than I spent checking in, being assessed, and obtaining my antiobiotic ointment at the pharmacy. They were fast, and I was right about the stye/blocked ducts.
By the time we left, it was heading on to 2:30, so by the time we would have gotten home, swapped vehicles, and then driven down to the nursery, we would have run into the beginning and middle sections of rush hour. So, we’ll probably go tomorrow instead.
Once I got home, I started applying hot compresses every so often, but this morning I woke up to an extra goopy eye, plus the sack had grown exponentially. More hot compress, light massage, and then the ointment.
I’m going to stop by a drugstore to get a reusable microwaveable compress.
Anyway, hopefully by the time I leave this morning, the swelling will have gone down a little.
The garbage and recycling bins were dragged down to the curb last night. I expect to hear the garbage truck within the next couple of hours. They used to come about now, but they arrive later and later now.
Time for another hot compress. You all take care of yourselves.
My lovely wife is in England. A friend is staying with me for a long visit to make sure I don’t lift anything over 15#. Today will be warm and dry, so we’ll go birdwatching. Tomorrow looks rainy, so we’ll probably go out to a bookstore, then read by the fireplace with kitties.
ETA:Sorry, **Taters,* that’s no fun. I hope it resolves soon.
Yesterday, Catmom and Abbey were hanging out in the catio. Catmom said a duck came walking across our back yard, followed by twelve ducklings. Unfortunately, she didn’t have her phone with her.
Good morning, all. I went to bed at a reasonable time last night, so I was up and at 'em to walk in a balmy 47ºF. There was a beautiful waxing crescent moon just above the horizon as the sun rose.
Mrs Magill and I discussed last night. She thinks I may have minimized the matter a bit. I’ll have to discuss that with my counsellor tomorrow. I’m no longer worried about my children turning their backs on me, which is something.
Swampy Please don’t give Squeaky any ideas.
Yes. Yes, he is.

Seriously, I hope you feel better. I’ve had a stye once. It was double plus unfun.
Happy Tuesday!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Once I get sheveled, I’ll head out to the supermarket for groceries. Such excitement!
Last night around midnight, while I was reading, I noticed red flashing lights out in the living room. It was an ambulance carting one of my neighbors (Max’s mom) off. She’s been sick and recently hospitalized and, given what she told me, it sounds pretty serious. Her sister has been taking care of her. I hope for the best outcome.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Morning all. For once the bladder behaved and I slept until 7:30am. Have my Drs. appointment at 1:30pm for my annual checkup, will also ask to get my prescriptions refilled so that should take care of much of the afternoon. Fasting now for the inevitable blood drawing, so will be hungry by the time I finish there. Outside of that nothing much on the agenda, dishwasher is about 95% full so may run that today (or tomorrow). Nice clear day, 68F now going to 75F and we should break into the 80’s tomorrow.
Mollie, I usually use da da dum, da da dum…

boo fae, good on the calorie burn. I usually do my cycling around 75-85 rpm and my treadmill at 3.4-3.7mph (5.5-5.9kph). And what manner of madman pressure washes his car at 5am!! Unless he has a very weird work schedule…
swampy, haven’t mowed for about 10 days now, probably will do so this weekend, grass is just not in the real growing stage quite yet. And yeah, my pharmacy acts the same way as yours.
FCM, happy path-building.
Taters, glad to hear Mom got moved, and glad the eye issue is getting prompt attention, but keep an eye (heh) on it.
Lily, a good friend is a jewel.
Flyboy, was the fowl looking for the viaduct?
Mollie , if a kid is weird at least some of the time, your doing the parenting thing wrong (IMHO of course). Just go with the flow.
red, hope the neighbor recovers. Will work on the safe and healthy part.
And back to the morning internetting while keeping a eye on the clock, want to get to the Doc’s office early since Meicare wants a multi-page report filled out every year. Take care all.
All trash and recycling has been dispatched and I made a quick run to Food Lion for a couple of things that I didn’t get yesterday. I’ll have an early lunch shortly, then head out to get dirty.
What I really want to do is crash in my recliner, but I’ll be all adult and do some yard work. Dammit.
Vhy not a duck?
Via not a duct?
He didn’t actually say, ‘Why not a duck’. But here’s where it’s from. ![]()
She’s been inactive for nearly a year, in my estimation. Put on a lot of weight. Then recently she started having pain in her upper arms. She’s now going to PT once a week and doing mild exercises to try to rectify the issue. She’s not depressed, as far as I can tell, but is feeling a bit ‘useless’ and has low energy. I know that the prospect of turning 80 later this year is weighing on her mind.
We were going to do the gardening store today, but I’m hearing mumblings again about not going. I’ll likely take a walk later just to get out of this apartment and perhaps make a run to the grocery for a few things. Lots of leftover Chinese food in the fridge. Made a giant breakfast burrito this morning with Jimmy Dean sausage, eggs and Hatch peppers.
(re: singing “Jurassic Park” theme) Maybe the kid should be introduced to Weird Al’s version :).
Thinking bad thoughts about those of YOU who live within driving distances of Waffle House and not going there for eats. I’ve only been to one WH, the one on Newtown Pike in Lexington KY.
Looks like it’s gonna rain. I haven’t ironed the clean doll clothes. The doll is on my dresser in her underpants…
