Yep, go you!!!. So glad to hear from you~cardiac rehab is going to make you feel better than you have in years.
Go out for walks in the sunshine with your lovely bride as soon at the docs/rehab folks give you the go ahead. Our sun came out today to celebrate you getting to come home.
Off to finish sheveling, in preparation to be off selling/making/baking(?) more pizzas. I told Sweet Manager if I don’t run the ovens again soon, imma forget how. I was only half-kidding.
Meanwhile, Monkey will be in charge of the house while I’m gone … looks like my papazan chair is in no danger of floating away.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, had a McN.O.L., achieved day drinkin’ and are now in chill mode. Plus the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Tomorrow night is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. All is well.
Hippie yay for bein’ home!
Everyone else, I did read all but cannot comprehend at the moment, so yays, boos, hugs, noogies, chitlins, trouts and how you doin’s all around, as needed.
There are others you’ll see if you look at those Oh, and did you see I got the embossed rolling pins?
Today, December 17, is a day that is still special to me. It was my maternal grandmother’s birthday. Esther Lura (Kasson) Lietz was born Dec 17, 1904, one year to the day after the Wright brothers flew at Kitty Hawk. She lived to vote in the 2012 elections. I could tell so many stories about her, but if I chose just one it would be this. She was the one person in the world I would alter my behavior for. One year I was wearing a Christmas sweatshirt, it had a stable scene, star above, people looking in, camels and all that. A voice coming out the door hollered “It’s a girl!” Grandma saw it and was worried about what I believed and I explained to her “It’s just a joke” But she worried.still, so I never wore it again where she could see it. I didn’t even do stuff like that for my parents, whom I also loved dearly. I miss her still, and look forward to seeing her again someday.
Good evening all. Got the two loads of laundry done and pedaled more than I planned on at the gym (they have mini-TV’s on the bikes and the Cleveland Browns took it down to the last seconds, so I had to keep pedaling…). Dinner at the Metro Diner was good and the Publix had a copy of the Sunday NY Times on hand so I have reading/puzzle material for the next several days. At 46F now, heading down to 34F tonight, the rest of the week will have high’s in the 50’S and lows in the 30’s, so beginning to feel a little more like winter here in N. Ali-bama.
Heading out on Saturday to spend Xmas with brother, SIL and their kids. Will be in Eastern Kansas, so flying rather than driving, not sure what the weather will be like that time of year. Already have air, car and hotel booked, so no problem there. Now if the weather cooperates…
Man, some of you (looking at Pilot and shoe) can write whole novels here… Actually not a bad thing, lets me catch up with everyone before I just repeat things already noted. But it does give me something to do in the evenings…
I get my cute overload from watching the 4-5 year olds learn soccer. Keeping their attention for more than a few seconds can be tough, we have a guy who absolutely loves working with the littles and does a fantastic job with them.
Running about $2.79 here. I suspect, like me, Cat Glove collects Kroger points, so I figure she got at least $1.00/gallon off.
I think you’re right on it, have been watching my calories and been working out more than normal, just the drop of about 2.5-3lbs in 3 days surprised me a bit, the usual weekly weigh-ins have been about 1lb. or so up or (mostly) down, will be interested in seeing where the scale stops tomorrow.
I think we would get along just fine. As for the Xmas carols, you haven’t lived until you’ve heard them playing thoughout a giant mall…in the middle of Arabia…
Real Fish, {{ }} for Mom’s problems; but happy to hear the boys are doing better. As for the haircut, never have had long hair (I was a crew-cut kid in my teens as that was the only haircut my mom knew) and now having any up there is a struggle.
JtC, that’s an…fascinating…taste in music. Did like the last one best.
hippie, welcome home. So glad things are going so well. Take care now.
Cupcakes, a nice story about a person you obviously cared deeply for. And I can now aspire to living to 108.
Whew. think I’m pretty much caught up. Take care all and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
Well, she missed 108 by about three weeks. But she voted at home, with the help of a great granddaughter. I think my vote and hers canceled each other out, if the McCain/Palin sticker on her wheelchair was accurate, but the important thing was to vote.
Evening here. Happily dawdled the morning away, then Her Ladyship went to a library ladies’ brunch then to Daughter’s for social & dinner.
Bachelor me launched off for the beach, unsure whether that would quite work. But it was the best opportuity of the last week or next week, so now or never. The surf was spectacular by our standards, with the unusual offshore breeze shaving the top off each breaking wave and sending spray backwards out towards the turquoise sea. Very photogenic.
It was just not quite warm enough, just a bit too windy, and just a bit too cloudy to enjoy for long. If any one of those had been more favorable it would have worked. But in the shade of patchy clouds and being intermittently sand-blasted by the breeze in the almost warm enough to be undressed air it was … almost fun.
So after a decent while I quit, headed down-beach to a tourist zone, and settled in with cocktails and wings out of the breeze to watch the parade of tourists. Life is good.
Home now as is Her Ladyship. Might snack before bed and might not. Gonna be cooler tonight, maybe 58/15. At least the wind is fading.
Trying now for less of a magnum opus catching up on just a few hours of all y’all, not a couple days!
I could probably sense the disturbance in the Force from here after you open that cabinet. Yikes!
The good news is Monkey could help you find the hiding snakes. The bad news is you’d better be fast, lest the snakes find Monkey. Constrictors are good at their work.
{{Realfish}}. Always bad lurks with the good. Hooray for CtE, but sorry for Mom. Hooray for Partner, sorry about failed PT appointment.
Reminds me of a sign I saw today in a shop: “Whether the glass is half empty or half full, either way there’s room for more wine.” If you take “wine” metaphorically as whatever brings you supportive peace, there’s always room in your glass for more. And we’re happy to help top you up if we can.
Those truth-lite folks are tiresome for sure. If she’s the sole gatekeeper to some / all of the grands that sucks even more.
Yaay for that!! Boo for the rest of the Boo-family COVID story.
I too am a whiz at preventing chairs from floating around the room. Doin’ it right now in fact. I’m better than a cat because I can hold down an ottoman at the same time. But not better than three cats because they can hold down a chair, an ottoman, and a couch all at once.
Flyboy: So MINGED GARLIG? Sounds yummy. I use bottled minged garlig a lot. The minor degradation from fresh just isn’t that important in most sauces, stews, etc.
What a touching memory. She’s proud of you, that’s for sure.
If you substitute “dork” for “cute” and “dancing” for “soccer” you know my challenge. My ability to stay focused is toddler-level pitiful. I too need a coach who can succeed with the 4-5yo age group.
A gallon of water weighs very roughly 8#. So just a quart is roughly 2#. If you under- or over-hydrate slowly over a couple days you won’t notice any sensation of excessive thirst or peeing. At least that’s true for me. I’d bet on you seeing reversion to the mean here pretty quick.
Yaay for Kansas trip. Not too far from Taters’ kids in western MO. Dress warm.
The NWS forecast page for any location has pretty good temps and weather for a week into the future. I lived by that page when I was working. So check a couple days before you go and you’ll know about what to pack. National Weather Service and put bro’s city or zip in the upper left not-so-obvious little search box that says “Local forecast”. Pro tip: Once you get the results page, if you read downwards in the “Detailed Forecast” section it goes a couple days farther into the future than does the obvious horizontal display of weather icons just above that section.
I’ve heard of it raining cats and dogs, and I’ve even heard of it raining men, but by Jiminy I ain’t never heard a’ no rainin’ poke loins. Quick everbody, git outside an’ bring a bucket witcha. We gonna have us a feast!!!1!!1
I have seen them being made on cooking shows and my first thought has always been “Pretty! Super thin slice please!!!” cause it looks so very rich.
Both of you have been working really hard on time sensitive things. Now that things have quieted down to a quiet roar, maybe both of you should take a few days to do as close to nothing as possible. You both deserve some down time after the last couple of months and burnout really is a thing.
I am not a doctor and don’t like watching medical shows…but I am the unhappy owner of a hip bursa. It has been over 10 years and hasn’t resolved itself. Surgery would include back surgery and I’m a weenie, so I’ve taken up Tai Chi instead. That really has worked much better FOR ME than the many rounds of PT I’ve taken. And of course I smoke a bunch of weed to keep myself in a happy, don’t give a shit mood.
I really do hope you get better results.
Lily has mentioned taking fast drying unders on her cruises, have you looked into them?
I also print out everything for my trip. While I’m fairly sure that I won’t need it (never have in the past) it makes me feel better
Well darn. I hope things pick up over the week, you don’t want your store front spot to go away with the pet store. Plus you need money for the critters.
You are a very kind and thoughtful person!
Now that you are retired, you have time to contact the Visit | The Peregrine Fund aka The World Center for Birds of Prey. They are the ones responsible for saving the falcons after their DDT caused population drop and they are still heavily involved in relocating birds to favorable homesites. You might be able to have a few brought to your building so they can hunt and thrive in different canyons.
Manhattan has one of the largest populations of Peregrine falcons, so precedent has been set.
I usually avoid speaking bad of someone’s Special Other, but boo on her! Disney parades are boring, local parades are always different and entertaining in so many ways.
Scripted parades are also very nice, but not nearly as much fun. Mom took us kids to Pasadena a couple of years so we could help decorate the floats for the Rose Parade. She stopped the year we watched a couple of grown ups have total meltdowns over the wrong color of roses and destroy every single blossom they could get their hands on.
That was the last entertaining scripted parade I saw.
Oh, it is great! The tall wood fence isn’t because we don’t want people looking into our yard, it’s so that if a car drives by while I’m sitting in the yard, I don’t get light blinded. We don’t have Flagstaff quality dark, and the Phx glow grows on the horizon every year, but it is still dark even if we don’t drive to the other side of the ridge.
The amazing talent they seem to have is knowing just when the happy noise goes bad and suddenly comforting arms surround the upset little and the party goes on. Tis magic!
Oh it was terrible, their only other options were the people beds or recliners or loveseat or kitty trees, but I just HAD to be so mean!!!
GG is such a drama queen, LOL!
I give them each their own mylar wrapping sheet. That keeps them happy longer than the tissue paper I used to give them pre-mylar.
I had boy short hair since I was in my late 20’s. I had waist long blond hair until then just wanted a change. I took my Roxette CD to the hairdresser and pointed at Pers and told her that was what I wanted. I loved it and kept it short until I ended up in a cube again. Then it was too cold.
Short hair rocks, there are so many options. Long hair is like…long and just there.
IMHO.
It’s a hard job, but somebody’s got to do it!
I’m glad Monkey is enjoying his furry ball, boys and their balls can be super entertaining at times!
I had to got and look to be sure I hadn’t missed anything. I just love his commentary and imagination.
Thanks for the songs, sometimes I wonder what HPL would think about what has happened to his mythos. I’ve done enough geek research to think that he didn’t have much of a sense of humor, so might feel a little conflicted about his very serious screeds being made light of…but on the other hand, he is famous now which he really wanted when he was alive. Just maybe not this way.
Your GGrandma sounds like a delightful person, enjoy your memories
