(Old) It’s Time For A New MMP

I was loading Top Red on the 300 today, with a short foray into Secondary Sort. Damage included another $100 Home Despot LED light and an Artificial olive tree. In the Overgoods we had the wheel and tire off a '64 Impala lowrider

And one of Ea-Nasir’s inferior copper ingots

I did my Senior Day shopping, and picked up some Yuengling and coffee for the week.

:grimacing:

You just made it.

I, Paul called to be a mechanic of cars by Chrysler send greeting to the FairyChats and ask you to be patient as we have a backlog of vehicles…

Today, I got my replacement checks that I ordered last week. There are 4 books. My last book, which is still not quite done, has lasted about 6 years. So I think it’s safe to say that the ones I just got will last till I die…

Tonight is a veggie supper - corn on the cob, ‘maters, cukes, and (for FCD) radishes. Plus some leftover cauliflower. How healthy is that???

I finally got around to putting my cruise photos in folders, but I forgot to get FCD to download his, so once he does, I’ll have ‘em all. And they’ll sit in memory just like the pics from Antarctica and the Panama Canal, and Bermuda… Why do I take pics??

OK, to the kitchen.

Happy Thursday!

I’m a happy girl because the Weather Powers That Be changed the forecast from the upper 80s to the upper 70s. I can live with that.

I dog sat Ms. Dog the night before and day of the big move. She’d been a nervous wreck, as dogs are wont to be when sensing change and wouldn’t eat or relieve herself, but once I got her here and settled down, she ate a bunch and pooped a bunch, so her person was right to get her out of the madness.

My sister-in-law passed all her driving tests. I have no idea how. I’m guessing she was just super-careful on the road with the examiner there. Maybe they didn’t require her to change lanes or stay between the lines or anything.

I had kind of an odd encounter with another complex resident this morning. I barely know her, but she’s very anxious to get to know me. I’m hoping she’s just a normal person who’s lonely and not someone who’s collecting bodies in her basement or recruiting for The Order of Heavenly Armaments.

My hairs have been trimmed. Why is it when I go to a salon, I spend the rest of the day looking like a politician’s wife? Maybe I should put on a dress, invent a husband, and stand outside a supermarket shaking hands and saying, “Elmer would sure appreciate your vote in November.”

Taters, I always think of you at state fair time. Some years back when I was still driving, I met son and DIL in your town for lunch, as it was the halfway point between our homes. Unfortunately, it was fair time. I had to drive around forever to find a spot, and traffic was slow but insane. I don’t know how you do it.

If anyone’s in the market for a hubcap, the harvest is in.

Afternoon to all of you. Car has had it’s oil and filters changed, cost a bit more than I remember it being, but tis’ done. Then gym time and now need to change to my coaching apparel and go try to keep up with the littles for an hour or so. Garbage bin is back in it’s accustomed spot, as is my neighbors, they are out of town today and asked if I would move it off the street for them (which I have done unbidden several times earlier). Cloudy outside and while the Weather Wizards are saying there is no rain to be had, I don’t know…

But it is deep-fried, I bet…

Cookie, I feel for you and all the local residents who never expect tragedy to strike so close to home.

FCM, may Paul’s call not be to traumatizing. And I have three books of checks, I may not outlive them but I’ll give it a try. And you take pictures to keep us all entertained, silly!

nellie, cool is always, well, cool. Glad you are calming Ms. Dog, I made friends with an adopted Lab at the garage today, the owners were a bit surprised as she usually is shy with people (apparently she was ill-treated in her early years) but was quite happy to get some scritches from me. And there are people out there (meet them in the gym) who just have to talk with somebody–anybody.

And time to get into the gym shorts and soccer stuff and get ready to go forth an coach the youth of America again.

Hey everyone, I hope your days were good.

Mine didn’t suck that much. The dentist was nice and I didn’t leave drooling on myself. I got the estimates for my plate and two fillings (one new, one to be removed and replaced) and now I’m going to have to buy some needlepoint kits to console myself.

It looks like most of the hummingbirds have migrated for the year. They aren’t draining the feeders daily and they are cooperating at the feeders more than usual.

I hope it didn’t get damaged, that sort of thing isn’t easy to find anymore.

We’ve had the windows open for the past couple of days and I’m finding all sorts of random dust/fur balls in odd places. Our cleaner is good about sticking her dust mop under the furniture, but she can’t get what she can’t see.

We drove by the state fair last month, the crowded parking lots didn’t attract us. We will be going to the town fair next month. I don’t know how much the rides cost, we mostly only go for the gardening displays and the food trucks.

Thank you. While I knew that things were going to go to shit, I never thought that I would be losing one of my main stress relievers. I should probably take a drive to Virginia and buy some pot seeds, cultivation is legal there. Just in case that gets taken away too.

NOOOOO!!! Stop doing that, you are worrying everyone.

Do you think adding some of that disgusting looking dog food gravy might add a few ounces? We always try to feed our fuzzbutts good quality food, but when they are in their end days…they get whatever they want whenever they want.

I’m glad the trip went as well as possible, please continue being safe.

My car is just over 50K, but we mostly use Hub’s car. His is over 120K and he really wants to get something new. Like a he-man truck or 4-wheel drive SUV. We are at a impasse over that, I didn’t want to live right on the highway, he said that if we are on a semi-busy road that gets plowed, we won’t need a 4-wheel vehicle.

We’ve been here a year and haven’t once gotten stuck or had to turn around because we didn’t have 4-wd and his car gets 35 mph.

I’m also enjoying the cooler weather. It’s been a few months since we were able to open the windows, this has been so nice.

Is Mrs Dog leaving you? I must have missed that part. I do hope not, both of them will miss you I’m sure.

Taters, I looked up our county fair and it’s $5 per person and $5 for parking with extra deals for seniors and little ones. Personally, though, I think our fair is minuscule and boring. I’ve been there twice with school field trips which were no fun whatsoever. Looking back upon it, though, I guess I should be grateful that it is such a small area as I’d hate to have to watch children in a bigger plot of land.

Hugs for Bailey!

Today has been a whirlwind. Meetings, concerned parents, handyman, and my cleaning girls are still here. I am ready for the weekend, definitely.

Paul was telling me that for the big-ass RAM pickups, there are 2 very expensive oil filters, plus synthetic oil, with the total for an oil change around $700!! But if you can afford a truck for $80K, that should be pocket change, right? And apparently some of his customers do buy the top-of-the-line truck.

Sadly, we decided the corn was old, which shouldn’t have been a surprise. Most of what is in the fields is acres of browness. The outside of the 4 I bought looked good, but inside, not so much. They tasted OK, but the texture was, well, old.

Dishwasher is sloshing away. FCD has nothing to do tomorrow so I don’t have to feel guilty about staying home doing laundry. I went on the CVS site to book our flu and covid shots - the earliest I could get is next Thursday. Maybe we’ll mosey over and see if we can get shot as walk-ins.

That’s the excitement du jour. My recliner beckons!!

Howdy Y’all! We brunched and went to Food Kitty. Then I went and did candle duty and stopped at Michael’s, where I bought a thingy of cord for beadin’. I now have a necklace/lanyard thing for my Cross. I made it myself. I feel so crafty! The thingy of cord is ten yards of cord. I managed not to unravel the whole thing from the cardboard it’s wrapped around. Go Me! I will give the rest of the cord and the lanyard thingy that came with the Cross to my goddaughter and her mom as they use stuff like that for crafts. I also finally wrote and mailed a thank you note to Bob for the cross. I waited almost two weeks! My mother and grandmothers are frownin’ down at me, I just know it.

The local regional fair is the first week in November. I have never been and don’t foresee breakin’ the streak this year. As a kid I always went to the county fair in ye olde Hometowne. As a teenager it lost its appeal. The Jawja NATIONAL, not state, but NATIONAL, don’t ask me why, fair is sometime in October. I have been a couple of times but it’s been years.

I’VE BEEN WAITING ALL DAY FOR SUNDAYTHURSDAY NIGHT!!!
Yep College handegg is back, the Wolfpack are playing!
Also, I’m having a Royal Hawaiian, with Baked Fried Chicken, cheesy tater rounds, and sauteed green beans with Hatch chilies.

I’d join if recruits get a Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. :bomb: Also, if you do end up in the basement with a bottle of lotion, blink twice to let us know.

The N.C. State Fair is the same week as the start of hockey season. So the Canes go on a long West Coast road trip . Except every 10 years they hold a game during the Fair, which reminds everybody why they go on a 2 week road trip every year.

I missed that too.

??? I’m guessing breaded and sprayed with oil then into the oven? Recipe plz.

Miss Peach has been very good in her crate while I’m at work so far this week. She’s a wiggly swarm of a dog when I get home, but immediately runs to the door to go out to do dog business. I might have mentioned already, I think she may be a bull-whip. Whippet pit bull mix. Mom is definitely full Pittie, and about twice Peach’s size.

We went out to eat after my daughter’s graduation a couple years ago. A fried egg was an option on their hamburgers, so I ordered one. Picked it up, took a bite, and got egg yolk all over the front of my shirt.:frowning: :frowning: Called the waitress over and told her to take it back to the [expletive deleted] guy who was supposed to have cooked it and tell him to do his [expletive deleted] job. Then had to use a ridiculous amount of napkins to clean up.

You never noticed Tommy’s guitar and Dick’s bass? My sister had a few of their records when I was a kid. There was plenty of comedy mixed in with the singing.

What are you protesting?

Poor girl. Skritches from Nelson and me.

I spent most of the afternoon putting my paper rack together. However, when I began to put the paper padds in, it swayed. Where I had it in the old apartment, it was on the wall between the printer cart and the die cut stand, stabilizing it. Now I’m thinking that I may have to go 2 cubes by 2 cubes instead of 4 high.

Maintenance was in and out working on the fridge. The freezer works fine, but the thermostat in the fridge is wonky. They’ve ordered a new thermostat and if that doesn’t work, they’ll bring another one. I’m keeping insulin, lunch meat and mayo in an insulated bag with a blue pack inside the fridge until they get it running well. It sucks having to put off buying groceries until I can str them properly.

Now for chillage.

Mexican food tonight, which means I’ll probably gain five pounds overnight. (Maybe not. I didn’t have any rice.) Mi Esposa had a shredded beef tamale, shredded beef enchilada, beans, chips, and mojitos (two each). I had carnitas de res, some chips and beans, and grande Cadillac margaritas (two each). Both of us are stuffed.

ETA: I also had a grilled jalapeño.

I replied to a Farcebook post about David Gilmour:

David Gilmour says Russia was ‘provoked’ into their illegal invasion of Ukraine. Ah… No. Putin is trying to rebuild the Soviet Union, and launched an illegal war of aggression. I have lost all respect for Gilmour.

I got a  from Romany Gilmour.

How much time do you have? I bought my Handmaid uniform because I care about women’s reproductive rights despite being way past menopause. Thanks to the trump taxes, needlepoint needles are almost five dollars a six-pack. The specialty thread industry is going to collapse and I don’t think that people should be violently attacked for the sin of walking down the street while wearing brown skin. I could go on and on, but this is the mump and I will restrain myself.

I’m back and trying to de-sweat. Holy inflation, batman! Fruit prices, especially berries, are insane! I usually buy at Costco, but I ran through them. (I have fruit on my oatmeal every morning because I’m all healthy like that.) I have to leave in a little while to get cat care instructions from Charlie the Chill Dog’s person.

This intrigued me, so I looked it up. It’s the NATIONAL fair because it’s the best darn fair in the whole darn nation, and don’t you forget it. In other words, it’s part self-aggrandizement, kind of like the baseball team that calls itself “America’s team.” It sounds like a humdinger of a fair, though.

And your mother and grandmothers are smiling on you now because you got the note mailed.

I blink a lot. If I blink 147 times, will you know what that means?

So sorry. I thought I’d posted about that. She’s moving, but only a 15-minute walk away. Her person, who’s a lawyer for the state AG, bought a house. I’ll miss having Ms. Dog mere yards away, but I’ll still see her and vice-versa. She has a fenced-in yard now, which will be a thrill for her, as she’s never had one before.

I keep making friends here, and they keep moving away. I feel like the old stage door keeper: “I’ve seen ‘em come, and I’ve seen ‘em go.”

Oopsie, I’m sorry Bailey’s losing weight. Tell her I said, “Mangia, mangia! Put a little meat on those bones!” (Bailey: Did someone say ‘bones’?”) Sending scritches and good wishes!

I expect most of ours will start migrating soon. It amazes me how they do it, what with all that sipping they have to do en route. It must be like driving to Patagonia with little kids who want to stop to eat or pee every 2 miles. We do have one variety called Anna’s hummingbirds that stay year-round, though.

In Az, our Anna’s stayed year round too. In the winter, we would bring the feeders inside and then Hubs would hang them out at first light. We could tell that the flying jewels liked sipping some room temp nectar first thing in the morning.

Will you still be walking Mrs. Dog (and making money) or just visiting once in a while?

If you have freezer room, buy frozen fruit for later. Right now there is pre-hate stock in the warehouses, once that’s gone the prices will also skyrocket.

Which was well deserved.

If that is the worse part of your move, you have chosen a great apartment. Hopefully, they will get things figured out soon.

Now I’m remembering their cover shot. I thought they were just props, but most of their humor was adult stuff and I had other better things to do than sit on the couch and watch TV. We were free range kids and I had a 10-speed. The world was mine!

What a good girl! She knows that you don’t poop where you sleep.

Sometimes being an adult just sucks. I’m glad you got through it and hope you enjoy your weekend!

So after ruining my day by going to the dentist, I further ruined it by looking at the country of origin for my stitching supplies. Almost nothing is made in the US.

I called my favorite designer (because she hasn’t managed to convince her webpage to take any payment method but paypal) and she was in tears. She’s losing her business over this and doesn’t have any other marketable skills. Plus, she’s in her early 50’s, this is when she should be saving aggressively for her retirement.

I spent a quarter of my flip money with her and will probably call her back in a few days when I know how much money I have left after buying needles and canvas. (Swiss and Canadian)

The forest is starting to lose the vibrant green it has had for the last couple of months and I can see the colors starting to change. Being able to see color and light is wonderful, I highly recommend it.

Hubs had his eyes checked on Monday and it was the first time he’s ever been dilated. I don’t understand how that could have happened, he has gotten his eyes checked several times since he got old and I thought that was always part of the comprehensive exam. He likes LensCrafters and I’ve never been to them, so maybe that’s just how they roll.

I have just made a note to call my doctor tomorrow to get my covid shot. It will not be six months, but I want to get it now.

80K is a mid-range truck nowadays. I’ve spoken to people who put out more than a hundred for them. Insane IMHO, but it is their money, not my business.

After 9pm so time for the late-night final. Soccer practice went well, keeping the boy’s attention is the hardest thing, a couple of them can’t stop talking and another can’t keep his mind on soccer for more that 10-15 seconds (I exaggerate, but it seems that way). Despite that the boys are good kids and I’m enjoying coaching them. Then home to grilled ham-n-cheesers with some pudding cups and an apple for dessert, so belly is happy with me again. With that exercise I’ll probably head off to bed early tonight.

And there must be 50 ways to scroll the Mumpers…

JtC, glad the dental visit wasn’t too unpleasant. And Hubs could do as I am thinking of doing, look for a Hybrid SUV, good mileage and fewer fill-ups. And I am sorry to hear about your designers woes, I suspect she won’t be the only one affected.

FCM, the biggest part of my cost was I let them talk me into replacing a couple of filters; the air filter wasn’t too pricey, but in-car cabin air filter was nearly half the bill. Still, they hadn’t been replaced in quite awhile so probably was worth doing. Thanks for the reminder, need to get my shots booked, either Walgreens or Kroger, since I’m coaching kids the sooner the better.

swampy, glad you have the cross-carrier sorted out.

doggio, looks like NC State sweated out a win against those dastardly Pirates of East Carolina.

VanGo, pittie and whippet should make for an interesting mix.

Herald, I’ve never had egg on my hamburger and probably never will. But I think (from pictures I’ve seen) that they are supposed to be a littel runny,

red, may the fridge repair go fast and well.

nellie, doing my September re-stocking tomorrow, will see if there is noticeable sticker shock.

That you have a scratched cornea? (used to get them regularly).

And that’s all I have the energy for. See y’all on Firday (which reminds me, I need to write up my shopping list). Take care.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Spot got a manicure tonight
Spot:

Chicken thigh marinated in buttermilk and a little liquid smoke(6-8 hours), breaded in breadcrumb mix(breadcrubs, tsp of cornstarch, cayenne pepper, sage, celery salt), sprapy butter flavored cooking spray, cook at 400 till done.

I won’t understand till you reach Blink 182.

Announcer: “He’s the kicker because he won the training camp kicking contest”
Kicker: < shanks 3 sub 40yard field goal attempts >
Gonna be a long season.
