If shes savvy enough to read posts, she can also cancel the appointment.
I’m surprised Buddy didn’t pull that a time or two, since he anticipated appointments mentioned here and hid.
The lack of opposable thumbs prevents her from using the phone or picking up the iPad….
Years ago, I was a Shriner. One summer Wednesday night at the Shrine Club, I saw a friend with a cross mark on his forehead, and I said, “Isn’t it a little late for Ash Wednesday?” He smiled and explained it was a locator mark for radiation treatments he was getting.
It’s been snowing for a while here. It’s not accumulating, though, because it’s 34F.
Mooom wrote, “I noticed my purse is starting to deteriorate so I decided to do an online search for a replacement. I must ask - WTF is vegan leather?? Is it what we called vinyl in the olden days?” Hey, cows are vegan, aren’t they?
Gr8Kat, welcome home!
I’ve been using a Camelbak Eddy water bottle for years. I’ve replaced the bite-valve nozzle a few times.
Not all cows are vegan, it appears. The link is just one of quite a few stories I’ve seen about cows eating meat.
Semi-related: in some instances squirrels will actively hunt voles. I’ve also heard of deer being observing hunting small animals or birds.
Howdy Y’all! Today I have accomplished havin’ soup for N.O.L. (Instead of sup, we went rogue), nappage, readin’, and day drinkin’. Now I need to rest up so I have energy enough for Netflix, chill and popcorn. Have I mentioned lately how much I love bein’ a RDOS?
Hubs used to compete and fooled me into thinking he would save money by reloading his own ammo. I was young, OK? I certainly wouldn’t fall for that “save money by doing it myself” nonsense again.
Gun shows were the best source of reloading supplies around so we went to many. He didn’t buy guns at gun shows, gun purchases were carefully thought out and bought from a dealer after being test fired.
He’s had his CCW since the first year they became available in AZ and continued to keep it up even when AZ said anyone over 18 could carry a gun however they want. He doesn’t need one in WV, but I know he’s been looking at another class.
The focus of the classes is always gun safety and how to avoid having to use your firearm along with all of the laws and horrible civil penalties that come with irresponsible gun ownership.
I go to gun safety classes every couple of years for the brush up. There are guns in my home and I need to be able to safely handle them.
Ain’t that the truth.
While pounding the pavement today, I have decided I am going to do what I do best and ignore and deny my hip pain. Nice terpy Indica will help. I know why my hip is screaming and I know what I need to do to make it stop. If I’m not going to stop doing what makes it hurt, I have to stop whining about it.
I did find out that the pool was open at 0600 so I will probably start getting up earlier and doing some laps before going to the the picket lines in the hopes of warming it up with some low resistance laps first.
I thought about one, but the rescue really wants their dogs in a fenced yard. I get it, especially with us living right off the highway, but I’m not going to put an old blind dog out in the yard unattended anyhow. Of course, they don’t know us well enough to be sure that we really do spoil our pets as much as we say so I get that too.
Did you hear about trump twittering threats about jailing and/or deporting people for protesting? That is encouraging to me, that means he is starting to notice that not everyone thinks he’s their favorite president.
The courts are starting to rule against him and some of the supremes have figured out that Kings don’t need judges so if they don’t do something to stop him, they will get DOGEd themselves.
Today I was talking to a recently laid off WV miner who said he was sorry he voted for trump. I’m sure that’s because he lost his job over tariffs but it was still nice to hear.
We made sure there were no steps involved here. Most of the stick built homes here are two story which made looking more complicated.
Happy birthday Boofae!
What a bother, it would truly bite to have to have more blood drawn. I’ve been told that they don’t need all of the blood they draw, they take more than needed in case they have to test twice.
I hope your day was great! It was in the low 40’s today so I was a very lumpy Handmaid.
Wow, thank you for the reminder. This is also something new but not so enjoyable about living back here. I’m sure glad I’m retired and the time change won’t bother me nearly as much as you working stiffs.
I agree with you though. I did even when we were in AZ. Just pick a time and stop changing things. The cows don’t care as long as they get milked on a regular schedule.
I hope it goes well!
So today we had our new range hood installed. I’m not sure why we didn’t have it done while we were having the rest of the kitchen redone, but apparently it slipped between the cracks. Anyhow, the new one is lovely and has four bright lights and is super quiet. We had the light over the sink replaced and that is much nicer as well. I really hope we will be able to have the insulation done later this year, once that is done we should be good for at least 15 years.
Well, except for painting. The walls are all the same off white and I want some color. If we are going to paint, I also want to replace some of the closet doors at the same time, but that can wait until things settle down.
Grass fed beef do consume insects when they’re grazing. Grain fed also consume some insects in their feed.
He’s being smart. While I never have had a CCW, I transferred my regular carry permit when I moved from Indiana. I still keep that up, even though Tennessee no longer requires one for open carry. Every couple of months, I go to the range to target shoot (I won’t have a tool around the house that I’m not a practiced user) and every decade or so, take a gun safety class. I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older, I have to make some concessions to my style because of vision and reflex changes.
I was sorely disappointed at my foray into Joann’s. Online, the prices are 90% off, but they listed nothing under papercraft. I went into the store looking to score some cardstock. Almost nothing was more than 20% off, which is less than their usual cyclical sales. Oh, well.
I went to the grocery outlet while I was in the 'Boro. Replenished some pantry items, the snack jars, both human and canine and found a good sale on yogurt, butter and plant based butter (I’m doing vegan colcannon for the tea tomorrow, given that one of our crew doesn’t do animal products). The fridge and pantry are well stocked and now, I’ll kick back.
I thought I’d pop over to my Trump cultist friend’s FB page to see what conspiracy theories she’s promoting today. One was something like ‘Elon Musk eposes secret NASA diabetes cure!’ Um… What? So I googled. I didn’t find what she was talking about, because the first return I saw looked interesting.
“With Type 2 diabetes, we discovered that the molecule we want to use in a pill was doubling the number of beta cells after just seven days of treatment.”
The results were similar against Type 1 diabetes, with “an expansion of beta cell mass and regeneration, and also a protection of beta cells,” he adds.
“These findings were extremely exciting,” he adds. “We now know that we can cure or prevent Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in mice with this molecule, and we are cautiously optimistic for what it could mean for people with diabetes.”
So I guess having a lunatic friends can turn up interesting articles!
If only someone would invent a pill that regenerates nerves, so I can un-paralyse my toe. (Nerve damage in a skiing accident in high school.)
Stolen from my daughter’s FB feed:
Walking home from a play date this evening, Tobias runs past me and says “See you at the finish line!”
I walked to the future place of business. This time the boss was there. I got his contact number so I can ask him when the onboarding will come. I was hired a week ago.
Hey, Rodent . I recommend you consider protective gear, if American soccer-enthusiast kids are anything like their German counterparts.
Good evening all. After dithering the rest of the morning and into the afternoon, I went and got my hair cut, it took them about 10-12 minutes, there is not much left up there, but I should be good for awhile. The picked up my dry cleaning (I am now re-pants) and did some swimming, so a fairly active day for me. Home now and finishing a big bowl O’Sallit for my evening repast, to be followed by internettin’, reading and general sloth.
Nettie, didn’t realize DST kicked in this weekend, will have to remember to ‘spring forward’ tomorrow night.
Taters, thanks for the clairification, was a little puzzled.
Wet one, hope the Vee Eee Tee trip was good.
Knots. I presume after your friend explained, that is when the term ‘awkward pause’ was invented…
Nettie, I have never had a child bite me; however, I have taken a fair amount of soccer ball hits to my…nether regions, all of which were accidents…at least I think they were…
And onward into the evening.
Up from naptime, having an aviation and Cioppino for dinner. And I will be working tomorrow, so yay being able to outrun the bill wolves.
"There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.”- Will Rogers
My laundry nook is in the kitchen, so no stairs. Although you need to go up 3 flights of stairs to reach the building handicapped spot.
Holy socks, Batman.
I mean, Friday nights are almost always hectic and weird, but … damn.
S.M. is still out sick, never came in. Sprinkles had some family crisis and left after a coupla hours. Called later just to tie up the manager’s attention all happy that things were okay and it turned out to be a nothingburger, which is of course good news, but I was (privately) like, well, we coulda used an extra pair of hands during a relentless dinner rush, and what the hell could she have done just because her uncle had low blood sugar?
Car(e)less Co-worker is living out of a fleabag motel, had to re-home his cats, looked like death warmed over today (no surprise or judgment on my part) and held out as long as he could … but in the end, it was me, Alternate Manager and the emo teenager, holding down the fort.
Imma have me some soup. So done with today.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/51f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and cloudy. Weather app says “This fucking overcast nonsense is completely shit. Utter fucking bullshit.” It’s bright and shiny outside my window so I’m happy enough. A nice dry day for the drive up to Bradford.
That will be confusing - we don’t change our clocks over here until 30th March! We like routine and predictability so we stick to the last Sunday in March to put the clocks forward, and they go back on the last Sunday in October.
Moooom I saw the FB pic, nice specs!
doggio I’m glad you survived the latest round of layoffs, let’s hope it stays that way.
shoe Glad you survived the night, I hope you get some decent sleep too.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes both here and on FB and thank you for the donations to my fundraiser. I’m very happy to say that there’s just over £200 to go to Little Paws, plus another £20 that people donated direct to them because they don’t want to do it through FB. I had a good day despite having to be at work. 'im indoors made dinner for me and we had a quiet night at home watching a film. I’m up and drinking tea, the cats are fed and the litter trays are clean. I need to get my hair washed and dried then I am making a big breakfast for us before we leave. That will keep us going through this afternoon’s beerverages
Music festival today with seven bands so we need to be on our way by midday so that we’re there in time for the opening act as it’s one we haven’t seen before. I will park at the place we’re staying, then we can go and watch a couple of bands before we go back to check in for the night. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel to the venue and we know the way 'cos we’ve been there before.
The catsitter is coming tonight and tomorrow morning to look after the girlies, so we don’t need to rush back for them. Now all I have to do is work out which band t-shirt I want to wear tonight!
Sounds like a good challenge to have! Happy belated birthday and enjoy the music.
Also have beautiful blue skies, with a touch of haze due to Sahara dust traveling northward (supposedly). If there’s enough dust, the skies will start looking orange, which is a bit odd.
Today is running errands and cooking. Already went to the beverage market, post office and the first grocery store. Will go to two more grocery stores, and then make chili (with beans), raspberry ice cream and some sort of baked good. And maybe a walk.
And hubby’s ready to go, so onward with the day!
We went there yesterday and bought a twenty five yard roll of quilt batting for six dollars a yard, regular price was ten dollars. The shelves were pretty bare but the cashier said that they were expecting a truck load from the warehouse in a few days.
Joanne’s has never had much stock for quilters
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 76 and cloudy. We shall go to the not too shabby Chinese hog trough buffet place for today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities as is our wont.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
Another one of those nights - couldn’t fall asleep till almost 2, woke at 5:30. then fell back to sleep for another 2 hours. Feeling pretty raggedy here.
I need to go back to the eye doc - my glasses are squeezing my head. I’d had them adjusted yesterday, but it’s almost as if they reverted to their original state, so back I go. No other plans yet. I was thinking last night I want to go to Aldi, but this morning, I can’t remember why. Guess it wasn’t all that important.
So the day will be what it will be. Happy Saturday!
