(Old) Mad March Hares in the MMP

I was once offered a full auto AK47 for five hundred dollars in the parking lot at a gun show. The whole transaction seemed to be either a scam or a set up by authorities. Also, I shoot pistol and have no need for a long gun. I wasn’t tempted.

@scareyfaerie

Happy BooFae Day!!!

That stuff is like crack to us. I had to quit buying it, lest we both blimp up!

I wonder if there are any higher-ups in any company who actually drag their butts to where the work is done to see what’s going on. Anonymously, of course. I remember my Navy days when everyone went bat-crap crazy when “The Admiral” came to visit - super-deep cleaning, super shiny shoes, super-hiding of certain things and people. “The Admiral” had absolutely no idea what was really going on. Then, of course, there was much bitching about how those above didn’t understand the reality of our jobs. I’m guessing you work in a similar world.

FCD and I went to a gun show once because he was curious. I hated it - seeing sooooo much hardware just waiting to kill someone. Yes, I know that people like to shoot for sport and others like to collect (I had a boss who collected) but the bottom line is those things were designed and built to kill.

I tried to join the rifle team when I was in college, but I got hit by a bicyclist in a crosswalk and got hurt badly enough that I couldn’t hold the rifle properly in the prone position, so that ended that. Then when I was in the Navy, I tried to get a medal for pistol - HAH! Out of 30 rounds, three hit the paper target, none even close to the bullseye. So, no, I’m not a gun person. Don’t like 'em don’t want one, don’t want to be around 'em. There’s too much armed stoopit out there…

On to less controversial things.

Last night, I was dreaming I stopped at a public facility and found the toilet and surrounding area had been peed upon. I was in desperate need, then woke up in desperate need! :open_mouth: It’s so weird when that happens - thankfully, I always wake in time. And apart from that, I had a good, uninterrupted sleep, so yay!

It’s laundry day - again! Not sure what else is on the agenda. Maybe I’ll get bored enough to go to the thrift store and see if they have any purses. We’re promised another chilly, windy day, so no rakeage will occur. Maybe I’ll organize the stuff that’s been accumulating in the guest room before it becomes an actual walk-in closet. Shortly after MIL died, FCD started shoving stuff in there and shutting the door. Maybe it’s time to un-stuff. There’s an Alexa in there, so I can have music…

Yeah, that might happen.

Happy Firday!!

The right side starts talking to me after about a quarter mile. I suspect there may be some bone-on-bone going on along with the inflamed bursa. Aging is not for wimps.

Preach it. bruthuh!

I just hauled the laundry downstairs, thinking this very thing. I struggle to carry 2 baskets of dirty clothes, so I descend the staircase backwards, sliding the baskets down till I reach the bottom. I can manage to carry them the 15’ from the stairs to the washer, barely.

And that says nothing about failing eyesight and/or hearing, arthritic joints, sporadic brain farts, and, well, other fun things. Which brings to mind a t-shirt I saw back in my foolish youth:

If I’d known I’d live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself…

Outlook and Alexa have become my auxiliary brains.

I do not feel safe having a firearm in my home. The way my brain works, it gives me an option that I don’t need to have available if my brain decides to go sideways.

I’m currently sitting at the dealership waiting to get the oil changed on MusicMan’s car. The floor is very slippery here. I’d be better off without my cane.

I have been feeling very off lately and I don’t like it. I’m trying to add some structure to my life and I’m hoping that will help.

JtC hopefully soon! I’ve got a medical procedure coming up and I think I should be fine as frogs hair after that.

Happy birthday, BooFae!!! I hope you have a great day and weekend!!

Ok, so I’m typing this on my phone so don’t judge me if I messed something up!

Frogs have hair?:frog:

Frog hair is very fine, indeed. So fine, you can’t even see it.

Well, my dad, Lutheran, had a heart attack late on Holy Saturday and then a code blue pulled on him on Easter. He survived another thirty years though, so he could have used that shirt.

Good morning.

It’s 35F and partly cloudy at the moment. The morning will remain cloudy, but we’ll shift to partly cloudy skies for the afternoon, with a daytime high temp of 56F.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOOFAE!

Doggio, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Oopsie, I hope you find something that you like. I have applied for a couple of stretch jobs, and while I didn’t always get selected, it was worth it all the same.

missred, those cards are beautiful.

JtC, have you considered a dog run? I once had an approximately 8-foot-wide and 14-foot-long dog run. It was easy to set up and secure if the dog wasn’t a digger. We lined the edges with large pavers so the dogs couldn’t dig out.

Nellie, I was so happy to see you are back! I look forward to seeing you post more regularly again. I’m sorry about all the family health issues.

Nettie, yay for the new temp gig. Managing our fleet is just one of the many things I do, but what it means for me is scheduling the PMs, taking care of any accident paperwork and scheduling repairs, turning in and getting new cars from GSAs, and just a few other things. Generally, the MPAs handle that, and I oversee it, but I did that work as the MPA, too.

I know there was so much more, but it’s hard to catch up a week.

It wasn’t a good week for me. Some of our employees really struggled this week, and I had a particularly rough day, too. However, I pushed on, did my work to the best of my ability, and spent some time talking with others. One of the MPAs fears being RIF’d and keeps asking me if I’ve heard anything. Frankly, we’re ALL afraid of being RIF’d. Seniority means nothing in this administration.

GSA Public Buildings Service laid off the entire Region 10 staff except for a few. These are the ones who manage leases, projects, rent, inspections, etc. on three of my buildings. This Region manages 480 public-private leases and 102 federal buildings. I want you to think about that for a minute. Think about the many people who are supposed to report to work in those buildings, too.

Notice finally went out yesterday stating that all BUEs must report to their offices beginning 22 April. Doesn’t mean a hill of beans to me. I am not a BUE, and I’ve been reporting to the office daily since 10 February. I also receive daily calls and emails from remote employees in other federal agencies desperately seeking space in our buildings. Unfortunately, I can’t give them any since we are in the middle of a space assessment, and employees in our agency will have first dibs on that space.

I am also a FERs employee and entered permanent Federal service on February 6, 1984. I missed falling under CSRS by just over a month. My service computation date takes me back to September 1983 because of the two temporary summer jobs I held before becoming permanent. However, since that time wasn’t continuous before I became permanent, I got stuck under the Federal Employee Rip-Off System, my pet name for our retirement system.

Thank you again for your support, whether letting me vent or going out with bats and signs ().

Alrighty, it’s time for more coffee, and then I need to get on with my day. Take care.

In my last apartment, I had to schlep laundry down the steps to the laundry room. I used a big Rubbermaid tote with the lid on and just dragged it down behind me, bumpity-bump-bump-bump. I’ve used those totes for a lot of years as laundry baskets anyway, since I drove open bed pickups and had to haul clothes to the laundromat.

Happy birthday BooFae!

:people_hugging:

Yay for the new gig, seanette!

Hugs to you and those who work for you. Uncertainty is hard.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, houseirk and laundry nearly done and feeling halfway human, thanks to the jab yesterday.

I’m fixing to get sheveled to do some shopping at Joann’s (it’s 90% off now) and buy some groceries.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning all. Up about 7am and quickly got dressed and off to the Kroger, just after the kids got into school and before the get-to-work rush started, so shopping has been completed and my larder is full while my wallet is empty. Then stopped at Wal-Mart, I had bought some sweatpants there but found they were too large, so was able to get a refund for two of them (one I had worn and taken the tags off of, so SOL there). Then bought a couple that were my size along with 1/2lb Burgers for a change from the 5oz ones at Kroger, and came home to take a break. It’s 53F and N.O.S., as my Mom used to say “the sun is hot but the air is cool”, but supposed to get near 70F today. Swimming is in the plans, otherwise will sloth some and may do some house-irk.

Now, what have you folks been up to…

Boo fae, happy Festivating! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

FCM, never been to a gun show but have been to some Army Aviation conventions and some of the stuff there…of course, militarizes are designed to do harm and break things, but the come-ons for them…

I don’t wake up in desperate need to micturate, but as soon as I stand up and start moving the need becomes quite desperate indeed.

Amen!

Sticky Buns, having some structure in your life is good; in my case, I may be too structured and need to step out of the rut and do something different. So structure but leave yourself some ‘outs’ to be spontaneous. IMHO of course.

Taters, BUE = Back-Up Exec.?

I’m lucky, the laundry room is between the kitchen and the garage in it’s own little space, so no steps to navigate.

And that’s all for the morning briefing from N. Ali-bama. Need to visit the Kroger site and give some feedback for 50 extra Fuel Points (will put me over 900 points for March already). Am also contemplating getting my hair cut, it’s been…well…ummm…a long time since I’ve seen a barber so it probably does need work. Take care all.

I’m glad you survived the cuts. It’s always scary and nerve-wracking when that sort of thing is going on.

Good luck Seanette, both of those sound promising!

Happy birthday boofae!

FCM I’ve only been to one gun show (20 years ago). I was horrified at all of the KKK and Nazi imagery on display just everywhere. I can’t imagine what it’s like now :frowning:

taters I’m sorry that it’s just been weeks of misery. Thank you for doing what you do.

I was able to get the lab work done this morning, but it wasn’t easy. The first location I went to was understaffed and turning away anyone who arrived after 7:45am, as the wait room was already full. They did not recommend going to the closest alternate location as that was where everyone was going next. So I ended up having to go nearly 30 miles to use the lab there. I’m hoping they run all the right tests - it didn’t seem like they took near enough blood.

The weather today should be sunny and beautiful, so looking forward to getting out and enjoying it!

Slightly less chaotic I guess, I get sent to pull packages for Bottom Yellow(the slow surly chick with the 6" artificial nails) Laundry is in the dryer, Stilton is comsumed, time for a nap.

I know Corprate company is coming when I see the package cars are washed, and have the tire Armor-alled. But I suppose the high Mucky Mucks need to have their ceremonies.

“If you don’t report to your office, you’re fired, if you don’t move to a non DC office, you’re fired, but oops, we sold all the Federal building.”

My laundry equipment is in the larger of our two bathrooms, along with the litterbox. All on one level, since I’ve had issues with stairs for over 15 years now (stupid arthritic hips!).

And thanks to a mailing list I’m on, I was just informed that DST starts in the US on 9 March this year, so this weekend. (mumble grumble) Just the weekend I need to be losing an hour!

Cue my standard semi-annual “standard, daylight, split the difference, pick something else altogether, I don’t care, just pick something and STICK WITH IT!!!” rant.

Got my new specs - photo in FB. The lenses are larger than my last pair, which is what I wanted. And so far, I seem to be adjusting to the prism. We’ll see how it goes.

Laundry is done. I’ve declared supper will be forage - I plan to have leftover soup. And that pretty much summarized my day.

Metal Mouse, BUE means bargaining unit employee. I am exempt due to my position.

It’s icky here in no. Illinois. A wintery mix. Ursala Kitteh goes to the V E T for a checkup this afternoon.

Hopefully she doesn’t read your posts and thus know when to hide.
