(Old) Mad March Hares in the MMP

Might make more sense to just get the MMR vax and be sure. A dose of it is $98(US GoodRx) versus what the titer lab test costs (US $249). Otherwise you could end up paying $250 for the lab test only for it to turn out showing you aren’t immune and therefore need to get one or two doses of vaccine ($98-199), so $347-449 worst case.

The CDC offers this guidance:

My birth year and becoming a heath care professional meant that before I could begin clinicals in nursing school I had to get the vaccine as a 30 year old.

Status: same-same

A bird flew to the window and sat on the edge of the window sill to look in. I grabbed Jolene and pointed her head at the bird. As soon as she saw it, she turned stiff as a board and started making chittering noises. Yeah, I have a Catling gun!

I’ve written three letters to our Senators and our Representative. Today, Mrs. L.A. combined them into her own letter, which she sent to each of them.

I dunno - I don’t think they’re as good leftover. But now that I think of it, someone sells bake and serve yeast rolls - I’ve seen them in the freezer section. Must investigate further.

Um, home, fed, poised for an evening of chillage. Cardiologist follow-up in the morning, then I’ll go by Kohl’s and Penney’s to look at purses, and I’ll finish with a stop at Aldi. Except no, I need to go by the eye doc again and get my specs adjusted again. It seems like as I wear them, the get tighter on my face. Doesn’t make sense. When she adjusted them yesterday, they were looser over my ears - not digging into my skull. Today, they’re hard against my head. Weird.

For now, I’ll sit and let supper digest, then do some bike time. I want to find some documentaries that aren’t about celebrities. I watched some really interesting series on geology, and historical figures, and castles in the UK, but last time I did a search, most of the “documentaries” were on singers and movie stars. Just no.

Some years ago, I saw a series about the kings and queens of England, going back to the first guy. It was really interesting, but it’s no longer available - I’d love to watch it again. I’m sure I’ll find something.

We had a bit of a discussion over our bagels this morning about seeing what we can do to clear out some of the unused stuff around the house. We went to the gym and the grocery store and then home. That was six hours ago. More than three quarters of the stuff in my closet is now in the back seat of my truck and will be dropped off at the thrift store tomorrow. She attacked the stuff in the basement and her car is full of boxes. There are a few larger items that will need to be taken in the truck, but we really cleared stuff out

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and litanied (is to a word, I just made it up) then came back to da cave for sammiches and nappage. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow, as well. It’s cool, rainyish, windy and gloomy out, so glad to be inside, dry and warm. I feel a touch of scurvy and malaria comin’ on, so I need some lime and tonic water. Gin will be added to help the medicine go down a little better.

I hope that your roomie comes out OK, doggio.

I had to call maintenance today. I want them to come in and see what the issue is with my commode. Today, it overflowed for the second time this month. After much plunging and mopping the bathroom floor with hot water and bleach, it seems to be working OK, but that’s what happened last time.

Other than that, Sunday chores are done and Sunday dinner (ginger chicken couscous soup) digesting, leaving only KP (minimal, since I clean up as I go). Then it’s mess around some more in the studio.

The bus depot:

I have posted about my time as a street kid/juvenile delinquent and also that I spent some time in the Boy Scouts where some of my friend’s dads tried, sometimes successfully, to civilize me.

There is a Nostalgia Facebook page for my city and there was a post about the places open 24/7. There were two restaurants and the bus depots that were open all night. It sparked a memory.

for reasons that I was not privy to our Boy Scout troop had a winter camping trip on the courthouse lawn two years in a row. We had activities through the day and after dinner clean up we were sent to our tents. Once the leaders were asleep my tent mate and I walked across the street to the Greyhound Bus Depot. It was a lot warmer there, and no one seemed to be surprised by a 13 year old kid in a Boy Scout uniform with a cup of black coffee and a cigarette hanging from his mouth playing the pinball machine.

We slipped into our tent just before daylight with the leaders blissfully unaware.

I cleaned, laundered, took out the trash and recycling, and put some stuff to take to the thrift store in Carmen. I tried to nap, but a toe cramp, and a tuxedo standing on my rib cage till my sternum on foiled that. I’m watching hockey. It’s one of the player’s 40th birthday, so this was the giveaway:

They showed the crowd, and they look like they might go to a stoning afterwards.

How freaking cute is that! I’ve never had an interest in Legos before, but seeing what you build (and especially this cottage!) has me rethinking about trying Legos out.

I feel like you just hung out with a bunch of famous British people

Texas Roadhouse was delicious and I am stuffed. I’ve got Sunday evening laundry started, and once that’s done I’ll pretty much be ready for Monday (physically, not mentally).

Hope everyone enjoys the last of the weekend.

Saw the movie Becoming Led Zeppelin this afternoon. Great movie. But a regular popcorn and drink was $19.04! Next time I’m smuggling in my own refreshments.

LOL. When my niece and nephew were young teens, we would hit the dollar cinema around the corner from my apartment with the movie purse. It was just the right size to carry 3 cans of soda and a few snacks picked up at the dollar store.

I’ve been reading y’all’s exploits, but been too tired to respond. So, yay’s boo’s and hugs as needed.

Really glad to hear that wetone is back on a horse, even if it isn’t the preferred horse.

Genuine snort laugh.

hippie Well done on ridding yourselves of unneeded crap! I ought to do the same.

{{{shoe}}} Just cuz I lurve you, and I think you could use a hug.

It’s been a heck of a week. I really want to finish the boat and go to full time at the museum. Boat is progressing.

I had to fiberglass the bumpers. Not fun, and stinky. Paint tomorrow. Then “set dressing.”
Irksome thing, I’ve found that when I work a lot and my hands get scratched up/covered in glue residue, my phone fingerprint thingy doesn’t recognize my thumb. I know, first world problem, but still irksome.

I gotta finish this thing soon. I’m down 10 lbs in the last month from stress and too many hours.

Should we call you Noah or Jethro? :d&r:

Anyway, nice work. Careful with the fiberglass.

Evening all. Steak was dined upon and exercise was obtained, so added and subtracted the right amount of calories. Did a little looking for sweatpants at Sports Authority and Target, but nothing I liked at a price I also liked. The off to the gym and home for a couple of sammiches and some carrots just to say I’m eating healthy. It’s 50F now but supposed to be up and above 70F their first part of the coming week, so that is a nice change. Watching trains on Virtual Railfan (the Southwest Chief is due shortly in LaPlata, MO) and then need to return to the NY TImes crossword and KenKen puzzles before bedtime.

Not a bad place to go, the food is good, the rolls are usually hot, and the service has been prompt whenever I have been there.

Oopsie, thanks for the DST insight; I lived through that of course, but I have no rememberance either for or against it. And a good night’s rest to you and hoped you enjoyed dinner with your ‘family’. And appendages crossed for the job; sounds like you nailed the interview.

boo fae, sounds like you had another marvelous musical weekend…and getting a shout-out for the headlines is neat.

Dicey, I remember hearing about the Dust storms in Europe, thanks for the article.

cookie, congrats on the Spelling Bee, I never have the patience to do that.

shoe, hope tonight has less craziness than usual. You’ve earned it.

Sticky Buns, hope after consideration the great idea is still great. I’ve done that before, while napping or just totally relaxed a solution to some problem comes to me.

JtC, Now Jolene may be fixated to that window looking for the next bird to come along…

Hippie, I have a couple of boxes of stuff that I have no use for, but probably no one else does either (t-shirts for a certain convention I used to attend) , but I hate throwing away perfectly good stuff so they just sit in my closet. Most of the rest got gone when I remodeled most of my house 5-6 years ago and a couple bags of stuff gets picked up by Purple Heart every month or so.

And thanks for the story of your misspent youth.

red, good luck with the plumbing.

wet one, haven’t been in a movie theatre since pre-COVID, and at those concession prices I might not be in any hurry. Airports, Sporting Events, and Movies always have the most overpriced concessions IMHO.

Van Go, interesting boat, what is it supposed to represent? And as for the weight loss, well, is there a Texas Roadhouse close by?

OK, need to get that train to the station and a couple of You Tubes are pending, so take care all and if I don’t get back tonight, see y’all on the next MMP.

Which makes sense considering as how you have carpets. We just have rugs that I can toss in the washing machine.

But yeah about the price, plus ours came with all sorts of attachments that don’t seem to be included in the box now.

I knew this was going to happen, I just didn’t think it would happen so quickly.

One of my nieces married a guy called Frank. Frank’s parents were green card holders and would go back to Mexico to have their children because that is where her family was. This meant that Frank was undocumented.

Frank got caught smuggling weed into CA and was kicked out of the US for the rest of his life. Christine went with him. She doesn’t speak Mexican, didn’t even take Spanish in school and quit when she got preggy at 16. His Mexican wasn’t great because he was brought up in the US, I’m not sure if he graduated or not or even if it would matter.

So, because she is an American citizen, she is still entitled to Medicaid for now. She is also being treated for some serious kidney issues and is currently staying with Mom.

So now Mexico has started demanding that Americans crossing the border have Visa’s and passports. This is of course not unexpected, but Christine has just been walking across the border so long that all she has is an ID driver’s license. Mom has the memory span of a goldfish and Christine really isn’t able to deal with the paperwork by herself so will probably ignore and deny until things go south at the border.

Once the temps are over 50 at night, my baby lemon will stay out as well. It’s just a baby tree and citrus don’t grow well in this climate so I have to baby it.

I do remember that. Of course, I was off in a different country at the time, but Mom was quite sure that it was a bad idea and said so on a regular basis. Of course she is also in the “Just pick one and stop messing around” camp.

Feel bad, but don’t feel alone.

Your stone cottage is super cute, I wouldn’t have noticed the missing door if you hadn’t pointed it out. I thought it was open so you could see the insides too!

I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have let it go that long if he wasn’t interested in you. I’m really hoping that I’m right and that you will be able to sleep well again.

AWWWW!!!

I’m so happy you two had so much fun, and what a small world it really is.

Thank you. TIL. I really had no idea, is this new or do I just live under a rock?

I’m sad to see Joanne’s go as well, so many crafty people will miss them so much.

I’m getting my MMR jab tomorrow. I’m pretty sure I had them when I joined the service, but that was a very long time ago. I had the measles once, it sucked and I do not want to do it again.

:people_hugging:

:people_hugging:

That is super smart! I need to learn how to do that, LOL!!!

Nonono, send each letter separately. They count that sort of thing, so make every effort to be counted.

GO YOU!!! De-cluttering really does help your home and happiness. I’m still horrified about how much stuff we managed to stuff into a 1400 sf home in less than 8 years. I refuse to allow that to happen again.

I hope they fix it, it shouldn’t have overflowed the first time so something is going on with the pipes.

Holy cow! How do kids manage date night anymore? Jeeze louise.

That’s not great, but your boat looks good. I do hope you can start just working 40 a week, your body wants a break.

Now that I know how it works, I spent much time aiming her at the birds. I am easily entertained.

So it looks like Barkley has a home. Hubs went to give him his morning treats and Barkley was out for a walk with someone else. Hubs said the man looked to be younger than us and the volunteer said that he was looking for an older dog to be a couch potato with him.

Someone was going to go out and be sure the yard was fully fenced this afternoon and hopefully Barkley is lounging on a couch as I type.

She sent the letter to each person through their individual website. But the salutation in cluded all three names. She said it would be better than ‘cc:’.

Sunday night is always weird.

Fridays are banana-pants crazy, Saturdays are … kind of a wild card (might be wild, might be okay) but man, Sundays are, “I’m sorry, you said what now?”

Sometimes inside to crew, sometimes to customers at the drive-thru, sometimes over the phone.

(“Hi, can I get a pickup order for delivery?”

Dafuq?)

Lo siento.

My living room, again, looks like a tornado that snatched up a dumpster & then threw up.

Gave Car(e)less a ride home mid-shift (Alternate Manager: “Do you mind?” “I get to siddown and have a … ummm … cigarette. Yeah, we good.”) and he wants a chance to interact with Charm and Pretzel.
(He is bored and stressed.) I was like, yeah, eventually, but I’m super behind on their feeding schedule and Pretz gets … hangry.
You wouldn’t like her when she’s hangry, she gets snappy at things that might be food. So let’s give it a day?

Aw, shit, I gotta go roll out the trash bin before I forget.

I need to get my shit life together.

(Narrator: “She did not.”)

That’s even worse than the time I was in the McD’s drive-through and specified that my order was to-go.
