last night was more clearing and getting ready for the new chair arrival. the condo meeting last night was on zoom, so after i gave my report i could just up the volume on the ipad and get things done.
i did get more done as i didn’t start watching tv until after 9pm. stayed up 'till after 1 am finishing the series.
got notification that the chair will be delivered between 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm tomorrow.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I need to do a load of laundry today, but that’s about it.
I think the meds are kicking in because I slept like a baby last night. The toe is a bit ouchy this morning, but nothing like the last couple of days. I’m hoping that it feels good enough to go to the no kings march Saturday.
Morning all. Stayed in bed until nearly 8am today, just because I could. Have 1-2 more soccer things to work out and then we should be ready for the season. Need to drop off an equipment bag this afternoon so that will add some interest. Also need to get about 3-4 e-mails out to parents and coaches on starting the season. I will be so happy when things finally get started and settle down…
A beautiful day, 70F now heading to the mid-80’s, but it’s due to drop a lot on Friday night and be in the 40’s by Saturday morning to start the soccer season. Oh joy.
Flyboy, glad it all added up evenly (there be time enough for counting when the dealing’s done). I keep your drawers tight and neat…
VanGo, sounds like your getting the cold snap I am due a day earlier than me.
boo fae, went to the gym yesterday and was ok, back has an occasional twinge but is much better. Glad you had some options for your travel.
Knots, did you make it to the RSB? And yeah, if this is recurring your meds ain’t doing what they ought to and need to be examined.
Pavo, it’ll work out somehow. Just take care of yourself.
Mollie, sounds like they have it well in-hand. Hope you get to go with them. London is my favorite city in the world.
Taters, most of my driving is in-and-around and less than 5-6 miles each way, which the Hybrid handles easily, but I’ve got drives to Atlanta and Nashville coming up so that will dig into my pocket some.
red, hope both my back and your toe are good for Saturday, you to march and me to referee and monitor soccer.
And need to get those messages out. Take care all.
Wow. I’m jealous. I spent three hours at Heathrow on my way to Scotland, but that’s all that I’ve seen of London. (I did get a very good view of Windsor Castle from the air.)
1031 computer time (0931 according to my phone, which – after falling back three weeks late last year – still hasn’t sprung forward), and we have 45 Ferrets/7 Centipedes, which will supposedly increase to 58/14 by the end of the day. Unfortunately, that’s the predicted high for the week.
Most of the tulips are coming up along the south side of the house, but only a few of those we planted out front. The daffs in the front are doing well, though. Haven’t gone out to check on the irises at the back corner of the house yet.
Spent rather more than we had expected to at Super Walmart yesterday, the major expenses being two big containers of kitty litter. It’s amazing how much the price of eggs has gone down in the last couple of years.Today’s plan is to exchange a few books at the library, and then head up to the base pharmacy, checking gas prices along the way. On the way home we’ll feed the car, then stop at Dollar-and-a-Half Tree and Big Y to pick up a few things that Super Walmart doesn’t carry.
I’ve been to many Londons, including the one in Kentucky and the one in England. I consider them all real, as in that they exist, but the one with Westminster Abbey is the original, to the best of my knowledge. The one in Indiana, where I grew up, is really close to Edinburgh (a guy I use to date and I took an international trip around Indiana once and went to (New) Paris, Peru, Rome, Mexico, London, Edinburgh, Athens and a few others over a long weekend. It was fun).
I am excited. I’ve not been to (OG) London in nearly forty years. In fact, This summer will be the fortieth anniversary of my sneaking off from my high school’s London trip to see Queen at Wembley.
I was never allowed out of Mr. Green’s sight again, but it was worth it.
Boat cleaning was done by noon. Then we went to Olive Garden for soup and salad. back home, I checked my landscape plants (some are budding, some not yet.) Then we hung the big TV in the basement and cleaned things up a bit. I need to put up an ad for the stoopit Fire TV (I’ll never buy one of them ever again!!!) Supper will be forage. I’s whipped!
I have been cleared for cataract surgery, so I get my Steve Austin eye in two weeks.
I also have been cleared for yoga after surgery, I just need to try not to sweat in it.
“You’re good to do all the things. Oh, do you sweat?”
“Hon, I have a splash zone.”
Lunch was egg salad (insert Mystery Men reference here).
SenGirl is still staying up night and sleeping days. She’s 17 and prefers to hang around with her friends, and sometimes likes doing things with her brother and other times not. She’s not been feeling well, but I hope she will get better.
SenBoy usually does lots of sports with his friends and didn’t get the memo that he has an older father who can’t do that as much. Fortunately, my nephew has spent some time with us and we will go to his place over the weekend.
My mother is just turning 91. She had a health scare a couple of weeks ago. She’s back to the ER today as well. I’m glad we could come see her while she’s still in good health.
My sister takes care of her and there are issues between the two of them. I really appreciate all that my sister does, and I’m on her side on this. Fortunately, it’s not open so the mood isn’t really bad.
I took SenBoy bowling yesterday. I haven’t bowled much in the last 48 years, so I was happy to break 100 on the first two games and got a 115 on the last. Nowhere near the scores I used to get in my teens, but it was fun anyway.
We went to the Mall of Georgia today. Clothes were bought, teens were entertained. And we left before rush hour.
It was a busy day, dodging forklifts, reboxing all the stuff that got crushed in all the belt jams, and clerking all of last night’s undeliverables. I did my Senior Day shopping, and took Roomie to PT. She can start driving herself next week. I’m having a early dinner(Smoked Paprika chicken and Greek seasoned potato rounds) and a Jungle Bird.
It’s to protect them from Underpants gnomes.

Indeed.
You woke up every two hours, wet yourself, and cried?
Hey everyone, I’ve been reading but actually sitting down in front of my comp just wasn’t happening for whatever reason.
This morning started strange. We woke up just before 0600 to the sound of Jolene screaming. (We’ve never heard that sort of noise come out her before, we didn’t know if she was hurt or what)
She met me at the bedroom door, her very fluffy tail was wagging hard enough to beat against the wall and she was seriously agitated. There was something happening outside the front living room windows (as opposed to the side living room windows - same room, different walls) so we both peered out and I couldn’t see anything, so I assume Mothman came for a visit.
When I got back to the bedroom, Hubs was upright and George (who was asleep next to me before Jolene screamed) was on the side of the bed farthest from the living room and did not want to come out. (He doesn’t fit under the bed anymore)
We figured he didn’t know what had scared Jolene so badly, but he was smart enough to know that if lil Miss Confident was screaming, it must be something pretty scary.
Of course we weren’t going back to sleep after that so we sat out on the front porch and watched the sun rise over the mountain. At least he can still enjoy his coffee, it turns out that he is blaming this attack on one single IPA he enjoyed with a grilled chicken salad. That is very sad, he wasn’t a daily drinker, but he liked hoppy IPAs so much he brewed his own with a recipe he developed.
Not to mention that now we have all of those vats and his fancy pants five gallon cooker that will never be used again. Hmmmm, I wonder if the Hatfields might trade us a few bottles of 'shine for his brewing supplies. Can’t hurt to ask when we are there next.
After we were properly caffinated and he was showered, I headed off to the thread shop. At some point, my GPS dropped off and I didn’t notice until I got to Charleston and realized that something was wrong. (I have a horrible sense of direction, I rarely know where I am TBH.)
I pulled over and messed around with my phone until I got it working again and then drove through the outskirts of Charleston to get back on track. I spent much less than I had budgeted for which was nice. I bought everything I had planned and a few skeins of thread just because it was pretty and the one who dies with the biggest stash wins.
Now I’m home catching up with you folks while watching George and the Starlings. (I can’t bring myself to hate Starlings, yes they are invasive and hurt the native birds, but they didn’t ask to come here and are just living their lives as best they can.)
I’m glad she is recovering well, Spot needs both of his slaves to be in proper working order!
I’m glad you won’t have to miss your routine, it is so hard to get back into it after a break.
Hurray for the new eyes, you will be very happy with the results and will be able to see the improvement even with the shield they make you wear.
We don’t have daffodils. All of our neighbors and many of the businesses and hillsides have daffodils, but not us. We have asshole deer instead.
Still and all, the price of gas isn’t hurting some of us as much as those who are still commuting daily. We filled all of our tanks the Friday before trumps war started and I’m only under half a tank now. That’s including two drives across a very small state
I did look at gas prices while I was driving, its just habit. Between the price of diesel and a million acres of Nebraska farms burning to the ground, grocery prices are going to get pretty alarming soon.
What sort of shoes do you wear? Hubs is starting to consider getting less manly shoes if they would allow him to walk painfree. I’ve been pointing him at UGG like shoes because I think the thick fur lining would help, but he is…stubborn. At least he’s wearing sneaks instead of his steel toed engineer boots.
I hope you will be able to attend. I’m getting tired of waving my sign all over the place and am wondering if it is getting time to riot like the Europeans do.
That really bites. You did the responsible thing though. Sometimes being a grown up kinda sucks.
Thank you for sharing that. It’s good to know that he hasn’t been forgotten. And what about those Epstein files, huh?
Well, soccer stuff and a hyperactive bladder kept me in the house most of the day but I think I have a handle on it, so we’ll see what the night brings. Managed to do a little house-irk so things are marginally cleaner, so nice to have a dependable source of water again. Nice day again tomorrow but then the temperature drops about 30-40F overnight Friday. Oh joy.
Know the feeling, have been to Japan and Switzerland a couple of time, but only seen the airport’s ‘transit passengers’ area. Kinda like to visit those places and stay awhile…
red, there’s an Athens just down the road from me, but they call it A-thens here in N. Ali-bama.
Mollie, best wishes for a successful surgery.
Sensei, glad you can see your mother this late in life, and glad she seems to be doing OK. And I haven’t been bowling in at least 20 years, I might still break 100 but no guarantees of it.
JtC, a poltergeist is haunting Jolene? And happy knitting.
Soon?!?!?
Heading towards 9pm so we’ll go watch some Basketball and try to get my brain to brain some more. Take care all.
I wear Brooks sneakers. They have a nice, wide toe box and good support.
I’ve been there. There’s one in Tennessee too. I’ve gone through or traveled to Athens, Rome and varieties of Paris in several states.
Something that I ate for supper is upsetting my belly. It was nothing out of the ordinary, just a grilled chicken taco (Sis brought me some from BIL grilling out) and a salad. However it is sitting like a rock.
Howdy!
What a day. Started out well with some Seattle’s Best Dark in the pour-over, and then stuff kept happening, until finally I had to put on just-in-case-I-run-into-somebody clothing and go to town. Then got back home before remembering that I meant to stop and get posterboard to make a new sign for Saturday. Le sigh.
All the creatures, two-legged and four-legged, are fed and settled for the night. I am going to spend an hour or so doing dopamine hits. (That’s our household’s term for playing computer games.)
Just, wow y’all. My band went to Six Flags. We did the car washes, sold World’s Finest chocolate bars and fuzzy footie socks, and had bake sales. I wonder if bake sales are even legal anymore? I haven’t seen one in a long time.
@FairyChatMom Excellent, thank you! I gotta get hip to the Mumper lingo. That one tickled me.
I think she has nine lives.
It is very sad. Both sides of my family had an “old home place.” All bulldozed now. It happened long before digital cameras so nobody went to the trouble to take pictures.
@The_Stainless_Steel_Rat It’s already been hot enough here I took off the flannel sheets so I wouldn’t roast, but it’s supposed to be 38F tonight. Weird weather.
That explains . . . The Sewing Room (dun dun duunnnn), of my quilting housemate.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/49f with a predicted high of 12c/54f and cloudy. Weather app is bored with it and says “All of the fucking clouds can go and fuck all the way off.”
How exciting! I will be going down that road in the not too distant future. My last eye exam confirmed the start of something but it wasn’t anywhere near enough of a change to warrant surgery yet. But it’s coming, eventually. By all accounts, you’ll be overjoyed with the results!
I am glad too, I still wish I’d had more time with my mum after she was diagnosed with cancer. We knew her time was limited but she went downhill very quickly at the end and I still feel bad about not doing enough for her or being there as much as I should have been.
doggio I’m glad to hear that Roomie’s PT is going well and you will be relieved of chauffeur duty. Spot will have his Primary Slave back to himself.

Yesterday was not a bad irk day in the end, got a few things done before hometime. I got in and decided to run the rollsuck instead of going to the gym. At this point, I found out that the pet hair attachment thing is definitely not functioning properly so I will need to look for a new one. After that, I tended to the needs of cats to bring them out of hiding, then made chicken curry for dinner. I slothed for a while and then provided treats and ham at bedtime.
Today the trains were running again this morning but everything was late. I think there’s a patch where the overhead cables have been fixed and the tracks have been mended but the trains need to run slower through that section. I got here, but later than usual, and it definitely does not bother me
Our final exam timetable has been published so I need to check that through and add some notes to it for myself. Then I have to book rooms and equipment for three students who have to take exams in a room by themselves. One of them is a student we are not allowed to have any contact with, so I have to get all my info together and speak to the Wellbeing Officer who will act as liaison between us and her. More drama I could live without!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 84 and sunny this afternoon. The big item on today’s agenda is to take care of candle and other duties over to the church house. I need to see if the bazillion (OK, really twenty-two) candles we don’t use durin’ Lent have been cleaned up and polished. The brass tops get all shined up at some point durin’ Lent. The two candles in the Resurrection Chapel (we must name everything) come apart in several pieces and are a chore to put back together. Luckily I had the forethought to take a picture of one several years ago so I can look at it to see how all the parts go together. I shall need much RDOS sloth to recuperate after that. Sup will be salmon patties, peas, smashed N.O.T. and bizkits just cause.
I don’t know why I didn’t reply again yestiddy. I chalk it up to brain fart and bein’ old.
Pavo hope you get better soonest. You did the responsible adult thing in stayin’ home and keepin’ the flu germs to yourself.
Mollie love the story about sneakin’ off to see Queen in concert. How delightfully teenage rebellious of you! I would have done the same thing. Queen is definitely one of the best bands ever. Yay for havin’ a date for the cataract surgery. I, too, shall join the bionic eyes club at some point. I have been encouraged by what the Mumpers who have been through it say about the results.
Notty great idea to talk with your PCP about a possible meds change. Hope that gets you back on track.
Sensei glad you are gettin’ this time with your mom. The mention of The Maul of Jawja gives me a sense of where you are. I remember when Buford was considered to be a small town way out of Etlanner, but not anymore. As to bowlin’, all I can say is, I bowl like I live; mostly in the gutter.
doggio glad roomie is improvin’ and will be able to drive herself to PT.
BooFae hope you make it through exams time, AKA stoodint drama time, relatively unscathed.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify and get somewhat shevelled. I should be all by myself in the church house so can get away with tshirt, shorts and sneaks.
