(Old) MMP in the snow, uphill both ways

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 4c/40f with a predicted high of 8c/47f and cloudy. Weather app says “This fucking overcast nonsense is complete shit. Utter fucking rubbish.” Weather app must be fed up with the persistent gloom.

Lily I hope you made the most of that bath!

Perhaps it would be a good idea, to reassure Mrs Cookie more than to ensure Sadie is fine

Hopefully he is not doing too badly, and his experience with the garden cart will help him feel that he’s able to use things for support and not feel diminished by it.

If your work fridge has a separate small freezer section, the drip tray is usually directly beneath it.

Care to have a guess at what the locals are making with that lot?

I’ve seen some very impressive bits of film of ice and snow falling off houses. Definitely would not want to be underneath any of that!

I hope she enjoyed her birthday, and you both enjoyed the film. It’s on my list of things I want to see at some point but I also don’t want to go to the cinema for it.

We haven’t tried that version, it’s hard enough to get the diet version over here. I bought ‘im indoors a box of 24 cans as a gift one year, he managed to make them last quite a while. They came via an American food importer so they were about twice the price of normal places but it made him happy.

Maybe they’re not used to having a septic tank, and hadn’t realised it needed to be done? I would also not be a fan of someone who cut down so many lilac bushes without at least asking the neighbours if they wanted to transplant any of them.

Have you checked the rest of the ingredients on the wrapper? A lot of them advertise a hefty chunk of protein but they also contain a lot of sugar and stuff you don’t necessarily want. Not always worth it for the protein hit.

Surely he’s just looking out for your wellbeing, or your life insurance?

I am sorry they were so rude to you, you don’t deserve that and they should know better. I hope SM was understanding and sympathetic.

Nothing exciting going on here, I had an ok irk day and a pleasant evening. ‘im indoors used leftover Thai curry for dinner which was yummy, and he found some ice cream in the freeze so we had that afterwards. Job offer finally arrived yesterday, I reviewed the contract details and have decided to decline it. The drop in salary isn’t viable for me, so a 5-day wageslave I must remain.

Pics or it didn’t happen.

That sounds familiar.

BTW, “No name” in Latin is “Nemo,” which I always thought was a strange thing for a parent of any species to name a child.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 30 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 55 and cloudy. I shall take care of candle duty over to the church house later this mornin’. OYKW has a doc appointment this mornin’. One of us will pick up stoner food for today’s main need to feed. Who does it depends on who gets done first. His appointment is for earlier than I intend to do my thing, so probably me, but one never knows with the doc. The rest of the day will be devoted to RDOS inactivities as is our wont.

{{{shoe}}} so sorry you had to deal with. Assholes gonna be assholes, I reckon.

BooFae OYKW and I have always agreed that when one of us goes, the other will cash in on the insurance, buy a black swim suit, and go mourn in Tahiti.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I must purtify and don acceptable attire. I won’t be amongst the great unwashed, but probably shouldn’t leave da cave dressed in tshirt, sweatpants, fuzzy robe and slippers.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Happy Fir Day. It’s 20 ferrets outside and I’ve been awake for about 25 straight hours. I have to take Cobenfy, a new psych med, two hours after and at least one hour before a meal, twice a day, and I’m finding it difficult to squeeze into my schedule, especially the way that I eat.

Besides, it’s not really helping me. It’s supposed to improve my motivation, but I think I haven’t been honest with myself and my doctor about what my goals actually are. I am perfectly comfortable playing the part of the stay-at-home dad without a kid, doing chores, playing video games, running the laundry, planning the meals, cooking the meals, and managing most of the finances. I don’t have to also be active in my community and get a job. It didn’t end well last time.

So I’m not going to be doing that, and I’m going to request an earlier appointment with Nurse Practitioner Kimberly to ask her to ramp me off of Cobenfy. Besides, it’s very expensive through my regular pharmacy and I have to jump through hoops to get the Community Services Board (CSB) to literally drop it off at my house. I’m done with all of that.

I’m staying up just long enough to help my landlady carry in her groceries, take my morning Cobenfy, and then I’m napping to recover my sleep deficit before going out into The World to pick up my repaired New Balance sneakers.

The PS5 controller I bought on eBay on November 4 has already stopped charging. I’m getting in touch with the seller about a replacement. It was listed as being in Excellent condition. It’s my one and only PS5 controller.

December 1979 for me, but there was a big break between the first time I went to college and when I went back and finished. Else, this June would have been 50. Three years in the Navy filled the void. I absolutely was not ready for higher education right after high school, but it took a year of classes to figure that out.

We don’t have but one decent intrarwebz option here in the boonies. There was talk of fiber optic at one point, but it hasn’t happened in our little neighborhood. And no way I’d want satellite based on my mom’s experience with it. First world problems.

As for sweet potatoes, I discovered that slicing them then tossing the slices in olive oil and spices before putting them in the air fryer makes for a yummy side. But baked is good, too, with butter and cinnamon. I refuse to put marshmallows on them, despite what Texas Roadhouse seems to think. Now I think I need to buy a couple…

The first time we moved out of Florida, we sold our house that had HUGE azaleas lining the driveway. There were many colors and they provided beauty and privacy from the road. Huge, as in 6-7’ tall!! The buyer hacked them down to about a foot tall. I just don’t get it…

Sorry it didn’t work out as you’d hoped. That’s the way it goes sometimes, right?

{{{shoe}}} - the hazard of dealing with the public - some aren’t fit to be out in public.

Today has started with SEVEN FREEKIN’ FERRETS!!! On the way to low 20s. I do so hate winter. I’ll spend a chunk of my day in the basement doing laundry and sewing. FCD is going to the boat, then home to work in the shop. And starting Moanday, we’ll creep above freezing during the day - not a lot above, but it’s a start.

Guess I should get a fire going in the basement so it’ll be warm when I’m ready to start working. Happy Firday!!!

She was, I guess, mostly confused that I was so frazzled. Normally I can handle assholes & idiots, no problem - they just caught me at a particularly bad moment, and I couldn’t handle it.

As far as baked sweet potatoes, my late Other Shoe taught me: BBQ sauce. Really. Some butter, melty cheese of choice, and good tangy sauce. Pairs well with the sweetness without the cloying of marshmallows.

Yeah, as mentioned, the vet gave her an antibiotic shot (the cat, not the wife) and we need to give her eyedrops for a week.

Morning all. Hooking back up to AT&T was easy-peasy, and the speed test shows around 370MBPS, which is much more like it. The Verizon store doesn’t open until 9am so I’ll postpone my usual Firday shopping until closer to that time. I’m sure Verizon will have a reason that it failed so badly, but not interested in continued experiments, I’m happy with the status quo.

29F heading to 43F so same as the last couple of days, but windy and cold on Sattiday with a chance of a dusting of snow, so best get all the running around done today.

red, yep, I use full ‘letters, numbers and special characters’ in mine, usually using a code that I can remember but others wouldn’t know.

lily, I’ve gotten away from baths (shower throughly almost daily at the gym), but yeah, a shower is just a shower, but a long hot bath is a soak…

Flipper, thanks for the review, I see very few movies anymore, but will watch for this one. And hope the medications get straightened out.

shoe, like swampy says, assholes going to asshole, and it just caught you at a bad moment. Read a couple pages of “Not Always Right” to know you are not alone and that karma can deal with idiots like that. Be well.

boo fae, thanks for the suggestion, the wrappers are buried in my trash now, but next time I’m at the gym I’ll do some more ‘browsing’ and take a look. And sorry the job didn’t meet expectations, but you know you better than anyone.

Never been a Sweet Potato fan, don’t know why, but I Yam what I Yam…

FCM, stay warm now.

And been long enough since taking my morning meds, so will break fast with an apple buffet (the last Gala Apple I have, two small cups of applesauce, and a mini-apple pie). Have a good Firday all.

Ah, since we’re trading local weather, here in western Mitten State we’re at negative two … no, I’m sorry, my phone informs me that we’ve warmed up to negative one (1) ferrets.

-7. Warm up next week in the 20s!:beach_with_umbrella:

Being of Polish descent, I have a large variety of unique names available to me for constructing passwords, and I’ve been known to use phone numbers from my long past days for the numeric part of the password. Why I would remember my phone number from 40 years ago is truly a mystery… The point is, I can avoid the trap of pets’ names or birthdays.

You mean you’re not in restless anticipation to see Melania??? (I saw a post (not sure how true it is) that people are being offered free tickets plus $50 to sit thru the whole thing. Wonder if there are any takers?)

Up to 11 Ferrets here. Otis is content to lie in the sun by the dining room door. I’ve got a good fire going in the basement, and last time I checked, it was up to 65 Ferrets down there - still a tad chilly for sewing, delicate flower that I am.

FCD just called - he stopped to get his blood drawn ahead of his Dr appt next week, and he’s enroute to the marina. I’m enjoying some quiet. Otis was a tad wild earlier. I threw a toy for him, but there’s not enough room for him to get a good run going. When the weather gets decent again, I need to take him for long walks. But I don’t walk in sub-freezing temps.

First load in the dryer, second in the washer, third on deck. And that’s the latest from FairyChatEstate! Stay tuned for further updates!

7f today. looks like we will get disappointing to no snow from the nor’st’r coming up the coast this weekend. we are at 20% chance of snow. sad. the carolina coasts are going to get hit. maybe a bit of va, md, and de. mostly a fish storm once it heads north.

susan, love the oaty cat! how fun.

suntanlotion, great news on the grubhub!

seanette, stretch loved paper. i had to hide the tp, paper towels, puffs plus, all note pads, sometimes even books. he would either shred or lick. it did make it easy to buy him presents!

purplehorseshoe, i’m sorry that happened. that is beyond frustrating.

scareyfaerie, we are tackling the drip tray thing around 3:30-4pm. our fridge has double door on top and one freezer drawer on the bottom. if we can’t figure it out we will call in help from the maintence crew. thank you for the info!

i prefer my sweet potatoes mashed or sliced. the mashed from boston market was a particular favourite. it was soooo good.

{{{shoe}}} Customer service positions suck sometimes.

Awww!

They make wonderful hash browns too. Now, I’m gonna have to grate some tomorrow morning for breakfast.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. It was 42F when I walked Nelson this morning. We’re getting another cold front this weekend, so staying bundled up.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 45F, cloudy, and a little foggy. We expect some rain later this morning and some showers in the afternoon. Our daytime high will be around 54F.

Shoe, sending you hugs. Assholes can ruin an entire day if they catch you at the wrong time.

BooFae, I’m sorry the job didn’t work out. Maybe something better will come along.

Metal Mouse, it’s too bad Verizon turned out to be worthless. I have Xfinity, and I’m happy with them 99% of the time. It’s truly rare for me to have an issue with their internet service. I have very high-speed internet because of my husband’s gaming.

I like baked sweet potatoes. I typically use the pale sweet taters, and all I really need is a dab of butter. They’re sweet enough on their own for me.

Lily, very cute kitty picture! I usually shower, and if my shoulders hurt and stand with the water beating down on my back. I have a gigantic bathtub. By the time that thing is full, I’m over the bath. I’ve lived in this house for almost 23 years, and I think I’ve used it for myself less than 10 times. We bathe the pups in it.

Laundry was done yesterday, but I need to wash the guest bedding today because my son is coming up. It’ll be good to see him again, and the pups will be delirious with joy. They love him so much.

I found out yesterday that my retirement case is close to being adjudicated. I had an option to make a redeposit, and I took care of that yesterday. I should receive everything within the next couple of weeks…finally. I guess I should be grateful; I’ve read that some federal employees still have their packets stuck in their internal HR departments.

It’s time to finish my coffee and get on with the day. Please take care of yourselves.

Grub did not return my money, my bank did.

Shoe, I’m sorry.

:people_hugging:

I didn’t hate my job, I actually liked my job and I was great at it. It was dealing with the general public that led to me to be so content during the plague times. I don’t like people anymore and I will find any excuse possible to avoid dealing with them.

I hope there are no unpleasant surprises.

The lights just flickered, so best not dawdle. Schools are out today, apparently there is another big winter storm happening with much snow and weather. We aren’t getting anything but we are at the south part of the state where it is warmer.

Our power has been steady, a flicker now and then but no outages. The line workers had been trimming trees back for a couple of weeks before the first store and it seems as though they did a good job  The interwebz have been iffy so I’ve been listening to an audio book while stitching.

Yesterday Hubs braved the elements and went to Lowes and got a big house sized humidifier because my pot of water on the stove just wasn’t cutting it. George is MUCH more comfortable today, the poor guy was getting zapped just washing his feet.

Hubs has also realized that our genny won’t keep the heat up well enough to avoid freezing pipes so he ordered two or three (I’m not sure, he was talking about both options) gas heaters. I’m really not sure how helpful they would be in sub-freezing weather because you have to have windows open for ventilation. I think if the roads are clear, we should shut the water off at the street, drain the pipes and then take the fuzzbutts to a motel.

Breakfasted, exercised and puzzled. Got a newspaper again today! Heat surge to 5F this morning.

My daughter is coming to visit tomorrow. She was actually able to call me on the phone a few days ago. We were both shocked by this, as my phone has steadfastly refused to accept her calls for the last three years. Her number was never blocked, so I don’t know what that was about. We’ll probably order subs from Jersey Mikes, since there isn’t a decent pizza place in this entire city that I’m aware of. My poor kids actually think Papa Murphy’s is good pizza.
