(Old) Of Humid Bondage- A Heatwave MMP

its supposedly going 104 which means it can get as high as 110 …still feel bleh but not as bad … more later hopefully

Thank you all, my friends, for the kind words…

It’s raining, it’s pouring dripping intermittently
The old man Shoe is snoring putting on pants and going BACK to work

… really just doesn’t have the same :musical_note: does it?

Whatever. I survived yet another Long Night (and wooof! with the crazies!) and am treating myself to a patty melt. Plus, I get to be Early Out tonight AND get a long break (half hr instead of 15 min) and already hit the dispo earlier, so I’m all set.

I gotta get going, but someone remind me to tell y’all about the dispo run earlier, it was the most 'hood shit and yet warmed my heart.

I think one of the more common side effects of many Rx is dry mouth.
Does she like tea? Hot tea, for the perpetually chilly?
Maybe sipping something (instead of crunching it) would be more tolerable for both of ya.

Oh, did she like the melted ice cream idea from Pilot?

Oh, honey, I think we’ve meandered way past that point by now.

I don’t think he ever said a single word about kissing…

So hubs is here safe and sound. When GG heard/saw another unfamiliar car pulling up in the driveway, he removed himself and went under the bed. Hubs went in and lifted the blanket up to look under the bed and called GG who chirped a little “is it really you?” then came out and had a mutual adoration session with hubs. They are both stretched out in the rental recliner taking a nap. Hubs says that he’s going to start unloading the car after dinner, but I think he can wait until the morning when its cooler.

The house feels so much better with him in it, I’m glad he’s home.

JtC I’m also glad your guy is home, and that GG has forgiven him for the absence.

shoe Tell us the deets of the dispo run. We wanna know.

As to me, I’m still feeling little bugs on me everywhere after my Lyme incident. All in my brain. Don’t really want to go outside.

I’m glad he’s home too and especially enjoying hubs and GG’s reunion……awwww. Did hubs ‘meep’ back at GG?

Of course, I was reading fast, and saw this as rectal recliner, so I had to go back and re-read it…

They done wore each other out:

I went to the deli for a fried chicken dinner - it was easy and yum. Chillage shall ensue.

Howdy Y’all! Much merriment ensued today. We laughed. We drank. We had an excellent late N.O.L./early sup. JDD and Partner left and we have showered. Feels good to be inside in the a/c. Netflix and chill shall ensue shortly.

Pilot a part of me wants to clutch some pearls and fall on the faintin’ couch. Glad BB and you are enjoyin’ the reunion. The concert sounds good.

MetalMouse yay for quiet hotel. Enjoy the battlegrounds tour. Sounds innerestin’.

red yay for Nelson feelin’ better!

Cat_Glove I, too, am amazed at your mad couponin’ skilz!

Nellie Ms. Dog, Ms. Dog’s person, and you have fun at the pet parade.

Wheelie glad you are havin’ such fun on your baseball vacation.

MOOOOOOM good to know Trevor approves of his busi. I hope I spelled busi right. I can’t remember. I’m old. AWWW… RoxStar, the Tobester, and Trevor look so keeeyooote lyin’ there all together.

FlyBoy sorry about your neighbor.

shades glad you are feelin’ somewhat better.

shoe we are on pins and needles!

JtC yay for hubs safe arrival! Yay for GG havin’ his daddy back!

Forked over another $50 for peonies at the farmers’ market, then dropped a C-note+ at the grocery. At least we got rained out of the art museum trip.

Youngest son and his kids are coming over tomorrow. I haven’t chatted with him in a couple of months, and I love his girls, so it will be good. I was going to make a pot of soup, but my back has been acting up for the last couple of days and I don’t want to aggravate it. You know that glitch you get under your shoulder blade that just won’t go away?

The wife’s appointment with the dermo is finally this coming week. She’s been waiting for over two months for this. There must either be a shortage of people in that specialty or a ton of people have got skin issues.

BTW, shoe, she just like crunching ice. I offer her beverages but she wants to chomp on ice. I’m not gonna fight her. I’ll just get all bitchy here. And, no, no interest in melty ice cream.

Howdy all, Back in the hotel after spending most of the Day at the WW2 museum. It started out as the D-Day museum but expanded to cover the whole war. It’s from an American perspective (Russia and China, who suffered the most, get short mentions here and there) but is nicely put together and if you go, I recommend adding the two movies, they are very well done and the longer one did bring tears to my eyes.

So it was after 2:30pm when I got out of there and promptly went the wrong direction to find the Battle of New Orleans site, so after futzing around several suburban areas I came on back to the hotel where I need to start packing and preparing for tomorrow.

I catch my first train (The Crescent) on Sunday, it leaves New Orleans at 9:15am. I’ll park my car at the airport about 6am (I have already paid for long-term parking there) and then take a Taxi/Uber/Lyft to the station. Should not be a problem, but you know how Murphy likes to mess with things…only issue with the hotel is that while they provide an alarm clock, it is sitting on the work table 6-8 feet from the bed! Ah well, I guess it’s one way to be sure I get up as planned.

FCM, all three of them down for a nap…bet that doesn’t happen too often. My AC is usually at 77F, but I probably wear less the MIL would think proper.

red, glad Nelson is doing better.

Wheelie, good that brother’s could meet up with you, minor-league baseball can be a fun experience.

flyboy, sorry about your neighbor news, sounds like they are getting it ready for selling.

doggio, if they paid you by the steps you take, they’d have to make yu an executive given what you would be earning.

JtC, glad to hear Hubs made it in, bet GG re-adjusts to things easier now.

As noted, I never made it. But was there about 16-18 years ago so I do have a visit in. IIRC not much to see, they’ve re-built some of the parapets Jackson used and the ground the British came over hasn’t changed much, but not a lot else to see/do.

Cookie, enjoy the family time. Hope things go well for Wife.

Allrighty then, some more browsing, so dinner from Subway, and then do the packing and preparation for tomorrow morning’s train ride.

I’m worried about you, dear metal mouse of ours. You’re in New Orleans and you’re eating dinner at a Subway?

Dear boy, some of the best food in America is in New Orleans, any direction you look. Drop that Subway sub, go grab a po’boy or a muffuletta sandwich (or have door dash bring one to you).

Strawberries are in season and they pair well with rhubarb.

I’m glad that he made it safe and sound.

I love it!

Now to get his appetite back to normal.

You have an alarm clock in your phone.

Houseirk is done, Nelson is bathed and I’ve done a few things in the studio and will return to finish in a bit. Not a lot else shaking.

Hi all - 6pm ish Sat afternoon and I’m back home, laundry is churning, and BB is sound asleep alone in her bed at her house. Apparently she’s tahred.

Our Friday (the only full day of the staycation) was nice. Hotel breakfast around 10, back upstairs, then around 1pm we went for a walk down the adjacent Miracle Mile | Coral Gables in the late afternoon blazing sun and heat. We stopped at this Spanish deli-equivalent & tapas place LA JAMOTECA for lunch. The website seems to be all about their provisions, not the restaurant half of the place. Oh well, their loss. BB enjoyed a sangria made with Jerez (the Spanish variant of Porto) which was spectacular. So I bought two bottles of Jerez; one recommended as a mixer and one for sipping. I made do with a Crianza de ribero del Duero. The meal was a Spanish take on gazpacho, bechamel-stuffed roast piquillo peppers for me and a jamon iberico y manchego sandwich for BB. All wonderful.

After a long warm walk to cover the other side of the street, we repaired to the hotel long enough to take a light shower and set off in the gathering Friday afternoon traffic for BB’s amazing idea for today: Eagles Air Tours - (tripadvisor.com). She’d never ridden in a light plane before but thought I’d enjoy it and she would too.

Everything was running late with them, which was OK since I’d gotten smarter and made dinner reservations for much later. We had a fine yak with Diego, the 23yo Ecuadorian guy who would be our pilot. He was eager to pick my brain abut careers, but he was quite convinced he wanted the adventure of flying corporate jets, which he hoped to break into in the next few months. He turned out to be personable, intelligent, a diligent aviator, and an all around neat guy. He’ll go as far as he wants and starting real soon. Yaay for him, and I told him I’d love the opportunity to pick up where he is now and do it all again.

The weather was nice, enough cloud cover to keep the heat off and the turbulence down, but enough sun to give everything a nice sharp light. BB took to it after some misgivings, and the tour ended up covering a lot of the same areas she and I had shared on the ground. Which was fun, but sorta unsurprising since the tour is planned to hit Miami’s scenic highlights and our four staycations have been planned to hit … Miami’s scenic highlights.

In an amazing coincidence, the Virgin cruise ship upon which we met was just setting sail as we flew past the cruise port. We could see the crowd up on deck around the pool slamming the free cheap champagne and I pointed out the general area of the ship where my balcony had been and where gettin’ crazy got us together. So romantic!

Once back after our three one hour tour that happily did not end in shipwreck, we set off in the late dusk for a truly special dining experience at Fiola Miami. This is rated as one of the top dining experiences in the whole metro area. The local rich and famous are a common sight here. We enjoyed a fine bottle of Nebbiolo, and an amazing burrata appetizer. Next up was the wagyu beef cappalletti for her and the cioppino brodetto for me. We wrapped with a cheese plate with an Italian blue cheese made from goat’s milk, fig paste wedges, and hunks of honeycomb. With a bottle of an Antinori-based Italian desert wine I now need to find a bottle or two of.

That took about 3 hours and so nearing midnight we drove the ~3 miles home, had a very sincere and long-lasting cuddle, and fell asleep all entwined. We were far too tired for any of that actual sex stuff, but her cuddler was still in fine form. Such was Friday.

Sat I got up early and, as mentioned in my prior post, communed w y’all while she slept. Once she was up ~7:30 I went upstairs to give her the morning greeting she both wants and deserves. And receive the same in return. About the crack of 10 we showered and came down to have a tasty breakfast at Crema where I’d been that morning.

We’d arranged a late checkout at 1pm and barely made it out of the room by then. Next stop was a really fun flea market / farmers market I knew of that she’d never been to: Yellow Green Farmers Market. It’s grown a bunch since I first started coming here 10 years ago. Now it’s more of an eating and drinking destination, where every country and ethnicity of food found in Miami can be found here. Plus lots more. It’s sort of semi-indoors and semi-outdoors. The weather held up and we completed our tour just before the lightning and deluge hit. A fine meal of Argentinian street food and local microbrews was had under one of the open air buildings while we people-watched until the weather moved on and sunshine returned. By the time we were done browsing about, she had bought a large jar of homemade chimichurri, and I had bought the same, a pound and a half of Rainier cherries, and 6oz or so each of Calvestrano and Alphonso olives. Yum!

I ran her back to her house, dropped her off in the midst of other extended family dropping by, and headed home, to be alternately drowned in heavy rain and near stand-still traffic, or cruising along at speed in the bright sunshine. Such is life in SoFL.

A wonderful time was had by both. She plans to be up here on Fri & Sat night upcoming and I can hardly wait. She is so easy to hang out with and it’s so rewarding to do so.

Took us a combined 100+ years to really hit a winning combo, but here we are. At least for now.

I’ll try to catch up on at least the high points of y’alls doin’s (all 130 of 'em) in a subsequent post I’ll start here promptly.

Cheers and happy Sattidy night to all!

JtC, I’m glad cat and hubs are reunited!

One of my packages was delivered by USPS; one is MIA. It shows as delivered on Informed Delivery, but no. It also shows as suddenly leaping to a zip across the country, but this is a driver input error, relevant only in that it suggests to me that the driver was distracted at delivery and thus may have put the key in the wrong box or failed to put it in any box.

Church was great. Lots of music and dancing.
Ravioli for supper.

I just lost 90 minutes of typing, which I was pretty sure Discourse could not manage to do. Crap.

Hooray for JtC’s Hubs to return safe and sound. And the various dogs to be on the mend. I’m sorry to hear oopsie’s CVF is a useless flake. And that shoe’s dead fridge ahs been pirated.

Yaays, boos, congrats, and oh shits! as appropriate to all. I did read everyone’s stories.

With that I declare myself caught up. bang bang of the gavel.

Very impressive!

Good thinking! I also decided not to walk today.

I think the realness of the cheeseburger might have been canceled out by eating a salad instead of fries, don’t ya think??

Sorry to hear about your neighbor.

Sounds like you’re having a pretty ok time. I’m so glad!

Best news I’ve heard all day!

So cute!!!

Good

It’s been somewhere between eventful and annoying here. We did go up to dinner at one of my favorite places. Unfortunately, their a/c was just barely working. By the end of the meal I was hot and sick and ended up waiting in the car for MusicMan and my mom to finish.

Today has mostly been me being sick where I could eat about 3 bites of something and then I’d be sick until 30 minutes or so later when I was starving. Rinse and repeat.

Figured out some good news…. I decided to try my brace and orthotics in a pair of shoes other than my Hokas. So far, they’re so much easier to wear and get around! Just the fact that they aren’t as tall really helps!

Ok, getting back to work. Catch ya all later!

Hubs’ shower has a curtain, not a door. GG thinks that having a shower with dad is just great. Dad thinks wet kitty fur is not great and I’m not thrilled with the wet towels. At least the cat looks fabulous.

Hubs surprised me. I fully expected him to bring his comp with him. It is in the truck and he seems unconcerned about not defending Sanctuary in the mean time. (of course killing poor innocent monsters is mean, LOL!)
