It was quite a shock when I moved up from L.A. at the end of 2003. I’m looking all over the supermarket for brandy so that I could make steak au poivre, only to find that I had to buy it at the nearby liquor store. I was so happy when they got rid of the state monopoly, but they tax the hell out of spirits. Note to self: Stock up on sauce whenever you go to California.
Note to self…use the block of wood in the right orientation so the AC leans out. Elsewise it’ll drip inside.
Moooom:
My MIL got so demented that she couldn’t figure out if it was day or night because she forgot about looking out the window and clocks didn’t mean anything anymore. She was calling my SIL at 2:00 am to ask if it was time to get up. A giant annoyance, but not from any intention to annoy.
The executor can hire a lawyer to execute the estate.
I hope the new meds are better–keep us posted!
Dayum, that sure is pretty.
This is about 1.5mi from my residence. The camera pans now and again so you can see along the shoreline. The pier is closed for repairs so you won’t see people on it for maybe another 3 months. There is live audio of the surf, so maybe mute speakers if you’re at work before clicking.
You are a very good person to put up with all of her lack of planning.
How long were you taking it? I only gave it to GG four times, I sure hope the jerkface didn’t get sick from it.
Ladders are a no-go for hubs and I as well. Hubs has never liked getting on roofs and my hip would scream at me for a week if I tried to climb more than a step stool.
I wanted red when we bought our last set but red was super expensive so I settled for white.
The place I bought them for was so cream and white that I wanted some color. This place is very red, so I want something not red instead.
Please do take and share many pics. I’ve always appreciated feedback on my work.
Today our deaf housekeeper came over for a stitching lesson. After a few “put your needle up here and down theres”, she was soon stitching on her own. It was so cute watching her trying to get her mouth in the right spot while she worked.
She can’t really hear me and I talk funny so mostly I just had her watch my hands and then let her stitch alone.
She made mistakes. I have made all of the mistakes and made up new ones, so I was able to show her how to fix her mistakes and tomorrow I’m going to show her how to cover up a mistake that would require pulling half her work out.
She said she enjoyed her lesson and took “homework” with her so I could get her started on french knots.
I had forgotten all the things that beginners need to know, but we worked it out.
I really do wish I had my stash though. I was able to give her a couple of extra needles in the right gauge, and a needle holder but she needs scissors. She says she has nail scissors she can use, but pretty scissors make pretty projects and I have several extras in my stash. Le sigh.
Oh, hmmmm. Actually, that’s what it was like at surplus distribution before the world ended. I liked that better because I didn’t go home with 4 watermelons unless I wanted them.
Dang about the popcorn.
I wonder if he’s just going to sit in the silence and relax and decompress.
And that is just what happened. The W/D has been part of the house for all of the time we have lived there, no wonder he didn’t see them. It’s all good, shit happens and the only thing to do is to move one.
LOL!!! I might be on a diet, but I can still look at the menu!!!
That seriously sucks. I’d have been tempted to tape paper on the windows to block out the sun. I’m glad you got it done and were able to get out and start the AC in your car.
I hope the tsunami doesn’t wash you up on distant shores.
Get liquid and mix it with Churu squeezy treats. Pill pockets sometimes work as well.
I sure do hope it doesn’t come down to that, though.
Hurray! I hope your baseball trip continues to be great and that you have a wonderful time.
Evening all. Am watering the lawn (both back and front) as I type this, may have to go out and change the positions in a bit, there has been no rain in 9 days and none is predicted for another 4-5 days, so thought I would give my lawn a little treat before I leave tomorrow. Have most of my list done and got my swimmng in, so been a pretty good day. Only issue was I planned to cash a check at my bank for spending money on vacation and they were closed for Juneteenth. So will probably stop somewhere on the road to Mobile tomorrow and pick up the loot.
Oopsie, hope the workplace politics don’t end up causing you problems. Been there, but the US Government may have fewer of those issues than private industry, I don’t know.
Taters, hope both Pups and Husband keep it cool for the Fourth.
Wheelie, glad the trip went well. And I’ll be in Chicago in about 10 days, may have to see how close I’ll be to the Billy Goat…
FCM, hope the medicines work out.
Pilot, enjoy the long weekend with BB. You might even have time to go out on a date…
And whew, I have read everything but my comprehension is less than optimal, so yeas, tears, hugs, and general happiness to all.
I’m taking my laptop and cell phone with me so hopefully I can stay in contact while on my travels. Take care all.
Well, I wasn’t expecting much. Popcorn is one of those products that is actually better if it comes from a company. This stuff would only pop about halfway and was full of hulls. You’d have to be a masochist to enjoy it. No big loss to just toss it out, as it was a small bag (maybe two cups of kernels).
ding ding ding ding we have a winner!!! He always wants to help - it’s just who he is. I will talk to him about the possible fallout, tho, before he’s stuck. His aunt would do better to just have an attorney act as executor, IMHO.
That’s the plan for tomorrow. Which is fine with me - I’ll have the kids here and I can keep an eye on MIL, too. The poor guy needs a break from, well, everyone. Plus there’s stuff to do there and he likes doing that stuff.
I’ve decided that when the kids are here, we’ll wash the truck. It’s supposed to be white, but there’s much green and brown and black and crud all over it. And it’ll be a hot day, so playing with buckets of water and the hose will be a fine way to pass some time.
My new phone case came today - yay! And FCD found out he doesn’t have MRSA after all. The dermatologist knew what it was and prescribed some heavy antibiotics and a topical gel. He also looked at a spot on my sweetie’s face that he was a tad worried about (turns out it was a nothingburger) and he froze another small spot off his scalp. So a good visit for him. We also have to buy some kind of soap for use every 3 days or so on the boils/whatever they are. He liked the doc, which is also a win. We’ve had too many bad docs over the years.
I also need to look up some shoulder PT. My right shoulder has been bothering me for some time - dunno if it’s arthritis or repetitive motion pain or what, but I’m going to start with some exercises, since that’s probably what an orthopedist would do anyway. And if it doesn’t help, then I’ll consult a pro. It’s not debilitating pain, but it still hurts, especially when I try to reach behind me (like to put trash in the bag in the car.) So, yeah, it’s always something.
For now, tho, I think I’ll have a little Mel and read myself to sleep. Yeah, it’s early, but I’s tahred.
Oh, NO! He needs to start thinking about himself once in a while. He doesn’t always have to say “yes” just because it’s family.
That really brought tears to my eyes because it explained what happened to my loved ones who were reaching the end of their days.
I have never heard of bread in a can before, but you gotta just know that I’m going to eat some before the end of the month!
And this is why I hide from the sun. I’m a weenie, I had one piece cut off and went into sun allergic mode ever since.
Divorce. She’s taking the boy and moving back to CA, he has never done laundry in his life and doesn’t know how to use the washer she has now…she doesn’t see any reason to bring new ones in. Plus, she never got to have a dryer ever because the gas would be too expensive, she certainly doesn’t want him to have one now.
Oh yeah! Most of my floozy times came with swimmers or body builders. Many fun things can happen with both body types.
I’m also a big fan of ballet. Those little dancers might float through the air, but someone’s gotta catch them and lift them and spin them. In spandex body suits. Yum.
I approve of this choice!
There are still dry counties in Kentucky and Illinois. You can’t buy any form of booze there. Of course, weed is still a big NoNo, but I have seen stores selling CBD products.
AZ has drive thro liquor stores and there are several drive thro dispensaries in the Valley of the Sun.
Oopsie!
I’m glad you found the leak before you went to bed.
That is just beautiful.
Now, how about Cole’s pic? Have I missed it?
Oh, you sweet summer child.
There are Tai Chi classes on line. I haven’t found a class yet, but pull up my senior TC class every day because I can feel it in my joints when I miss it.
So Hubs just called. He’s in Vega Texas and it seems as though he’s driving that rental like he stole it. If he gets himself killed I will never forgive him as long as I live.
Thank you!
I like to make bourbon cocktails. Recipe: Pour bourbon into a glass, and serve.
The rum is for Hemingway daiquiris in our Nick and Nora glasses.
He’s missing his ‘boys’. Good responsible doggie daddy!
Happily, I’m a Retired Drain on Society so nobody but me will see it. Does he have a ticklish belly or do you rub it every time you can? Cause that’s what I do when Gormless George lays on his back.
You’ve got some good looking puppers!
I will confess to looking there first
We play with them on the lawn every chance we get. Sometimes tummy up, mostly dog on dog play. The best boys.
Hey, you stole my line. I knew there was something I liked about you.
Safe travels metal mouse! Looking forward to vicariously traveling along.
Accomplished most of my tasks including a load of laundry but not all as I got very tired late afternoon so took an almost 3 hr nap. Hope I don’t have trouble getting to sleep tonight.
Trained at the training place ( this is the train that never ends).
Their a/c went out so they had fans all over.
I am 70% done, my online site tells me.
Tomorrow I must memorize the containers, the how many sauces go with what special, etc.
Came home, had a bowl of strawberries, then spaghetti for supper.
Up from naptime, making Teriyaki chicken stirfry for dinner.
In addition it being Juneteenth today(Yay freedom!), it’s National Martini Day. So I had one(Spot for scale)
Channeling her inner swampy.
Yay!
Love the From Dusk Till Dawn mural there.
doggio How you make a martini blue?
Or are you cheating with a blue glass.?
Tell it the Story of Your Life.
