Erranding went well. I was able to do my UPS dropoff at CVS, so that saved me a stop. And I got what I was going to get at Aldi when I was at Mart of Wal, so that saved another stop. Only bummer was that Food Lion was out of frozen peas-n-carrots and I forgot to check at the aforementioned Mart. Dammit.
I just finished lunch and I’m about to head out to the shop and help FCD do some cleaning. And I pulled out some ham for supper.
Oh, yeah, and enroute to erranding, while I was passing the elementary school during drop-off time, lights flashing to indicate a slower speed limit, this ass in a black BMW SUV passed me ON THE SHOULDER and continued speeding down the road. Less than a minute later, I pulled up next to him (her?) at a red light. So what exactly was accomplished?? There’s never a sheriff/stater trooper when you need one.
Slightly less stressful heaving today. Although the one route had nothing but giant box bulk loads, they really through everything and the kitchen sink(Kohler, stainless steel) at him. I also had to help one of the other drivers get the locking chain that was stuck in the back step grating on his package car(push, then pull). And for the final magic rick I had to move a 109lbs Next Day Air Dodge part from the back belt to the package car(borrowed the driver’s hand car, and dragged it up the steel steeps back to the belt. I hit Teeter afterwards, they had kosher salt back in stock after the ice storm, but were still out of Old Bay. The pool grinding/blasting continues today.
I used the bathroom at Giant Eagle yesterday. The seats are unusually low.
I had to grab the large tp dispenser and really struggle to rise.
Later that night I feel it in my lower back. Put some cream on it.
Coming home to my building today, an ambulence pulls up as Im almost to the door.
A neighbor is lying on the floor inside. Hope she’ll be ok.
When we redid the bathroom in the basement from the flood last year, we replaced the toilet with a chair height one. It is so much more comfortable than a regular height. We are considering replacing the toilet in the master bath now.
Just reporting that I have done nothing useful except have a Second Breakfast (pancakes and some applesauce) to add enough calories to justify (to my finicky mind) that I should go to the gym, which I will do shorty.
FCM, most of the streets here have shoulders that drop down enough that some Beamer-head would end up in the ditch…where I can laugh at him. The one spot I detest is near a four-way light, the road going north just passed the light goes from 2 to 1 lane about 1/10 of a mile past the light and the…persons…who stay in the right and then try to barge their way in will hopefully have a special level of hell to reside in.
As for ter-let seats, I seem to…do my business…better when I’m sitting a little lower. Bowels are mysterious things…
And best get into the exercise clothes and head on out.
Thursdays are housekeeper days at shay moy. Sadie usually hides under the bed, but today she was very brave, perching on the arm of my chair and being reassured by me that “it’s okay”. It’s nice that she trusts me to protect her.
That’s actually pretty impressive. I’ve never known of an apartment building that did that before. Is it yearly?
I think that’s Hub’s handwriting on the sign, it sure does look familiar!
I’m just going by the weatherguessers, I won’t plant anything outside until at least April. I wasn’t happy with the results of my veggy patch last year, not enough sun. This year I’m putting posies in there and planting veggies in bags in the back yard. I’ve got two varieties of Milkweed I will be starting when they arrive and I’ll start the tomatoes around the end of the month.
Hubs thought the fuzzbutts would like some grass so bought a (very nice looking) heavy pot and some grass seed, then brought the potting soil inside so I could fill the pot and plant the grass. I’m not sure why he couldn’t do that part, but whatever. The grass is a couple of inches tall now, tomorrow I’ll put the pot on the floor under my lemon tree for their grazing pleasure.
It is indeed very sad news.
Most of my stuff is very repetitive as well. This piece is a snowman that I bought at an auction a while back. I don’t usually do that sort of thing but it was for a good cause. It really is a lot of fun and I’ll probably mount it and display it next winter, but wow. It’s an awful lot of work and even good ol’ David Attenborough reruns are too distracting when I’m counting each thread for ever stitch.
Can you make a roll up path out of scrap wood? Roll it out after things freeze and roll it back up and put it away in the spring?
Well that certainly sounds like a not fun time. I’m glad you were aware as to what the issue was and knew that it would wear off in time. That had to be a little helpful. I hope you sleep well tonight.
When I was working, we usually had fobs. Many of us left them in our car. Once in a while one of us would forget our fob and do a very recognizable walk of shame back to the car to get it.
When I worked at a swim club in Wake County, mumbley-mumbley years ago, we had to drain our pools for inspection. That also gave us an opportunity to repaint.
Both of our upstairs terlits are chair height. We rarely use the one in the basement, but should it need to be replaced, it’ll be a tall one, too. Soooooooo nice!
The shoulders here are really wide for the Amish buggies, so they’re almost like driving lanes, and far too many idiots take advantage of that.
For 100’? Even if we had that much scrap wood, nope, it wouldn’t happen. FWIW, I walked the cleared path when I went to help clean the shop, and while it’s icky, I never felt like I’d slip, either going down or coming up.
Speaking of shop cleaning, first round of cleaning went pretty well. I’ll go back next week and clean up the dust that settles in the interim. plus I’ll move some more machines and clean under them. Sawdust and fiberglass dust was everywhere! Thank goodness for shop vacs!
Time now for chillage. FCD had a late lunch, so supper will be grazing.
My dad and sisters are tall people. When both Dad and Sis replaced their toilets, they went with handicapped height ones. I wish mine were that (right now, I’m using a toilet riser). Sis says that she doesn’t feel like she’s using a kindergarden potty now.
City codes in some locales require it.
Just finishing up lunch, so it’s time to start laundry once I move my butt from my chair.
You guys are slackers, my Dad had enough scrap to make pathways like that by the time I was 16. Of course that was after he added another wing to the house with 4 bedrooms, a large bathroom and a laundry room.
I know the pool at the gym gets drained and inspected on a regular basis, I was doubting that apartment management would be that proactive without being forced into compliance.
I know you are renting, but is upgrading your toilet a possibility with your lease? Like, could you tell them you are going to have a licensed plumber install a tall toilet with a bidet and you understand that you will be leaving it if you ever move? If you have power somewhere by your toilet, you can even get a bidet with warm air drying. (we only have one of those, my bathroom was kinda shoehorned in behind a closet and the wiring is weird.)
We have learned that sealed cans of kerosene are ordered in the fall and none are available here locally. Not wanting to pay the hefty delivery fees, we will be going to Charleston to pick up a can there. We can make sure that our new heaters work, then put them in the attached storage and buy enough kerosene for three days in the fall. It doesn’t degrade like gasoline and is safe to store, especially in the sealed cans.
While we are in Charleston, we will probably go to the good Asian place for a late lunch and stop at Aldi on the way home. He likes their mixed nuts and I’m a big fan of their cider. They might have bread cheese again, I haven’t found it the last few times I’ve been there and I’m missing it.
Howdy Y’all! We were bears who lunch and did the Aldi’s run. Needless to say that wore us out, so nappage was sorely needed. We sat out by the cee-mint pond and day drank beerverages. Soon it will be time to get it ready for the season. I have had a small turkey defrostin’ the last several days. Sattidy is VD and we shall have a romantic early sup of turkey ‘n dressin’, collard greens, squish casserole, baby Lima beans, rolls and cheesecake. OYKW will make the cheesecake tomorrow. We have highboy terlets in both bathrooms. They really do make it feel like sittin’ on the throne.
So sad to learn about sunny. She will be greatly missed.
Maus hope you have gotten over the meds mixup and sleep well tonight. You are not alone as we’ve all BTDT with meds.
Taters maybe it’s a sign from the universe that it’s rime for you to find a new stylist.
JtC thanks for the link to 99 Red Balloons . There was a time many moons ago when I would have had an ear worm for days whenever I heard it, but not now.
Coppertone when I was junior warden over to the church house, several ladies told me they had a difficult time gettin’ off the terlet. I had simple grab bars installed and I was a hero.
I have a story about the singer Back when I lived in Hawaii, I used to be able to see a lot of up-and-coming European artists perform in local bars and one of them was Nena. They were putting a nice show and a mosh pit formed by the stage.
Suddenly she stopped the show because she was concerned about the pushing and shoving. She told us that there was enough room for everyone and that we all should be polite and take turns coming up front to take pictures.
Bless her heart
It was a good show all around, that was my favorite part though.
Gotta love that cleaning makes everything covered in dust. I did my by-weekly compressor blow out of the museum’s shop today, yanno, taking the air gun and hosing off all the tools, corners, etc where the dust settles, then waited 10 minutes, swept, and did it again. Almost as much dust the second time. This is apparently a new practice there, the other shop people were wondering what the heck I was doing when I started the practice a year ago, but now the consensus is that a clean shop is a safer and happier shop.
The exhibit we pulled from the floor is rounding into water tight. Just a bit of sanding and some caulk and cleaning, and it’ll be ready to go back on the floor. It had been leaking for… well I started a year ago and since before then.
JtC Cool story about Nena.
Maus Hope the meds cancel each other out and you can have some rest!
We’re evidently getting a new elevator sometime in the next year that will have an employees only fob for access to the basement shop area. Currently that is prevented by a small laminated card that says “Staff only” taped over the button for the basement. Which is why I had to run down stairs last week when I saw a little guy, maybe 6, with no shoes on, get on the elevator by himself. Turned out he was just bored waiting for his sister to finish playing and riding the elevator from 1 to 2 was more fun. Never did find out where mom 'n dad were.
I’ve considered that. BIL’s bestie is even a licensed plumber. The warm air drying feature isn’t possible though, given that I have no electric outlet in the bathroom (When Sis toured the apartment, she loved the abundance of outlets in the living room and bedroom, but failed to notice that there was one, nearly inaccessible one in the kitchen and none in the bathroom).
Sometimes Aldi runs stuff seasonally, sometimes, onetime buys, so good luck.
Laundry is done, clothes folded and put away, although, the towels still need to be.
That’s not horrible, I like the one in his bathroom, but I don’t spend a whole lot of time crying if I have to dry my own tush.
That’s much closer to horrible IMHO, but I can see how easy it would be to miss them at first look. I have one outlet in my bathroom but it only works when the light is turned on. We had new outlets wired into the kitchen last year because there weren’t enough and Hubs is a tech bro. He counted them and thought that four sets in the kitchen would be enough.
I napped. I dreamed I was in some sort of Jaws/Lifestyles Of The Rich and Famous mashup, where the shark was flying around destroying yachts, piers, and buildings, and eating the rich while singing rhymes. Up now, having a Mai Tai, Smoked Paprika chicken with cheesy N.O.T. rounds and green beans. Watching the USA/Latvia men’s hockey game.
Almost 11pm and late night final is living up to it’s name. Exercised about 1,600 calories off and have put most of them back this afternoon/evening, but it was still a net loss by my way of figuring since I only ate about 1,400 calories before exercise. Have the Firday shopping list ready for tomorrow morning and bought (on-line) a couple of seat covers for the front seats, the seats are white (or very Beige) and while I’ve kept them reasonable clean in time they will get messy, so seat covers seem to be a good idea…just had to wait until they came out for the new models.
Cookie, good news about Sadie.
Given your…habits…I did have a momentary double-take on this comment. And hope the shopping was successful.
VanGo, glad the exhibit is looking good, as is the shop. And good on ya’ for looking out for the young’un since his parent were apparently not up to the job.
And it’s now 11:05pm and my energy levels have reached ‘go the hell to bed’ levels, so I’ll talk with y’all tomorrow. Take care.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 34 degrees Ferret Height(1.111 Centipedes). The Large Latex Pig has been defenstrated in the course of Screaming Tuxedo Zoomies.
Also tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and today is Friday the 13th, so it’s the perfect day to axe out your crush.
