(Old) OK, I’ll Start the MMP

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 3c/37f with a predicted high of 4c/39f and showers. Weather app says “Rain equals a fucking car wash FTW!! It might be a fucking dirty car wash though.” It was raining when I left home, and when I got to campus, and it’s still raining now. I have the window open though!

I would be irritated too, but a good stylist is someone to hang on to unless they’re really annoying, then you do need to find someone better and more reliable. Sounds like a very frustrating day for you.

Maus I’m sorry to hear about the medication mix-up, I hope everything evens out for you soon.

My irk-day was not too irksome in the end, I got stuff done and Troublesome Minion was not too troublesome. I have something I need to try and fix for my other minion while he’s away, but I’m not sure how far I can get with that. The commute home was uneventful, for a change. ‘im indoors made roast pork for dinner which was very nice, but I was annoyed this morning because he washed dishes after I’d gone to bed, and didn’t empty the water out of the bowl. That means today it’s cold and greasy, and there will be a ring of scummy muck round the sides of the bowl. I hope he cleans that up before I get home tonight, otherwise I’ll probably hit him with a brick.

It’s another wet and gloomy day here, but I should have a relatively easy day today. I’ve fixed a couple of problems this morning already, and I am only on my third cup of tea! Tonight, a friend of ours and his band are playing in a pub near us, so we might stroll round for some entertainment. The roofer should be coming tomorrow but ‘im indoors is irritated that the guy hasn’t replied to messages confirming the verbal quote he gave us last week. I have a nasty feeling that if he doesn’t respond and still turns up in the morning, ‘im indoors will send him packing and we’ll be back to square one trying to get the house fixed.

Oh well, problems for another day!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 41 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 67 and sunny. I shall be a kitchen domestic today. Dressin’ will get made up, giblets cooked for the gravy, squish casserole made up, collards cooked, and deviled aigs made. This will happen after OYKW gets the cheesecake in the oven. I have promised to go over to the church house tomorrow mornin’ for a little while to get some azaleas in the ground. I will take care of candle duty whilst there. I may be in danger of losin’ RDOS cred over the next couple of days. Sup will be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.

BooFae surely ‘im indoors will clean the ick up, that is if he knows what’s good for him.

doggio there needs to be a Texas Chainsaw Massacre VD card. I just know there’s a market for it. Would you go on a date if Lizzie Borden axed you? Zombie Lizzie Borden With An Axe is a movie that just begs to be made! My brain has gone to weird places. Maybe I have had enough caffeine.

Now I need more caffeine (possibly not) and to feed rumbly tummy. Then kitchen domesticity awaits! Rah.

Happy FIRDAY THE THIRTEENTH Y’all!

Morning all.

Sad to hear about Sunny, I had noticed she’d been absent a while, assumed it was just stuff happening.

Had a somewhat Friday 13thish start to the day- got woken up by 2 people messaging me- one the person who offered to feed the ratties saying that her car’s making strange noises and she’s taken it in to get fixed, which means, as she’s away at the weekend and won’t be back until Monday early evening, she won’t have a car until Tuesday meaning she won’t be able to come until Tuesday.

The other message was the backup emergency person saying his fiance’s Dad (who lives in the US) has been taken seriously ill so he’s going to be away the whole week.

The original sitter has said in an emergency she can come Monday, but it would maybe require a taxi, which is a bit ££.. Hopefully I can find someone else just to do that one day, but damn… That’s a lot of combined suckiness hitting the area.

Anyway, I’ll be ‘W’ FH today. I don’t think I’ll be doing much, just finishing off a few bits, then packing will begin in earnest. I think I may need to go shopping for things like socks without holes as well.

Ugh - today has started at 21 Ferrets, but if the long range forecast isn’t lying, our days will be 40s, 50s, and 60s henceforth, with only a few nights going below freezing. Huzzah! Especially since I won’t be getting the pellet stove fixed till the special deal for chimney cleaning kicks in come April. They weren’t able to get me on the work schedule till March, and less than a month later, I’d be scheduling again, so that’s what I told the nice lady at Superior. She’s made a note on her calendar to call me when the special kicks in and I’ll arrange for everything to be done then. It’ll be $$$ anyway because both chimneys need to be swept. It’s been 3 years since the basement exhaust tube was cleaned (we don’t use that fireplace all that much.) Anyway, we’ll be using up our heating oil, which is probably good anyway - we can get some fresh stuff in the tank.

And, of course, it’s Laundry Day!!! Since I’ll be stuck at home several hours, I can make some phone calls that I keep forgetting to make. And maybe (finally) dust - it’s dusty enough that it’s actually bothering me. I may even damp-mop the kitchen - it’s not so much for crud as for the water spots that Otis drips all over the place when he gets a drink. He can’t keep his beard dry.

I, also, was wondering about sunny on and off recently. It’s a double-whammy of sad because she was younger than I am. That always hits me hard - younger folks aren’t supposed to be dying.

I want to start the next MMP, if I wake up early enough. Being a long-term RDOS (Holy crap - it’s been 6 years since I retired the second time!!!) I’ve gradually been going to bed later and waking up later. Well, getting up later - I still might wake before 5, but since I don’t generally fall asleep till after 11 or so, I’ll doze off again. Anyway, we’ll see what happens on Moanday. I’m even going to write it up now, so I don’t forget my brilliant topic! Plus it’s not date-dependent, so it’ll work whenever…

And so the day begins. Here’s an article on the origins of this day’s significance, in case anyone wonders. Let’s be careful out there and have a Happy Firday!!

Ash (I think it was Ash) turned off my CPAP twice last night. That’s a startling sensation.

Then he managed to close himself in my closet this morning. Which is alarming because my closet wasn’t open. He managed to open it and then close it behind him.

He’s lucky he’s cute.

Only 20 now, but they claim we’ll have 35 this afternoon. The predicted count is increasing slowly but surely – we’ll finally have 40 on Washington’s Birthday, and Wednesday night should be the first night with 32 or more. Now if the Canadians will keep their weather from slipping its leash again, and make it stay home… .

Today would have been my brother’s 87th birthday.

Mornin’ all.

It’s 42F, dark and cloudy outside. Morning showers will give way to steady afternoon rain, with a daytime high of 48°F.

Mr. Taters went grocery shopping yesterday and surprised me with a dozen red roses for Valentine’s Day. We usually just let the day pass, but it was very kind of him. They are sitting on the table by the window so I can enjoy them while in the great room.

BooFae, yes, let’s hope 'im indoors clean out the gross wash tub. Mr. Taters has a habit of leaving his used pod in my Keurig. It’s just a little thing, but it drives me insane because I get to start the day cleaning up after someone before I’ve even had a cup of coffee. It happened to me again this morning. And yes, my stylist is good, but I think she sometimes takes advantage of my good nature. Until I can find a stylist, I’m stuck with her, but I am looking around.

I don’t have any real plans for today. Maybe some laundry, dusting and rollsucking. I need to see about getting my ducts cleaned. The house becomes dusty too quickly, and the ducts and vents need cleaning. It’ll be spendy, and I was hoping for the money I’m due to show up by now. It hasn’t, so I keep putting it off.

Alrighty, time for another cup of coffee. Take care of yourselves, don’t break any mirrors or walk under any ladders.

Last night, we watched the watched the NASCAR Duels, which are something like preliminary races leading up to the Daytona 500 Sunday. I think they were once called “Duals,” because there were two. I haven’t the patience to track down the history, so feel free to fill in the blanks with your own answers, real and imaginary.

Today in Elkhart, Indiana we have 17 foggy ferrets, with a predicted high of 46.

I yoga’d last night and fell asleep during Shavasana. We then picked up some taco salads from the Mexican joint across the parking lot from the studio. I took my trazadone after dinner and was out like a light two hours later. I am up and refreshed, and my brain seems to be working correctly this morning.

It was 30ºF at 5:00 this morning, so Chloé and I went out. The first mile mostly consisted of her stopping to sniff every random tuft of grass before we got into our stride. I got home, took my morning meds (at the correct time this time!) and made some oatmeal for breakfast. I’ve got my Friday Power Flow class in a couple of hours and then it’s off to the café a friend of our owns to pick up Mrs Magill’s Valentine’s gift, a coffee, cupcake, and flower bundle. The proceeds are being donated to a local charity. I’ll also pick up a BLT wrap and whatever Mrs Magill would like.

We really don’t have anything planned for Valentine’s Day, but we never really do. Why break a twenty-seven year tradition?

Off to the salt mines.

Amazingly, our state tax refund was deposited yesterday! Wonder how long the Feds will take.

And I was poking around in my assorted files on my PC and found the booking summary for the cruise my mom and I took in 2014. It has info that should help the person who’s supposed to be calling me from Princess. So that’s a relief, I hope. Just hope I get a call soon. I suppose I could respond to the email with the info - I’ll check to see if it’s a no-reply address.

I’ve gotten FCD’s laundry basket and started the first load. I suppose I could dust. Yeah, I could. Dare I tempt the Fates??

Must consider the ramifications…

I had a job interview yesterday, with a Canadian company opening a facility locally. It went well, but I’m sure they’re looking for someone with manufacturing experience, instead of someone looking for a career change.

On the way home, I got off the freeway. There’s a Nexus office there. Why not? [Spoiler: I already knew why not.] I went in the door and the first things I see are Mr. Potato Head’s and Puppy Killer’s ugly mugs. But I did ask if they were hiring, just so I wouldn’t look like a suspect, and was told of a website. Yeah… No. I wouldn’t mind helping to facilitate international travel, but CBP seems too close to ICE. And I’m already losing my job. I don’t want to lose my wife and the cars too.

I’m not sure if you know this, but the 50G sign up bonus? That is paid over five years and is taxed so you would only see around 7 grand on each bonus check.

If you quit or are fired in the five year qualifying period, you will be required to pay the full bonus back. What that means is if you got hired and lasted for a year and got your first 7G, but something happened and department cutbacks happened and you lost your job, you would be responsible for paying back the entire 10G, not just the 7 and change you received.

@Johnny_L.A - I have my fingers crossed for you. For the first paragraph, that is.

@JaneDoe42 - Oh yeah, those ICE ICE Baby men are so screwed when they’re eventually shit-canned. It couldn’t happen to nicer folks.

Morning all. The Firday shopping is complete but man it hurts anymore to go shopping. At least the shiny blob of heat is out, albeit it is only 53F heading to 62F, which upon reflection isn’t all that bad for mid-February.

boo fae, your Weather app did remind me I need to take my car to the carwash soon, but of course it’s due to rain Sunday, so maybe while out on Moanday… Hope the house guy gets his act together.

swampy, sounds like the quite the feast is in the offing.

Well, you certainly had enough of something… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Nut, good luck with the rat-watcher situation.

FCM, sounds like the pellet stove is a popular thing out your way, don’t know if I have ever heard anyone mention it around here. And I promise not to start the next MMP (like you, I like staying in bed past 7am…).

Pavo, sounds like the cat is trying to murder you and provide himself an alibi…because cats…

Taters, that was nice of the Mr. to bring flowers home. Expect the stores to be jammed with husbands the next couple of days…

Knots, is it Daytona 500 time already? Next thing you know The Masters (only golf tournament I try to watch) will be coming along.

FCM, Ali-bama is always several weeks behind the Feds on refunds, so conga-rats to Merry-Land for getting cash back in your pocket so quickly.

Flyboy, best of luck with the job hunt, hope something suitable comes along soon.

And just about time to get a couple sammiches and some Diet Pepsi in my belly. Probably will run the dishwasher while I’m at the gym this afternoon since soccer will still be keeping me busy for the next two weekends. Take care all.

Those are my words to Nelson on a regular basis.

It’s been so long since I’ve lived in a state with income tax that I don’t even think about a refund / payment. Neither Tennessee nor Texas has one, but when I lived in Indiana, I tended to pay more in state income taxes than federal, plus, there was usually a local one.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I woke up around 0730 as usual this morning, but a certain small, reddish dog was in the mood to cuddle. We cuddled / napped for about an hour, so now I’m lazing around a bit later in the day. Oh, well!

Happy Firday the 13th!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

As for Val’s Day, we pretty much ignore it. I’m sure I’ve told this before, but some decades ago when we were young and gainfully employed in Florida, I baked a couple of heart-shaped cakes for each of us to take to work. They were frosted in pink with red lettering saying “Happy VD!!” Because I was so clever and edgy and all.

On Weds, we’ll be going to a boat stuff store across the bay. We’ll drop Otis off for day care and grooming, so we’ll get a nice clean doggie back. We’ll take him there early then we’ll stop enroute for brunch. He’ll have a blast - he loves that place.

First load in the dryer, second in the washer, one more to go. Still haven’t dusted. Who cares? :stuck_out_tongue:

When did I buy my Oxo Good Grips turner/spatula? I’m pretty sure I bought it at least 15 years ago (at Bed Bath & Beyond). I sometimes use it to flatten patties. Recently it’s felt like it’s buckling in the middle. But it’s holding up… until this morning. It did not break in the middle. One corner looks like it’s about ready to break off. The replacement will be here tomorrow.

I also ordered two, 2-pound blocks of Tillamook Medium Cheddar. $35.07 for four pounds of cheese ($8.7675/pound) including tax. I don’t know how that compares to Costco or Chef’s Store, but now I don’t have to go to those places. I’m told it will arrive between 10:00 and 12:00 today.

Last day in Top Red. It wasn’t bad per se, but the one car had another 29 box big box bulk order for Cititrends, and the other one had a 40 box order for a CVS, and 15 huge boxes for a midwife joint. I got it crammed in, though. i stopped and got gas, and hit the Aldi for a hunk of salmon for tonight’s dinner. I made a bowl o’ oatmeal(apples, cinnamon and ginger) and and everything bagel. When I was washing the oat dust out of the oatmeal Tupperware, I started wondering how much oat dust would you need to create a small grain elevator like explosion?

I’m suprised Troma hasn’t made it, considering they did The Toxic Avenger, Class of Nuke 'Em High, and Redneck Zombies.

Maybe make some rattie sweaters with the hole-y ones?

Spot hasn’t figured out how to do that. Yet.

Or a couple of bootlegger/races were taking pot shots at each other at the apex of Turn 4.

And F1 testing, with Verstappen already needing a whaaaambulance.

That and the local Chinese place doesn’t do pick ups(I asked the delivery guy the one time Gordie and his buddy were acting out)

I love the smoked Cheddar.

I use it for shredded cheese, not eating out-of-hand. Got other cheeses for that.

The Spousal Unit just laughed at me. ‘You have half a dozen spatulas, and you have to replace that one!’ I told her, ‘Yes. That’s the one I use all the time.’ She said, ‘I know. It’s for the non-stick pans.’

Well, it’s Friday the 13th. So, to show the world you’re not superstitious, let’s put together a list of things to do!

Walk under a black cat.

Light 4 things with one match.

Sweep under the feet of an unmarried woman.

Break a promise in front of a mirror.

If you and your pickle walk on opposite sides of a lamp post, say, “Bread and butter.”

Step on a crack, without worrying about your mother.
