(Old) One last shot of white stuff in the MMP

Up from naptime. Having a Puritan and Cioppino(Bachelor Food style). Watching Drive To Survive on Netflix.

This.

Quick late night final as 11pm is sneaking up on me. Have done nothing of consequence except carefully monitor my fluid intake after 6pm and see if that influences how much I have to go tomorrow (and I promise, no more micturation updates).

JtC, guess deer hunting isn’t in season or the deer instinctively knows yours is a safe house. And I can just imagine the feline reaction…

red , your probably right, most of my fluid intake is carbonated beverages, but I am trying to moderate it some. And I do about the same amount of sweating each day, so that shouldn’t be an influence…it is a puzzlement, but as long as I only have 2-3 days like that in a month I am not too worried.

And off to Slumberland I go. For the first time in a couple months I don’t have to set the alarm for 6:30am Sattiday for soccer, so I can (maybe) sleep in. We will see.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 42 degrees Ferret Height(5.556 Centipedes) and cloudy.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 49 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 68 and partly sunny. I shall betake myself to the church house this mornin’ to fill all two candles, change the hymn board and a couple other things. That should take all of fifteen minutes. Then I will find the cord/shoelace I want for my Lay Minister Cross. Think I’ll ask OYKW if he wants me to pick up some McLunch whilst I am out. If not, then any need to feed will be via forage. Tomorrow is first Sunday brunch, so Ima make some crock pot ‘cue, a cabbage casserole and a chawklit cake with chawklit/pee-kahn icin’. That’ll keep me bzzy for a while.

doggio happy doperversary!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall purtify and don somewhat acceptable attire for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. I think sweatpants, tshirt, socks, sneaks, and a hoodie should suffice.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Starting the day at 26 Ferrets, on the way to 60-ish. The week ahead will be, um, interesting, with a high of 37 Ferrets on Moanday, 73 Ferrets or Saturday, and assorted Ferrets in between. At least they’re now admitting that the predicted snow will be not much more than a dusting.

Our 'lectric co-op offers programmable thermostats (for free) that work with an app. The app records usage with bar charts showing how much the HVAC runs every day by the month. It’s easy to see that our pellet stove died in late Jan - our furnace ran a total of 42 hours, most of it from the 24th on. Feb’s total as of the 26th is 81 hours and will likely exceed 90 (possibly 100) when the last 3 days are added. Which reminds me - I need to have a peek at the oil tank gauge. And lay a fire in the basement for the kids today.

Since I have 2 hunks of corned beef to cook, I’ll be doing a comparison. One will be going in the slow cooker around 9-ish and the other will go in a big pot on the stove top around 1230-ish. Most of the veggies will go on the stove top, but I’ll put some in the crock pot. We’ll see how it goes.

Last night while crocheting, I decided to watch the old Moulin Rouge with Jose Ferrer. Then I looked up the biography of Toulouse-Lautrec Just to compare with the movie. They glossed over his, er, activities with prostitutes, blaming his death on alcohol with no reference to syphilis, which isn’t surprising, considering when the movie was made (1952). And the acting struck me as a tad over-the-top. But I found it interesting that they showed him drawing - from the angle of the shot, I’m willing to bet that the hand holding the charcoal was an actual artist rather than Ferrer. Another thing that I’m pretty sure was an oops - there was a scene where he was standing next to a woman and the shadow cast to his right showed his feet held up behind him. He did the full-body scenes on his knees, except distant shots of him walking - that was a double. Anyway, it wasn’t a bad way to pass the evening.

Oh, and Zsa Zsa Gabor was in it, and I’m pretty sure her singing was dubbed, somewhat poorly. But she was a beautiful woman way back then. She was 99 when she died in 2016.

More than any of you wanted to know, I’m sure…

Happy doggio-versary! And good luck in your cord search, swampy!

Happy Saturday!!

@dogbutler

Happy cake day!

In my old hometown, Anderson, Indiana the Eisenhower bridge originally had electrically heated sections in the sloped part of the bridge. They kept the bridge free of ice until they quit working, one section at a time. The city government’s decision to build the big 4-lane bridge had been a struggle, (in my vague memory) and when the heaters failed they were not repaired. There was probably a lot of “I told you so,” but I don’t remember that part. The previous bridge was lower, and was flooded over a few times a year. I remember announcements in school telling the kids who lived on the east side of the river to go home early before the bridge was under water.

Oh, dear! We’re at war again.

Morning all. Have broken fast and have to referee soccer at 12:30pm, but besides that there is nothing much on the schedule, have done the 3-month budget (I try to do the current month and two more, they just fit on a legal sheet and I can add/subtract each month). Tomorrow will be the first of March and I probably will spend it doing my taxes, can get Turbo-Tax on-line and it integrates with the previous years version, so hopefully it won’t be too painful. Supposed to get to 72F today with no rain in sight, so a good weekend weather-wise.

swampy, my black geezer frames are my backup pair, my primary is pretty much clear. Happy church-irk and cord-seaching.

FCM, I can check consumption via the utility website, but usually just rely on the bill to show me how much I have been using (it has been a mild winter so not to bad). Haven’t seen the old Moulin Rouge in many years, completely forgot Zsa Zsa was in it.

Knots, oh dear indeed…

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 37F and mostly cloudy this morning. For the afternoon, we’ll have partly cloudy skies and a daytime high of 52F.

Metal Mouse, foods higher in sodium content can make you urinate more, especially at night. I know you eat out a lot, some of that food could be responsible.

Doggio, happy cake day!

Swampy, good luck with the cord search.

JtC, my dogs become excited whenever a squirrel has the gall to sit on my privacy fence or actually climb down into the garden. Much barking ensues, along with running up and down the back fence line. Deer can’t get into my yard, and they stopped appearing in my neighborhood years ago. There has been too much development up here on the Hill.

There was a part of the campus at the university my son attended that had heated pavement. They were quite proud of it. He attended school on the far east side of the state, where it snows and blows quite a bit.

I spent the late morning and most of yesterday afternoon watching the latest F1: Drive to Survive season on Netflix. It covered the 2025 racing season. My husband watched with me, and we binged every episode. This season had only eight episodes, but they were still good. Some drama concerning Red Bull and some driver and principle changes. I look forward to the next season.

Knots, I’m glad the knee pads will make things more comfortable to you. I saw the same thing on the news this morning.

Welp, it’s time for more coffee. Then I’ll finish cleaning the kitchen. After that, it’s time for laundry.

Just loaded my Alexa brain with reminders for making supper. Since I’m doing slow cooker and stove top, the timing is the thing. Rather than try to remember, I took both recipes and wrote the time for each step. That’s what I entered as reminders. Plus I added stuff like set the table and start a fire in the basement. (That sounds rather anti-social, doesn’t it? :open_mouth: ) I have about 30 minutes till the first reminder.

I took pellets out to the shop for FCD and brought back a cart full of wood scraps to be burned. They’ll be good as kindling. I’ll also need to bring in a few big logs. While it’s a mild day, it’s still chilly in the basement.

So I think I have everything organized. We shall see how it goes.

That wouldn’t be a Mississippi Mud Cake would it? Mom used to make them. I made one once for a cow-orker’s birthday because that’s what he requested.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Sis will be over this afternoon to go to the plant swap. We’ll spend about an hour there, then find some trouble to get into.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy cake day Doggio!

TBH, game is always safest around houses because you aren’t allowed to shoot within 300yards from an occupied home. Ain’t nobody wants the across the street neighbor shooting deer in their front yard.

Human bodies tend to have regular monthly cycles for maintenance and repair. Doesn’t matter that you are a male or that you are well past menopause age, it still happens. It just isn’t that noticeable.

So, if this is normal for you, I wouldn’t worry about it that much.

I poked around in my thread bin and found some nice shiny black silk thread, some black wool and enough metallic silver to make a 36 inch cord. Not that flashy but with interesting texture. Jolene has never seen me making cord, spinning 144 inches of thread across a room might prove to be interesting.

I loved her in Green Acres. I so much wanted to grow up to be a pampered airhead like her, LOL!

“Some of you may die but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.”

I’m thinking about hanging out at the capital this afternoon. My hip is still screaming though.

Change your furnace filters. Clean out your dishwasher filter. Dust your office and wipe down your monitor and keyboard. Check your tire pressure and vehicle fluid levels.

Oh a squirrel, how exciting! Squirrels are assholes who love to tease fenced pets, does yours like to run back and forth on the top of the fence to rile your dogs up?

We just have a four foot chain link fence, the squirrels will sometimes run along the top rail but not often. The deer don’t even seem to notice it, they hardly break step before boinging over the fence and carrying on doing their deer things.

I’m jealous, I’ve never been to such a thing and it sounds like so much fun! Spring is just around the corner now, I’m starting to get excited about playing in the dirt again.

It was Eva Gabor in Green Acres. She was a couple years younger than Zsa Zsa and she died in 1995, so not as long-lived.

First brisket is started. I’m about to get the fire started - all going according to plan so far. And, naturally, I just jinxed that just by mentioning it. Dammit.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/46f with a predicted high of 9c/47f and mostly sunny. Weather app says “You could go outside to fucking see how mild it is, but what’s the fucking point?”

As we were clearing out the office, they would most likely have been digitised and kept that way. The paper copies would have been put into confidential waste as it’s not really necessary to keep them if we have electronic versions.

Sounds perfectly natural to me, you’ve spent a massive chunk of your life working and getting paid for that work on a regular basis. Now you’re adapting to a new kind of life and a new payment schedule, it’s going to take some getting used to.

It certainly explains a lot about why Troublesome Minion behaves the way she does, and says some of the things she does. Her bugbear on Friday was our hybrid working policy because we have to be in the office for 60% of our time. For a normal Mon-Fri work pattern, it’s two days at home and three on campus. She’s grumbling now because she thinks other people aren’t doing that (particularly the two people who work 4 days a week). I don’t want to get into that discussion with her at all, especially not while I’m trying to batter HR into letting my other minion have three days at home and two on campus

Absolutely! Well, for some peole they are  She was on a performance improvement plan and that takes a lot of documentation.

It’s got to be worth it for the entertainment value then

When we’re arriving home together, ‘im indoors gets out of the car to open the gates for me and Keith beeps because the seatbelt’s off and the engine’s still on. Keith is a very safety-conscious car.

doggio happy cake day!

Yesterday was a relatively quiet day work-wise, despite Troublesome Minion mithering about who was or was not fulfilling their obligations to spend 60% of their working week on campus. I got home at the usual time and did the evening chores before putting some laundry on to swish in the machine. Dinner was leftover curry from the freezer. We watched a film and I was in bed around 11pm which worked well for me.

Got up early-ish thing morning and tended to the needs of cats then did an adult thing (paid my car insurance) before scooting off to the hairdresser for a 9.30am appointment. Came home and had a cup of tea, then went to the gym for my second session with Amrit. Back home for a quick lunch then ‘im indoors and I went into town to do our errands.

I parked at the little retail park, went to the bakery to get some fresh wholemeal sourdough, then went to the bookstore, the pharmacy and the bank. We went to the pet store on the retail park for cat litter and then came home via the petrol station as Keith needed a very long drink. Now he’s full up and ready for next weekend’s trip up north.

I have some t-shirts that need ironing so might do that today, or might leave it for tomorrow. I’ve written a load of birthday cards that need to go in the post for collection on Monday, ‘im indoors has taken some Thai curry out of the freezer for dinner this evening, and then we’re off to see a couple of bands at the Giffard. Sunday will be a day of slothage!

A sharp drop in temps this morning, but none of the promised snow as yet. Pumpernickel bagel with avocado mixed with lemon olive oil and chopped tomato. Cheesy scrambled eggs.

Girl Scout cookies come to us today! Courtesy of one of the employee’s daughters. There goes a hundred bucks, but I do like Samoas.

I’ve been called by several fellow dissidents telling me that I need to gear up and head to the capital. I’m easily influenced by social pressure so I’ll be heading out in half an hour. I’m mostly waiting for James to get ready now, I wear my uniform over regular clothing nowadays so I hang it up in the back seat to avoid getting it wrinkled during the drive.

Here’s that lovely vase I’ve been bragging about:

And some of the signs that will be carried today. Thanks @missred , I understand there is quite a crowd already and many of them won’t have their own signs. My “Shame” sign works for all occasions so I’ll be holding that.

Have great days folks and don’t watch the news. (So far, no military targets have been hit by “our” side, but one of “our” bases has been bombed so “we” bombed a girls school while it was in session, killing at least 40 students and our “ally and dear friend” bombed a luxery hotel in Dubai.)

Morning, all. We’ve had a brief family visit. This means we cleaned the guest and open areas of the house, yay. We may expect sun later today, in which case we’ll go for a walk. I want to dehydrate some vegetables and catch up on some organizational and writing tasks this weekend.

I’m guessing monitoring coworkers’ work schedule is not part of her duties… Dare I also guess that she tattled on classmates when she was in primary school??

So glad I put my schedule in Alexa. Along with doing the various meal steps, I decided to hook up the deep sink in the basement (finally!!!) and test it - and re-tighten the drain connection because leaking. Anyway, it’s all good. Basement is nice and warm - around 70 Ferrets. Daughter and her crew are on the way. FCD is in his shop. I’m waiting for the next reminder, Busy, busy,

And I’m avoiding the news for the sake of my blood pressure. Me getting pissed off will accomplish nothing.

They’re heeeeere!!

The squirrels (and there were many, given our green space) at my old apartment knew that Nelson was tethered to a fat old woman and would tease him. Eventually, they declared a truce. Stay safe at the protest!

Dog park today led to Ms Peach’s first bath. She was pretty good, a little scared of the faucet. But, she’s clean and as fluffy as she can be.
