(Old) One last shot of white stuff in the MMP

Afternoon all, did some exercising then refereed a girls U10 soccer game in near perfect weather (bright sun, good footing, almost no sweating). Home now re-hydrating and deciding what to do with the rest of the afternoon…slothage is looking better by the minute.

Taters, I don’t eat out as much as I used to (usually Sunday Dinner and twice on Monday but that’s it). Been cutting back on how much fluid I drink after 7pm and that seems to have an influence on the output, but need to keep fiddling with the amounts to see if it holds true. And I hate to say it, but F1 bores me, just the same cars endlessly going around the track with maybe someone passing over 25 minutes or so.

JtC, I should have known that, but given deer hunters often are not the smartest tools in the shed… And furnace filters will be changed, dishwasher filter depends if I can even find it, and monitor and keyboard are clean. Car keeps my fluids and tires in check (and with only 4,000 miles on it, I shouldn’t have any problems yet.

And lovely vase and nice signs…but you be careful down there.

boo fae, any chance TM will find another job…anywhere?

Cookie, haven’t seen any Girl Scout cookie vendors yet, I usually get a box or two.

VanGo, as long as she wasn’t singing the song of her people, then it was a good bath.

And onward to the afternoon.

As usual, I got bounced around, first loading in the Blue 134 PDC, then sorting on the 200 Table, then finally to the 200 and 100 Slides. Then I got avalanched with packages to clerk(as did the 300 Slide) Most of it was med orders for Monday, I managed to claw through and get 99.99% of the stuff that looked like Saturday delivery stuff out, including the urine. The damages included a box of glassware for a bar(lots of bubble wrap, but only one side with the glassware agaist the box on the other), a box of porcelain floor tiles(non Home Depot, but just as broken), and a bent oven broiler element that was shipped in a frickin’ pizza box< waves at shoe >. I got out at 1:15, and stopped at the ABC store, since Spot guzzled my gin last night. Now a quick pregame nap now that the laundry is in the dryer.

I read that propaganda thermostats. “Big Brother is watching you!”

25 years of letting my thoughts stroll around in public!

We have always been at war with Eastasia(not actually propaganda)

Onan has been known to taunt us. He’s lucky I find him amusing, or he’d find out what happens with you bring a squirrel to a gunfight.

The plant swap was fun and Sis got rid of most of her cuttings while taking home only two. Had I known just how dog friendly it was, I would have leashed up Nelson to take with us. The humane shelter had a booth there and had volunteers walking the dogs around to get them used to being in public. The cats were crated.

If I had the money to build a new house (and enough expected lifespan left to make it worthwhile), I’d definitely consider including a hypocaust.

I just buy the half-length spaghetti – much less hassle.

Lady SCAdian had a friend who bought 26 boxes of Thin Mints every year. He’d put them in the freezer, and then get one tube out every week.

The house is quiet again. I ate waaaaaay too much. On the plus side Trevor and Otis ran around most of the afternoon, so they should both sleep well.

Otis was humping Trevor a few times - guess to show him who’s boss. When Roxy saw it she said Otis was doing surgery on Trevor. Not sure where that came from.

Anyway, they’re gone and I can finally chill.

Howdy Y’all! I did the things and I now have a black nylon cord for the cross. Go Me! I actually have a lot of nylon cord, but goddaughter likes to do crafty stuff so she will be the recipient. I probably should have asked her about makin’ me one. I got up some chili/cheese/onion/slaw dogs from a local place that makes good ones. However, they are stinky and cannot be eaten inside. Thus we luncheoned out on the back porch. Nappage and fartfest then ensued. The cake got baked and the cabbage casserole made up. The poke will slow cook overnight. The casserole will be baked and the poke shredded and sliced in the mornin’. Doin’ my part to ensure good eats at first Sunday brunch!

red not a Mississippi mud cake. It’s a chawklit cake mix with a chawklit and pee-kahn icin’. I make it in a 9x12 pan cause I am far too lazy to make a layer cake.

JtC be careful out there. Kudos to red for the cool signs. I like the vase. I think cobalt blue is tres chic.

VanGo glad Ms Peach survived her first bath.

Cookie yay for Girl Scout cookies. My goddaughter and three of my acolytes are Girl Scouts, so we must buy cookies. A couple of boxes are kept for personal consumption and the rest go to the church for coffee hour consumption. We are not the only ones that do that, so there are lots of GS cookies at coffee hour durin’ cookie season. Nobody complains about that.

MOOOOOOM glad a good time was had by all. How did the stove top vs crock pot corned beast experience turn out. Our St. Patrick’s feast will be on March 14th and I am chef de corned beast, root veggies and cabbage. Folks sign up for whole corned beasts to take home in addition to what is consumed at the feast. The Thursday and Friday before are major prep and cook days.

I really have to stop trying to name actors. I didn’t watch that much TV and really didn’t pay that much attention when I did. There were too many books to read!

I agree with FCM, she was the school tattle-tail. I’ve worked with a few of them, they are so tiresome.

That sounds like a very tasty combination.

I haven’t seen any Girl Scouts at stores, but it has been really cold. Hopefully we will see them soon.

I’ll bet she feels pretty good too. We had a dog once and while she hated the process of getting a bath and nails clipped, she loved the results.

Its going to be on the bottom of the dishwasher, under the rack. It should be a round 3-4 inch disk with a handle to allow you to unscrew it. The garbage disposal takes care of a lot of the bits of food on the plates, the rest of it gets stuck in the filter and can start to smell after a while.

We have a half page list of maintenance stuff we do monthly, its much easier than doing some things monthly and some every other month.

Its getting rather nervous making. Both sides are armed now and only one side really knows what they are doing with their guns. Uneducated hillbillies with rifles might not sound that scary, but they depend on their guns to eat, they gotta know what they are doing.

Dang it Spot! I think he’s been bad influencing Jolene, cause somebody smoked all my ses last night.

He sounds like a very smart man!

I agree, it is a fabulous vase and makes the perfect statement on the entry table.

I’m glad you found some cord, but agree that you should have asked your goddaughter to make one for you. You probably spoil her a lot, she likely would love to be able to do something for you once in a while.

Today four unmarked vans full of masked guys playing soldier showed up. I think they were going to rough us up until they saw the rifles. They kinda huddled up around one of the vans for a while then got back in and left. I fully expect tear gas and LRAD experience tomorrow. I have goggles, ear plugs and have glued two inches of foam to the back of my sign in the hopes of using that as a sound barrier if needed.

swampy - it was hard to tell if one method was better than the other because the two chunks of meat were not the same enough. One was really fatty - ick. But both were equally tender and tasty. I overcooked the veggies on the stove top - I think because it was too far above a simmer. But in terms of labor, stove top was easier.

Ok, I’m falling asleep as I write this. Time for snoozy-land…

Heading to 9pm and I’m tired, so not much longer till I head off to bed. Swampy’s favorite hog trough (Golden Corral) is on the list for tomorrow’s dinner and the desserts (brownie, 3 chocolate chip cookies, and a slice of pecan pie) will put me way over the calorie count, so more gym time tomorrow afternoon. Have done pretty much nothing since getting home except eating and…snacking, so exercise will remain on the agenda. At least it will be a beautiful day, due to reach 75F and no rain in sight until next weekend.

And last condiment (catch-up) of the night…

doggio, I swear some people have no clue how to wrap stuff so it arrives safely. And a late but heartfelt happy doper-versary.

Never but more than two…well, maybe three…boxes of GS cookies, but will be watching for them.

FCM, hopefully a quiet Otis-night.

swampy, glad you have a cross cord. And sounds like Sunday brunch will be delicious.

JtC, hopefully sanity will continue to prevail (but don’t count on it). Have an escape route planned ahead of time and don’t stick around if trouble starts. And I remember cleaning the filter for the dishwasher before (many moons ago), so I’ll look into it tomorrow.

That’s all for now. See all y’all sometime Sunday.

I napped. I watched hockey. i had a Vieux Carré and chicken and asparagus stirfry. Watching Drive To Survive now.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a dense fog advisory in effect until ten a.m. The high will be 74 and mostly sunny the rest of the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have Chalice duty, followed by first Sunday brunch. The poke has been slow cookin’ overnight and thus da cave smells nummerific. After I purtify it will get shredded and sauced and the cabbage casserole will get baked. The rest of the day will be devoted to nappage, day drinkin’ and assorted RDOS inactivities.

JtC I do spoil goddaughter rotten. Even if I had asked her, I would have bought whatever was needed and thrown in a gift card to a bookstore or craft store, whichever she prefers. I can’t help it. One hug from her and I melt. Do be extra careful out there. I see you are takin’ precautions which is a good thing.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization and final food readiness must commence!

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Cleaning and sloth shall commence shortly. It’s currently 41 degrees Ferret Height(5 Centipedes), with light fog. It’s supposed to get to 74 Ferrets today, so I shall open up the windows and air out the joint. Spot is watching his shows in the sunroom.

Shortly after Trevor was gone, so was Otis… to Doggie Dreamland. He woke up when Ziva came out for her evening treats, as which point I escorted him to his crate. That was 11-ish hours ago. He gets a bit more sleep while I surf, then his day begins.

I awoke to 37 Ferrets. Today’s high will be upper 40s, tomorrow upper 30s with possible snow (no accumulation) then 50s on Tues, 60s on Weds, 70 on Thurs. The weather gods are messing with us, aren’t they??

It was a night of very bizarro dreams. There was one where I was wandering thru a manufacturing facility in flip-flops (definitely a no-no) looking for FCD. At the same time, he was out buying me a necklace with a large heart pendant to wear to an event he wouldn’t tell me about. Then the story shifted to North Carolina (not sure how I knew that) and my car was robbed (burgled?) three separate times in a parking lot and the police kept telling me there was nothing they could do. I woke upset and somewhat pissed off. The irritation lingers - I hate when dreams to that to me. Dammit.

As for today I think we’re going to the boat. The covers for the nav boards are ready to be installed, and I think we’re going to fill the water tanks. We need to determine how much ballast we need, and the 1300# of water at the stern is a major determinant. FWIW, we have two 80 gallon water tanks and water weighs about 8.3#/gallon. Anyway, we need to know how the boat sits when fully loaded before adding ballast. We’re hoping 300# of lead will be enough but at the moment, the stern is sitting far too high. Anyway, that’s the plan.

I also need to empty the dishwasher and run a cleaning cycle. I’ve only just started doing that in the hopes of extending its life (which is over 21 years at the moment.) That’s pretty much all of consequence on today’s agenda.

Happy March and Happy Sunday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with a predicted high of 12c/53f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “All of the clouds throw fucking shade, but not as much as your stupid fucking ex.”

Absolutely not, and neither is it mine because she didn’t name them but I know she’s talking about two people who aren’t in my line management so it’s also none of my business. I did have to remind her that one of those people was a recent starter, and one had negotiated a change in working pattern following maternity leave, so both of them would have had their hours and campus rotation included as part of the contract. Of course, she chooses to ignore that because it doesn’t suit her, and she also chooses to ignore the fact that she gets plenty of flexibility to work extra days at home due to her health problems.

I hope she enjoyed it and appreciated being clean!

JtC Lovely vase, it looks so pretty with those flowers too. Be safe on your mission today

I wish! To be honest, when I considered the part-time job, it was also in my mind that I could leave her behind me. Reading through some of her file, a previous manager also moved jobs to get away from her. She’s in her mid-50s and as far as I know, she has a pretty good pension pot so she could retire if she wanted to. Next time the university offers a voluntary leaver’s scheme, I will keep my fingers crossed that she goes for it!

Sounds like a fun day out, next time you’ll know it will be safe to take Nelson with you. He might have made some new friends

Yesterday was fun but busy - hairdresser, gym, errands and then bands in the evening. The headline band were very good, we’ve seen them a few times before but never at the Giffard. They were the penultimate band we saw six years ago before lockdown! Had a chat with them afterwards, and ‘im indoors bought a CD to add to my birthday heap.

We went to the Posada where the barmaid was very apologetic because they didn’t have our usual tipple, so we had something different for a change. She also plied us with caramel buttons which went down very well  We were home by 2am, had a cup of tea and went to bed after giving the cats their treats. Normally the mogs get some ham and some Dreamies at bedtime but if we’ve been out, Blossom and Cherry also get a tube of Lick-e-Lix each. Muffin doesn’t get one as she seems not to like it - I’ve tried several different flavours, and I’ve also tried putting it on a plate or in a small dish in case she didn’t want to eat it straight from the tube like the girlies do. She still turns her nose up at it. One day, I’ll find something that she loves, I’m not giving up yet.

Went to bed late, got up late, and all I’ve done so far today is feed cats, clean litter trays, drink tea and have a soak in the bath. My shoulders are aching a bit from the gym yesterday so I put some muscle therapy stuff in the bath too. I have no other plans for today so I will soon be decamping to the sofa to impersonate a sloth.

Maybe the raw liver of her enemies?? < snerk > Cats and treats can be a mystery. Luckily, Ziva likes the ones I get at Aldi. She gets a little pile in the morning and a similar serving at night - maybe 8 of the bits. It’s a good indicator of her health. If she starts turning her nose up at them, it may be time to fret.

Otis has had his breakfast, as has FCD. The dishes from last night have been stowed and I’ve got the dishwasher cleaning itself. Shortly, I’ll hit the shower and dress for a few hours outside - it’s crept to 42 Ferrets, so there’s that. Frankly, I’d rather spend the day in my recliner, but I won’t leave FCD to do the boat stuff alone. And it shouldn’t take too long. Theoretically.

They make a killing here at The Home.

I gotta ask…is anyone here even a little surprised to learn this? LOL, of course you do, that’s just who you are.

It was warm enough yesterday to give the fuzzbutts some outside sniffers. They always like that. It will be cooler and rainy today so windows won’t be opened, but Hubs (who doesn’t like me feeding the birds, it is too messy and costs too much) went to Lowe’s and bought a big bag of thistle and a finch sock so they will have more little yellow birds to watch. (The goldfinches are back, they are great for birdwatching, so active and busy.)

Last week the weather was calling for snow this week, but this weeks weather forecasts now say rain all week. Weather forecasting was a whole lot of guess work before the climate started changing so fast, now doggio’s cartoon is much more accurate (even though there doesn’t seem to be booze involved).

Where do you get your lead and is it really lead? We haven’t been able to get it for bullet making for a long time, they even stopped using lead for tire weights about twenty years ago. I’d like to get my hands on a good sized bar for a craft idea, so if they sell smaller weights, please give me their contact info.

Big sighs. So very tiresome.

Thank you! It seems as though Jolene doesn’t agree with our opinion about the flowers, I found half of them on the floor this morning.

Get a little jar of stage 1 chicken baby food and try that. Stage one is what they give kids before they can have spices, it is just really ground up chicken and a little water. Tastes like nothing to me, but when ours were in their final days, they all seemed to enjoy it.

Oh no doubt! Even some diabetics can’t resist those cute lil bandits and will fork over cash for smiles, then give the cookies away.

My back and hip were screaming all night and woke me up way too early. I took some ibuprofen with my morning pills and am using a heat pad now. I’m still debating taking my rollator. It would allow me to sit down when I get to hurting too much, but it would get in the way if we all had to move suddenly. I won’t be bringing James, he refuses to stay in the car and I’m not going to be able to outrun tear gas while pushing him and his wheelchair. Hes not that heavy, WV just is not wheelchair friendly.

George and I are watching the birds and the rain, its a nice quite moment to savor.

Remember our excursion across the bay to the boat stuff place? That guy has bunches of lead ingots that were ballast in assorted boats. That’s where we plan to go. He says the ingots are 30# each, so with luck, we’ll only need 10 or 12 - even number required to keep the vessel balanced. I don’t know if they have smaller bits (like used for fishing weights) but I can ask. In fact, can you get fishing weights? I know they’ve been banned in some states.

Or this site?

OK, I’m showered and dressed, and as soon as FCD is clean and properly attired, we’ll be heading out. Fingers crossed that this will be a quick and easy task.

Yanno…all of my past failures at procuring lead were in AZ. I didn’t even thing about state vs federal environmental rules.

Off to do some research, thank you!

Good morning.

It’s 33F, cloudy, and there is some patchy fog. The fog will disappear later this morning, and the afternoon is supposed be partly cloudy with a daytime high of 56F. The weather seems calm, so March is arriving like a lamb, suggesting the end will be rough.

Metal Mouse, the F1 series isn’t just races. You get bits of some of the races, but the series really concentrates on the inner workings of the major F1 teams. You learn about the drivers and other team members, and much of the stuff going on in the background. I couldn’t watch a full race either, and frankly, F1 is very much a rich man’s sport, with US races among the most expensive to attend. I was surprised I that I enjoy this series so much, but I do.

JtC, I know others have said it, and I have said it before, but please be careful. Your vase is very pretty.

Swampy, I’m glad you found a cord that works for you.

Red, I’m glad you enjoyed the plant swap. I’m getting itchy about hitting the plant nurseries. They’re not quite open yet, but I’m excited to see new varieties and old favorites.

Plans for today are sort of up in the air; we may ride our bikes, or conversely, Mr. Taters was talking about grabbing lunch at Five Guys. We haven’t eaten there in quite a few years.

It’s time for more coffee, and then I’ll run the dishwasher. You all take care.
