(Old) One last shot of white stuff in the MMP

And a good Sunday morning all. Up about 7am and have procured the Sunday NY TImes for my reading and puzzling pleasure (albeit the headlines are not pleasurable). Top of the month financial checks are done and the morning banana has been assimilated. It’s 55F heading to 74F later and no rain to be seen, so a fine day is shaping up to start March. Nothing much planned except the Dinner pigout at Golden Corral and the exercise penance later. We’ll see what develops.

swampy, enjoy brunching.

Well it is March, so beware the Ides… And your memory for dreams (even weird ones) is something I envy, I seldom remember dreaming and it usually fades before I can write it down. Happy Ballasting, just get the lead out…

boo fae, hang in there. Just keep enjoying all the time you are not with her…and oooh, those buttons look good. As for the tubes, I’ve mentioned watching the You Tube channel “Girl With the Dogs” about a pet groomer and she has cats she tries to give Tubes to, some go right for it, others ignore it totally, so Muffin is not to unusual in that regard. Happy Slothing!

JtC, take care.

Taters, thanks for the review, I might take a gander at the series. And Five Guys is a great place, as long as you don’t mind the calories too much…(hint: order the small fries, that will be plenty, regular fries are for two people or one big appetite, and large… :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

And need to do the rest of the Sunday morning internettin’ and then get about organizing things for the rest of the day. Have a good one all.

Back in the day, I worked with a group of middle aged ladies who would use going to the boat to describe their weekend plans for going to Metropolis to gamble.

An industrial supply place that sells to places that solder stuff maybe?

I tend to buy from troops who have a donation box available. They usually send those to military service members who are deployed, after school care programs or daycare centers. I don’t trust myself to have them in the house, but as a former girl scout and scout leader, I still want to support them.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. More disturbing news from Austin when I got up. I’m beginning to rethink watching / reading the news first thing in the morning.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Cleaning progresses. Onan was at the(knocked over and spilled) feeder earlier. I flipped him off.

So she’s not like my dogs who always acted like I was pouring lava and boiling acid on them?

“Salami?” - Spot

I thought they went around barefoot.

Afternoon.

I am sulking about not being able to hit all the plant shops nearby- ours don’t close over winter, but they get a load of new stuff out for spring- but I’m still basically reclining and coughing on the sofa. I have a loooong list of gardening jobs I was going to get done before spring and what with the wet and now this, I’m not going to get them done. I tried to get out to do some light weeding, but it’s just not happening right now.

Still, spring approacheth, it ain’t waiting for me. I’ve got dwarf iris, snowdrops, crocus, primrose in flower and a bunch of other flowers which will probably come out in a week or so if the weather stays mild and the sun deigns to make an appearance. Winters are so dismal here that I can’t resist buying a good spring flower.

I understood everything up until that last bit.

Nice and sunny today, if a bit cool, but we’re headed for the 40s again this coming week.

Savory oatmeal with a fried egg and bacon this morning. We were going to do laundry today, but that fell by the wayside. I think I’ll go hit the NuStep a bit later after breakfast settles.

I read this and it didn’t really register. And then I remembered that some years ago when we were still in Oregon, my ex-wife contacted me out of the blue, asking for a copy of the divorce decree, as she couldn’t find her copy (big surprise). My radar lit up, as I couldn’t figure out why she would suddenly need that, and I waited for the axe to fall for some time after that, but there was nothing. Eventually, it faded into shoulder-shrug territory. But your post suddenly turned on a light in my mind. She never remarried, so I’m convinced that someone clued her into this particular (and unknown to me) bit of SSA information. I don’t begrudge her being able to live comfortably, but she does love to play these little games of getting over on me.

God blessed me yesterday. Church guy brought over a lot of food, also cat treats!, then a church brought me t.p. which I had requested. I was expecting a 4 roll but its 32! Will last me a whole month.

We were surprised to find that the frost-free faucet wasn’t turned on. Dammit. So we couldn’t fill the water tanks. FCD is going to ask at the office tomorrow about the schedule for getting water back to the docks. Obviously they turn it off during the winter months - can’t have the lines freezing and cracking. I did get the covers on the nav boards - they fit great, so the boards are protected from UV.

We also discussed the removal of the stove from the galley, replacing it with a toaster oven/air fryer/rotisserie/other stuff unit along with a 2-burner hot plate sorta thing. If the planets align, there will be enough space for a drawer also. Fingers crossed! Then we offloaded some more stuff - there’s still stuff aboard that needs to come home… eventually.

I ran the rollsuck both in the house and in FCD’s car - OMG, it was a mess! I got all but the very back cleaned up - there’s too much stuff back there for me to bother with. I need to swap out the car seat Tobias has been using - he’s pretty much outgrown it, and he’s now big enough to use Roxy’s old booster seat. She doesn’t need a seat any longer as she’s reached the height and weight where just a seatbelt is legal.

So once I swap out the seats, I think I’ve earned some sit-down time.

Taters, my wife’s alma mater, named for a glass jar magnate, drilled thousands of holes around the campus for geothermal heating and cooling. How do you get cooling from geothermal heat? Magic, of course!

I’m working hard to have a positive attitude about the Rock Steady workouts. My xlarge boxing gloves came yesterday, and they seem to fit my long hands.

We must be due for a handyman visit. Mrs. Nott has brought the stepladder into the kitchen. Neither of us is qualified to use a ladder. She’s skeered of heights, and I’m too wobbly.

The radio is advertising *An Evening with Toto. Isn’t that old dog dead yet? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Back from church. My new black leather Merrill shoes came. The toes are boxier than the old Eccos (which I’ve thrown into the trash). I went with size 13, so they’re very comfortable. (The Eccos were 12s.)

Making Old Bay salmon cakes and fresh green beans for dinner tonight. I don’t know what The Missus was thinking, but she filled the produce bag with a lot of green beans (that I’ll have to trim). I don’t see how we can eat them all.

With bacon and onions?

Hey guys, I’m back. I spent all afternoon getting very mad that folks are hoping that I will be safe when I am going to the capital to exercise my rights to free speech and assembly. I have so many bad things to say about that.

I’m also rather outraged at how poorly ice is trained. When they unloaded out of their vans, they were totally focused on us. They didn’t check their surroundings, didn’t pay attention to corners or what was behind them. They do have good ears though, a couple of miners with hunting rifles came out behind them and chambered rounds, barrels pointed at the ground and they woke right up. One of the guys with us just quietly said “not today, boys” and they got back in their vans and left.I highly suspect they aren’t going to get as violent with us as they are folks in blue states, it wouldn’t look good. Plus WV has 5 electoral votes and a history of changing sides when we get mad enough.

In other news, Hubs has said he’s willing to eat Lentils. Back 25 years or so ago, I made a Lentil stew for dinner and he said it looked like mud and refused to eat it. I haven’t cooked them since, so now I have recipes to research. If any of you have a favorite, please share it.

I will think positive thoughts with you. I do hope it helps.

I like having lots of toe room. Back in my high heel days, I tried to always wear squared toes instead of pointy ones. I was standing on my toes, I wanted them as comfortable as possible.

They make some really cool units nowadays, be sure to show us what you pick. I want that coffee maker that also makes fried eggs, toast and sausage as well. The one I saw had a timer so you could get up, do your bathroom thing and come out to breakfast and coffee ready and waiting.

It would have been so much easier to just say so. But anyhow, as you have learned, it doesn’t matter to your benefits if she collects or not, so I guess it doesn’t really matter.

Oh, you didn’t want to go today. It would have been crowded and bothersome. Its much better to be a couch potato for a few days and let the crowds thin out.

Our gardening shops don’t put out new plants for another month so I’m sad too.

This is a good idea. I can’t keep them around the house either. It looks like I can’t keep chocolate chips around the house either, some big rat opened a full bag and now there’s about a cup left. Grrrr. I don’t really care that he’s eating them, they are easy to replace, I’m grumbly because I wouldn’t have known they were gone when I thought I’d make him more brownies.

Evening all. Gorged myself at Golden Corral then got my Turbotax 2026 from the Staples across the street from the Restaurant, and spent most of the afternoon burning calories at the gym. Home now and not planning on moving much for the next 4 hours or so. It’s 64F and only getting down to 53F later, so the heavyweight comforter may get retired earlier than usual this year. Looks like a dry week and we night see 80F sometime Wednesday, so spring may be here to stay. Need to load Turbotax in my computer and probably get started tomorrow on it.

Nut, just take care of yourself first, there will be sufficient plants for your needs once you are well.

Cookie, there are times I regret never marrying…and then there are times I think it was the wisest thing I ever did. Life is funny like that…

Coppertone, Score!!

FCM, need to take my car in for it’s first carwash and I’ll use their vacuum to clean the inside. Happy Sit-down time!

Knots, hope the exercising works better for you this round…

Flyboy, glad the new shoes are doing well. I refereed soccer yesterday with a pair of Athletic shoes (not soccer cleats) with just one problem…they were both for my right foot (didn’t put them on until I was at the field. Did OK with them but made sure I got the pairs set up correctly when I got home…

JtC, hope you are not mad at us, because we all care about you and hope you are safe, but we also know you’re smart and take precautions–and are a pretty tough old biddy…

And need to resist taking on any more calories in the next 3-4 hours…going to be tough. Take care all.

Oh no, I said that badly. I am not mad at you, I am mad that trump has made it so people have to worry about that sort of thing.

I love you guys and don’t really mean to worry you.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and enjoyed a very plentiful brunch. I had hoped to have some ‘cue to bring back for sup tomorrow, but it got all et up. I am not complainin’ cause it feels good to know folks enjoyed it. I especially like church durin’ Lent. Startin’ the service in solemn procession and sayin’ the Penitential Order at the start has always been a favorite of mine. It brings out my inner church nerd. The afternoon was devoted to sloth in the form of nappage, day drinkin’ and watchin’ some episodes of the remake of Night Court on Netflix. Popcorn was consumed as neither of us desired any big sustenance. Oh, and most important of all, the biiiiig trash can got hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow.

JtC goddaughter’s ‘rents did ask me to back off a little a few years ago. They were right to do so. She really does not need one of everything on Earth and I was kinda headed in that direction. Sounds like hubs realizes the importance of cat teevee.

red glad sis and you enjoyed the plant swap. Good to know it can also be a future Nelson adventure. I went to Metropolis, IL once. I was on an irk trip to Paducah, KY (I did some exotic irk travel back in the day) and just had to go see the statue of Superman. I also toured the quilt museum in Paducah cause I am all wild and carefree like that.

BooFae the caramel buttons look so nummy. I hope you enjoyed your day of sloth impersonation.

Coppertone so glad you got the food and tp.

Knotty Toto retired to Africa and now enjoys the rains.

Kinda thought that. We love you too.

Gave the cats some temptations treats.

I broiled salmon for supper, with corn, broccoli, and cuke salad for the sides (no, the corn and broccoli weren’t in the cuke salad. Sheesh!)

I’ve been watching a series on Prime about Michael Palin’s travels - really interesting seeing places he visited and people he met. It’s especially interesting thinking about how things have changed since he made these trips - he was in the Sahara on the infamous 9/11 and in Pakistan near the Afghanistan border a few years later. He’s also a very well educated, well-read man, for all that he was a Python.

I’ve been looking over videos of Tai Chi Walking - something my doc recommended. Guess I should give it a try so she won’t yell at me when I see her next. It’s supposed to be good for balance, too, which is occasionally an issue for me.

And so the evening winds down for me. Very cold, icky day tomorrow with spring-like days by the end of the week - that’s what I’m waiting for.

Till then, see ya in the next MMP!

Mrs. L.A. ate two salmon cakes (an entire can of salmon), so I had to have a second one too.

I cleaned, dusted, and vacuumed. I took out the trash and recycling. I filled the vermin feeder, which made Onan happy:

I also rearranged the living room furniture, so Roomie can move around post surgery. Spot is not happy about the changes. Dinner was a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, poke loin with Pig salt, sweet N.O.T., and asparagus with salt, pepper, and garlic.

But they are dogged by canines.

That’s a fun museum. My niece and I went there a couple of times when she was in Morganfield for Job Corps.

Have you gotten a bunch of commercials when you stream TV or ads online for Tai Chi lately? They’re all over my media.
