(Old) Pole Dancer and Dasher and Comet and Cupid! - A MMP For The Rest Of Us

Could be worse. At least it isn’t snowing! (And I don’t think we’ll be hit as hard this round as down south.)

Not a busy day, except they sent 90% of the people home. I was there for a bit longer, as I’m still having problems getting into the damage system(this is turning into a Labor of Hercules level event).
But it’s Boxing Day, the day Canadians punch each other and say “sorry.”. It’s also the Feast of St. Stephen, whose martyrdom is a cautionary tale about what happens when the Refreshment Committee buys the wrong doughnuts.

I think I saw them at The Pour House. \m/–\m/

Sorry it was a bummer of an Xmas. If you were closer I would have invited you over for a beer and have Spot sullenly hide from you.

{{{{Coppertone}}}}. Hope the doc can figure it out.

< crosses fingers >

She said its not covid or flu. No figuring it out will happen. Has to run its course. Fatigue and no appetite.
Others have been sick, its going around.

Yeah, I always tried to encourage my kids to see life with humor, whenever possible. They are all goofy in a good way, and smart to boot.

Picked up the shellfish for tomorrow’s paella. Some nice clams and mussels, a bag of frozen shrimp. Now if I can just remember how to make it. . .

Gave away a bunch of the sweets that my eldest gave us. The building staff will make short work of them. I’ve got to have a talk with him about this. I already eat more sugary things than I should.

We use a spray starch called “Best Press” on our quilt blocks. I have one dress shirt and after each event I take it to the dry cleaners and have it washed and pressed with light starch. I get it back in pristine condition on a hanger in plastic. I put it in the hanger bag with my suit so it is ready for the next wedding or funeral.

I didn’t know it existed either. Done in 2022 with some of the original cast. I liked it. It leads into the 1983 movie very well. Many call backs.

The ick is getting less icky. I decided to go for a sick day tomorrow. A few more days of rest.

Currently at the urgent care waiting for an X-ray of my ankle. And possibly simultaneously up to no good…

Correction: I got the T-shirt into the light, and it’s actually olive green. This page has the correct cat on it too.

Very nice!

I’m wearing it now. :smiley_cat:

Me three. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day~never even got out of my pajamas and robe, the kitteh who must be obeyed doesn’t require adult clothes.

We three shoulda arranged a Zoom :christmas_tree:, with lots of day drinking.

Got the kids to their house. They enjoyed the dolls, but mostly the trains. As soon as Daughter gets here, I’m gone! Must get groceries!

In the interest of full disclosure, lots of day drinking for me equals two drinks in the same day.

I’m home. I have tendinitis on the outside of my foot/ankle now to match the tendinitis on the inside of my foot. They want me to go to… physical therapy!

I moved the wood stack cover. Again. To recap:

  • Mrs. L.A. bought me a custom 8x5x2 cover for the wood stack.
  • I built a PVC frame for it, to keep its shape as the stack was depleted.
  • I built a ‘lid’ for it out of OSB, a couple of 2x2s to centre it along the top poles, and a 2x4 ‘ridge’. When the cover is put on, this prevents water from pooling on top.
  • I strengthened the back and sides with com leftover OSB. (The back is full-width.)

We burned all of the wood that was in it last Winter. I put a scrap piece of OSB in it (not big enough) and put a couple of cinder blocks on it. This was not enough to keep it from being knocked over by the wind storm. What a pain. It fell over with the zipper down, and the ‘lid’ is freakin’ heavy. It was a chore to get the cover off of the frame.

I rotated it 90º and put it next to the wall/window of the back bedroom. After a couple/few weeks, SWMBO told me it needed to be moved away from the wall so the wall doesn’t collect moisture. So I pulled it out about six feet. Why six feet? Because…

We had another wind storm that knocked it over. It missed the house. And there it lay. Only now, the OSB back board was being soaked. (And the top side was next to the wall again. So…

I’ve just moved it again. This time it’s on the ground, with its back ‘against’ the deck. I put a brick at each front corner to angle it back a little. I put a brick in the middle at each corner to support one end of a 1) concrete pier; and 2) a large cinder block. The other ends rest on the bottom-rear PCV pipe. In the middle, I put down that scrap piece of OSC, supporting it with three bricks between the inner two pipes and the rear on the rear pipe. I put the 6-inch-wide cinder block on to of it. The heavy lid was much easier to put on from the deck than it was to lift it all the way. The cover is back on.

Fingers are crossed it doesn’t blow over again, since the zipper will be on the bottom…

Howdy Y’all! High RDOS inactivities have indeed been the rule of the day. Nappage, noshin’, day drinkin’ and watchin’ inane movies has been the agenda. We finished off the leftovers for sup. As a reward for all our accomplishments, we shall indulge in Netflix, chill and popcorn. OYKW won the most active award for walkin’ to the mailbox and back. The dishwasher never got emptied. I felt too frail and delicate to accomplish that.

You’ll recall my tale of Tobias singing We Will Rock You on the terlit the other day. Well, this was today: Tobias told me he had to poop. He insisted I stay with him, and we discussed farts, poop-farts, and his big poops. That is, he discussed and I agreed. He is a fascinating conversationalist.

I’m back home after a disappointing stop at Aldi. The produce shelves were picked over, among other things, but I got a few things so it wasn’t a total loss. I’ll go to Food Lion tomorrow and get what I need. But now, having ingested some bean soup, I shall assume the recline position and read.

Wow. I took my first dose of the antibiotic at noon ( for my uti) and now my gunky feeling, fatigue, and no appetite ( from whatever I had)is gone!

Maybe next year? Would be nice to put some faces to names.

The moon must still be in the House of Loon. While waiting for the bus post-shot, this guy asked if he could use my phone. I said sure. Turns out he just got out of the state pen that morning. He was given $300 cash, but the first thing he’d done was go get drunk. He was texting some woman in Tacoma. She seemed less than thrilled that he was already trashed. He thought photos would convince her, and I had time to kill, so I took front and back views of his standard issue white track suit. They didn’t do the trick, either, even after he swore she was his “heart woman.” When I left, he was wandering around trying to find a phone store. He did thank me for helping him out. I wonder whether he made it to Tacoma.

I am exhausted. I plan to go to bed right after dinner.

I’d prefer sullen Spot a million times over Tony Blare next door. And I need to use up various bottles of hootch on my bar cart, so I’d bring gifts. You could invent a cocktail and name it after Spot.

Humor is a wonderful quality to instill in kids. And goofy plus smart is a winning combination. I bet they’ve had a lot of friends.

I’m impressed, both with your planning AND the fact you the suit still fits. When I was teaching, on Sunday evenings, I’d pick out my outfits for the week, including pantyhose and jewelry, which went into a bag I attached to each hanger. At 4:50 a.m., I didn’t trust myself to make any decisions.

Oopsie, those are some wild happenings in your 'hood. You stay safe, now.
