What a relief. I never felt so sick before.
I still have a cough, but I don’t want to go through that again.
Not a damn thing on the agenda.
Oh, yeah, I got hired.
It was a phone interview, she didn’t even meet me.
There is a background check and I had to disclose something from 34 yrs ago.
Its a convenient type store.
A beacon of hope.
That’s great news, Coppertone!
The poodle and I are sitting here in a leisurely fashion this morning. I was hoping when I got up that my ankle might cooperate. It’s a little better so that’s good. We haven’t had breakfast yet, but that’s coming soon. I’ve also been looking through old pictures to collect some ideas of what kind of tattoo I’d like in remembrance of my dad. I already contacted the tattoo artist with an idea, but now I’m not sure. The picture that I sent her is of the tiki god urn that I made. But, I’ve been thinking if I really want an urn on my arm (even if I’m the only one that can tell that it’s an urn)? I haven’t decided yet. All of the other ideas are very abstract so far.
Anyways, today’s agenda includes cleaning up the disastrous mess in the kitchen and napping! Oh, and I looked up the keyboard and it didn’t cost nearly as much as he said it did. May that was when it was new and the price has gone down. I’m not sure, but less is definitely better if we did have to buy a new one!
I’m up early for me. I have three items on my agenda today. I’ll be getting my hair cut, going to the grocery store, making ham and bean soup, and making a loaf of bread. In between there’s walking the dog, taking the trash out, and crocheting.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and cloudy/foggy with a predicted high of 64 and cloudy. Rain will be here tomorrow and Sunday allegedly. This mornin’ both of us will head to the church house so I can deal with candle duty and then be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS inactivities.
Now I need more caffeine and then I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. I suppose it’s worth it to eat nummy stuff.
Happy Firday Y’all!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/42f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app has nothing to say except “Fucking cloudy as fuck.” It is cloudy, also foggy again today.
I wouldn’t put it past a certain mumper to use it as a hat A turkey crown is the bird with the legs removed so essentially it’s a turkey breast roast.
I have no idea, but I see you found the answer - I call it “that nasty stuff I don’t like on my salad”.
Ouch! Been there, got that, but only on one ankle. Still causes far too much bother though. I hope they can find you some decent therapy for it.
He’s already getting his TMI ready for when he’s old enough to become a mumper!

Yesterday was a good day for slothage, I accomplished very little apart from sofa time and snuggles with Shadow. Today I also have very little to do - my only planned activity is to empty the pull-out pantry cupboard in the kitchen and reorganise the shelves. I’m sure there’s stuff in there that’s way out of date so I need to get that sorted out.
It’s my turn to make dinner tonight, we still have leftover turkey so I will throw that in a pan with some onion, mushrooms and leeks, and make a creamy sauce for it too. It’ll go well with pasta so that will deal with the main meal of the day. Lunch will be foraged stuff from the fridge as we also have leftover lamb and sliced beef in there. I have salad veggies so I can put something together that’s reasonably healthy. Back to the gym tomorrow too, I’m looking forward to that.
Get well soon, sickies!
Good morning everyone.
It’s 43F and raining. Our expected high temperature is 48F, and various types of rain will occur all day. We had a few good wind gusts yesterday, and the whole day was wet.
JtC,
Other than cleaning the kitchen twice yesterday, I didn’t do anything other than hang out with the pups and my son. I took care of some work emails and extended my leave by a day.
My son stayed overnight again, and we feasted on leftovers for dinner. I’m not sure if my son will go home today or stay overnight again.
I am waiting for my new debit card to arrive because it was compromised last week. Fortunately, my bank caught it instantly. Unfortunately, I have to wait for a new card. It was shipped on Tuesday. It’s pretty annoying because that’s the card on which all my bills are, so I have to wait for the new card and set everything up again. My internet bill is actually due now, but it’s just going to have to wait a few days.
Coppertone, I’m glad you’re feeling better. Yay for a job offer.
Nellie, I would have had you up here for a Christmas had I known you would be on your own. I mean, assuming you would have accepted the invitation.
Well, I should get my hiney in gear and finish my coffee. I want to knock out a couple of chores this morning. Hugs to everyone.
Fcm, I believe the next wife was with in 4 months, and quickly divorced. That marriage lead to the decapitation of Thomas Cromwell.
Baker, Jan.7th; 11 more shopping days! Tres Reyes Magos is Jan. 6th. I find the tradition of moving the camels closer day by day delightful. Not to mention the caganer.
I have moved into the coughing part of the cold. Le sigh. I am glad I got the Christmas head cold and not the Christmas gut thing some co workers got. One poor kid ended up in er for fluids.
I’m glad you are feeling better coppertone.
BTDT three-freekin’ times! Annoying is the mildest possible term for said fiasco. FCD wanted to put the inheritance money in his account so he could use his debit card for boat stuff and I convinced him it was a terrible idea. Instead, he’ll continue to use VISA (for the cash back) and I’ll pay out of the account that has no debit or credit card, so I think it’s pretty safe from compromise.
Coppertone - congrats on the job - I hope it works out. I can’t imagine what it was like for you going to interview after interview.
Good - I’ve been waiting for him to be offed - what a jerk! At least the actor portraying him has jerkishness cranked up to 11! I should know all the details from all the documentaries I’ve watched about Henry’s adventures, but that’s a lot of wives to keep track of!
Very productive morning and it’s not even 10 as I write this. I took care of the accumulated dishes and even cleaned the microwave! I sorted try the stuff on the breakfast bar, tossed some, dealt with the gifts we’d dumped there, and did some recycling. After shower and appropriate attire, I ran by the credit union to deposit the check my mom gave us (it will cover most of our getaway in January), then walked the aisles in Food Lion to the tune of $68 - lots of fruits and veggies - yay! - and finished with a stop at Dash In for gas at $2.99.
Back home with the groceries put away and I’ve started the laundry. First load is washing, and I’m not sure if there will be 2 or 3 more - it’s hard to tell until I start loading the washer. I want to sort out the linen/meds closet in the hall - there’s stuff in there that was for MIL and it needs to go. Plus I have no idea how much body wash and shampoo I have, but there needs to be one of each so I don’t run out. Same for toothpaste. So that’s my next chore.
So off to the hallway!
You always post about your laundry FCM. What detergent do you use?
Whatever no-dye-no-perfume brand is on sale - I think currently it’s Purex. A also have Arm & Hammer when I need more. I have no brand loyalty, but I hate Tide since forever.
Wednesday was nice and peaceful and uneventful. Pulled a ham steak out of the freezer for supper, along with a pot of mash. Yesterday I was up early so I could be at the commissary when they opened (0730) and take advantage of the post-Xmas markdowns. Lebkuchen (including a biiiig box of it for Lady SCAdian’s sister and her husband), chocolate and marzipan, oh my! This is the first time in years that I haven’t gotten a fruitcake and/or a stollen; maybe they’ll still have some on the shelves Tuesday morning. But we’ve all pretty much agreed that gifts this time round will be consumables, as none of us really need more stuff to fill the houses.
This afternoon we’re taking the train to Philly. (Well, actually it’s going to take us, but such is English.) Lady SCAdian will have her earbuds in and headphones over those – hopefully that will work well enough.` We could just stay home, but she’s worried that this may be the last time she sees her father while he can still recognise her and remember who she is.
Your mention of stollen reminds me I haven’t made it in quite a while. I have a fantastic recipe from a German woman, my former boss’s mother. When I started making it I had to cut the recipe way down as it makes several huge stollen.
She said, ever so casually …
Great news! Hope this one works out.
Now, I’m not great at math, but I can count to three, and, uh …
Yay!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, towels / sheets in the dryer, jeans in the wash and fixing to do KP / houseirk. IOW, the usual Firday.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Today we have niece and husband over for paella. Gotta review the recipe.
Tomorrow, another of the wife’s nieces flies in on NYE for an overnighter. The wife always thinks we have to take her out to dinner somewhere, so I guess that’s on the agenda.
New Year’s Day we’re hosting an open house for my relatives. The holidays are exhausting.
Winter weather in MSP this year is stupid. It’s 40F and what little snow we’ve had is nearly gone. Without the budding of plants as in spring, it’s just depressingly gray and ugly.
Humbug!
Duh. But it has turned out three, as at 8:15 I had a call from my hairdresser, She’s feeling very sick, so didn’t want to pass it on.
I’ll bet the most expensive part of the paella is the saffron.
First load in the dryer, second in the washer, and I just finished cleaning the pellet stove. FCD was asking me questions about drafting - I haven’t done any in 5 years and I’d forgotten some pretty basic stuff. But I found NASA’s manual on line and as I paged thru it, things started coming back. Scary how fast you can forget things when you don’t use them - 30 years of engineering and drafting tucked into an inaccessible corner of my brain.
Once I swap out the current loads of laundry, I’m thinking lunch will be in order.
I took out a loan some years ago and bought a full ounce of the stuff. It keeps its potency for a very long time and is likely cheaper than the five threads that one gets at a supermarket.
Lady SCAdian and I made saffron bread for an SCA event twenty-odd years ago. Don’t think the saffron really added anything to the flavour, but the bread looked pretty with all the threads scattered through it.
