Ok, I’m male - 38
I wear Old Spice as my daily aftershave/cologne, as well as the Old Spice white stick in Original Scent. Women LOVE me (I’m not kidding - it’s uncanny - and I’m not bragging - I get compliments on my scent several times a week. I even had one woman at work confide that she comes by my cube just to get a whiff).
My second choice, for a night out, is Avon’s Wild Country - Outback. Yes, it’s not very expensive, but from what I’ve been told, it just smells “manly.” I get many good results from that one, too.
My third choice, if I’m looking for something a little more “light” and yet, “sophisticated,” is Mountain Frost spritz by Bath and Body Works. Again, very good responses.
(For what it’s worth - I haven’t been to a club in the last year where I didn’t end up getting laid by an attractive woman - which has been maybe 8 - 9 times - so something must be working, and I’m no Adonis - I am 6’ tall and 250 lbs…)
Speaking of spice, here’s a natural way to smell pleasant and Turn Women’s Heads. Grow a couple of thyme plants, and cut a fresh sprig every morning. Slip it in your shirt pocket, or drop it down the front of your t-shirt. Gals will ask you what you’re wearing, and you can show them. If you have an extra sprig or two, you can give one to an especially cute one. Every busy woman can use a little spare thyme. Word will get around, and ladies will come to you for a good thyme.
So if you’ve got the money, honey, I’ve got the thyme?
I used to wear it when I was in college. Why? I liked that solid looking ceramic bottle, and I think I remember Dad wearing it. Yes, I am old-fashioned.
Demographic: Upper middle class.
Thyyyyyyyme is on my side, yes it is…
I like it well enough that it is one of several my husband alternates wearing.
I like it even more so, in that I use it to make potpourri for my house.
A sick woman, yes.
Another woman here who loves the smell of Old Spice. I’m forty, higher educated/income, and I can’t remember any older familymembers wearing it. It was just a cologne I discovered on my own, immediately wanted my SO to wear it, but he refused with the “Old guys wear it”-argument.
And AXE is just plain nasty.
I used to like it a lot. My dad used to wear the after shave all the time, and he still uses the deodorant. However, there is a guy on my route who must douse his apartment in the stuff. The whole hallway of that floor of the building reeks of Old Spice, strong enough to knock me back a step when I open the door if I haven’t braced myself for it. It’s got an old, cloying, rotted smell to it too - as if he was dumping bottles of Old Spice on a decomposing body to try to mask the stench. It’s unpleasant enough that it’s pretty much ruined the smell of Old Spice for me. Which is a shame, because it’s one of the few colognes that I’m not allergic to.
I love Old Spice, but I haven’t smelled it in years. My dad used to wear it all the time. I associate that particular smell with hugs from Dad and unshaven cheeks, for some weird reason.
I don’t know how I’d feel if I dated a guy who smelled like Old Spice. I think it might creep me out a bit.
It’s not a whoosh, dagnabbit!
If you would do me a favor, ask someone why they stopped distributing it in Thailand. You can actually find Old Spice soap in one or two stores, but the aftershave and cologne disappeard years ago. Even back then, it was hard to find. We even called the local distributor of the soap, based on the telephone number of the wrapper, and they simply said they don’t import it now without giving a reason.
One of the things that I kept after my father died was that white ceramic bottle of Old Spice. I think maybe it contains powder. There’s just enough scent to it to remind me of the kindest man I ever knew.
But even without those pleasant associations, I’m sure I would like it.
I’m 64 and fit the projected stereotype.
Siam Sam and Zoe, it’s easy to buy, from anywhere on this planet, any Old Spice product. Simply set Yahoo or Google on the scent , and you can buy some in a flash. It’s ironic that our ancestors used to sail to the mysterious East to get spices, but now you can’t buy Old Spice in Thailand. :smack: It was made by Shelton, but apparently they were bought by Proctor & Gamble of Cincinnati.
Actually, I’ve tried that, but I don’t care to pay US$50 to $100 for a bottle. That was a few years ago, though, so maybe they’ve streamlined the delivery process some.
Funny, I almost never wear cologne. But I use this deodorant every day, and woman are always commenting that I “smell good”. I used to tell them it was just deodorant. Now I just say thanks
I’m not really a “cologne guy”… however I have a small but select battalion of scents at my disposal should the need arise.
Old Spice is one in my arsenal.
It’s a classic. I used to use it for dates because the women really seem to take to the Old Spice.
Now that I’m married I mostly use it for dates with the wife. I have a can of Old Spice body spray in the car too for when I get to smelling a little funky while on the move.
Sam, the WWW is full of bargans. Google for the damn stuff.
When I first saw the thread title I thought perhaps Cher had joined the Spice Girls.
It’s a decent enough cologne. I’ve never worn it but then again I haven’t worn cologne in years. I think if a person smells like anything it should be like soap.
Ah, but there’s no such thing as just plain soap nowadays.
Heck I am 19 and I use old spice. All of my friends also use it. Nowadays it is marketed to youngsters too.
