(Old) Spot the Lunatic - A Cat MMP

The pot roast was damn good, and I have ezzactly enough for one more portion tomorrow, which means no leftovers. I hate leftovers.

Dinner tonight was a “fancy” grilled cheese sammich, so called since I used Provolone instead of my usual 'Murrican, and added some slices of tomato.

“Dessert” was 3 slices of insta-bacon.

Dessert v2.0 is about to be some coffee ice cream. Hope it’s not too caffeinated; it’s 4:30 a.m. and since tomorrow (tonight?) is Long Night, I oughta get some damn sleep.

But I am a weak woman, and it’s my favorite kind.

Too much working picking out those teensy little bones.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 39 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 58 and N.OS. The big item on today’s agenda is high RDOS inactivities. Cause I know y’all worry, Mr. Turkey is thawin’ out nicely in the beerator. Not to worry there’s still plenty of room for beerverages. Sup will be sundry leftovers heated up in the nukalator. Gotta get ready for those Turkey Day leftovers!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Sitting in my car waiting for the vampires to open up shop. I’m #3 on the list, so not too long a wait. But no wifi so after I post this from my phone, I’ll play on my tablet till called.

It was 32° in my yard this morning and it’s cool in the car but not enough to warrant idling in the parking lot.

MetalMouse - you invaded my dream, along with Peter Dinklage and a flamenco dancer. I’m sure there’s a message in there somewhere.

Anyway, happy Firday!!

Good morning.

It’s 44F and raining. The rain will last throughout the morning and peter out in the afternoon. Then, we’ll have sun breaks and a high temperature of 58F.

I was going to buy a new TV today, but last night, as my husband was baking some frozen French fries, the oven freaked out and said, “Fault detected.” He couldn’t turn the oven back on, so I waited until he was done using the stovetop (making hamburgers) and then went to the garage and reset the oven breaker. That reset things, and I could turn the oven back on and preheat it to the temperature. However, the fries my husband attempted to bake were scorched and not even entirely through the baking cycle. It’s either the sensor or the motherboard. I just replaced the element in the oven a few months ago, and now this.

The timing is atrocious, of course. Thanksgiving is coming up, and I doubt we’ll be able to get a repairman out here in a timely manner. And, even so, there’s the whole inspecting and then coming back with the parts thing. And if it turns out to be the motherboard, then what’s the point? I should get a new oven, but it would cost more than the TV I planned to purchase and, frankly, I just don’t want to spend that much money. I knew there was a reason I wouldn’t pull the trigger on that TV. I’ve been dithering about it for a month now.

I’ll turn 61 in May, so I guess I’m sort of the tail end of the middle of the group. Also, how the hell am I this old already?!

VanGo, I hope your interview goes well.

I know there is much more to address, but I need to tidy the kitchen, shower, and head out to the gettin’ sto.

I’m sending you all yays, hugs and boos as appropriate.

Ha!

Good morning everybody! I’m up and working on about 5 things at once depending on if my mom is awake or asleep (so as not to wake her). Catch y’all later.

Vampiring was successful- I didn’t pass out or anything! Havi g breakfast at Wendy’s before braving the Mart of Wall.

Back to my biscuit.

I remember when, late in my military career, a young troop checked into my unit. I looked at his papers and realized that he was born in the year I graduated high school, and I thought “Welp, time to retire.” And four years later I did. Not from work, just from the military.

Exercise on the calendar today, then a bit of grocery shopping. As the Thanksgiving gathering comes together I’m finding myself more entangled in preparing food for it, which was not my intention. But when my son said he had an 11 pound turkey for some 12-15 people, I thought “nope”. So I’ll be picking up a good-sized turkey breast to roast and take over.

Got my box from Zabar’s yesterday: pastrami, corned beef, rye bread, pickles and deli mustard. Sangweeches for dinner!

Both places turned me down.
If a place doesn’t hire me during the interview, its a no.
Always been that way.
Snow has melted, its to rain all day and night.

Most people exercise on a mat…

Happy Friday!

No park as nobody else was going and it’s cold anyway.
I wanted to run some errands today but it’s supposed to snow, so I will shift them to tomorrow.
I want to run another load of cardboard to the dump, drop off some drugs at the police station, put some letters in the box at the post office, and pick up groceries . All of that can be combined into one loop.

I found another mouse turd on my desk this morning. My son moved the mouse traps around. I think living here, mice are just going to be a fact of life from now on. We catch about one a month when it gets cold outside.
We usually catch them in what my son calls the Water Closet. It’s the closet with the hot water heater and water softener. He knows what a water closet is, but doesn’t know what else to call it.
At least the box elder bugs were nothing like they were last year.

Sometimes I wish I had moved to one of the Carolinas or Geogia as I hate the cold. Then I know I’d be complaining about the heat. I wish there was a place to live that the temps never drop below 50 or go above 85. And the days never get shorter.

There was a time I looked into moving to Belize. I knew a guy who was moving there and… it was thought. He was very excited about moving there permanently, LCOL and nice weather.

Weird ass dreams last night. I was in college, no idea why, I really wasnt a student, I was there doing some type of irk. The professor asked me to read aloud from a book and the class kept talking and wasn’t paying attention. I told the professor, you need to test them on this part.
Then she had me read from another book and this is important,
“Up until 1974, womens’ high heeled shoes were acceptable as a form of currency in the United States”. There was a picture (looked like from the 50s) of a woman handing over one high heeled shoe

for a bag of groceries. Once again, the class wasn’t paying attention and the professor said that would be on the test.
Dreams are usually vague, but that line stood out.
Then I could leave and of course as I was walking out to my car, I realized everybody ws staring because I had no clothes on. Ar first I thought, oh I should have put some clothes on. The I thought, who cares?
What’s a dream if you’re not naked in public somewhere in there?

Nice picture Hippie and Boo

The name Dinklage makes me do a double take because it looks like a combination of dick and shrinkage.
I had to look him up, no idea who he is. Now I know where the name Tyrion comes from.

Definitely bad timing Taters.
I do like my double oven with the top one being a convection oven as well.
It wasn’t cheap though.

{{{FCM and FCD}}}
I watched one of my ex’s mother as she was fading. I think I was the only person we was happy when she passed. Not that I wanted her to go, but watching her fade was a lot harder for me.

And… it’s snowing

She has a hypothesis. Her patient is on DSHS, so DSHS pays her. The wife isn’t, and she goes to a podiatrist that her insurance pays for. She might be making an excuse as to why not to hire Wifey, RN because the wife’s insurance won’t cover her services. (The Missus doesn’t take insurance anyway.) Wifey, RN says she wishes people should just come out and say what they mean. (‘Oh, the irony!’ says I. But not out loud.) ‘If she doesn’t want to use me because her insurance won’t pay, she should just say so.’ When she started her business she only had one or two patients a week. Now she’s scheduling patients a month out.

In other news, VPN is still down. I heard my phone and Teams make noise at 03:25 this morning. It was the Collections manager, who gets to the office early. Power’s on (but flickering, and he lost Internet briefly) but no VPN. He said it’s ‘raining like crazy’ down there.

We had two of our local pubs go down in the past month.

One wasn’t a surprise. Had been going downhill steadily and the last time we were there service was terrible, food wasn’t good. Menu was down to basics. I noticed that some of the decor that had been on the walls since it opened a decade ago was missing, which is never a good sign. Sure enough, it’s now closed and there’s a neatly typed notice of Landlord’s distress on the door, seizing all of the movables.

The other one was a bit of a surprise. Has been in operation for about 25 years and higher class, good quality furniture, extensive beer choices on tap (literally, a wall of kegs). But menu has been deteriorating and even their nachos were bad. If a pub can’t put together a decent plate of nachos …

Now there’s a hand-written note on the door, off-kilter, that says “Closed sorry”. Been that way for over a month. The fancy lights are still turned on inside all the time.

And a restaurant I go to at lunch is “closed for maintenance”, which doesn’t sound good.

Oh well. I imagine the inflation rates for food have been hitting them and their customers.

Piper Critters have all had breakfast. They all make it clear when I have to get up. Yorkie starts pitter-pattering around, claws on hardwood. Big mutt starts whining outside bedroom door. Cat 1 starts “Mwror”ing with strong note of impatience (“get moving - I’m hungry!”). Tuxedo cat issues little plaintive “meow”s (“have you forgotten about me?”)

All rather like the Bremerhaven Musicians.

Forecast is for 30 cm snow this weekend. That seems a bit much.

I assume you mean unneeded meds? Our CVS has a drop box for such things - not sure if that’s an option for you.

Back home. I went to WalMart to get Moo Cream - it works really well on MIL’s very dry skin and we’re almost out. The WalMart website said they carry it - I missed the part that said you had to order it. Dammit. But I found a similar product and I’m sure it’ll work.

I also filled my car so I’m ready to drive to Gambrills on Sunday. And I forgot about the work on the road leading to my house, but luckily, they had just started and my turn wasn’t blocked. So I’m good. First load of laundry is in the machine and 3 more to go. MIL is still sleeping - we’ll wake her when Jessica gets here.

I saw what the mystery restaurant across from Wildewood is - a Chipoltle, which to me is pfffft. We’ve been speculating for months as it was being built - how dare they not put up a sign saying what it would be!!! Anyway, now we know.

So that’s it up to now. Too much excitement before 10AM.

I am very deeply suspicious of Chipotle, given their recurring issues with food poisoning, in widely separated geographical areas, in multiple years. Jack in the Box seems safer.

Just Googling “Chipotle food poisoning” is quite alarming.

I’ve looked at Chipotle’s menu and nothing there appeals to me anyway, so not an issue. I am rather surprised, tho, that it’s the 3rd on in our county, about 2-3 miles from one and maybe 10 miles from the other.

got a notice for jury duty. that should be fun…

today the cold weather has moved in. in the low 30’s with high 20’s windchill. i have put on the winter jacket.

tonight i’ll get the radiant heater out of storage. i’ve had the one in the bedroom going but will need the one for the living room.

i’m trying to figure out how best to deal with the burnt dust smell when you first turn on the wall heaters. last year koritza dealt with it. she turned on the wall units when i was at work. i came home to a very toasty flat with no smell.

the crew approved the reindeer and top hat tree toppers. they were quite taken with the top hats.

there will be a lobby decor thing next month, the crew decided to open it up to the building.

Good Firday morning all. Slept well and will do the usual Firday Kroger run here in a little bit and give my debit card some work; I never had a debit card until this year but it’s been very useful and I’m getting more and more comfortable using it (long as I keep track on how much I’m spending on it…). Swimming later in the day and some sloth time later, it’s 45F now and only getting to 52F later, so that’s common weather for now in N. Ali-bama.

If that’s true, they’re working…

Cupcakes, Piper, restaurants and bars open and close often; we’re getting a new brew pub near me in what used to be the city library (talk about re-purposing!).

VanGo, conur with Yuck, there is nothing much worse than a cold, freezing rain (only thing worse is the same thing with a 25mph wind blowing),

Sari, I had to grin at the dog’s reactions; thanks for that story. And sorry about your cousin and I don’t understand health costs either…

Coppertone, sorry to hear things are still not working out. Continue to persevere.

FCM glad the blood-letting wasn’t too unpleasant, and,

if there is a message in there, I DO NOT want to read it!!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Taters, sorry to hear about the oven, hope it is fixable.

Let me know if you find such a place, I’ll split the rent.

Maybe that’s why I very seldom remember my dreams…

Not a Chipotle’s fan either, just not much into Mexican food.

rocky, stay warm, my space heater is on setting 2 of 3 here and the room is comfortable.

And it’s time to get dressed for shopping and get the stuff I need (main thing is Kroger has a ‘buy 2, get 3 free’ deal on 12 packs of Pepsi, so need to beat the rush for that). Take care all.

It’s called San Diego. I lived there for 2 years, went swimming in the ocean every month.

Ok off to an interview.

Our local Mexican restaurant had a kitchen fire last Spring. First they were going to be closed for two weeks. Then they were going to open in Summer. Then ‘Fall’. Then the end of November. Now they’re saying that it will be early-January. I guess the damage was more extensive than first thought, and it’s taking a lot of work to bring it up to code. We do have another Mexican place that we’ve never been to because it’s not a ‘restaurant’; just outside seating. And there are food trucks around. But we only had the one dine-in place.

In other news…

Hoquiam church steeple destroyed by lightning strike

Mrs. L.A. used to live in Hoquiam.

sheesh, I last posted a few minutes before midnight and when I got on the mmp this morning 9 hrs later, there were already 30 new posts.

They’re not ‘sweat’ pants, they’re yoga pants or jogging pants. I have several pair but I buy them so there is a bit of room in them so while they hug my skin they are not that tight.

Yes. I’ll take a pic when we get it up, preferably when there’s a little snow, it looks so pretty. (but there likely wasn’t any snow in Bethlehem  )

Following FCM’s suggestion I set up a daily event on my Iphone to take my pill every morning with 2 reminders. Worked this morning.

When our daughter was 3, I suddenly noticed that it had gotten very quiet in the house. I went upstairs and found her sitting on the bathroom sink counter, scissors in hand and a lock of hair in the sink. Took her for her first haircut and the stylist couldn’t have been more understanding and sweet to her.

Wish I had thought of this. Feeding the critters was the whole reason for leaving the pumpkins out for 3 weeks after Halloween. Oh well, next year.

oops, ninja’d.

Have washed a first load of dishes; more after we get back from Butterfly movie, lunch in converted train car, getting a T card for my brother and Krogering.
