(Old) Spot the Lunatic - A Cat MMP

I thought of you all today when we stopped at a Winco to set up our winter canned goods for icy days heap. We spent over $100 and discovered this got us a free turkey. We’re all set (like JtC), so we gave it to the family in line behind us. Happiness all around.

Doesn’t your court system have exemptions for peeps over a certain age? I found I qualified when I received a recent notice.
Also, JtC’s description of what happens when you arrive is the same thing I experienced; once in San Antonio and several times in the Mitten. When they were going through the general questions in SA for a child sexual abuse case of a 7 yr old, if memory serves, the lawyers asked if there was anyone who couldn’t be objective (or something similar) and I raised my hand. They asked me several times and I ended up saying, he looks guilty to me. I was excused and sent back to the jury pool room. I heard later that after that, the accused took a plea.

I wondered what the politically correct wordage should be in place of Indian summer.

It’s JtC that’s the good neighbor, letting Harry in and giving him her ear and refreshments.

All the Spartans were either at Spartan stadium or watching intently on their TVs. (Boilers too; not that there might be many of them in Muskyville)

I totally understand. I’ve been doing that this year. I’m hoping I can get my willpower back soon.

Bob B Glad you’re enjoying your excursions!

thanks shoe and BBBoo

Lily that was a wonderful thing to do; good on 'ya. Hopefully they can pay it forward at some time.

FCD should be home within an hour. He got trapped by a very chatty boat guy in a building that doesn’t get a cell signal, as I discovered when I tried to call him. MIL slept something over 3 hours and woke very confused, thinking she had to weigh someone. She’s dozing again in her chair.

I’m looking forward lunch with my mom tomorrow just to get a break, even if the drive is almost 90 minutes (depending on how many lights catch me.) For now, I’ll crochet for a while longer then decide what I want for supper.

Yeah, excitement reigns here.

Weather app says “100% chance of snow in 30 minutes.”

Right now there appear to be 10 participants. If you’d like to join in, click the link above, it’s in Misc and Personal Stuff I Must Share. The organizer asked for people to sign up by Dec 1 so by next Sunday. :christmas_tree: :star2: :bell: :cookie:

Got some wood-chopping done, and I pulled ivy off of a couple of cedars (and uprooted much of it).

Now to finish off the coffee, relax a bit, shave, shower, and get ready for Mrs. L.A.'s Birthday Dinner.

Her patients love her. She’s very proud of being a nurse, and a Certified Foot Care Specialist. She’s an RN, BSN, CFCS. I don’t think anyone else goes to patients’ homes. She could make a lot more money working for a home health company, but she likes being her own boss, not having to be on-call, and most of all, she sees in-home foot care as a calling.

The Jeep is definitely possessed, by a powerful, supernatural spirit of wanderlust; and it frequently demands that I take it for long drives, preferably to places that normal cars cannot go, in any event, at least to places I’ve never seen before and would otherwise have no reason to go.

And I dare not refuse it.

I wonder if all Jeeps are like this.  I noticed a similar thing about that Compass that we rented for a month, back in July of 2022, though not nearly as strongly as with this Jeep.

When my Cherokee was new (1999), I’d wait for a heavy rain and then take it up jeep/motorcycle trails in the hills of L.A. Today, people keep asking me if I want to sell it. I’ve considered it many times over the years, but then it snow. Anyway, we have kayaks.

Yesterday was the longest Jeep trip we’ve yet taken.  On some previous occasion, I thought I had determined that for a day trip, from where we live, the only escape from California is to go eastward, into Nevada.  We’ve done so two or three times, so far.

Yesterday, we went northward, and crossed into Oregon, going as far as Medford before we turned back toward home.

Total distance was about 672 miles, over about a dozen hours o drive time.

The picture was from an impromptu side trip, on the way back.  Something on a map looked interesting to me, so we tried to go there, but the road was blocked after a few miles by very deep snow, way short of that destination.  We took that picture just a short distance from that blockage.

She’s my kind of nurse and I don’t say that lightly! Respect to her.

VanGo great news about the job! Here’s hopin’ new boss decides to take over your shop as well.

I hope it explains my feelings about jury duty for myself. I feel that it is a very important civil right and that it is every American’s duty to participate when called. I would still go if it was a civil case, but it’s someone else’s turn to work the ugly cases.

It worked very nicely, and doesn’t look that horrible so I’m happy. Thank you for the encouragement!

Lighters. How many lighters have you lost in your lifetime…or is that too depressing to think about?

You guys didn’t get pics because I couldn’t get through the crowd of people laughing and taking pictures, some of which were posted on the gym bulletin board for the enjoyment of those who missed it. Those guys will never live it down, people will be sharing that story with their grandkids!

That was totally my thought. We are still able to shop and cook but :notes: There will come a day…when youth will fade away.. :musical_note: and it would be wonderful to get such a gift. That’s why I wanted to give it back, I didn’t want to take something that was needed elsewhere.

It was very good in coffee. Hubs up a couple of smoke detectors (including the LOUD, LIGHT FLASHING one for the bedroom because he has slept through the old ones going off in the middle of the night) so I put some ice cream in a bowl and poured some of the Bailey’s over it. Hubs thought that was an excellent idea and offered to put up more smoke detectors if I wanted them.

Listen to the weed, it knows all!

Despite not being here a whole year, we feel much more like part of a community than we did in AZ. Looking back on it, I think the heat and desolation breaks things in people’s hearts. I mean, I did all of the things and volunteered but never really felt like I was making any difference at all.

Hurray! enjoy your well deserved time off!

There are several places around here that are advertising full T-day dinners. They do not look bad at all and might be a better choice considering your oven issues.

Lets see…rolled oats are grain and very healthy. Eggs are good for you, sugar cane is a veggie and everyone knows veggies are healthy. Oatmeal cookies are practically the textbook example of a healthy breakfast!!!

Museum putty works a treat.

Ida run away too! I’m glad you found your cap, it’s sometimes hard to find just the right head-wear.

Makes note in case we get matched!

Being able to do that sort of thing always makes me happy too.

I adore the statue!

I’ll bet we even watched the same movie!

(CA, HI and AZ…all the same.)

Oh, its a win for everyone involved! He’s taken us under his wing as neighborhood…I don’t know what the word is…patriarch? We get all the neighborhood gossip, the neighbors know that we are on the approved list, Hubs doesn’t have a bunch of sweets sitting around tempting him and Harry gets cookies and conversation.

Speaking of whom, I’m hearing him out back. More later.

Badgers: < miss 2 field goals >

At least the gin&tonic and tuna salad sandwich are good.

It’s not an Excursion.  That was a very large SUV made by Ford some time back, perhaps as an attempt at an arms race with Chevrolet over their Suburban.

This is a fifth-generation Jeep Cherokee, not made by Ford, and not nearly as big as an Excursion.

WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! Y’all My DAWGS won, not that I was worried, after all it was against UMass. We had majik intartoobz pizza and sallit for N.O.L. just cause. We also managed nappage. Hardcore RDOS are we! Netflix, chill and popcorn are up next.

I’m sorry about that. I promise to not gloat, I promise.

In the whole state of Nebraska I doubt there is a cranky old lady more surprised than me. If it holds, we’ll be bowl eligible and a happy and relieved state. That’ll free me up to just enjoy the Black Friday game against arch rival Iowa and I promise to cheer on the Badgers against whoever they play next so they can be bowl eligible too. With our darn Mumper luck we’ll end up playing each other in said bowl game.

And congrats to your DAWGS, swampie!

That is a great feeling.

Just woke up from a short nap. It’s been pretty low key today otherwise. We ran to the UPS store, bought some groceries, and dropped off a few of my Christmas things at one of the art markets.

I’m glad the move has turned out well for you.

Heavy snow coming down now, but not wet like earlier in the week, because it’s colder. One prediction is 30 cm, but that seems high. No wind, so maybe we will get the Christmas card trees and snow this time.

Howdy Y’all! Netflix, chill and popcorn have been accomplished. OYKW decided on an early bedtime. Perhaps I wore him out earlier today. Make of that what you will. I am still wired up a bit so I shall see what’s up on teh intartoobz for awhile.

Boo yay for the Huskers!:corn::corn::corn:

Good evening all. Spent some time at the gym and decided on having Sunday dinner on Saturday night, so changed and went over to the Texas Roadhouse around 4pm, because who else would be dining at 4pm on Saturday. Turned out the answer to that was ‘a substantial portion of the N. Ali-bama populace’ so I had to wait about 35 minutes for my seat, but the steak and hot rolls made up for it. Also I am now the possessor of a new 30-45F jacket, Wrangler brand. After that much adventure I’m inside and not planning on moving much more outside of the kitchen and eventually to bed. On the tackleball front, the Buckeyes won and Alabama, like most SEC teams, had their ‘creampuff’ game prior to the more serious ones to end the year.

Cookie, hope you had a good day marketing (sounds like you did). If you like Markets like this, you might want to Watch Kara & Nates videos from 9 of them last winter in Europe (note: linked the first one, all three together total over 90 minutes but are lots of fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fg3yUEcJweA

Bob-B, glad you and Nettie are getting out and about in some beautiful county out there, just be car(e)ful…

CatGlove, sounds like a fine day out, I would have skipped sharing a film with several classes worth of kids that age too. And hooray in getting your cap back! As for Kroger points, does your store let you get 50 extra points from doing an on-line review? less than 10 minutes and can make a difference if you do it once a week.

lily, nice picture, Germany, I guess? And so nice to donate the Turkey.

flyboy, echoing BBBoo in respect for Wifey RN.

Dictionary.com for “Excursion”

  • a short trip or outing to some place, usually for a special purpose and with the intention of a prompt return:
a pleasure excursion; a scientific excursion.
But I rather think you know that and it’s my leg you are pulling…

Piper, given your location, I think you can handle 30cm (12 inches for us Americans).

And need to replenish my Pepsi Zero, so have a good night all.
