I aced both interviews. They will let me know.
Eating a salad right now, enjoying the 55 degree weather.
It will crash Thursday.
Sunday, not Saturday for lunch due to Mom’s schedule, and my two youngest sisters may be there. At least one will be as she’s driving. It’s about 85 minutes from me, but most of the way is along US301 with all its stoplights. Their drive is just over an hour, but it’s mostly interstates. Anyway, that’s the plan.
MIL went to bed around 5:30 after sleeping most of the day in her chair, again hardly eating or drinking. We’ll see what tomorrow holds.
Best of luck!
However, anyone who’s anti-vaxx should lose her nursing license.
Or at least keep their mouth shut about it.
TC friend who was a hospice nurse. I used to pick up a surplus box for her every week. One week she was over to get her stuff and I mentioned that I had gotten my flu and covid shots. She stepped back from me and asked me to keep my distance because I was shedding the virus through my skin. I was so offended that I told her that I would skip class the next day to avoid infecting anyone. She back-pedaled. I skipped class.
I consider myself pretty lucky to have my current doctor. I had a wonderful relationship with my doctor for over 15 years and then she left private practice to work for the VA.
I’m just now forgiving her. It was impossible to keep a doctor for longer than a year ever since. I didn’t get fired, they just got tired of all the BS and sold out to corp.
My current doctor has been around for a very long time and has an established practice and billing folks who know how to keep the insurance money coming in.
I went in for a MMJ appointment and asked to get a covid shot with my flu shot while I was there. The nurse started grabbing pointy things and then realized that she had given her last covid shot to someone else that morning, but promised to call me as soon as their next batch arrived. Two days later, she called me and told me to come in and get jabbed. The reception lady told me to just take a seat and I would be next. Sure enough, I waited less than 5 minutes to get stabbed.
Best photo I have available at the moment.
How sweet. I love cuddling cats, they just make my brain happy.
I talked to Harry’s Missis and she said that they had the mains (Turkey, ham and land lobsters) and big sides under control but they always run out of deviled eggs, and that adult cranberry sauce sounds lovely.
Hubs still wants a feast here at home so we will have our less elaborate dinner a few days later.
Lest anyone thinks he’s getting sentimental about the season or new home, the date doesn’t matter nearly as much as the leftovers.

Good ride on Ariel today. She’s back to her sassy self.
That is such wonderful news!
aced both interviews.
Good luck!
I was Early Out tonight, so I’m already chillin’ at home.
Watching funny standup videos, snacking on the Roadhouse leftovers, plus some cheese’n’crackers (Triscuits with brie & orange marmalade, cuz I’m bougie like that) and having some intermittent smokes.
Very grateful to be sitting on my rump.
flyboy, does anyone ever, like, work , on office day or is it just an excuse for conspicuous consumption?
Let me put it this way. Our important message texts are called Emergency Alerts Text System.
The teacher and child were in the one by the wall and the two lanes by the open part had two women who were having a great chat. They didn’t move the entire time I was swimming.
Had there been someone in the only open lane, would it have been unseemly for me to ask the talkers to share a lane so I could use one?
Long as you were polite about it, never hurts to ask. And if they say no, then accept it with good grace and then smear butter on their locker doors…
If you see me running, you’d better run too, because there’s something utterly terrifying chasing me.
Me too. Two snapped Achilles and two busted up knees makes for poor running form. The thing chasing is prolly gonna get me. Y’all go on ahead, I’ll fend it off.
A couple quotes from the webcomic Schlock Mercenary:
Wet one, glad you and Ariel are both doing well.
Nellie, a nurse who’s an anti-vaxxer…I sometime wonder if this whole coming down from the trees and walking upright was the best decision…
Coppertone, crossing appropriate appendages for your success.
the date doesn’t matter nearly as much as the leftovers.
A man I can relate too…
flyboy.
Did a little more gym time, and despite that the lying scale said I had gained 2.2lbs today…dishes have been stowed in their areas until I dirty them again and sweaty stuff is in the dryer, so all is well.
See all y’all tomorrow.
Up from naptime, having a Manhattan, and Redneck stirfry. Spot is chasing an ice cube around the kitchen.
You do spoil that cat so…
He’s a tuxedo wearing god. It is merely the proper offerings.
All else is going to shit. Donwanna bug you guys with it all. Most of it is my fault in not planning properly. Once upon a time I was smart.
{{{{VanGo}}}} And you are smart, the system is kinda rigged against non billionaries.
I saw that yesterday. I also want a saber tooth tiger cub.
Spot needs a girlfriend.

I knew you were the right one to ask!!!
A man I can relate too…
He was just fussing because I hadn’t gone to Logan for booze and the cranberry sauce needed to be cooked tomorrow. Somebody might be looking forward to Turkey day more than I knew, when I reminded him that T-day was the FOURTH Thursday of November, he looked shocked and then laughed his ass off. I can tell that his Parkinsons is advancing as expected, but times like this confuse me. Was it just a RDOS mistake or the disease?

Happy Toosday!
We have rain this evening. I wasn’t expecting that.
One good thing about the rain. My son likes me to get him a Wendy Triple burger to eat when he gets home in the morning. There’s a group of teens/young adults that hang out in the parking lot. They seem to be mostly harmless, but you can tell that a few are on something. One couple brings their toddler with them, another girl brings her cute little dog. One likes to walk around the parking lot swinging an iron rod, and he always looks more than a bit wired. Several times one or two has started to approach my truck. Rayleigh always lets out a low growl and they will turn away. Misiu likes to stand on the console, so he looks a lot bigger than he is. I think they are harmless, but you never know. Nice thing with the rain is that they weren’t hanging out there tonight.
In the good news dept, one of my dear friends is dating a great man and she is super excited. It started badly when he had to cancel their first date. I convinced her to give him a second chance, he did have a good reason, and so far it is going great. At the end of each date, he already has plans for their next date. He’s a take charge kind of guy and she is a bit insecure, so this is good fit I think. I’m crossing my fingers, I’m so happy for her.
She just got out of a bad relationship, and now when I ask about the ex, it’s like she has totally forgotten about him. He’s in the dustbin of her mind, right where he belongs.

Bingo!!
Right now my Nebraska sky is that grimmest of flat featureless foreboding of bad things to come gray.
I know that look.
Off to bed as the blizzard blows. 6 below, snow, and wind.
Went to sleep very early (for me) but reawakened after an hour or so. Which is fine, I still needed to tend to the rats & refill Monkey’s kibble bowl - no worries, both tasks now completed - so I guess my brain knew I had unfinished business.
In other words, I took a nap. At 11 p.m.
Now I’m tossing a bored cat some treats & contemplating scrambled eggs. Because why not make breakfast at 3 in the morning?
Five-sumpin’ in the morning & imma go back to bed in a sec. Tag-team out the morning Mumper folks having their coffee & getting ready to wander on in.
Had my scrambled eggies, plus a mini tube of whomp croissants. Monkey got some squeezy-crack and needs to quit begging for more/to go outside. (Dude, even if you weren’t grounded, it’s cold and dark, dafuq my man?)
Now is time for more sleeeeeeeeep …
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 1c/34f with a predicted high of 2c/36f and cloudy. Weather app says “Fucker, be cool. It’s chilly but it ain’t cold. You’ll fucking be ok.” It was definitely cold when I left the house at 6.40am!
Well, the vet visit went off better than expected. She didn’t like it, but was cooperative with the doc.
Let’s hope she realises that it’s all for her benefit, and she’ll be a much happier mog once the extractions are done. I hope she forgives you quickly!
Well, have you ever driven a Jeep over a 4 foot snow embankment? It’s the bee’s knees!
No, but I wouldn’t mind having a go!
Looks like one of my sisters will bring my mom about halfway on Saturday so we can meet for lunch.
That’s a good compromise, and it’ll be good for you to see her (and get a break from everything else).
We’ve had toothless cats before, despite regular offerings of gooshy fud, I’d see them gumming down kibble on a daily basis.
Our beloved Ophie didn’t have many teeth left, the vet said it wouldn’t be an issue because senior cat food comes in very small pieces so they can pretty much inhale it, swallow it and don’t have to chew anything.
BooFae, people there go mad when there’s a skiff of snow? I’m so disillusioned.
The kids get very excited because a whiff of snow means schools will close or their parents will just keep them at home because it’s not safe to be out. Drivers act like total idiots because serious snow is actually quite rare for us (especially in the Midlands where I live).
I was glad we’d decided to do the grocery shopping at lunchtime yesterday, the snow continued all afternoon on and off so there was quite an accumulation for us. We had some more overnight and it looks like the gritters haven’t been out either.
The Travel Gods were laughing today. I looked out this morning and saw a fresh covering of snow but decided I’d attempt the trek to campus. I was out of the house early, no sign of a bus for 45 minutes and the first one that went past didn’t stop as the bus was full. Finally made it to the station and got on a late-running train, made it to campus without too much more hassle but all the roads were very slippery. I’m planning to take my laptop home tonight in case it’s icy in the morning as I’m not risking my poor old bones!
Should be going to the pub tonight but I think that might be called off due to poor driving conditions (and poor surface parking conditions).
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out with light rain with a predicted high of 78 and N.O.S. this afternoon. The big item on today’s agenda is to procure provisions to get us through the next two weeks which includes Turkey Day. No way do we intend to brave the grocery sto’ durin’ Turkey Day week! The afternoon shall be spent in RDOS inactivities as we recover from bein’ amongst the great unwashed. We will go over to the church house this evenin’ for the mid-week doin’s.
WetOne yay for Ariel bein’ back to her sassy self!
Coppertone appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed.
Nellie it’s hard to wrap my haid around a nurse who is an anti-vaxxer.
JtC I agree with hubs. The leftovers are the best part of the feast.
sari good for Misiu and Rayleigh protectin’ mama!
shoe nitey nite.
BooFae hope the trip home goes well. Seems like a good night to stay in to me. Also smart to plan for a WFH day tomorrow.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I should purtify myself and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Oh woe!
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Mornin’ all.
It’s 45F and drizzling. We’ll have rain showers in the morning, cloudy skies in the afternoon, and a high temperature of 55F. Many areas suffered damage due to yesterday’s wild weather, some huge wind gusts, and many downed trees and power lines. Fortunately, I escaped damage and noticed no big winds around my house. Just a few miles south of me, though, they’ve canceled school due to all the downed trees and power lines.
BooFae, I hope your trip home is smooth.
FCM, I’m glad you will see your mother, and I hope today is peaceful.
Nellie, that nurse is stupid and shouldn’t be working in healthcare.
I plan to go to the store early this Friday for T-Day fixings. I’ll get a small turkey and the rest of the fixings. There is no fancy cranberry sauce here; neither my husband nor son care for it, so there is no point in making any.
Right, then. I need to finish my coffee and see what fresh hell awaits me in my work email. You all take care!
keep my distance because I was shedding the virus through my skin.
SMH so hard, I think I hurt something…
sweaty stuff is in the dryer,
I assume it was washed first???
We have rain this evening. I wasn’t expecting that.
Same here - I was lying in bed and at first I thought it was the cat prowling in our room. Nope, pitter patter on the roof!
Now I’m tossing a bored cat
I was amused by that mental image without the rest of the sentence…
We’ve had toothless cats before, despite regular offerings of gooshy fud, I’d see them gumming down kibble on a daily basis.
My grandfather didn’t like to wear his false teeth, and the man would eat peanuts without them!!
FCM, I’m glad you will see your mother,
Me, too. I think the last time I was at her place was in August. I’m glad my sister is willing to drive part way here - I never liked the 2:15± hour drive to her place, and now it’s really more than I want to deal with alone. Especially after my little seizure incident (even tho there’s been no repeat.) So we’ll meet here which is roughly halfway. (All of a sudden, I’m realizing that 70 is no longer 50…) Anyway, with no kids or grands along, we may actually be able to converse.
Another weird MIL night. She took herself to bed around 5:30 last evening - I had to help her with some of her night clothes, and FCD got her tucked in all cozy. Then around 10, she was in the bathroom, all stripped down, ready for her shower. Bear in mind she hasn’t showered alone in more than 6 months. I was already in bed, but FCD got her to dress and get back in bed. Which worked till shortly after 6 when she was back in the bathroom, preparing to strip down again. This time, FCD caught her early, reminded her that Jessica won’t be here for 4 more hours, and got her back in bed again. It’s now 8-ish and she’s been quiet.
I got the smoker pulled out and set up under the porch roof, since rain is promised today. And, for the record, whoever says a turkey thaws in the fridge in 3-4 days LIES!!! I’d put my 12# bird in the fridge last Weds and when I pulled it out today, there was still a hunk of ice in the cavity! So the Butterball came out of the freezer and is in the fridge for next week.
Meanwhile, in a little bit, I’ll start pre-heating the smoker and I’ll put the rub and stuff on the bird. If my instruction sheet isn’t lying to me, it’ll take about 7 hours. Then once it cools, I’ll carve and package some for next week, and the rest for assorted future meals. There’s sufficient space in both freezers to accommodate it all.
The neck and innards and (eventually) the carcass will go to Daughter - she loves making broth. She’ll get the extra parts from the roast turkey next week, too. Lots of broth!! I expect she’ll give me some, if only because she has a small freezer.
So, today’s only plan is the turkey. And Jessica coming for shower time. Anything else will be improvisation.
Happy Wednesday!!
Here’s the thing about running for me. I have been a runner off and on for the last 30 years. When my boyfriend passed away 12 or so years ago, I made a promise to myself that I would complete a half-marathon in his honor. I still remember and intend on keeping that promise today. This is one of my motivations for knee repair. Which, by the way, using the glp-1 I have lost 10% of the weight needed for the surgery so far.
Initially when I started running ‘for him’ things went poorly. I’m not sure how to describe it, but I felt like running was supposed to (I know this sounds weird) bring him back, but obviously with this mindset I was always going to be a failure. Since I got my mind a little more on track, I know that completing this goal would be an honor to his memory, but also a testament to my willingness to keep promises to myself and recognizing that I deserve to do so.
MetalMouse, it was only just that one day of running around. Normally I’ll just be heading to Canal Fulton and will leave out the looooong trip up to Twinsburg.
Coppertone, good luck!
As I said I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday, I needed some flocking powder to work on my next project. Today I’m going to start on that project and work on my little wire Christmas trees as well.
First, though, I have to convince this poodle to get off my lap!
