Old "SuperTed" cartoon...what was the Skeleton's deal?

I’m sure a few other people my age remember a British cartoon called Superted, from the 80s. (Probably saw it in between episodes of The Raccoons)

Superpowered teddy bear, brought to life by Mother Nature, traveled the world fighting…ah, hell. It’s been a long time, and I’m sure I’d get the details wrong. And it’s trippy enough as it is—Just read the wikipedia entry for the full, bizarre story.

Anyway, the villains of the series included an evil Texan, and an animated Skeleton. (I seem to remember the skeleton being rather like C3PO. And, upon checking, his name apparently was just “Skeleton.”)

My question is: what was the Skeleton’s backstory, exactly? I dimly remember an “origin” episode which showed that…the other villains were just going through a tomb during a caper, and simply caused enough ruckus to disturb the skeleton’s “rest,” and he joined the villains shortly after that.

No magic, curses, or zombie gas that I remember, and he wasn’t supposed to be a dead wizard or something. He simply brought himself back to life and having nothing better to do, signed up with some passing supervillains.

Yeah.

Now it’s been…jeez, twenty years since I’ve last seen that cartoon, so my memories are a little fuzzy. So I’m curious—what exactly was the story behind ol’ Skeleton?

All I remember is Melvyn Hayes’s voice.

Spottyman… spottyman… There was a spotty man, right?

Other than that, I just got total recall on the theme tune.

Superted, flies through the air…

actually, thats all I got.

Skeleton wasn’t dead. He was just so flamingly gay that all of his soft tissue has burned away. After being dowsed with an extinguisher, he moved on to a life of crime.
