I don’t know. But for a double-sawbuck, I expect it to be good!
@Jack_Batty: Lookin’ goood! Wimmin be crawlin’ on you soon.
I’d love to bag the cutting and shaving gig myself but my local wimminfolk would probably moveout. Hee-ey … Hmmm … this gives me an idea.
Up from naptime with Spot. I had a Sazarac, now it’s time for Asian BBQ stirfry.
I’m a growing boy.
I always do the survey, and give a 5. Otherwise Corporate rides their ass.
Very rock star looking. Nice.
Note to self: Add absinthe to shopping list.
That’s what I thought when I saw the After pic.
What a year it’s been. So now Hubs has diverticulitis and is on a 72 hr liquid diet and then a 72 hr soft diet. And I bought all this food for the vacation at the cottage. Then this afternoon I get a call from somewhere in NY. I rarely answer the phone if I don’t know who it is. Then I received a text from same number saying it’s the owner of the vrbo and to call at my convenience so I called immediately. Due to the bad storm on Thursday, there’s no electricity or internet at the vrbo; supposed to come back on tomorrow evening but with all the outages, who knows if it really will. Heck!

Note to self: Add absinthe to shopping list.
Note to self: Add rye to shopping list
Happy Saturday!
This week went by quickly. I can’t believe it’s Saturday already, and I have about 125 posts to catch up with.
It has been one whirlwind of a clusterfuck of lies, incompetence, and frustration.
The truck, I have no friggin clue what is going on.
The dealership called me Tuesday and said the truck is running now, but they have no idea what is wrong with it. They asked permission for a service manager to drive it home and use it for a day as his own vehicle to see what happens. I said, fine by me, because the last thing I want is to bring it home and have to take it right back in.
I haven’t heard from them. I called yesterday and today. I’m not fond of the loaner, so I would like to get my truck back. But I’m not that pressed to get it back
Except Barky/Humpy mom is telling me I need to call them up and raise hell. That I am being too soft and that they are probably just letting my truck sit in a corner somewhere.
I know she only cares because I won’t take the dogs in the Kia, and she has nobody to go to the dog park with.
Well… it’s not my fault everybody else quit coming.
I am too exhausted from dealing with the inheritance, and gathering the money for the closing.
One crisis at a time is all I can handle.
The pain. I forgot to call my doctor last Friday, I was down to my last two Tramadol. I called them on Monday to ask for a refill. I finally got the notice that I could pick them up yesterday. I thought Tramadol wasn’t doing much until I had to go five days without.
My MILD procedure is scheduled for Monday. I hope it helps.
With everything else that is going on, I probably should have rescheduled it.
The lawyer! I am furious!
I mailed him the check for the difference between what I received and what I should have received. I got the tracking number as he requested.
He told me he would deposit the check as soon as he got it and send my son’s check right away. Thursday, I checked the tracking and found out he had received the check on Tuesday, and still hadn’t deposited it. I sent a nasty email and NIece1 called. He never talked to either of us but he deposited the check on Friday.
My niece wrote out the checks today and actually, nicely, took my son’s check to the bank and deposited it in our account for us.
TD Ameritrade was still giving her the runaround about splitting the stock. Niece1 talked with them on Tuesday and they said the stock would be divided in 1-2 business days. They told her the problem was that they had no way of verifying her signature, so she had to go through some verification process.
Thursday, nothing had been done.
They told her they could only do whole stocks, not fractions of stock. She said, Fuck It, I’m tired of their back-and-forth bullshit. She sat down Thursday night and did all the calculations. Then she called me Friday morning and we sat on the phone together while she did it manually. It took over 2 hours to do it. One person at a time, one stock at a time, double and triple checking the numbers the entire time.
I was ready to quit Thursday. I thought there is no way we will have the money to close on the house in time. We didn’t want to touch my son’s other account at TD. I called them and explained the situation and we were able to take out a loan against his account with them.
So… finally, the estate is (mostly) settled and the money is in the bank, ready for closing.
The only things left to do is wait for my mother’s income tax refund, and see if the estate needs to file next year.
The lawyer owes me $24.35 for the bounced check fee and the tracking fee. I will probably never see it.
I still have a shit ton of stuff to do before the closing.
I have to get the cashier’s checks, get insurance, and contact the utilities. I need quotes for movers.
Once I get the measurements, I need to order the washer, dryer, and dishwasher. Also, a microwave, riding lawnmower, garage door opener, and curtains. Find somebody to install the dishwasher, railings, and garage door opener.
Then after we move, I need to find somebody to get this house ready to sell.
A painter is parking his van out front, I think he lives across the street. I was sitting out front the other morning and saw on the van that he also does drywall, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
Perfect and convenient, if the price is right and he has time.
Maybe he can install the dishwasher, railings, and garage door opener?
Once we get the truck back, driving lessons can resume.
And we can start going to the dog park again.
The GR are growing fast, and they have a lot of energy. They are not bad puppies, but excess energy leads to naughtiness.
Soon, they will have a big yard to run in, which will help.
They won’t leave Adam alone, but he doesn’t stupid shit too.
When Sandburg wrote that ‘fog comes in on little cat feet’ he sure wasn’t talking about Adam, who thunders through the house on big elephant feet. If he wasn’t so damn noisy, the GR would never know he was there. I think he stomps around on purpose just to get attention.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 77 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 99 and N.O.S. with a heat index of a hunnert and twelve. The big item on today’s schedule is deheathenization wherein I get to preside and read the sermon I found on teh intartoobz. After that it will be back to da cave for an afternoon of high sloth in the a/c. Sup shall be burgers 'n fixin’s and chips.
Bats lookin’ good!
Bob Buddy looks like one happy kitteh!
Sari hope all the financial stuff comes together soonest and that you get truck back soonest as well. I saw the pic of the GR on the book of faces. They are gettin’ to be big doggies!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
Jeebus Sari. I scarecely know where to begin except to say “Good luck and we’re all pulling for you”. Here’s hoping the procedure Monday gives some relief.
Happy Sunday everyone!!!
It’s several hours pre-dawn and as you might surmise, I am fed, sheveled, and about to zoom to irk. Today will be something interesting. Myself and a brand new FO are to ferry an empty jet to Georgetown Guyana. To rescue a flight that broke down there yesterday. Once there we just go to the hotel while the crew that broke down yesterday will take our jet to wherever. On Monday we’re supposed to ferry the now-broken jet home. That’s the good news. Ferries are generally fun, or at least different.
The bad news is Georgetown is one of the worst shitholes in the system. Back in USAF I spent time in many grindingly poor desperately violent cities & towns in Latin America. This place brings back memories. Not a nice place at all. Not then; not now. The hotel is very nice but the only people there are oil industry managers, government ministers, Russians with bodyguards, and us. One dare not leave the hotel grounds. Ok; one last shot at adventure.
The other issue is that badly broken jets in places with less than full repair services rarely are fixed on time. I might be there a few days. Double-ugh.
Gotta run!
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/60f with a predicted high of 17c/63f, and cloudy. Weather app is quite sure there is “No fucking sun for you!!” I can well believe it, it was raining when I got up and now it’s just gloomy and grey out there. The hourly forecast says no rain, and it won’t get hot either. That’s fine with me.
Belated happy birthday, @Seanette - sorry I missed it yesterday.
sari that is an awful lot to be dealing with all at once. I can only wish you the best of luck and to remember that we’re here when you need to rant.
Swampy have a fun morning being in charge!
JBats - love the new look, although I quite liked the old look too.
pilot that does not sound like a very fun place to stay at all, keep safe!
I missed coming in here yesterday to post, the day just got away from me a bit. We were out on Friday night to see a couple of bands - much fun was had, there was much jollification and lots of hugging. And of course we didn’t get home until about 1am. Saturday started late, got the cats fed and medicated, then went off to the hairdresser to get my barnet chopped. After that, I nipped home for lunch and then went to spend the afternoon at a local animal sanctuary.
They were having a dog show and our little cat rescue had a stall there to raise some much-needed funds. We did good business, and stayed until the end to help dismantle everything and pack it all away again. We made £315 which is enough to cover the public liability insurance we need so that we can continue to do events like this, and the bit left over will go into the pot for the £10K we need to cover vet bills.
After we got home again, I flopped on the sofa for a bit, had dinner, watched a film and went to bed. 'im indoors stayed up to watch a second film, consequently I have been up for a couple of hours and he’s still snoring.
Cats have been tended to and fussed, they are now distributed around the house having their post-breakfast snoozes. Once he’s up and has rejoined the land of the living, we’ll have some food and then head back into town for today’s musical shenanigans. Back to the same place we were at on Friday night, this time it’s for the annual Giff-Fest, a day of good music and fab company. Since we will be out of the house for the majority of the day, that necessitates eating out. I predict a visit to the Subcontinent for curry!
My sister, who was ten years older than I, had a friend named Edie. At age 16, Eddie’s mom got a job as a live in housekeeper and there was no provision in her living arrangements for a teen aged son. Eddie had no where to go, and ended up sleeping on our couch for a year or more. He was a gifted artist. This was back in the fifties when pin striping was very popular.
We had a very old refrigerator that was in good working order but was really rough looking. One morning just as Mom was going to work she asked Eddie to do something about it and put another coat of paint on it.
When she came home there was a huge picture of Fred Flintstone holding an enormous turkey leg with a a bite out of it spread across the door. That refrigerator was still there when we moved out many years later…

about to zoom to irk.
So you’re piloting drones now? Via Zoom?
I crack me up!
Woke stoopit early again, but lazed with my tablet till after 6:30. I have since tended the critters, tidied the kitchen, and fed my face. We’ll be leaving by 11 to go to Mom’s and meet up with some cousins we haven’t seen in 7 years.
I have a dental appt at 7 in the morning - I think in the future, I’ll make them a tad later. But I just set my alarm for 6 tomorrow and that’ll get me there on time.
Much rain forecast for this week, and we need it. And this is the week I’m going to try to start a new routine so the house doesn’t become a total dump. Since I don’t get Tobias till after 9, I’ll have time each morning to do a chore or two. I want to attempt having a regular rotation. We’ll see how that goes. I’d also like to try doing some gentle yoga if I can find something I like on youtube. I would do the class at the senior center, but I can’t take the kid and their schedule doesn’t work for me.
And so begins the day.
Happy Sunday!
Morning all. As predicted, sleeping last afternoon messed up my timing and I am up about 6am with a long day ahead to stay awake. At least the temperature has gone down a little (only have a high of 89F today) and there is a 50/50 chance of rain today and tomorrow. The Sunday dining out and maybe some gym time from all the snacking yesterday are on the agenda, but that’s about all.
Pilot, be safe and hope the aircraft fix is simple…interesting mix at the hotel, sounds more like a James Bond movie set…
Hippie, would love to seen a picture of that refrigerator. Great story.
J-Bats, wish I still had hair to cut…lookin’ good.
boo fae, sounds like you had a great weekend so far, hope it continues. And yeah on the contributions for the rescue.
swampy, happy sermonizin’.
Bob-B, nice pic.
Sari, just remember, somebody had to finish at the bottom of their law class. Take a deep breath, get yourself ready, and plunge into the housing situation.
Cat Glove, not I good weekend, I guess. Hope Hubs gets feeling better.
OK, need to finish waking up and do the morning internetting. Have a good Sunday all.
Nursery Rhyme Narrator:“This little piggy went to market
This little piggy stayed home…”
Me: < wiggles toes upon waking up >
Spot: "THIS LITTLE PIGGY’S GONNA GET FREDDY KRUEGERED! "
Ow.
So now I’m up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m off today, so the usual cleaning will occur.
Buddy looks like a happy cat, Bob-B

When Sandburg wrote that ‘fog comes in on little cat feet’ he sure wasn’t talking about Adam,
Or Spot.
And I hope the crisises slow up on you at some point.

Russians with bodyguards,
If they invite you to have tea by the balcony window, politely decline.
My youngest and his daughters are supposed to make it over today. It will be good to see them. Short notice, so beanie weenies followed by ice cream is the order of the day.
For some reason, his text messages are not showing up on my phone. Add that to the fact that all my daughter’s calls are shunted to the corn field and it may be time to switch carriers. Shakes fist at AT&T.
You clean up pretty well J-bats!
You sure have a lot on your plate right now sari. I hope that things get resolved and you can have some chill time soon.
cookie, different carriers work better in some areas. About a mile up the street, there is a subdivision where Verizon is about the only one that works well. Sis in Houston is just about to dump T-Mobile because there are dead spots in her own home. On my end of the street, most of the big carriers work well though.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do meal prep for the week. We got about 3 drops of rain last night. I put off watering my plants because we were supposed to get more, so I watered this morning. Tomorrow, it’s back to the salt mines at waaaaaaay TF too early.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
nellie, how’s that leg today?
Cookie, have a terrific spontaneous visit!
I’m at Sea-Tac having pho for breakfast courtesy of my Priority Pass. It’s only okay, but it’s free!
While in Michigan I was chair of our worship committee and had to lead a couple of services when we were between pastors. People were nice about the sermons I wrote. probably because they were so glad they didn’t have to do it.
Whoa, look at the jalapenos in that bowl!
