(Old) The first day of school in the MMP

An action shot from today:

I cleaned, laundered, took out the recycling and trash, and napped. Spot and I just had Screaming Time, now I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned while the poke loin cooks.

From what you described of your current location, you might be able to find 180+ people who need to get out of town right now.

: fingers crossed : (nice you get to do the measuring at least)

Happy Gotcha Day Monkey!

I had that when I lived in Da Hood. Which was built in the (19)40s, so I guess that was a thing back in the day.

Safe travels, susan!

Happy Sunday!

Happy Belated Birthday, Nettie!

Happy Gotcha Day Monkey!

It’s been a lazy, sleepy day.
Not much is going to get done and I don’t care.

I’ve had two non-intentional naps.
The nice thing about falling asleep in my chair is that my knees don’t bother me and I sleep pretty deep. The bad thing is my legs aren’t elevated and my legs swell a little from the knees down.

I’m sorry your Hubbie isn’t doing so well CatGlove, and about the vacation woes.

My grandmother’s fridge was pink. After my grandfather died, my father put it behind the bar in the ‘club cellar’. It had a tiny freezer in it, I think maybe big enough for two ice cube trays.
My first appliances were Harvest Gold.
I have seen bathroom fixtures in both pink and turquoise.
I do not like tile countertops.

I never ever use the stairs without holding on to the railing. I’d like there to be a railing on both sides.
One of my friends gets upset that I seldom go to her house anymore.
It’s because of the lack of railings. There are three concrete steps up to her front door, the steps are just slightly higher than normal, and there is no railing. She finally got steps to her side door. She used to have ramps there, the kind you drive your car on so you can work under it. At least the side door was inside the fenced yard so I didn’t have to try to hang onto the dogs while walking up the ramp.

Cool pic, FCM

The yard looks nice Wheelie

I looked up Guyana, Pilot.
Funny thing, a travel advisory said you should go somewhere else, yet another said it is safe for women to travel solo.
From your description, I think I’d pass.

Vroom, I am going to suggest to my friend that she restart her phone. A lot of times we can’t hear each other when we talk. Then again, my phone can’t connect to the internet at her house. She’s only a couple of miles away, and both of us have AT&T. It couldn’t hurt to try that, and it might help.
Good luck with the job.

Yes, Swampy, the GR are getting big. They will be 5 months old tomorrow and they are just about the height Ripple was as an adult.
I think their tails are finally set in position, so now it’s easier to tell them apart from the rear. Misiu has a money tail that hangs to the right (so does Echo), and Rayleigh has a sickle tail that hangs to the left (so did Ripple).
tails

I know I missed a lot, but it is almost 11 and I need to get up early for the procedure tomorrow.
I am dreading it, but I know it needs to be done.

Awwwww!!!

I don’t want to be that sport fanatic, but yoga really is for young people who can roll around on the ground and hold a pose for minutes on end. TC is slow motion stretches that helps with joints and balance.

Happy belated Birthday Nettie. You live with a couple of good looking men!

No. You are allowed to have your same number no matter where you live in the US. If you have to get a different carrier, they will “port” your number to your new service with no charge.

I hope your knee is doing well today, nellie.

I am as well, I hope his treatments work.

Our first place was a 1970’s trailer and came complete with avocado appliances and carpet. MIL’s place had a pink and blue tiled bathroom. It was very cute and I’m really glad it wasn’t mine.

I really liked our tiled kitchen…until the first time I dropped a heavy pot and cracked a tile. I hated it from then on.

Yesterday I woke up feeling super crabby, so I stayed in bed with the door closed all day. When I was making my coffee I warned hubs that I hated everything so he left me alone to sulk. At one point VBC wanted in, but then GG had to come in and he wanted to play and pounce so they got kicked out as well.

I went to sleep around 8 and slept until after 11 today. I’m no longer crabby, but I’m still tired and have no energy, so I’m guessing I caught some sort of bug. I’ve been kissing up to VBC so hopefully she will bring me a sock monkey tonight.

She used to bring me a large sock monkey and a knit javelina every day. Now that she can come into our bedroom, she brings them to me at night and then again during the day while I’m in the back room. Today she has only brought me the piggy because I was so rude about it yesterday.

My children get McDs as a treat so I’m setting them up for a lifetime of poor relationships with food, I’m sure. Well, another parenting failure!!

My daughter loves McD’s corn soup, something that Japan doesn’t seem to have. The first thing she wanted in Taiwan to was get some of that porridge.

Speaking of good customer service, while I was in the States I went about calling my credit union in Utah to get online again with them as well as to get a new cash card.

I had registered my Taiwan cell phone, which no longer is in existence and it winds up that I needed that in order to do anything.

Several hours of back and forth with some very, very understanding and professional customer agents later, I was able to get online, then was able to register my new Japan number and address.

Part of the process involved sending them a copy of my passport (ever try to take photos of one of those? they are designed to not be easy to copy) and then have a Zoom call with me and the passport.

They apologized for all the hoops, but as I told them repeatedly, I really didn’t mind spending a day doing that, if it meant that someone else couldn’t impersonate me in 15 minutes and get my money.

I don’t have a lot of money in the account, but it’s better than abandoning it.

The kids are back in sailing again, and went yesterday. All that lifting boats reminded me I have a hernia which needs to be checked out. Lots to do.

A second grade girl died from heat exhaustion in a local school after PE. It’s unusually hot here and they weren’t careful enough. The poor parents. I just can’t imagine what they are going through now.

Well, having lost Pooh-chan as a baby, I have a glimpse, I think, but I’m sure it must be that much worse.

You know what also lies? DTE. I really don’t know exactly what this stands for other than D is Detroit and E is likely Electricity but they’re the ones who have to fix the problem when the power is out. Well apparently they have been telling the owner of the vrbo that we were supposed to go to today that the power would be back on no later than this evening. Well it’s 11:20pm and nyet. So, when the owner called me at 5:30 and said it wasn’t on at that time, I said to call me in the morning and if it’s on, we’ll come. He said he’d refund tonight’s amount.

So, just about everything is packed except the food in the refrigerator, although nothing is in the car yet.

I’m glad that I went and swam at least a 600 today. I didn’t swim farther because I was hopeful that the power would be back on and I didn’t want to waste time. MetalMouse you’re my role model and keep me motivated to keep up with the swimming.

pilot were you at least enjoying the music from the reggae party?

sari best wishes for the procedure going smoothly

JtC you are converting me to want to find a TC class nearby.

So far so good with Hubs. His cramps have abated but he is quite gunshy and is sticking to the liquidish diet. I have made 4 boxes of jello for him so far and bought a beef broth, chicken broth, split pea soup, butternut squash soup and portobello mushroom creamy soup. He’s also been drinking a lot of Boost.

Detroit’s Trashy Electric

I only started taking it to support a friend. My plan was to take a few classes and then find other things to do. That was almost a year ago and now I’m trying to recruit anyone I can! It is a little woo, but so is yoga and I used to be a Catholic. I know how to ignore the woo stuff while enjoying the good stuff!

That poor man, I’m so sorry for both of you. I don’t pray at church, I talk to God at home and you folks are always in my prayers.

Our last house (which we rented and therefore couldn’t change) had a pink master bath. Pink sink, pink toilet, pink floor, pink tile shower, and pink tile countertop, which was indeed a pain to keep clean. Our new house has no pink in it.

Tough to keep up with this chatty bunch, but I’ve caught up and read everything.

My big news is that <<TMI Alert!!>> I woke up yesterday with a nasty painful hemorrhoid. Prep H hasn’t helped much. Vodka has.

I suppose I should share some photos of the completed landscaping, in case anyone cares. I don’t have a “before” photo, but picture a pile of dirt similar to the neighbor’s yard to the right.

See y’all in the next MMP!

The “fun” tonight was that the only “stuck” order (meaning someone called in something and never picks it up … we cook food that sits around & then has to be thrown away at the end of the night) anyway the customer’s name was the same as my late husband’s.

So just before close I got to hear my manager and my other coworker - totally innocently - calling out, “Yanno, I don’t think {name} is coming back tonight!” “Who?” “{ Name }!” “Oh, yeah, no, { name } ain’t showin’ up tonight!” and that … uh, sucked.

Doesn’t that sting a bit?

(Wrong end, I suppose.)

I never went that route myself because cystic acne (specifically, painful hidradenitis suppurativa) seemed like it might want to take advantage of the situation.
