(Old) The spooooookiest MMP

Well, I survived. Refereed at 9:00am, drove over to another field and coached at 11:00am (we lost 0-2), then refereed again at 12:30pm, coached (and was an assistant referee since they were short) at 3:00pm (we won 5-0), then drove over to the other field to monitor a youth referee at 4:30pm (he did great) and then drove back to the other other field to assistant referee a 5:45pm game. So finally got home about 7:15pm and have been eating and hydrating since then, calorie count be damned. And tomorrow I do three more games, at least these don’t start until 11:45am, so no setting the alarm clock. That said, the games went well, they were fairly competitive but had no problems with the coaches or players (the weather could have stood being 10F warmer, but I was well-layered) and everything seemed to go more or less to plan. So of course there is a 50-50 chance of rain tonight and into tomorrow, just to make things difficult…

So there are 50 messages since I last fully responded and there is no way in heck I’m going to get to them all, so let me scan through and reply as the mood strikes me…

Shoe, thanks for the pic, you look like a pair of sisters, or at least cousins, in that photo.

It does tend to make the surface feel harder, we had several players ‘eat a soccer ball’ in the face and had to stop the game to let them recover. It did make it to 60F by the afternoon.

swampy, I though about giving them the candy, but the parents might have killed me, so I did not bring it. There are a couple options for donating it that I’m looking at.

FCM, of course she is, got my monsters mixed up. Either way she was a cutie.

:musical_notes: I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the Saints; the sinner have much more fun". :musical_notes:

Someday I will find Callahan’s place, but until then, the MMP will do just fine..

Nut, that stuff just loved living in your residence, it doesn’t want to go away…

Taters, happy Monday Mushrooming.

Pavo, great pics of the felines. And by tags, you mean the actual put-on-car-plates or the stick-on tags that show your legal for the year? Or something else this fuzzy brain ain’t braining?

JtC, think I heard that Fedex/UPS story before, after all W. Virginians are famous for feuds (see Hatfield-McCoy).

Interesting point, I will have to check it in the morning and see if all the new-fangled modern stuff also includes resetting the clock.

And that’s all the energy I have left. Probably will go watch the end of the baseball game, looks like it will be an exciting one, then off to Slumberland. Take care all.

Oh you did, you heard it from me. I just wasn’t sure if Bright Tree had heard it and it was too funny to not share again.

Speaking of the Hatfields, I’m planning on visiting the distillery next week. Several folks on my list will be getting Tiramisu shine, so if anyone here has something they would like - say so now. I like to get my stuff mailed out by the middle of this month.

That many kids for that long is amazing. You are such a good person, you touch so many lives.

The stickers. Plates are still there. I have no idea how long I’ve been stickerless. Plates I would have noticed…

State wrecks Georgia Tech 48-36.

I haz a very happy. Girls who read & learn things are wonderful.

With a certain blonde?

She … ah, nailed that dance, for one.

I’m okay with an hour’s difference tooo. When the battery is disconnected, I leave whoever is working on it reset the clock.

Both of the ones requiring manual reset will wait until tomorrow here too.

ISWYDT.

I noticed that the nutrition information on the back of my frozen pizza box breaks things down into five servings.

How the fuck do you cut a pizza into five slices?

We don’t change time in Saskaland.

But my Honda had the day off by about eight months all the time, due to a software glitch that Honda says would cost them too much to fix is impossible to fix.

SSR, good for you for all that refereeing. It’s your gift to the yoots!

Purple, good luck with the Halloween look, a day late.

And now I’m falling asleep.

I see the Cornhuskers and Dawgs won, and the Badgers have a bye.
[/quote]j

We must have watched different games. My Cornhuskers lost at home to USC, 21-17, so at least it wasn’t humiliating.

Normally when we go to the garage, if they disconnect the battery, they reset everything back to English and the correct time. Different person last time, so when we changed the time we decided to change it to English (from German) and then the time. Except hubby changed the time and then changed it from daylight savings to standard, so had to change the time again. I think it took him about 3 rounds before getting everything correct.

Nice cards :star_struck: Years ago I sent a round post card to my friend. When she took it out of the mail box, the wind caught it and set it rolling down the path. I should keep an eye on for round postcards and send her another one.

Probably will. We bought our car just on the cusp of the changeover to back-up cameras and naviagational systems as standard options. So our car has the time twice. Once is part of the car system, the one that tells us the revs, tire status, etc. This is the one we have to change. The other one is with the navigational system. This one changes automatically. It’s silly, but we’re buying a new car just for that.

It was rainy last night and I slept almost 8 hours without needing to use the facility. Still raining, so this morning will be blueberry cake, chocolate chip pecan oatmeal cookies and then mock manicotti (roll up no boil lasagna noodles instead of stuffing shells) and maybe lemon olive oil cookies, depending on my level of energy.

And I need to clean the sinks. And make plans for our upcoming vacation. Guess I should get a move on. After I finish my latte.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 40 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 70 and cloudy. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization followed by first Sunday brunch. Today is also All Saints Sunday and the kick off of the pledge campaign. Plus two baptisms so ‘twill be a biiiiig service. Hopefully all the acolytes will be vested and ready at nine-fifteen so we can have a final walk through of who does what. I am the official herder of acolytes today. I may have to take to the bed when I get back to da cave.

BBBOO sorry your ‘Huskers lost. My DAWGS had a little luck on their side fortunately.

doggio yay for your Pack. It’s a perfect day when my Dawgs win and the NATS lose.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Morning cleaning, early afternoon handegg, and late afternoon swords and ships Youtubes are on the agenda. Spot watched me make the bed and didn’t interfer. He may have been replaced by a Pod Cad during the night.
October 31st:

November 1st:

Must have looked at an old page. Still, Wolfpack win!

If you think that’s bad, think about the poor staff at Stonehenge having to set that twice a year.

Just cut it every 72°! How hard is that??

Woke to 39° and the week looks to be highs in the 60s/lows in the 40s. Today for sure is tidy the shop day. FCD just went out to fire up his pellet stove. Depending on how long that takes and how achy I am, I may do a little stuff in my garden. So mostly a chill day.

I was looking at the Panama Canal cruise I’d like to take in Jan 2027 but I’m waffling. FCD can’t walk much and I don’t want to spend the entire time on the ship, nor do I want to leave him and take excursions alone. He refuses to seek medical opinions/help for his legs and I’m tired of saying anything about it. So I dunno. If I book it, I risk a $400 non-refundable deposit. So still thinking on it.

First world problems, I know.

Happy Sunday!!

We won last week against Northwestern, let’s just think about that one since it made us bowl eligible.

Happy the Dawgs and Wolfpack won.

36F this morning. We managed to stay up later last night so the time change wouldn’t be as annoying. Changed all the necessary clocks.

Breakfast will be a bagel with salmon cream cheese and scramble on the side. Daughter and niece arrive later.

Obligatory Sadie photo:

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with a predicted high of 11c/51f and showers. Weather app says “It’s fucking raining. Good new if you’re a fucking duck.” Except it’s not raining here, it’s all bright and shiny outside.

I did enjoy my soaky bath, and the weekend has been pretty good so far. I didn’t have much to do, and haven’t done much

flyboy what an absolute mess for something that should be so simple. I hope you manage to get them all straightened out!

Fabulous! I’ve seen Maiden many times, they put on a fantastic show and after all these years, they’re still as good as they were at the start.

Yay for the good news, that really is something to be excited about. I’m sorry to hear about the kitty, kind of hope it wasn’t Brian but it’s still sad.

He’s good on the cups of tea thing, but I’ve heard him singing to the cats at 3am and I’m not so sure that would make me feel any better!

Thanks for the link - they are cuties!

I’m glad the soccer stuff went well! I missed the MMP yesterday, busy doing stuff and didn’t sit upstairs with the laptop on, so there were over 100 when I logged in earlier.

I’ve had a very relaxed (for me!) weekend. I didn’t do much on Friday evening as ‘im indoors was cooking, we watched a film and I was in bed at a reasonable time. I’d already decided not to attempt the gym on Saturday so I had a lie-in, then took myself into town to do a couple of errands.

I parked at the little retail park (2hrs free parking) because that’s where the pet store in, and I needed some food for Muffin. From there, it’s a short walk into town. I picked up a sparkly birthday card for a friend - she’s having a big birthday party next weekend so we are off to Yorkshire for that, and did a couple of other necessities.

On my way back to the car, I popped into the Rustic Food Shop for a loaf of fresh sourdough bread. I usually buy Baker Street rye bread from the supermarket, and they used to have sourdough rolls too but those have disappeared. My local supermarket does stock Jason’s sourdough bread but only full-sized loaves which are too much for me. Anyway, the Rustic Shop had small loaves of thick-sliced bread which was perfect. Came home from my errands and have a delicious sandwich for lunch.

I was brave and ironed a pile of t-shirts in the afternoon, and made chilli for dinner. Then we plonked ourselves on the sofa to watch Spinal Tap II with an evening tipple. Today is a lazy day for me, I have nothing to do apart from tend to the needs of cats, and make myself something yummy for lunch involving more sourdough bread. ‘im indoors is cooking tonight, so it’ll be Chinese chicken curry and egg-fried rice. My afternoon will involve the sofa and a book, and copious quantities of tea.

Morning all. My wall clocks are still showing 9:17am as I type this, will get them down and change them when I finish this message then all the time switches should have been made. Actually feeling pretty good, guess all that gym time is paying off, years ago when I tried things like refereeing four games, t I could barely move the next day. Have three soccer games to referee today, 11:45, 12:45, and 2:15, so my usual Sunday dinner plans will be uprooted, I will have a Big Bowl O’Sallit around 10:30 or so and that should hold me until soccer is done and I’ve had time to change to my good clothes for a trip to the Longhorn Steakhouse. It’s rainy and cloudy and about 46F heading to 54F for the high, so not a day for shorts and I will once again be bundled up underneath the refereeing uniform. At least all the other games are filled so I will not feel pressed to do more than I signed up for.

Pavo, I seldom notice either stickers although I do have the correct ones on the plates, I often look at the plate just to confirm I have the right vehicle (even with a new car I almost tried to get in a similar-looking car yesterday…).

Well, nobody’s perfect…

swampy, sounds like a triple-header at church today.

FCM, took a Panama Canal trip year before last, it is fun and going through the canal is a highlight, but there are some nice tours and being stuck on the ship…your call.

cookie, nice pic, I will never stop being amazed at how cats can roll themselves up like that to sleep.

boo fae, lazy days are not bad things, helps get you ready for the maddening ones.

And that’s all for now, need to get the little step-ladder out and get those big clocks changed.

Shop is tidied, more or less. I’m about to start disassembling the mast. We’ll see how much blood that causes. Me and tools can be a crapshoot.

I somehow wound up with two Sony ICF-C318 clocks; a white one, and a black one. They’re supposed to reset during time changes automatically. The black one next to the bed did, but the white one on the other side of the room didn’t. I couldn’t remember how to set the time, so I had to bring the white one out into the living room and look up the manual. The times on the computers and the time display on the cable box reset automatically. I set the clocks on the coffee maker, the stove, and the microwave oven in the kitchen; and the nixie clock in the living room. Eventually, I’ll get to my watches.

Get our your compass? 72 degrees and there you are.

Beautiful powder puff! (long haired cats always remind me of that when they curl up)

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The clocks are changed and, like BooFae, not much is planned for the day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
