Old time toy - what's it called?

I grew up in the 60’s and we had these toys and I can’t think of the name of them.

You held them in your hands, about 4, 5 inches tall. It had a figure of an animal or person or something on top and the arms, legs, head, etc were connected by string. On the bottom when you pushed it in it would bend depending on where you pushed it on the bottom. So depending on where and how hard you pushed from the bottom you could make it move and dance and whatever.

Anyone know the name, if it had one?

You can still get them at places like “The Nature Company” store.

The one I have in my office (I think it is some kind of mutant dog) does not have any brand name.

According to Time Warp Toys, they’re called “push puppets.”

And, they’re collectible. Ooooo…
