(Old) Toss it on the grill in the MMP

Thank you both, but Harry’s raven was the star of the show. Harry was down in the gulch were nobody would have seen him if not for the noisy bird throwing a fit.

We are hearing that Harry had a stroke, but is awake and worried about his mower. Everyone is hopeful that he will be home shortly.

Yaay Jane & Harry the raven.

Had a pleasant overnight last night with GF then we went our separate ways after a lazy breakfast.

Nearly bedtime here now after a rainy afternoon & evening.

Tomorrow should be … challenging.

Up early and out to get a blood draw for my well baby visit next week. Then breakfast and home. Will spend all afternoon getting my lower teeth ground down and temporary crowns installed. So a couple hours of tiresome experience followed by soreness. Won’t have time to blather in the morning, there’s tomorrows post today.

Cheers all!!

I’m betting before Harry is home the community will have righted his mower, finished the mowing, refilled the gas tank, washed, waxed and buffed it and parked it back where it goes.

That’s a sucker bet if I’ve ever heard one!

The mower was handled almost as gently as Harry was.

I can see their place from our bedroom window and every room is lit up and there were six vehicles in the drive last I looked. The kids are showing up.

I highly recommend Versed for those sort of dealings. It’s kinda like smoking really good weed, you know you are hurting, but you really don’t care enough to bitch.

I planned to post with a lot of relies, but shortly after Max left, I got sick with flu-like symptoms. It’s not even flu season! I’m out of Covid tests, but I haven’t peopled much, so…

I’ll post tomorrow. So much to say!

ETA because I WILL forget: Oopsie, did you know you can get uncrustable makers on Amazon?

NOOOO!!!

It’s always flu season, all of that sort of sneaky shit is always out there waiting for your immune system to look the other way for half a second. I do hope you don’t have Covid, it didn’t look like a whole lot of fun when Hubs had it.

I napped. I dreamed I had a pet tiger, lion, and cheetah. Why would I want a pet that might attack and try to kill me at any time? < looks over at Spot > But it’s cheeseburger night, with Munster, caramelized onion, and 'shrooms. and an Old Fashioned.

{{{{Harry and Wife}}}}
And yay Raven!

That’s for Lent.

{{{{nellie}}}}

And bringing up the rear is a whole bunch of good karma and healing vibes winging its way to Harry and family from a holler in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The most crown preps and temporary crowns I’ve done in one sitting is three, so good karma and strong healing vibes are winging their way to you too. Yikes!! It’ll be Tuesday, right? Go on a Taco Tuesday happy hour tour of margaritas. Spring for the top shelf tequilas-hell, skip the lime juice and sip them straight up until you forget you have teeth.{{{{{{{{ to you too }}}}}}}}

And a good evening all. Spent my gym time sweating, did get some weight work done on my own, so that is promising, and then used a Dairy Queen gift card to get a Cheeseburger and some fries (they are pretty good at it, given that they are know for ice cream and milkshakes). So belly refilled I have spent the evening in sloth mode. Will be heading off to bed shortly as that 6am wakeup means are early turn-in time tonight.

Cookie, know what you mean, while they were building the service road two houses down from me there was a steady background noise that took some time to adjust too.

lily, did something like that about 5 years ago, may due a limited repeat in 3-4 years before I sell the house.

FCM, I am a terrible shipboard roommate, hardly ever put my stuff away and the bags just take up space next to my bed, Will try to do better this time around.

Pavo, nice picture, I have a friend that lives out around Colorado Springs and his night camera catches all kinds of animals. Hope you get a repeat visit from BBNC.

I had to look them up, had never heard of Krimpets before; they look pretty tasty, but when I put it in the Kroger search I get a lot of Little Debbie products. Wal-Mart looks like they have them, though, so might have to do some exploring…and hopefully everyone will be healthy for the belated birthday bash.

52, my best wishes to your sister and may she have a wonderful wedding.

VanGo, nice that your parents enjoyed the museum time with you…and provided some backup to your concerns,

Quite possible. I also am finding that I have a major need after sitting for awhile or if I have water running nearby. Old bladder is cranky…

JtC, scary moment for Harry! Glad you and Hubs were there to help out, and nice to know folks rally round when someone needs help. And the raven certainly earned his keep today! Unlike GG, whose misadventures could make a pretty good sitcom…

Sticky Buns, examine that remote teaching job carefully, but if it checks out I’d say go for it!

swampy, 96 hot dogs eaten…so you had about 10-12 kids there?

Pilot, does not sound like a very fun day tomorrow; just lie back and think of England…

{{nellie}}, take care of yourself first and foremost, we’ll be here to talk with anytime.

And getting close to 10pm so off to bed I go for some readin’ and then sleepage. Take care all and see you on 2sDay.

Bobby Bobbi Norman Clover is back!

We were out for an evening walk and a deer dashed across the road just before we got home. Maybe mom dropping baby off again.

They both a safe berth when they see it.

I hope that Harry makes a full recovery.

Your visitor is adorable, pavo!

I just realized that if I have corn as a side dish, either on the cob or as niblets, it doesn’t feel like it counts as a serving of vegetables, even though by most objective standards it is. I don’t think that I have this mindset about any other vegetable, and I’m not sure why. Is it because it’s so sweet? I actually don’t have much idea.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Another day of insanity and technical failures awaits!

“Does this clover make my butt look big?” - Bobby

Perhaps because it exits in recognizable form?

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/56f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and with showers. Weather app says “Well, fuck a doodle doo. It’s fucking raining.” Yes, it is, and I had to close the windows because the wind’s blowing the rain right at me.

We have one because our idiot neighbour leaves the German Shepherd outside all the time and she barks like crazy at everything, non-stop. The silencer isn’t on all the time, but there are days when it sits on the landing windowsill for several hours just so that I have quiet to work.

lily that is an impressive list of work you’ve already got through, I hope the roof and painting go according to plan.

How lovely! I’m glad mum came back regularly to check on the little one, must have been good to see them.

Oopsie I’m sorry to hear that your BFF’s birthday plans got cancelled but hopefully you can postpone the celebrations for another day. Hope you managed to give your poorly toe some rest!

It started out as “her indoors”, meaning the wife. The expression has been around for years, started from a comedy show and ended up being used just about everywhere. Since I live with a bloke, he gets referred to as 'im indoors instead.

That’s a very well-trained raven, knowing how to get your attention. I hope Harry is ok, I’m so glad you were there to get him the help he needed.

Fingers and paws crossed for you - that sounds like an excellent solution that helps you and your mum.

I hope all goes well and the toothy experience is not too horrible.

Yesterday I worked a little longer than expected just because I was in the middle of a job and it made more sense to finish it. Afterwards, I fed the cats and cleaned the litter trays, then collected up the rubbish for the bin. I had dinner and washed the dishes, then went out to haul the biiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection. The binmen have been unpredictable lately so bins need to be out early as the dustcart has been round before 7am some days, and other days it’s close to midday.

This morning I had an unexpected chore added to my morning list. After cleaning litter trays, feeding cats and refreshing water bowls, I had to get a chair from downstairs and re-hang one of the curtains in the room where I work. Seems like Muffin has taken up climbing as a new hobby.

I did that, put the chair back where it lives, and then had some oatmeal for breakfast as it’s cool and dreary today so perfect weather for it. Today’s plan is to log out of work on time, make campus food and contemplate what to make for dinner, and also wrap a friend’s birthday gifts as I’ll be seeing her tomorrow. Other than that, it’s the usual tedium for me.

Every time I read about VBS, the same old song goes through my head:
Vacation Bible School
Lives in our hearts!
Vacation Bible School
From our lives it never will depart!
We learn the golden rule
And of God’s love…

And so on.

What are the options??

I guess it’s a good(?) day for dentist appointments? Mine is coming up at 10. I hope that yours goes well, pilot.

This morning my mom is upset and worried. She just read an article about anti-Semitic attacks. She’s horribly afraid that someone will find out that we are Jewish. I get it, but I also feel like maybe she should skip the bad news when it’s something that bad.

Ok, back to the job search.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 90 and sunny. Lovely weather IMO. Today is laundry day. I can hardly contain myself. Plus day two of VBS this evenin’. I did accomplish mowage yestiddy mornin’. I am really puttin’ my RDOS cred in jeopardy this week.

JtC so glad the raven, hubs and your were there for Harry. Hope his recovery goes well and that he is home soonest.

MetalMouse that was plenty of dawgs for young’uns. 96 dawgs would have been the appetizer for ten teenage boys.

Pavo how cool is it that mama feels your place is a safe place to leave BBNC!

Sticky_Buns and Pilot hope things go well at the dentist.

doggio true gruel is more for Lent. Maybe I should have suggested Vienna snausages, Velveeta slices and saltines.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

While I never attended (there was no such thing for Catholic kids in the 60s) I never heard of it being done in the evenings. Around here (and where we lived in FL) it was always a day camp sorta thing. Why evenings?

So, do you know anyone on this year’s list: The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season names are: Andrea, Barry, Chantal, Dexter, Erin, Fernand, Gabrielle, Humberto, Imelda, Jerry, Karen, Lorenzo, Melissa, Nestor, Olga, Pablo, Rebekah, Sebastien, Tanya, Van, and Wendy. Waaaaay back in 1979, I took a meteorology class as a filler. That year, there was a Hurricane David and Frederick. The class was taught by Fred and the TA was named David. Coincidence? I think not! There was a Hurricane Michelle in 2001 which resulted in a lot of clipped out newspaper headlines left on my desk at work.

The only plan I have today is a run to Aldi for apples. I got some at Food Lion but they weren’t as good as the ones I get at Aldi. My evening snack is a sliced apple with some peanut butter. Not as good as a handful of cookies, but satisfying in its own way. FWIW, I’m down 15#, so apples instead of cookies is doing some good. We’ll see how much more I can lose before we leave in 3 weeks.

Theoretically, we’ll see low 80s today. Lately, we don’t seem to reach the forecast highs, but maybe today will break the trend. And that’s all the exciting news for this morning.

Happy Tuesday!!

Good morning all. Up at 0630 thanks to the bladder alarm, have murdered breakfast (yes, I was a cereal killer…) and double-checked my TSA Pre-Check to make sure it is till valid (yep, good to April 2026). Nothing much on the agenda, do need to do some preventive maintenance on my hearing aids (change the pads/ear protectors) but that is about it. Also need to do like FCM and get my list of vacation stuff together, I won’t be gone as long as she and FCD (only 2 weeks) but being overseas need to have everything I need packed.

Temperatures are heading back to the 80’sF, so staying comfortable will be my major task.

Pavo, glad you have a safe haven for the little one. Hope Mom doesn’t have an accident.

boo fae, that dog needs training and/or counseling, the barking is a sign…or so I have heard…and at least Muffin is taking more of an interest in her surroundings…even if that is giving you and the curtains a certain amount of stress.

swampy, truth on teenagers, enjoy the catering today.

FCM, yeah, all I remember from my Cat-Lick upbringing was the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) classes (since I didn’t attend the Catholic school). And don’t know anyone off the top of my head with those hurricane names.

And all the Cheerios have been eaten so onward into the day. Have a good one all.

It was a dark and stormy morning. . .

A steady downpour this AM, but at least it’s much cooler and the deer will be less dusty. Our water shutoff was last night rather than Sunday night, so our pressure is low this morning and there won’t be hot water until at least late afternoon. No probs.

Trying to decide between French toast and oatmeal. I’m feeling lazy, so probably the latter. That’s the only decision for the day, as there is zero happening here.

Helpful hint for seniors. Buy yourself a collapsible hand cart like this one. I bought mine years ago and it’s really helpful when, like yesterday, I received my Chewy order of cat litter and wet food. The litter alone weighed 40 pounds. Collapsed, the cart takes up almost no space. Prevent your hernias NOW!
