(Old) Turning up the heat in the MMP

{{{Sensei}}}

Happy belated birthday, Nellie!

Shoe, I just don’t know what to say about that choice of food… Free food is free food, I guess?

And the craft show was a complete bust. My profits were -$19. First of all it’s fair week and second she didn’t really advertise other than on FB. The possible good news is that she’s decided to try a Christmas show and we’re all invited back for free. I thought that was very nice/admirable of her to own up to her mistakes. Not sure if I’ll show up in December or not, though.

In other news, since MusicMan’s fall at work awhile back he’s had problems with pain in his arm and shoulder. Part of the issue is that his living room chair is not very comfortable. He’s been talking about getting a recliner or something and after seeing him in so much pain yesterday, I decided it was time to do it. We ended up at Ashley Furniture and got a very good price on a clearance dual recliner loveseat. The only catch is that they don’t deliver clearance items, so we have to call the local moving company to get it here.

He wants to keep his other chair - God knows why - and so now I have to figure out how to rearrange the living room so that everything fits or figure out other places in the house to put the other furniture. There’s currently an antique chair that was my grandmother’s in the living room so obviously it will not be gotten rid of as well as an antique loveseat that I’ve had for many years that I don’t want to see go anywhere either. Oh, and a small bookcase that belonged to my other grandmother. In summary, lots of furniture to be seen and not a lot of space leftover.

But, of course, I won’t start my rearranging and plotting until MusicMan is conspicuously absent.

Meanwhile soon today I’ll be back to IEPapalooza. Yay!

I forgot. The best part of the show was that we met a lovely woman who wants to learn some of the types of crafts that I do. I’ve exchanged contact information and I expect we’ll start talking about crafts soon. She was, in fact, my only customer as well and she bought one of the semicolon necklaces - seems like a good sign.

I don’t know what was with Ziva overnight, but she woke me around 2 and again around 4 with loud meowing. Idiot cat! I couldn’t fall back to sleep after the second waking, dammit. But I did hear the early rain, so there’s that, I guess.

I’ll be helping FCD again today. The more we can do ourselves on the boat, the less we have to pay for. And that’s always good. My only other chore (which I neglected yesterday) is cleaning the critter fountain. That takes all of 15 minutes or so, depending on how icky it’s become in the last 2 weeks.

And theoretically, I’m getting a delivery of yarn today so I can finish my last 2 lap blankets. It’s weird watching TV with idle hands! Speaking of watching, I remembered that the library has DVDs, so I’ll mosey over there and see what they’ve got.

So much for today’s excitement. Happy Sunday!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Morning cleaning and afternoon handegg and sloth are on the agenda.
Spot is currently using my Kindle as a couch cushion

Glad some good came of it. Because you can never have too many people forking around.

The Invisible Mole People were assaulting the house.

We are still getting local ripe tomatoes, which are great. But for this, it’s just used commercial canned and peeled Italian tomatoes (Cento) and crushed them in the pot

That’s “Ambassador Asshole” to you.

:birthday_cake: :bottle_with_popping_cork: Happy birthday, Oopsie! :birthday_cake: :bottle_with_popping_cork:

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 13c/55f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a good fucking day to go mudding.” Not for me, thank you.

I wish you luck, but it’s definitely not a good time to be looking around. Will keep our fingers and paws crossed that there’s less bullshittery this time round.

I think so! But before you settle down, can you tell me where Maccies is?

It kind of looks like it should be! But good Mexican is always a bonus.

I’ve never had a pedicure, but that does sound divine!

One of my mum’s favourite things was going to new build developments and having a nose around the “show house”. We used to go together and spend our time criticising everything!

They just don’t  I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Cavalry Blacks using them, and it certainly would have spoiled that perfectly-timed poo right in front of the Dollar Tree Dictator

Sticky Buns sorry to hear the craft thing wasn’t worth the time and effort, but yay for making contact with someone who’s interested in what you do!

Yesterday ended up being a bit mixed. Gym and errands were done, lunch out was had, and our evening plans went smoothly. Cocktails and a couple of films at home were the order of the night. Today I appear to have developed a raging ear infection! How did that happen?

Fortunately, I have an unopened and in-date pack of antibiotics so I started those this morning. I got them from the dentist after I had an accident and bruised a tooth. It was just before we were off to Alicante for xmas, and she said flights could aggravate the problem and gave me precautionary antibiotics. They weren’t needed, but today they are. So now I am hoping that the infection does a runner pretty soon, because it’s the last thing I need right now. It’s interrupting my plans for slothage!

Happy OOOPSIE Day!!

Right next to Burger King, of course!

I had one once and it was awful. OK. partly because my calves and shins hurt when being massaged (no clue why) and partly because the polish I chose was apparently old and it never quite dried so it stuck to the inside of my socks. Of course, I’m just one data point.

FCD has headed back to the boat. He said he didn’t need my help but if I wanted to keep him company… He’s my sweetie, but standing around doing noting - literally standing because there’s no place to sit amidst all the miscellany on all the settees - anyway, not my idea of a good time. I will go to CVS for his meds and I’ll get him some more 'nanners, so I won’t be a total slug. But I foresee some video watching at a minimum.

I did get the critter fountain cleaned and I’m making some good ice. Maybe I’ll rollsuck. Who knows??

Good morning, everybody.

It’s 59°F, dark and wet outside. I was worried the rain would not make an overnight appearance, but it did, and it’s lovely. The rain is projected to end around 7:00 a.m., and the rest of the day calls for partly cloudy skies and a daytime high of 71°F.

Happy Birthday, Oopsie! :birthday_cake:

I love pedicures and find them very relaxing. Manicures are kind of a joke (for me), though. I always forget to put on gloves when working with cleansers or out in the yard, so it’s a waste. Besides, my fingernails have always been sort of weak; I keep them short, and, finally, when I have opted for a manicure, the polish always starts just peeling away.

I plan to get a pedicure on Tuesday so I’m ready for the trip.

BooFae, I’m sorry about the ear infection. I hope the antibiotics work.

Metal Mouse, when I was working out regularly at the Y, I was pretty anal about it, too. It got to the point where I was going every day, but I eventually backed it off to every other day.

I had vague plans to visit the Farmer’s Market with my husband yesterday, as it was closing for the year, but my son was coming up, so we didn’t go.

Other than hanging out with my son before he heads home, I don’t know what the day holds. I managed to make our airport shuttle reservations yesterday, so that’s out of the way. He’s not happy about the early pick-up time, but we’re heading north during morning traffic, and it’ll probably take an hour to get to the airport. It’s usually around a 45-minute drive.

Okay, I guess I’ll get that second cup of coffee and look at real estate. Take care!

Morning all. Have arose more or less refreshed and will perform lawn mowage in around an hour (I think 9:30am is late enough not to arouse the ire of my neighbors) and then dine at Logan’s Roadhouse (mmmm..meatloaf) and see what the afternoon brings. What it may bring is rain, there is a 50-50 chance of it for this afternoon and evening and into tomorrow.

Sticky Buns, well, at least you came out ahead (barely). And glad Music Man get a recliner…now to get him to use it… happy furniture tetris…

FCM, happy tool-passing time. Hope the yarn makes it today as scheduled.

doggio, nice shot of Spot, but should a open bottle be that close to him?

boo fae, hope the ear is doing better.

And onward to the Sunday morning You Tubing and then head out to get steps in while mowing the lawn. Have a good Sunday all.

Cataract surgery is painless. It is also life-changing, I’d strongly encourage him to get checked soon.

Have your neighbors mentioned seeing a rave cat in the neighborhood?

Yeah, but they are old and scratched up.

This is the first time in my life that I’ve ever had a good back-up pair and that is only because of the cataract surgery.

If your insurance covers glasses, you can still order them online. You will have to pay full price, but then you can submit the bill to your insurance and wait a few months for a check for 7.39.

Bingo! It’s fairly easy to see that the wiring was done after the house was built instead of during the build.

Wringer. AKA mangler!

Hurray! That could be the reason you were there. I hope it works out and you have a new crafting buddy soon!

I also enjoy “open houses” and have been to many. For decorating ideas, of course!

I hope your ear starts feeling better soon, last time I had an ear infection, it affected my balance.

It’s cold and windy this morning, but is supposed to go up to the high 80’s later today. This evening I want to get out there and clean up my planters. My Dead Hedge is just some sticks pounded into the ground with a few branches between them, so I’m going to use some of the long tomato stems to kinda weave along the sides for extra support.

I’m currently drinking coffee and going through the new real estate listings. There’s a BIG place up north that would be fun to look through, but I don’t know the realtor and don’t know is they would be willing to let me in alone. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time just so I can poke around in a house I have no intention of buying. I guess I’ll give them a call after I’ve got myself around another cup of coffee, but otherwise sloth will be the order of the day.

Have a great Sunday all!

I forgot a detail about our trip yesterday. Mrs. L.A. cracked the window open. What she thought was a bit of tree debris that somehow got up in the corner of the window behind the window fairing, turned out to be an orb weaver. She made sure it stayed safe for the remaining half-hour drive to the lighthouse. When we got there, she got some gloves out of the glovebox and moved the spider into some bushes. This, from someone who used to scream if there was a daddy longlegs in the shower ‘waiting to eat her face’. Anyway, I’m sure the bushes have more things to eat than my car.

Oh, did they rub your calves? That’s my favorite part of a pedicure.

Our lovely Floozy @JaneDoe42 knows best.

Pics, plz. So we can point & laugh.

… preferred them to … what?

{ Monkey has entered the chat room }

Good gawds, he is a cyooooot … PITA.

Yeah, I know. That’s why I vent to y’all and try to keep my :angry_face_with_horns: together at work.

I  you so much for this phrase.

Do you have another room to display your heritage pieces? That would leave room for your functional furniture.

Happy birthday oopsie! :birthday_cake:

Kalamata olives.

I slept in until 0800 this morning. One of the apartments around the courtyard had a big birthday party (they had one the weekend that I moved in too), complete with bounce house (took up half the courtyard) and underage drinkers, who got into a verbal altercation around 2200. I had to wait until things died down to take Nelson out to do his business, so we went to bed later. I guess it’s OK to sleep in to build up RDOS cred. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes!

Dinner and live jazz (guitar and flute) with my friends last night was really nice: I’m glad I thought to ask them, and that they were up for it. The music is always outside, and the weather was perfect. I deliberately only had hummus and lavash for dinner, so I could order dessert: cappucino caramel, caffè mousse, and chocolate sponge, garnished with crème Chantilly (and a teeny tiny piece of gold foil). I’d had it there once before, and I knew I’d want to leave room! I have no plans today, so I’m considering yesterday my birthday celebration: I got to hang out with my nephew and two good friends, eat a lot of good food, and hear some good music. Not too shabby.

This morning I updated a playlist on my iPod (the one I tend to listen to while I’m commuting; there were issues with a few of the files), and assembled the new cart that got delivered:

https://i.ibb.co/Pscz4nvh/PXL-20250921-134429912.jpg

It’s even more perfect than I expected: the monitor and Atari console are at exactly the right heights, and all of the related parts and accessories have natural homes. It’s hard to see in the photo, but there’s a storage bag hanging off the side with hooks and pockets; that’s where the cartridges, instruction booklets, and dongles are. The assembly was blessedly easy, too. I’m super happy with it. The last piece will be the HDMI-to-USB C converter: that delivery window is 3-6pm.

After this post I’ll relocate to the living room for lunch and some TV (or maybe a movie). My only other plans today include some reading, and doing a small load of laundry. I think work will be on the busy side this week, plus I’ll be in the office all five days for the first time (there’s an in-person interview on Friday afternoon), so I’m taking advantage of having a quiet day to mostly just sloth. A nice slow start to 54.

I feel like there’s an implied “if you have to go anywhere” at the end of that.

I got that exact same thing for one of my aunts when she retired last year! :joy:

Nope, never been…it’s on my bucket list, though!

I appreciate your appreciation, but I don’t actually create anything and would never call myself a Lego expert: all I do is follow instructions. Really, it’s paint-by-numbers with small plastic bricks instead of paint. There are many fans who design their own sets and are very creative, I’m simply not one of 'em. Which I’m totally fine with: even “just” following instructions is quite enjoyable/theraputic!

:joy: !

…and, apparently, daring you to try to move it!

Ugh; ear infections are horrible. :crossed_fingers:

I cleaned, dusted, and vacuumed. I cleaned Spot’s box, took out the trash and recycling, refilled the vermin feeder, and threw in a load of clothes. Now I got fishsticks and tater tots(I had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for grade school lunch), and Packers handegg is on.

:champagne:  :birthday_cake:HAPPY BIRTHDAY OOPSIE!!!:birthday_cake:  :champagne:

First the eye, now the ear. Feel better, and maybe looking into getting a new head?

It’s not gin, so it’s OK.

I hope not

“A cat’s sacred duty is to be adorable and annoying at the same time”

This.

I’m not optimistic - it was in Hagerstown, MD at 12:40. It has to go to Upper Marlboro (87 miles) then be sorted and loaded on delivery vehicles to get to me. I ain’t holding my breath. It is FedEx after all…

I’ve made my CVS and 'nanner run. Most of the 'nanners at Food Lion were ripe, which means in 2 or 3 days they’d be mush. FCD prefers a tad bit of green, so I found a few that qualified. I also grabbed a sack o’salad, which will be jazzed up with 'maters, 'shrooms, onion, olives, radishes, whatever I find in the fridge. I’ll make a mini salad bar and we’ll each build our own. The rest of supper will be sketties.

I watched The Big Chill - it was our first date. Hard to believe it came out 42 years ago, until you see the actors today - there it shows. The DVD also had some cut scenes and a documentary by the writer/director on the making of the movie, including commentary by the actors.

I think I’ll scoop the cat box, then figure something else out to occupy some time.

Church was great.
Its 85 out, which I like, but rain will happen tonight and it will cool back to normal..tomorrow I go with my i.d.s to onboard, though shes supposed to send me that online.

We didn’t go today.

I’ve got a lamb shoulder chop marinating in olive oil, crushed garlic, freshly-ground black pepper, & chopped parsley. I got a rib-eye for The Spousal Unit. Two ears of corn have been prepped.

I took the trash and recycling out. Knocked my left hand on the corner as I went into the kitchen. Got a little bloody.

Based on that sentiment alone, Monks and Spot might get along.

… or they’d murder each other while yeeting ALL THE THINGS so … :red_question_mark:

I knocked the back of my left hand on a shelf at Aldi - very bloody. Luckily, I carry bandaids in my purse. It’s quite ugly now.

FCD came home and showered, then we had an early supper because he didn’t eat lunch. The man doesn’t seem to accept that not eating regularly hoses up his blood sugar. Makes me crazy… But we chowed down on rotini with sketty sauce and a side of salad. It’s chillage time.
