(Old) Turning up the heat in the MMP

Happy Tuesday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not a whole lot on the agenda today, just RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Slept in until 8am, guess that soccer game took a little more out of me than I thought it would. Got some paperwork to do this morning and then it’ll be a “we’ll see” day for the bulk of it. Another day near or at 90F and little chance of rain.

Frustrating thing, I reported last week in the MMP that I had burned nearly 10,000 calories last week at the gym so was looking forward to stepping on the scale Moanday…which showed I had gained 1.3lbs since the prior week. Guess I need to eat less bulky foods…

Now see what the night reporters have to report…

The Horror! The Horror!

Mea Culpa, it just never occurred to me, but makes perfect sense once I see it. Hope the painted stitching can find a good home and you can get the stuff you like.

FCM, broke my arms and wrist (not at the same time, thankfully) between 6 and 9 years old and had to wear a plaster cast, so hopefully modern medicine has progressed to less restrictive things for Roxy; but no flipping for the young lady for awhile.

swampy, like Mooooomm, I get automatic refills from Walgreens, but my Doc only prescribes one at a time to I have to see him every six months to get it renewed.

Taters, I’m not a CostCo member and being single don’t usually buy in bulk, but their parking lot is usually full when I drive by, so they apparently know their customer base and how to get money out of them… And as for them telling you to be patient about your hours, I am reminded of the old cartoon of two vultures on a tree and one saying “patience my ass; I’m going to kill something”.

And that’s all for the morning report. Pill I have to take with an empty stomach has reached it’s time limit so a big bowl O’Cereal and an apple are next on my agenda. Have a good 2sDay all.

Well, hell.

So much for going to Charleston with Hubs. The neighbor’s mother came over to check on neighbor’s dogs and then locked her dog, purse, phone and keys in her car. She is using my phone, but can’t remember phone numbers (I understand) and people don’t answer numbers they don’t recognize so even when she does get through to someone, they won’t pick up.

Dang, I was looking forward to getting decent Mexican on the way home.

I use regular noodles. Per my recipe, I layer everything as usual, then pour 3/4 cup or water over the while shebang, cover and seal it with foil, and bake. Perfect every time!

“Hey, I got this painted canvas and I don’t want it - anyone interested?” Anyway, that’s what I would do. Take a plate of cookies if you think you’ll feel guilty…

Awwwwwwww…

Morning chores are done. I tossed a bunch of ratty placemats and one stained tablecloth. All the rest are sorted and folded to fit neatly in the narrow cabinets. I also pulled out a buttload of fabric napkins that are going to the thrift store.

The TV cabinet no longer has 4 empty boxes in it (No, I don’t know why they were in there) and all our DVDs are more or less sorted. I tossed 5 VHS tapes because why were they in there anyway?? I also found a power strip and an extension cord that will go into the stash in the basement.

The cabinets in this room (my pseudo office/den/whatever) were more of a challenge. There are tons of pads of paper, some of which went to FCD’s office. I found photos, old loan paperwork, the paperwork from when we bought this house in 2004, and the booklets Mom got from the Naval Hospital in San Diego when I was born. I may scan and share them for a giggle. I tossed a lot, shredded some, and tidied the rest. Oh, yeah, and there were a couple dozen 3.5" disks that are now garbage.

I also laundered our recliner covers and tossed in some hoodies to fill the load (it’s closing in on hoodie weather.) Man, no wonder I’m a bit pooped!

FCD got a call from the marina - they’re ready to start on our boat and he had told them he wants to talk to the crew before they start. So he’s headed that way.

And it’s time for some lunch - I’m especially hungry since I woke about an hour earlier than usual. So off to the kitchen!!

As it turns out, my daughter is going to visit on Sunday, so we’ll hold off making it until then. She can take a hefty chunk home with her. I’ll just freeze the meats for a few days. I’ve only made lasagna a couple of times that I can recall, but always used the regular noodles. And our local grocer only has those.

Another day in the 80s, and humid. Breakfast has been et. All puzzles puzzed. Sadie has been fed and entertained and is now sacked out on the floor next to her toy.

Construction continues on the road below. Hopefully they’ll finish before winter arrives.

Daughter sent Roxy’s x-ray to us. Poor kid. I have no idea how they’ll set and stabilize it or how long it will take to heal. Poor kid.

I have ingested lunch. I’ve done a quick rollsuck. I had to put a light sweater on because it’s quite chilly - 63° outside and I have all the windows open because the rain smells good and sounds soothing.

And that’s all the news up to the minute.

Yesterday I stopped at Safeway on the way home from work: they’re in the process of reorganizing the entire store – some product moves started a few weeks ago (I sometimes hear other shoppers grumble about now-incorrectly-marked aisles), and today and tomorrow the store closes early for construction – and I think they’ve deliberately let some stock levels get low. Between that and the various in-progress changes, shopping was kind of…weird. My biggest disappointment was that the banana selection was absolutely terrible (hopefully deliberately), but one happy moment was discovering that Ritz Bits now come in a “spicy queso” flavor! I love queso and have been on a Ritz Bits kick for a little while, so I grabbed a box (but haven’t tried them yet).

I use a Google Sheets spreadsheet for my shopping list: everything I might want to buy is listed in aisle order, and there’s a y/n “need” column that I filter to show only the things I need during a particular trip. I’m looking forward to the store overhaul finally being done so I can update the aisles on my list. (Hey, sometimes it’s the little things!)

Except for right now’s lunch break, today is all meetings all the time: I had 3 this morning, and have 3 more – plus an interview (for a new minion) – this afternoon. But, over the course of the morning all of tomorrow’s meetings got cancelled! I’ll take the random schedule balance and the prospect of a quiet-ish Wednesday.

So cute!

Yes: the office is where my routines and schedule aren’t completely upside down.

I saw that, too. He was in a lot of stuff that I like, but one of my all-time-favorite movies is Sneakers: I plan to watch it this weekend, in memoriam.

And after making an appointment for my microwave, I started browsing a little more on the Google and found if you unplug it you may be able to get it to reset. But how do I find the plug. Google says ‘did you look in the cabinet above the microwave, dummy?’ So I did, then i did, and cleaned the panel good while it was unplugged, and my microwave is now running just fine. Have to cancel the appointment once I get the confirmation in my e-mail. So feeling a little dumb but at least I did (eventually) figure it out.

JtC, sorry you missed your Mexican food but in a good cause, hope some numbers come up with help for the poor doggie.

FCM, one of these days I am really going to go through my garage and really clean the stuff out of there…but today is not that day.

Oopsie, they haven’t done much re-organizing of my Kroger and Public stores, but different stores of their companies within a 3-5 mile radius are completely different, so you never know.

And need to do some banking, maybe a short stop at Wal-Mart, and then some afternoon sweating at the gym–today is my only non-soccer day until Sunday.

Onward into the afternoon.

I got a new T-shirt. It says, ‘In emergency, this is where you can commit seppuku.’ (Inside the Rising Sun, it says ‘Samurai’.)

So much adulting required of me. So little motivation to do, well, any of it. The warm, somewhat sticky weather is not helping.

Off to work open → close. I’ll try to restrain my enthusiasm.

wow! that is supreme productivity!

after visiting cousins on saturday i had time to zip through giant before getting on the train home. they had biscuits. score! just had a nummy biscuit, accompanied by mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and chicken tenders. happy tummy.

i am also sad about robert redford.

One of the loaders is on vacation, so I’ll be doing 200 Top Red for the rest of the week. That one gets a lot of Next Day Air stuff,. Joy. I stopped and got liquid soap and onion on the way home. Now it’s naptime.

They added a switch to the big bin, so now if you close and secure the chute door, it automatically starts compacting(unless you have an R2 unit handy  ).

Sounds like the start of a followup song by Dolly Parton.

< hoists tequila and a taco in celebration >

But now how are you going to find out how that episode of M.A.S.H. ended?

She looks like a showgirl.

In an emergency, I’d likely be too hari-ed to do that.

Missed it by that much.

How about

In an emergency, I’d likely be too hari-ed to kari about that.

Tokyo Tiger?

Yes. I also got a second ‘black cat tea ceremony’ shirt (‘The heart of the tea ceremony is silence. My mind is chaos.’) And a couple of shirts for my wife’s 11/24 birthday. There’s another one for her that is in L.A. as of today.

I adore their designs (when I understand them) and the shirts are comfortably thick.

When I was looking for a 1966 Japanese mens’ magazine, someone in the CS thread told me how to translate with the Google app on my iPhone. So I just find a T-shirt that looks good, look at the text through the camera, and tap the Translate button.

I was almost ready to turn on the heat here. Temps dropped from about 66° to 60° since this morning with the rain adding a dampness that reaches to the bones. I’ve closed some windows and we’re both wearing sweaters. More of the same tomorrow. Then sun and a bit of warming.

Supper tonight is via forage. Mine will be a can of soup.

I don’t even remember when I last had a desktop that had a floppy slot.

I took out some more boxes today and that was about all except playing in the studio. Sis will be over tomorrow for our thrifting / grocery shopping outing.
