(Old) Turning up the heat in the MMP

We’re going to attempt to make lasagna tomorrow from a recipe that the wife found online. It has ground beef, Italian sausage AND pancetta, and three kinds of cheese. The list of ingredients has me worried, as I’m not sure it will all fit in the baking dish. Tried to convince her that one half that size would better suit us, as we have an alarming habit of having leftovers end up in the trash after they turn into toxic waste, but was overruled.

The Spousal Unit didn’t want the not-frozen tamales we picked up from Trader Joe’s, so I defrosted a couple of bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs, rubbed them with olive oil, sprinkled on some kosher salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika, and popped them into the toaster oven.

Howdy Y’all! Been back from men’s night for a little while. We had a lesser crowd tonight but a good time was had by all. As usual we solved all the world’s problems but no one ever listens to us. Plus there was leftover homemade ice cream! HUZZAH!

MOOOOOOM poor RoxStar! Hope it’s not too bad.

I chilled out and did some coloring tonight. The images went into a couple of Christmas cards.

Evening all. Some gym time was indulged in and soccer game was refereed, dinner came from Dairy Queen (which makes some pretty good cheeseburgers to go along with their desserts). Inside now and will remain there for the rest of the evening, watching some tackleball and doing some house-tidying. Temp is down to 76F and the AC will be getting the night off pretty soon.

Lot of talking here on Moandays in the MMP, so need to catch up…

lucky, best wishes to Mr. Lucky, never had more than an achy arm from my shots. And hope the new mint plant delivers for you.

Nellie, hoping you stay well, guess Max’s person is just susceptible to the Virus.

FCM , sorry to hear about Roxys injury, kids that age are walking injuries just waiting to happen. Hopefully she’ll get by with some type of brace. And I’m getting requests for donations from both the Democrats and the Republicans.

JtC, will be interesting to see how GG does with the groomer (I presume he has been groomed before). One of my favorite You Tube channels is “Girl With the Dogs” and lately she’s been rooming almost as many cats as dogs. And ANG? (Only thing I can come up with is Air National Guard, and I don’t think that’s right).

red, glad you got a prompt appointment and a diagnosis and referral. Hope it works out for the best.

cookie, hope the lasagna turns out well, and as for leftovers, well, maybe Garfield can come to visit…

And time to do some pick-up and put-away while watching the tackleball. Take care all.

I napped. I dreamed I had a pet goat, and that I forgot how to make an Old Fashioned. Spot trampled me, screamed in triumph, and ran out of the room. Now I’m up having an Old Fashioned, and a mushroom Swiss burger with fried.

We just switched from spectrum to Fiber last month. Now every week we get a plastic card from Spectrum, and a card from Google Fiber(they couldn’t Google we’re a customer?).

The Spousal Unit didn’t want any chicken, so I had both thighs. They were good. I also had three (raw) flat green beans from the bag one of Wifey, RN’s patients gave to her, and two thin slices of havarti. Goo did get her tribute. Apparently she really liked the chicken too.

Just watched Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb (again). How many times have I seen it over the decades? There’s no telling. But I think this is the first time that I noticed that the shadow of the B-52 flying low over the ground, was the shadow of a B-17.

American Needlepoint Guild. I thought you knew me better than that, geeze louise!

The gormless one has never been professionally groomed before, but that’s because he’s never lived somewhere with winter either. He will whine and complain and not cooperate while going boneless and stiff at the same time. Cats that don’t want to be picked up can get really heavy when they try.

I’m going to get my shots tomorrow, I have TWO booze bombs in the fridge already. It used to be one booze bomb and a half pint of Ben and Jerry’s but the real stuff is getting hard to find.

:scream:

Thank goodness you recovered enough to learn that it wasn’t true.

Ice cream with graham crackers is all you need for a healthy breakfast!

Lasagna freezes very well, plus it is very easy to give away to neighbors. I hope it works out, it sounds rather cheese deficient to me. I guess the custard might make up for it?

I broke my collarbone less than a year ago. My shoulder sometimes aches, but that’s probably because I didn’t follow up with my PT exercises as well as I should have.

Dang for Roxie, but dang even more for those folks who will be trying to keep her entertained without using both arms.

We went around the block to check for that but didn’t see anything suitable. I was younger when we visited every other year and didn’t pay attention to the accessibility accommodations available because I am far to self absorbed to notice something unless it inconveniences me.

I’m learning better now, WV is old and many of the buildings really cannot be modified to accommodate us gimps.

So, its getting late here, I should probably head off to bed. The windows are open and it is 66f outside. I think Hubs will be too hot, but he’s the one who shut the AC off so I won’t worry about it.

I hope everyone has a great night and good morning.

And this is the reason many people prefers dogs. At least they’re amusing.

Don’t do much Halloween-specific decorating here, but I do put up some fall decor. Still feels too much like summer.

Well, crap. Hope she heals quickly.

Win-win! Is it closer to you as well?

Somehow my coloring doesn’t result in such cute cards. Hope the tooth thing gets better soon.

Today’s the one chilly day of the week. It’s only going to get to 18 C / 64 F and it’s currently 16 C / 60 F. I’m sitting in the conservatory wearing my favorite flannel shirt, as I have about 50 minutes before we leave.

I took off my wedding ring, and I didn’t realize how much I fiddle with it during the day until it’s not there.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 64 degrees Ferret Height(17.7 centipedes) outside.

Spot is amusing, when he’s not trying to eat me, or yell at me.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 17c/62f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a fucking good day to see if you are still able to suck your own toes. Or someone else’s. I won’t fucking judge.” Err….no, thank you.

Sharp corner on a pack of laundry tabs? Otherwise, I have no idea unless you had something sharp in a pocket and forgot to remove it. Sadie is still beautiful!

I just assume I’ve lost the argument before I start, and I’m only doing it to keep the cat entertained.

It does you good to be away from all the reminders, and a semblance of normality with other people helps too.

Ouchie! Did that myself as a youngster, nothing serious for treatment just several weeks with my arm in a sling. Fingers crossed that’s as bad as it gets.

That does not sound good at all, I hope the stronger antibiotics will help sort that out for you.

Yesterday was a busy day with irk stuff as we released all our remaining results for students who didn’t pass stuff back in June. I’ve got three students who have not got results out yet, one of them has already withdrawn but is eligible for a diploma instead of a degree which I can’t process because she needs to be made a non-leaver again. The other two have issues that I can’t fix so central student admin will have to do it. They both return the same error message, I followed the troubleshooting advice but that did not fix the problem, so someone else has to tackle that. Now the great tidy-up starts as I have to make sure all the continuing students are showing up on reports where they’re meant to be.

After irk, I shoved the rollsuck around the house because the floors looked really manky, then chopped fruit and made some breakfast for today. Decided to make spagbol for dinner so that I’d got leftovers for lunch today, and a spare portion to go in the freezer. I’m on campus on a day I’m usually at home, so that’s going to confuse the rest of my week!

The only other big job yesterday was getting all the recycling together and hauling the biiiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection. No idea when that’s likely to happen, there was no sign of the dustcart when I left the house at 7am. Today we have the mandatory start-of-year pointless nonsense from our head of operations so that will be 2hrs of my life I’ll never see again.

You have no idea… As it turns out the eye drops for pink eye can cause, uh, shall we say stomach upset. I’ve been up several times during the night cruising to the bathroom and just decided to give up at about 3:30.

They have? I haven’t seen or heard anything about it here.

That’s great and makes your life easier!

Those are so cute!

Annie and I are currently sitting in our chair waiting for MusicMan to come down on his way to work. Not much else to report here right now.

Oh, how could I forget? Today would have been my dad’s 75th birthday and my grandmother’s as well - I don’t know how old she would have been. She’s the one that passed when I was a baby. We’re going to (should I say celebrate?) remember them tonight.

That’s the plan for now - she sees the ortho tomorrow. I found out she was doing a flip off a jungle gym and fell. Naturally. I’m selfishly thinking I’m glad it didn’t happen when I had her at the playground. She was flipping then, but more successfully. And it’s her right side - she’s right-handed. That promises to be interesting at school.

Woke from a bizarro dream involving friends and RVs, and I had (and have) Elton John in my head singing Sweet Painted Lady. We heard it on Sirius the other day and it’s now decided to become my earworm. I guess it could be worse.

I also woke to the sound of rain. It’s supposed to be with us pretty much without end till Thursday morning. Goodness knows, we need it. And it means I can’t do any weeding (Damn the luck! ) Since I’ve upset the universe by dusting, I suppose I can rollsuck and maybe clean up some cabinets that have become repositories of miscellany. Yeah, that sounds like a plan.

And now the icemaker beckons. Happy Tuesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 87 and sunny. It’s laundry day! I am so excitated! I will call the pharmacy when they open and ger two scripts refilled. Sup will be fried chikin from the burly butcher sto’, squishes, rutabagas, field peas with snaps and cornbread. I could actually fry chikin myself, but the sto’ does it so well, why should I.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Does your pharmacy not do automatic refills? CVS does, unless you tell them otherwise.

FCD is up, showered, and enroute to the marine, as usual. I shall shower shortly and commence to sorting miscellaneous stuff…

Off to train.

Clearly you have never seen either my freezer or my neighbors.

I take my ring off when I’m cooking and always spend a lot of time rubbing my bare finger while I’m watching a pot or something. I don’t think I really mess with it while I’m wearing it, it’s when I don’t have it that I notice.

Hubs is on blood thinners and has paper-thin skin. He has drawn blood just by rubbing against the wall. He rarely notices either. I’m the one who finds the blood on the floor and follows the trail to him.

I’m only doing it to entertain Hubs cause I know the cats aren’t listening.

And I always thought that you were such a nice person, what did you possibly do to get the fates so mad at you?!?

I hope you feel better this afternoon, that’s a whole lot of not fun happening in your life right now.

Oh. Hmmm. Well, I hope it turns out good cause you will be eating a lot of it. Do you use the no-boil noodles? I’ve never tried them, I’ve always worried about the noodles not cooking properly but the theory behind them is sound. They should work.

So I finally allowed myself to look at my new pieces and I am very disappointed. They are both painted canvas which wasn’t indicated in the listings. I do not like doing painted canvas. I’ve only started two and one of them is in one of my stash bins half finished.

I think. I know it moved three times with us, I haven’t seen it since we moved here but I haven’t totally emptied my bins and touched everything for years. I should do that some day.

I contacted the auction organizer and asked that they try to always indicate if something is painted and she agreed that it should be listed as well. I’ll think about the kits for a while. Maybe I’ll work them, or maybe one of the folks at my weekly stitching group would like them, but I don’t have enough for everyone so maybe that won’t happen.

I haven’t seen any hummingbirds this morning, Mrs H says to leave the feeders out until two weeks after I’ve seen the last one and that count started yesterday.

Hubs is arguing with Jolene over his pants (He puts his clothes on the bed before starting to get dressed. She sits on his clothes. He tries to convince her to give him his clothes back peacefully before resorting to getting grabby.) which tells me that he’s getting ready to head out. I’m already dressed but I should probably double check my shopping list.

Have a great day everyone!

Mornin’ all.

It’s 52°F, dark, and clear outside. Sunrise occurs at 6:48 a.m., so we’re 12 minutes away from that. The day will contain plentiful sunshine, and they’re still calling for a daytime high of 90°F.

Red, I sure hope the tooth issue is sorted very quickly. I liked the cards; very cute!

FCM, poor Roxy! I hope there are no complications.

I went to Costco yesterday with the intention of getting toilet paper because we were getting a little low. I also planned to pick up some vitamins. Welp, I came home with the TP and not the vitamins. I also came home with 400 bucks worth of other stuff. Jeebus. It didn’t even seem like all that much stuff (a couple towels, a pair of jeans for my husband, some diet coke, the TP, some fruit, an pot pie from the deli, two steaks, some chips, and couple of other items. Anyway, the original plan was to go to Safeway after Costco to pick up ingredients for today’s dinner, but I had stuff that would have melted, so I came home instead. This means I need to go to Safeway this morning.

Nellie, I sure hope you’ve avoided the plague. I’m sorry for your friend, though.

I still haven’t heard anything back about the comp time hours they removed from my balance. I sent an email last week and was told to be patient. If I don’t hear anything by the end of the week, I’m going to email them again. It’s not that hard to figure out, damn it.

I’m not sure what the day holds for us, except for me heading to the store to pick up the ingredients for the birthday dinner. My husband is a big homebody, so I don’t foresee him wanting to go anywhere.

I read this morning that Robert Redford died. It makes me feel old, seeing as how I grew up watching him act in movies and later watched movies he directed. Another icon gone.

I’m nearly done with my second cup of coffee, so I’d best get to gettin’.Take care.

HAPPY MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY!
