(Old) Waiting for an Update in the MMP

TOD is great. Rather few states offer it on vehicles. But if yours does, by all means take advantage of the opportunity!!

For everybody else …

On my phone now; I’ll deliver my daily drivel and my much anticipated responses to your fine posts later when home on my PC.

That’s excellent Cookie

hmmmm. I believe that in Michigan if a car goes to a relative, there isn’t a sales tax. Maybe that’s only if it’s a sale and not a transfer upon death. But that sucks that you had to pay a sales tax. Couldn’t the estate have sold it instead of you personally?

Daughter arrived just after 1pm on Amtrak. Bella was happy to be out of the case she travels in on the train. I made sandwiches for everyone: roast beef on DKB for Hubs, turkey and bacon on everything bagel for daughter, half a BLT for self (also finished leftover tuna noodle salad) and bits of bacon in Bella’s bowl. Then walked Bella and since have been catching up on the day’s posts. Anxious to hear the details about the Italy trip when daughter is down with WFH. She did WFH on the train on the way so she didn’t have to use any PTO.

I had to tell MIL she can’t do anything in the kitchen any more. She left the freezer ajar - third time in as many weeks. And when she makes toast or whatever, she leaves crumbs that she can’t see - I smooshed an ant on the counter today. Nope, can’t have that.

I have a slightly modified shepherd’s pie in the oven - topped with tots instead of smashed spuds. Waaaaaay too much, but it’s good left over, so not a huge deal. Laundry is off the lines, folded, and stowed. Daughter and I have a date tomorrow to hit WalMart and BJ’s in the morning while SIL is still home so he can corral the grands. I do hate having to rely on others for rides. It wouldn’t be bad if this county had better public transportation, but the closest it comes to my house is 3-ish miles. Dammit.

I’m ready for some more chillage. I didn’t do a lot today, but I’m dragging. It’s got to be the meds. My brain isn’t woozy, but I do feel fatigued. Better living thru chemistry, I guess…

I mowed the back lawn at lunch. I tried to set fire to the rhododendron limbs’n’leaves that are in the burn pit, but they wouldn’t ignite. I mowed the square of grass in the front yard, that’s between the front of the living room and the front bedroom extension. I would have mowed the whole thing, but I need to clear the cedar limbs PSE left in the yard. I’ll do that after irk.

And a good afternoon all. Swimming has been completed, got my 1.5 miles in by breaking it up into 3 sets with whirlpool time in-between, so that took care of a big chunk of the afternoon. Will fix my big bowl O’Salad here in about an hour or so and internettin’ and readin’ will occupy most of the remains of the day. 86F outside and hardly a cloud in the sky.

Cookie, glad your mobility is better and the pain less. May it continue that way.

Shoe, glad the landlady saw the sense of getting you help with the lawn. Hope they get the freezer working quickly, that can really mess things up in a restaurant setting. Have a good Long Night (I read that and flash back to a Science Fiction writer (Poul Anderson), who used that term for the Fall of the Galactic Empire in his future history series–sorry for the derail, my mind is a cluttered place where things suddenly pop out).

Hippie, you and Sunbeam? raised a pretty smart kid.

talkie, glad the paperwork is done, sad about the sales tax. Had to look up TOC (Transfer on Death, right?). I don’t have one of those and while I am not planning on dying anytime soon, it sounds like a good idea, so I might look into that (and I just did, Alabama does not allow TOD for vehicles…rats).

Cat Glove, happy catching up with Daughter. Never been to Italy but hope too one of these days.

FCM, public transportation here in N. Ali-bama is virtually non-existent, bus routes run 1-2 times an hour and none are closer than 4-5 miles from me, so know what you mean.

flyboy, happy mowage. I’ll probably do it on Wednesday before heading off to Knoxville.

Just about Salad Time, so off I go to do fix it. Back later.

Apartment is cleaneded, groceries bought and now I’m fixing to sit town to pay bills before messing around in the studio. I may take Nelson to Andy’s for a cone (and likely a pup cup for him) in a bit.

Well, the potential boss did not call this afternoon.

Howdy Y’all! I made the chikin sallit for today’s productivity. Then it was quality cee-mint pond time which included sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’. Then it was shower time. Then it was majik intartoobz pizza and sallit time. Now 'tis chill time.

Coppertone Happy Doperversary!

JtC I am guessin’ that maybe by now you are in WV. Welcome to the eastern time zone!

Taters hope whatever the WA equivalent of a tax/tag office is does not give you a hassle about bein’ late.

MOOOOOOM Goats and vehicles! I am sure RoxStar and the Tobester had a blast. Have they set a date for the weddin’?

Talky but it’s a new and improved system! A new and improved system is always better, even when it doesn’t work! So the guy just rides around da ‘hood on his lawn mower wearin’ only a speedo? I think you win the weirdo neighbor award hands down.

Flyboy yay for Goo on figurin’ out the door!

Wheelie I have a July bday so def a Summer baby here!

Red meant to say this in my first post. Thinkin’ or Nelson runnin’ with his possee always makes me smile. I just know he has such a good time!

Cookie good to know the knee is doin’ better.

Hippie smart kid ya got there.

Waving from WV. I actually got teared up when I crossed the state line, the green and the trees are mine forever, I don’t have to leave them again.

Our new home is even more beautiful than the pics showed. It has some dings and dents, but with the exception of the kitchen appliances and the toilets, everything is cosmetic and easily dealt with.

GG is settling right in and I’m going to go outside and sit a spell on the front porch (under the fan to keep the skeeters away)

Hurrah!

Welcome home!

To keep the skeeters away, keep the lights off. And happy for you!

After irk I went out with the Cyndis and lopped the pile of branches PSE left in the yard, then I mowed the rest of the lawn. Then I went out and lopped up the pile they left at the street, and then stacked it in front of the power poles. (Hey, PSE made the mess. They can have the debris in front of their poles.) The lopping reduced the volume by half.

My PCP says I should get a half-hour of exercise every day. My exercise is usually walking three miles in an hour. I didn’t walk today. I think a combined three hours of mowing and lopping is enough for one day. My shower and shave felt good.

I didn’t get to ride the bike. I’ve just finished two hot Italian sausages on two slices of low-carb bread, each with a slice of provolone. I was going to have a roast beast-and-Monster sandwich and a dill pickle spear, but the roast beast was a bit whiffy so I tossed it. Mrs. L.A. made herself rice, and ate it with soy sauce before I was ready to eat.

Welcome home

JtC, so glad you’ve made it to your new home and are happy about it.
I predict many years of contentment there.

Happy Birthday Shoe!!

So glad you made it, JtC.

I took a nap and woke up 4 hours later. Not feeling great today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I laundered, napped, Spot licked my head. I’m having fish tacos(with sauteed peppers, onions, and jalapenos, aioli with Dukes, rice wine vinegar, and Penzey’s Arizona Dreaming). And a Negroni, because I’m cosmopolitan like that.

And I thought my day was bad. < crosses appropriate and inappropriate appendages for a good Long Shift >

It is an improvement.

Toilets? :grimacing:
But glad GG is settling, and you’re home.

JtC, welcome home!

Yay! I’m glad that you made it without losing GG.

Speaking of birthdays (it’s not mine yet, and won’t be tomorrow), Mrs. L.A. made reservations at the very good (and expensive) local steak house for tomorrow. She doesn’t want me to tell it’s (virtually) my birthday, because she doesn’t want to hear Happy Birthday To You played on the cow bells – unless I want to. And I do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Friday!

Happy Birthday, Shoe

Sleepy day today. I took a nap around noon, and then another tonight.
I just woke up, in time to go to bed.

I checked out smaller walkers this morning, thank you Boo.
I haven’t decided yet.

NOt much else going one.
