(Old) Waiting for an Update in the MMP

Late to the party, but I’m glad you’re feeling better, CatGlove. And flyboy! That sounds really unsettling.

'Tis indeed summer in the overlyhouse - kids are home and bumming around, so we’ve begun sending them on errands and getting them to help clean the place up more. The neighbor up the street is riding around the neighborhood in a speedo on his lawnmower again. I miss working from home full time.

My company recently rolled out a new online authentication service and it absolutely sucks. I’ve been trying for weeks to get it to work properly, defaulting to the older auth service. Unfortunately the old auth service goes away in a few weeks, so I’ve spent nearly an hour already this morning trying to get the new one to work. It’s bad enough that they had to create a separate helpline and it’s costing thousands of people hours and hours to get it to function properly. Even trying to get this to work is enraging. A cup of coffee will calm me down, right?!

the real lucky ones are the south facing people, they get to look out and watch the planes take off and land.

that view is great for most of the year, the winter is difficult due to sun angles for the early sunset.

happy birthday to shoe!

happe doperversary to coppertone!

Happy birthday, shoe

 roped ya in didn’t she, very smooth move!

I am so going to store that one in my bag of tricks. Instead of mowing it will be weed whacking the edges of the chaos garden.

I tried to connect to my irk computer at six this morning, and got a network error message. Tried a few times, so I must have been locked out as well. I went to Outlook online and sent an email to our IT support. They eventually called, and connected to my Mac. He did something in Preferences, and I got logged in. When he disconnected from my computer, I lost my connection… and I had a full-screen login page that A) Said I was entering the wrong passwords; and 2) Wouldn’t let me close the window. I had to do a hard reboot. I’m back online now, waiting while one of my programs is going ‘Ka-chunk, ka-chunk, ka-chunk…’ (It’s a big file.)

In any case, I’ve lost an hour and a half of irking time.

Catmom says Goo’s ear looks better this morning. I couldn’t get a look at it, so I’ll take Catmom, RN’s word for it.

Since it’s still cool in the mornings, we close the back door. If the cats are in the catio, we just shut the door so that there’s no friction in the jamb. When Abbey wants in, she pushes the door open. (She hasn’t learned how to shut it again.) When Goo wants in, she’ll sit there and maybe say, ‘Let me in!’ (in Cat). I think she’s starting to figure out that the door will open if she pushes on it. She figured it out this morning, anyway.

Happy Birthday Shoe!!

Happy Cake Day Coppertone!!

Yesterday it was 111° here, which set two records: a record high for June 6, and the earliest date for 110-plus.
Supposed to be 110 again today. Already 94 at 8:30am.
No surprisingly, we aren’t spending much time outdoors.

Our AC is good, but Mrs W still likes to be dramatic about the heat. I keep telling her I’ll gladly take this in exchange for Chicago winters.

Of course, she loved the weather in SF, where it’s pretty much 60 all year, and I hated that. I’m a summer baby for sure.

Thank you, to you & everyone else.

Jeebus, that’s like, a week’s worth of erranding for me!

Goats are so much fun!

Dang. I still need someone to mow my lawn jungle meadow, but …

Had a fairly substantial dinner (for me) and went to bed relatively early (for me) so I was up not long after dawn for a rather, uh, extended bio-break.

Details are unfit for polite company, but I’m sure we all know that what goes in must come out, in one way or another.

But at least I was able to conk back out for a bit. Wouldn’t have minded another hour of hard sleep, tho …

Sounds lovely. I, like your wife, loathe the heat.

:hippopotamus: :dove: :sheep: :sheep: shoe!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped and remade, towels and sheets washed, dried and put away, a load of clothes in the dryer, KP done, kitchen and bath cleaned and fixing to do floors. After, I’ll make the week’s menu and grocery list, get sheveled and go shopping.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

7 years a Doper. Theres nowhere else to get quality advice. And good people.

Oh, y’all wanna hear something either maddening or funny?

I dreamed I was talking to an old friend from college, and I clearly remember saying, "You know, it took me four decades to learn that the secret is – " AND THEN I WOKE UP.

What’s the secret? To what is it a secret?

So far this week:
Wednesday: General FUBAR
Thursday: General FUBAR + 7000 surprise packages
Friday: Thursday, plus a trailer of out of center unloaded with out stuff.
But I stopped and bought tequila and Japanese gin, so it balances out.
I enjoy heat. Which is agood thing, because my work area feels like Satan’s taint already.

:birthday: :partying_face::champagne:HAPPY BIRTHDAY shoe!!!:champagne::partying_face::birthday:

:cake::partying_face:Happy Doperversary Coppertone!!!:partying_face::cake:

Is one of them the Fool Button?

Totes Magoates!

Which is worse? FUBAR or TARFU?

Howdy all. Firday shopping has been done, Pepsi 12-packs were buy 2, get 2 free, so I did which should keep me supplied into August. Along with bananas and the Firday NY Times I should be fine through Wednesday (leaving early Thursday for Knoxville, won’t be back until Sunday). The got a call about my head MRI, it is scheduled for Monday the 16th at 6:30am, so guess I’ll find out how well my alarm clock works. Just waiting for my sammiches to digest before heading off to the gym for some swimmin’ time. Already 82F outside, so no great need to go outside of the AC.

Taters, some people are always late; don’t know why but they are. Me, probably like you, are always there before time so waiting ticks us off. Have you ever tried to tell them the meeting is 5 minutes before it is actually due to start?

FCM, saw this and the photo on Facebook, Roxy is growing up real fast! Haven’t bought frozen french fries in ages, because I have no resistance to them if they are in the house.

talkie, I feel for you, businesses (and some government agencies) just love to be sold the most ‘modern’ gadgets, even if they decrease efficiency.

Flyboy, sounds like IT helped in a ass-backward sort of way.

Wheelie, sort of reminds me of my years in Abu Dhabi, but it was always in Celsius so we just watched as it got closer and closer to 50C (122F).

shoe, sounds like a good start to an Indiana Jones movie…

doggio, after that hope you don’t have to work Saturday…

OK, need to finish a couple more You Tubes and then change into my swimming gear. Good afternoon to all.

Hippy bur[pday, shoe!!

The Arboretum was good yesterday, although quite windy. Lots of flowers in bloom. I was happy with my knee performance, as we had to walk up a fairly substantial incline and some stairs at one point, and I had little problem with it (other than breathing!). The knee was a little stiff this morning, but was better after exercise. I’m now 11 months post-op.

Three loads of clothes hanging on the lines, two others folded and stowed. MIL had her shower. That’s pretty much been the day.

Flowers AND a less-sore knee … aces in my book!

Landlady showed up unexpectedly. She’s not happy about Charm and Pretzel although so far has kept it on the D.L. … but she would shit bricks if she knew I still had the ratties.

Thank god she came around to the side door.

Anyway, she came by to fuss about the trash looking lawn, I explained that I’d tried unsuccessfully to find a local non-gouger, she told me she’s putting me on the mngmt. provided lawn service, and I figured, we’ll both be happy knowing it’s being done.

So, that’s done.

… oh, and also, called my mother.

In better news, dispo does a free pre-roll on your birthday, and I got hearty wishes from the budtenders, at least a couple of which I think were there on Pizza Delivery Night a while back.

Time for a damn shower, to slap on carefully draw my Pizza Pirate eyeliner, tie on that rainbow kerchief that makes me so happy, and see what the day shall bring.

Oh, yeah.
The work freezer walk-in died Wednesday (as in, 40 F) so things have been a bunch of “where the hell is … ?” “do we have ANY of … ?!?” as we scrambled as best we could by stuffing as much product as possible into the small freezers under the fryer, and stashing the rest at the warehouse about 10 min away.

May the birthday gods gift me with a less-than-chaotic Long Night shift.

Since this is my cake day :cake: and I love this board, I think we all have a favorite poster. Why not message them and tell them so?
As I’ve found, the smallest gestures can cheer a person up.

My older daughter is on a Mexican vacation with a pretty large group of friends. The group wanted to take a ferry trip to Cozumel. My daughter had a massage appointment and told then she would catch up later. As the group exited the ferry a dog came up to one of the women and sat down next to her. My daughter’s friend was arrested for possession of marijuana. She was able to pay a five hundred dollar fine and, after the whole group chipped in to pay the fine, they let her go on her way.

The group went back to the ferry this morning and wanted my daughter to go too. I raised her smarter that. She just booked another massage and spent the day at the beach.

Happiest of happy birthdays, shoe and coppertone!

I’m prepping for what is supposed to be my last meeting of the day, having not really resolved anything on the technology side. But oh well.

I also went to the DMV today. We’re still in the process of closing up my mom’s estate, so I had to retitle her car to me (note to self: always make sure there’s a TOD) so I can get a clean title and sell the car and use it toward her bills. The sales tax was ungodly high because she had a fairly nice vehicle, so another note to self: don’t spend too much money on cars OR make sure you sell it to the person you want to receive it for, like, a dollar. Budget is now blown. Grrr.
