(Old) Waiting for an Update in the MMP

Hi folks - Here’s my thoughts on Sunday’s posts from the prior MMP. Sounds like most folks had a good day except for a certain cat falling off a fridge, and a python running amok. Hmm … can a critter with no legs “run amok”? If not, what sort of amokking can they do? Enquiring minds baffled at this one.

Yaay for wolves! And generally successful trips, net of traffic.

This. And congrats CatGlove on more progress with hubs.

This! BBBoo be the nursest with the mostest. Battle damage notwithstanding.

Ouch! You can’t even hear the pitter-patter of their little feet. So they’re real hard to find if they have a head start. Good luck and let us know how the great Python Hunt went.

I resemble that remark. :leer:

Good luck with that. Seriously, but I’m not taking bets. But, ref my earlier comment, at least that proves you found him/her.

Nooo: :scream: Shoe’s gonna wig out. Good to hear your meds are leaving you less woozy.

Having been the eldest ringleader of a gang of miniature hooligans who traveled a lot as kids, I can’t agree more. Getting the hell away from Mom and Dad was vital to kidly sanity. But usually had to wait until we returned home.

Yep.

You know all the best places. Sounds awesome. You could lead a truly epic Doper or MMPer pub crawl.

Same applies to children. Or so I’ve heard.

And the young idjits keep standing on your lawn!

The injustices are endless. May your dudgeon be both high and righteous!

And with that I’ve finished Sunday’s comments. I’ll get to your 60-and-still-counting Mon posts sometime later today.

Cheers & Happy Moanday! Or what remains of it here at not-quite-noon.

Reasonable heaving, but it’s getting hot. It would be nice if that fan had more airflow than an asthmatic mouse fetus.
Also:
HAPPY NATIONAL CHEESE DAY!!! :cheese: :cheese: :cheese: :cheese:

Let’s hope you avoid the Noodle Incident.

I had the same problem Saturday night. But hopefully the doc can dial the meds in so it’s not so bad.

: crosses fingers :

Agree on all three. In fact, Texas Roadhouse is where we went for my birthday a couple weeks ago.

Several years ago I told my daughter I had gotten her a southern lunch, and she immediately guessed that it was a moon pie and an RC. (RC is her favourite cola, and I just happened to see the moon pies near the checkout.)

I took the bus to near the mall, walk 10 minutes to see the sign on the eyeglass door-closed tuesdays.

Thanks! I love the term ‘battle damage’ for traumatic brain injury as I’m experiencing it-fits it perfectly (where’s my battle campaign ribbon?).

I’m pretty sure Charm is shoe’s tiny, wee snake pet (corn snake(?) or a similar colorful snek). Pretzel is her great big python’s name.

Howdy all. Have accomplished little yet, I borrowed from the Hobbits and ate Second Breakfast, the first was a mug of Instant Breakfast, the second was a bowl of Corn Flakes, so total it added up to a good meal.

I did manage to do something I haven’t done in a long time…buy a ticket to a baseball game. Thursday night, 6:35pm, Rocket City Trash Pandas vs Chattanooga Lookouts. $17 for a first base line seat and $10 for parking, so not the cheap thrills it once was, but still looking forward to it.

Pilot, sounds as if your exercise regime is still going well–and is a Lot more fun than mine. Enjoy life–moderation is for monks!

FCM, sounds like your life is getting back to normal, but with precautions, which are good.

OK, need to do some house-irk and then head off to the sweating place, so take care all.

Well, I was off on my estimates by a bit. The flower place only got us for about $42, but the grocery racked up $102. The Ms can’t resist pre-packaged foods, which I find tasteless and overpriced for the most part, so we ended up with some of that along with the necessities. Got the flowers planted and watered, checked the 'maters and are now resting in air-conditioned comfort after venturing out into the humid 80+s.

It took me about 3:15 to get from Birch Bay to Burien this morning. I didn’t see, or hear of, any crashes in my direction. I think people were just driving slow because of the rain.

Something I’ve noticed: Many times, including this morning, and last time it rained on my commute, it’s raining north of Seattle. I take the Express (not HOV) lanes, which pass under the Convention Center. The traffic is usually reasonably light when I come out of the tunnel on the south side of Downtown Seattle… and despite the rain north of Downtown, it’s not raining on the other side. Obviously this can’t happen all the time, but I’ve seen it often enough to wonder if Someone is playing a prank.

Formerly known as longhair75. Please note the change in screen name

Just don’t change your icon & we’ll recognize you.

Exactly.
I called the future boss and he said to come Thurs and we’ll talk.

:+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2: Right you are,pilot

Mother Nature must still be cranky. The forecast for today is cloudy with a 40% chance of showers. It’s been raining hard for almost two hours. I’m trying to decide about walking. Should I wait and hope the rain will end and stay ended? Should I go and get drenched (with an umbrella)? I could just go to the gym, but it’s .75 miles there with no bus stops, so I’d get drenched anyway. Hmm.

I guess I’ll mull it over while I wash my sheets and pillowcases.

LH75, we’re still calling you hippy, right? Or since your screen name is shorter, should we just call you hip? (Which you are!)

FCM, just because I’m a worrywart, did the doc say you were OK to drive? I don’t see how you could NOT drive with all you do and with FCD planning to be gone, but I do know some states require people to wait 6-12 months after a seizure to drive, even if they’re on meds. I had a friend who had a seizure while driving, and the car went down an embankment and was about to hit a semi in the right lane on the highway when her young granddaughter managed to hit the brake and turn the steering wheel. So scary. Hence my probably needless worry.

Taters, I hope work is less stupid in the near future, although it sounds like a permanent condition.

Sorry. I should have explained that better. Lots of young people qualify for SSDI. I was talking about iffy cases. That is, my neighbor was talking about iffy cases, and I was going by her remarks.

Sorry the eyeglasses place was closed. What a pain.

nellie I won’t drive till my meds get me back in balance, however long that takes. I certainly won’t get behind the wheel when I feel dopey. And the first few times I venture out, I’ll have FCD with me. This is based on the guidance from my neurologist. I’ll be seeing her again in 2 weeks - I doubt I’ll drive before then anyway.

I decided to fire up the bread maker - we’re having soup and fresh bread for supper. Probably more bread than soup, because, well, freshly-baked bread!!

We just had a staph luncheon to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays from the last couple of months. (I turned 17 in April, so I was one of the reasons to eat – not that we need a reason.) Lunch was obtained from Jersey Mike’s. Unfortunately, I don’t eat bread. Or cookies. Or chips. They didn’t have any salads. So I went to Trader Joe’s and bought my own damned salad. (Cobb salad, of course.)

There’s a Credit Congress coming up (in Las Vegas, I think.) No reason for me to go. But El Jefe passed out ball caps to everyone in the orifice. They’re neon green, with the company logo on the front in blue, and ‘EST. 1899’ in blue on the back. Maybe I’ll retire my 20-something-year-old Ocean Kayak hat (it used to be bright orange; now it’s… whatever colour bright orange becomes after 20-some years of sun) and wear the Company Cap on my walks.

Nearly 5pm and so nearly cocktail time here as I try to catch up on all y’alls’ ~75 posts from today. Has been gloriously sunny all day, with NWS settling for 87/31 at the high and no further chance of rain. I just had an excessive snack and, it being Tuesday, will eventually wander down the street for craft tacos and 'ritas; perhaps 2 of each.

I’ve done some highly annoying adulting today; nobody else seems to be able to play their own game for shit today. But had some easy success, some abject failure, and some vexation mixed with partial success. No way I’m going to tackle those last couple of as-yet untouched tasks; the auguries are just not good today. Tomorrow’s not lookin’ good either.

Wow. So many things.

  1. Approval to pay off HL’s car loan. Followed by a cavalcade of other divorce-related stuff. Gettin’ closer though! Yaay!
  2. Two new credit cards to finally deliver their first statement so I can start the auto-pay set-up process on them.
  3. My main bank to unfuxxor all my auto-pay e-bills that their website tech helpfully destroyed this afternoon in the process of trying to fix something else that’s still just as broke as before he “helped”. I walked in with one problem; now I have 10. Gee thanks bank! Not.
  4. News from building maintenance about my outrageous desire for an additional towel rack in my bathroom.
  5. In a boofae-appropriate issue, some BS where the local college I took some classes at 6 years ago is now claiming I have some financial aid stuff fouled up. I never applied for, nor received, any such thing. I think they were cleaning out their files of former students and found me. Or somebody has been scamming in my name for a few years now using my college email. It doesn’t help that every email from the college is illiterate and looks utterly like a solicitation to contact a scammer. (I suppose they have to hire their own graduates, so it just makes sense none of their employees can write a coherent, grammatically correct sentence).

Yaay indeed. I’ve become a lot more fond of that phrase as I age. It’s an excuse and a reassurance all rolled into one!

I hope that’s “we” as in the customer, not “we” as in “you”. It’ll still be a flail for you since opening night isn’t moving to accommodate this glitch, but better it be their fault than ours.

Inadvertently hit [Send] far, far too soon, so there’ll be more.

I saw one flying from an older, white Caddy yesterday and my first thought was what a prick. The second was to see how bad the driving was (those bozos tend to be the worst or rudest drivers on the road).

Gala is a regular in my apple rotation. Like you, sliced with peanut butter is a good breakfast or snack.

Irked, came home, took Nelson out and et. Not a whole lot shakin’ at CasaRoja.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Yaay! But what a f***ing PITA. Some people’s kids just can’t play this game.

The day I moved out of Arizona was a darn good day for me too. The last time I ever had to be there for a non-work trip was also a good day. As a place to visit for a layover it was/is not bad. But I don’t anticipate returning during my remaining lifetime either. And most of my involvement with the place was before it went bathshit crazy.

Like the country song almost says:

Happiness is Arizona in the rearview mirror.

The original for those who don’t recognize the ref:

Although that idjit singer actually likes friggin’ Lubbock. WTF is up with that?

Jeez there Cookie, that’s a bad one for niece. Bastard crooks and bastard cops. Hooray for the graduate however.

ETA: As many have already said while I was procrastinating …

If you’re talking Social Security disability, pretty much as a matter of policy every claim is denied the first time. It’s the result of the appeal that’s the real decision. It’s their way of weeding out the deserving but administratively incapable. Saves a lot of money that way. Still sucks, but it’s important for you to understand that at least for SSDI, the denial means nothing about your actual qualification. Just that you’re not as done applying for it as you thought you were. The appeal is the de facto application.

Not having cheated by reading downthread I predict you’ll do something, but would have been better off not to.

As an urban person with no experience burning wood, what’s the danger difficulty of Flyboy’s plan?

Nobody has pride like Grandma pride!! Congrats to everyone involved.

As my then then-young now-late wife once said upon seeing a semi-stiff rubber one about that size in an adult toy store:

Interesting to look at, but what could you do with it?

Of course, as with all male thinking on all topics:

If some is good, then more is better, and wretched excess is just barely enough.

There was a scene in Network or Kentucky Fried Movie or something similar from the mid-late 1970s that was exactly that. We see two folks goin’ at it in a bed and between the grunting & whatnot we hear the quiet voiceover of two announcers calling the action, discussing degree of difficulty for the various moves, etc. “I think the judges will really like that back-handed ass caress; such finesse!” (or something similar)

If I remembered more I’d sure find you a cite. The skit lasted maybe 30 seconds tops, but for the era it was pretty amazing.

Reasonable progress.

Do not judge your accomplishments versus the scale of the total task; whether it’s a mouse or an elephant you can only eat it one bite at a time.

You took 3 good bites, and de-prioritized a fourth. That’s a good day’s work. Thinking of it that way is a) more intellectually honest, and b) far more emotionally supportive.

And with that I’ve caught up through Monday and will address Tuesday’s posts later.

Off to feed upon tacos and 'ritas! Albeit not necessarily in that order of priority.

Cheers all!

And… I skimmed.

I will probably appeal. It makes me angry, but not just for me, also for anyone else who has an ‘invisible’ issue. I mean, just because I think about driving into a tree and don’t do it, I must be ok, right? How do you prove what’s going on in my head?

I won’t talk about that much more right now. As of this time, I do have a second interview for a job in the same field. However, I honestly don’t know if I would be able to handle doing the job given the extenuating circumstances in my life and mind.

Anyways… This week is crazy. Hopefully I’ll jump back in again soon.

And a good early evening all. Made it to the gym and probably pedaled more than I needed too, the bike computers said I used up 1,000 calories, so came home and had a mid-day snack of two White Castles and a small bag of Lays, so the Mac-n-Cheese I plan to have for dinner will come later tonight. They are still expecting rain, but now it’s for 2-3am in the morning, which is fine by me.

Hippie, I think we’ll figure out who you are. :grinning:

Cookie, at least the shopping is done (for a day or two at least). 84F here so the AC is getting some work, as are the ceiling fans.

Flyboy, not so much with tunnels, but going to-from soccer practice here, I can change from rain to sun 2-3 times in a 15 minute drive. Weather be weird everywhere.

nellie, did you get drenched or not? The world wonders.

Hope so, LH75 pulls up in Google as Lufthansa Flight 75 from Dusseldorf to Frankfurt, Germany, which is much too long for an MMP name…

FCM, never had a bread maker, but for right now I am curious about it; how difficult is it to make when you have limited cooking skills like me? Fresh bread does sound good.

I presume that’s the years worked or a typo…Jersey Mike’s does make a "sub in a tub’, which is sort of salad-like.

Pilot, feel for you and your banking problems. I wonder if someone has been using your ID for that college, might want to keep an eye on that (or more probably, they are idiots).

I’ve never added peanut butter or for that matter, anything else, to an apple; just crunch and chew. Had my second one a bit ago, I think I still lean toward the Red Delicious, but may try the Cosmic Crisp next go-round.

OK, need to put on the minimum clothing necessary to go check the mailbox and then begin preparations for dinner. Take care all.
