Travel well, FCM and spouse!
We have a local construction company owned by an Italian American family. They are allowed to pronounce it any way they please but the pronunciation is not proper
Evidently my usual pizza order is not common. When I call in an order they always ask "Is that you, Peter?
Like every time FCD passed the bar on our deck, Harvey called out “Strawberry daquiri, blended?”
Our bags are in the hall. Very little remains in the room. Less than 12 hours aboard remaining. Countdown…
What’s your usual order? (Mine is meat – sausage, pepperoni, or beef - onions, and black olives.)
Heard grumbling from the sky a couple minutes ago. Seems we have a severe thorm watch (started two hours ago) until 9:00. Currently 82F/28C, heat index 90/32.
Oh come on, tell us what you order.
I just heard a jet fly over. It sounded military. Then it occurred to me that Sea Fair starts tomorrow. A hundred miles isn’t that far for a military jet to go (though it didn’t sound like it was in a hurry).
Sitting on a stationary bike pedaling the afternoon away. Shopping only required 2 stops and cost wasn’t bad given that it’s been less than 3 weeks since the July stockup. Everything is in it’s place and nothing much else going on.
The simple order: Ground beef and Canadian Bacon
My wife does not like veggies on pizza
It sounds like you’re pretty close to my weather (92F, 102 HI).
Dang! I generally choose chicken with black olives, onions and mushrooms. She and I would have to do separate pies.
Picked up a few groceries today (Iused the last of the milk in this morning’s coffee) and did phone / paperirk the rest of the day. I need to call the tax person tomorrow to help with the !@#$ing form for taxes on my 401k disbursement. One 401k took care of that over the phone, but with the second, since I’m going to have a monthly check, they want a whole raft of stuff.
Now for chillage.
Your wife is correct. The tomato sauce is way more than enough vegetable/fruit on a pizza.
And a good early evening to all. Back from the gym, had pancakes and bacon at 5pm because I could and later tonight I will have my big bowl O’Sallit, so all is well with the world. Still 88F outside (heat index 100F at 7:40pm), so no real reason to be out of the AC for the rest of the day, so internettin’, readin’ and general slothage will occupy the balance of the evening.
Taters, lets hope that the roofing guys do start on Monday…
Lily, 11 out of how many chapters? (I suspect the answer is as many as you need). Happy writing.
Oopsie, stay cool and if you go to see it, have a jazzy good time. And thanks for the Carmax info, I may stop by there next week and talk to them. Still will depend on when and what new vehicle I get.
FCM, a safe (and on-time) trip home.
And that’s all for now. I’ll try to catch up later tonight.
Hey everyone. I’m going to be short (again) because I’m at a corner in my stitching and don’t want to get distracted.
I just needed to share the sort of quality entertainment we have available here.
I really wanna get seriously zoned and go and sit in the bleachers and laugh my butt off but hubs says folks out this way take their rastling serious so I probably wouldn’t find any new friends.
Howdy Y’all! We had some quality cee-mint pond time for a couple of hours. Clouds started to roll in and we heard distant thunder rumbles. So we showered, et sammiches and achieved nappage. The storm went around us just as I figured it would. We did get a nice rain later on which we watched while we sipped martinis. Sup also got fixed and et. The neighbors have put us to shame with mowage. Tomorrow will be the “coolest” (only 94 ferrets) day for a few days, so I suppose mowage will be accomplished. How I suffer!
JaneDoe42: I don’t get it. Wrestlers are going to sing gospel?
Went to see Men at Work, Christopher Cross and Toto last night! And I can’t believe how tight all those acts still are. Well, with Men at Work, Colin Hay is the last Man standing, ha ha, but his band is on it. Much singing along and cell-certing. And oof, was it hot and muggy. I was pounding water, and all the tears I cried during “Think of Laura” didn’t help. Anyway, I got a Men at Work t-shirt.
Also, I didn’t want to tell anyone about Isabella just yet, not until we’ve at least talked to her, but Mr. Rilch told everyone else in the group. Which is okay, because “Mandy” of the Big Blowout Holiday Parties told us she’d love to have us bring Isabella to her Labor Day party. We said sure! That’s probably the kind of thing she’s supposed to experience: Americans, American food, and American jollification. Also, it occurred to me that Eurovision will probably be on when she’s here. Finally, someone to watch with me!
As for talking to her, that should happen soon. I’m trying to be discreet, but her home country is shaped like footwear*, and she’s six hours ahead of us. So our schedules won’t sync up until mid-day (for us) tomorrow.
*I know the exact village my father’s people left at the turn of the last century. It’s not a tourist destination, so it’s not like she’ll have been there, but I think it’s an interesting story, how an entire community packed up and moved lock, stock and wine barrel to the USA. Not running from anything, not chased out, just looking for work (which they did find).
OMG! That sounds like the outfit who brought rasslin’ to the armory at a teeny tiny town where I used to live about halfway up the Cumberland Plateau. People watching there can be quite entertaining
@Rilchiam , I don’t think you’ll have many problems with the homestay. Of course, there’s always the possibility of getting somebody really flaky, but most of the students are pretty good.
The cool thing about teenagers is that they tend to be better behaved outside of their own home, as I’m constantly reminded by by my own children.
I would just suggest going with the flow and taking clues from how she behaves.
My wife did a homestay with a Japanese family 30 years ago and they still have a great relationship.
I’m tired!! It’s been a long couple of weeks. Osaka is hot. My wife wants to do more sightseeing and go to the expo again, and I may stay behind and just chill.
Up from naptime. Having an Aviation, and curried cod with cauliflower. Watching F1 Free Practice.
Could be training. One time at band camp RDU airport, 2 USMC Harriers stopped in at the General Aviation terminal for a quick fill up.
Looks like something you’d find in Fayettenam.
I know, right! I think it would be a hoot, but Hubs is being an old fuddy-duddy and it wouldn’t be any fun alone.
And dang, I used too many consonants and not enough vowels for rasslin’. Thanks, I really am tryin’.
You know as much as I do now
Her name was a bit of a giveaway. I hope you all have a wonderful experience!
Breakfast is good no matter what time of day it is!
There is a place a few hours away that makes a white, roasted garlic pizza that is to die for.
Back 40 years ago when we lived in a place with pizza delivery, our fav was called “Heart Attack in a Box” It was white sauce, three white cheeses, LOTS of garlic and pepperoni. We liked to add mushrooms.
Have safe and uncomplicated travels!
Thank you for sharing your experience. Happily it isn’t happening to me, but it is helpful to know what to look for when/if I change my dosage. Thank again
Toe cramps are the very worse!
We went out to do errands today and ended up looking at the huge gatoraide section at Krogers. There were other electrolytic replacement drinks (including Pediolite) but the Gatoraide was less expensive that the rest. I wanted to buy a 8-pack because that was the most cost effective, but Hugs didn’t want me to have to drink that much of something I didn’t like. So I bought a bottle of “Crisp and cool”. Despite being watery white, it tasted blue.
While we were doing things we stopped at Capt. D’s for lunch. I noticed a couple about our age on the other side of the dining area and thought she was wearing Navajo jewelry. While there were Native Americans here in the past, they mostly got deported or killed so there isn’t much of a presence anymore.
Plus, the Navajo people were in the west. So, I kept looking and wondering if I was right and she noticed me looking and smiled so I thought she was probably nice. The man she was with was also wearing Navajo jewelry and had the right body shape and skin color for a Navajo. Finally I got up and walked across the empty dining room to tell her that she didn’t have a spot on her white blouse, I was staring because I thought I was seeing Navajo jewelry.
They were both very happy to be recognized. He was a Yavapai Navajo and she was wearing the wedding jewelry he had made for her.
We live in a big country, but it is still a very small world.
Thanks for asking! 11 of 14.
