(Old) Water spots be us, our new MMP

Last week you all said we should, so here it is.

Carry on.

First!! So much juvenile!

Shout-out to the nice lady towards the end of my shift tonight. I said my standard, “Have a great night!” and she cheerfully replied, “I hope yours is even better!”

D’aaaawwwwwww.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/63f with a predicted high of 20c/68f and cloudy. Weather app says “Best day ever! Oh, wait, I was thinking of a fucking different day. Forget I fucking said anything.”

It’s sunny out there although there are some dark grey clouds on the horizon. We are having breakfast with our friends before starting the long drive home. Festival was really good and we bought early bird tickets for next year already!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 77 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and partly cloudy. TWPTB say a rainy week after today. We will see. The big item on today’s agenda is men’s night over to the church house. Thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. We will go over early to do setup and prep as is our wont. Until then we shall be our usual RDOS selves.

Hippie happy doperversary!

BBBOO thanks for startin’ us off. I saw your review of Panera, along with those of a couple other folks. This confirms what I already thought. If’n I leered at OYKW when I sat a sammich before him, he would be suspicious that I had done sump’n like use :: shudder :: Miracle Whip. :: shudder :: I now have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a roast beast and cheddar sammich.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

I’ve got my procedure today. I’m starving, although after drinking all that water I feel bloated. Wish me luck, and I hope they don’t find anything.

Good luck!

You’ll be fine.

Thanks! It has been 26 years

Morning all. Up, pilled, and had my morning banana, so all is right with the world. Have to do the morning shopping and sammich run in a couple of hours but outside of that nothing much on the agenda. Temperature is only 75F now, but due to reach 94F later, so the summer doldrums are well and truly here. Need to call my utility provider in an hour or so about my bill and see what’s what. Otherwise sloth and RDOS activities will be the measure of my day.

Happy doperversary Hippie.

shoe, when a clerk or other ‘service folks’ tell me to have a good day, I always try to remember to say ‘you too’ back to them. A small thing, I know, but it can’t burt…

boo fae, have a safe drive home.

VanGo, hope the procedure goes well and you can cease starving.

And onward into the week!

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 51°F and mostly cloudy. Mostly cloudy skies will clear to partially cloudy in a couple of hours, with an expected high temperature of 81°F.

Happy Doperversary, Hippie.

JtC, to address your comment in last week’s MMP about the crappy neighbors, no, it’s not them; it would be the others.

VanGo, I hope your procedure goes well.

I need to wash sheets and towels today, and that’ll probably be all I do, other than cleaning the kitchen and sweeping the kitchen floor. I dunno, we’ll see. I have some clothes bundled for donation, and I need to drop them off as well.

That’s about all the news from these parts. I’m not sure when the roofing guys are supposed to show up this week. If I don’t hear anything by noon, I will contact them. They were supposed to call last Thursday or Friday, but they didn’t.

Okay, on with the day. Please take care of yourselves.

I do care about water spots, so that’s why I’ll always have shower curtains rather than sliding glass shower doors. When the curtain gets grody after a couple of years of use, it gets tossed and I treat myself to a new $5 curtain from Walmart.

Today’s tasks: make peach habanero jam, go to pharmacy for a couple of scrips, and maybe take down some can lights in the dining room so they can be cleaned. I just noticed the other day that they’re grungy with airborne cooking grease and dust and they need a good bath in Krud Kutter.

Don’t get all frantic - I’m here! We had a really good excursion this morning and we’re currently slothing at a late lunch. Our morning trip was to a viking ship museum, then a hot springs area, ending with a drive as close a roads allowed to the current eruption zone. It was too hazy to see anything, but we did drive over a stretch of road that had been lava’d earlier in the year. They’d, obviously, repaired the road.

On either side there was very black cooling lava. The guide said when the top layer solidified, it acted as an insulator so the rest stayed hot for a long time. He also said the only rescues the local squads would not do was into lava fields. I wish I’d had my camera at the ready but I was too busy gawking.

On the way back, we saw a KFC, a Pizza Hut, and Costco!

We’re leaving Reykjavik in a few hours and tomorrow is a sea day. I’m about to find a comfy place to read while my sweetie naps. More later.

MetalMouse - in response to a comment you made in the last MMP, the disorganized trip yesterday was not booked thru the ship. I went thru Expedia. They will hear from me.

Happy Moanday!

May it go well.

Happy cake day! Do y’all find it odd that a lot of us joined this time of year?

That sounds good!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a pot of pintos on the stove and fixing to do KP. I have several phone calls to make this morning, but the rest of the day will be spent packing and RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

You’ve got 20 years on me, no matter how hard I pedal I’ll never catch up.

Congrats!

Krud Kutter doesn’t work on grotty shower curtains? >ducks and runs<

Good luck, I hope they don’t find anything either!

Oh, well, in that case. Nev-er-mind! Being on good terms with the good neighbors is important too.

I hope your roofers have better communication skills than our window replacement guys did. They did excellent work and I’m happy with the windows. We spent far too much time chasing them down for specific dates than should have been needed.

I’ve always tossed them in the washing machine with a little bleach.

Peach habanero jam sounds wonderful, I’ve never heard of such a thing and now find myself wondering where I can get some habaneros.

This morning started with a blood draw and then breakfast at Tudor’s. While I was waiting to be called for the needle, a gentleman about my age came in with dark maroon legs covered with blisters. Apparently, last week his wife convinced him that they should go on a cruise to Mexico. He went to sleep by the pool and nobody noticed him broiling under the sun. Now the poor man’s legs are covered in painful blisters that will probably scar and is under doctor’s care for the infection and fever.

He was in pretty grumpy good spirits though. “Go on a cruise she says. It will be fun!”

We don’t have a lot of plans for the day, Hubs isn’t feeling well. He’s not sick, just off. I think he’s tired and stressed but he’s not going to admit that. I’ve got a mess of chicken thighs that need to be turned into taco filling but if I don’t do it today, I can do it tomorrow.

One of the capital guards really likes my rolled chicken tacos and I like having him close to hand so will continue to feed him and anyone else who gets close. Now that I’m done with my eye surgeries and fully off all restrictions, I’m back to my Sundays and Wednesdays at the capital.

Unload was down by 0545, and they had the sort tables cleared by 0630. But it took till 0830 to clean up all the missorts, and shrink wrap the giant auger so it would go out. I was out by 0930, and did my Aldi run, and came home. I’ve had my dry, flavorless bits and now it’s naptime.

Keep calm and squeegee on. - dogbutler

Well, let’s hope they find the bits that are supposed to be there, but nothing else.

:champagne: :shortcake: :partying_face:HAPPY DOPERVERSARY HIPPIE!!!:partying_face::shortcake::champagne:

My kitchen sink has been running slooooow the last few days and now the plumber is here. I will be observing the clearage of the clog.

You go, girl! Huge respect and appreciation to you for what you’re doing. You’re doing it for all of us.

I finally found a cane with a folding seat on FB Marketplace, so when there are protests down the street from me at my Capital I can do it too. My state is so red that we don’t muster those even every week, but I’ll be ready when we do. With my oxygen concentrator, my handicapped parking tag and my ‘ta da seat cane’.

Afternoon all - A bit after 12 noon as I commence to drivel.

We had a fine reunion yesterday. I got to make sympathetic noises while she vented for about 90 minutes then we had some stress relieving sessions, then out for a late snack of mussels & champagne, a beachfront walk in the dark, a gelato, then home for more stress relief then sleeping.

I was up early; she was … not. She’s done about 15x the useful effort in the last month than I have, so she sure earned that extra 3h of sleep. We only had time to shevel, have a pleasant breakfast, then I drove her to the other train station nearer to her house where she’d left her car for the last 2 weeks. We then had our heartfelt good-byes until midweek next week at best. She’s now at the eye doc for a complicated semi-annual check for something glaucoma-like, and I’m back home blathering.

Read all of the end of the last MMP and all of this one to date. Not a lot stuck, but here are some highlights that did.

Sensei is clearly the perfect name for this guy; his parenting wisdom is the stuff of legend.

And darn glad wetone is getting the sink declogged. I hope it wasn’t peed in; that might surprise the plumber.

BBBoo: doing all that driving w an easily worked up ASD/ADHD sounds like the labors of a saint. As to what the school hoped to accomplish: “The minimum amount that lets them claim federal reimbursement, and allows them to get the difficult kids out of their hair ASAP.”

And last, but far from least …

This is a bit of a head-scratcher. We have a beverage package that allows us up to 15 drinks a day, whether soda, coffees, or alcohol costing up to $11 (or $13? can’t recall) and if it costs more, we’d just have to pay the difference. We mainly use it for diet coke, but a few times, FCD has gotten a strawberry daquiri. The other night, he decided to mix it up a bit and got a piña colada. And there was a charge for $1.18 on our statement - a buck plus the mandatory 18%. I don’t get why the piña colada costs more - he didn’t ask for premium booze. I’m not fussing about the extra cost, but I do wonder why. Since I pretty much don’t drink, I guess I’m missing some subtle difference based on the booze? Just weird.

It’s about an hour away from dropping the lines and heading back to sea. Next stop is Runavík in the Faroe Islands on Wednesday. Till then, just kick back and enjoy the ride. Wonder what’s for supper tonight?
