(Old) Water spots be us, our new MMP

Late evening final but there is nothing to report except i redid my 3-month budget based on my Home Insurance (and in September I have my property tax due..oh joy) so that is calculated. Will head off to bed soon, have replaced most of the calories but still short about 400 of them (I calculate how much is in what I eat - what I burn in exercise and compare to what someone without to active a lifestyle needs to see how i am doing).

shoe, enjoy the time off.

nellie, hope the aura goes away along with the back pain.

JtC, nice of you to set up the laptop for your sitter.

Hippie, “hit’em with a brick” is always a good tactic.

And that’s all he wrote. Catch y’all tomorrow.

All I can offer is Heinlein’s advice: When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout.

Hear, hear!

I’ve seen her in two movies – that one and True Grit – and it’s hard to think of two more different characters. Same with Christopher Plummer – The Sound of Music and The Silent Partner.

Here’s a classic moment in the history of Australian rules football.

So… 2:20 to get to irk this morning because of the construction on the 5, and (surprisingly) 2:50 to get home. We had the staph meeting from 10:00 to 11:45, then the ‘company picnic’. Then I had a one-on-one with La Jefa at 14 o’clock. Since I’ve been moved upstairs, I’m sharing an orifice with two other people; one of whom is talkative. So I didn’t get much done today. I get more done when I telecommute.

The Spousal Unit texted me on the way home.

Her: Are we doing anything this weekend

Me: I don’t know.

Her: We are going whale watching :spouting_whale:

That sounds like fun. We took the same cruise years ago. We didn’t see any whales.

I like raisins in oatmeal cookies - and I add a bit more than the recipe calls for. So there! :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re just pulling in to Runavik having broken thru the very thick fog. I fear our tour won’t be very scenic as Torshavn is on the coast, bur I hope I’m proved wrong.

Rough night last night. I did something to my back yesterday, possibly when I pulled the suitcases out from under the bed, and I was in a lot of pain. It still hurts this morning - putting my shoes on was an adventure - but I can walk more easily, so I’m hoping it’ll loosen up as I walk around.

Tonight’s entertainment is a comic. He can’t be as bad as the last one, right? Right? TBD

Ok, breakfast is done. Time to mosey to the theater to wait for our bus. Happy Wednesday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Fool brought a knife to a brick fight.

Fun as long as the Oregon DOT doesn’t get involved.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/62f with a predicted high of 20c/67f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “All the fucking clouds are dirty, lurking bastards.” I’m not so sure, they look ok to me and it’s my kind of weather out there.

Not really - the content was the usual rubbish, and lunch was very “meh”. The early finish was the best bit!

shoe enjoy the bonus time off!

nellie hope your aura and back pain both decide to go and bug someone else.

That’s exactly what I told my manager about the one day of the week when everyone’s in the office. Too much chatter, and I get pretty much nothing done.

Not much going on here today, I have been logged into work for a couple of hours after tending to the mogs and having a shower. My manager has asked for a meeting this afternoon because she wants to talk to me about something before I have a meeting tomorrow with one of my minions. I am pretty sure I know what it’s about and I’m not sure how we are going to deal with the emerging situation but she says she wants my thoughts on it.

On the plus side, I’m seeing friends tonight for our usual pub night, and I have to go shopping at lunchtime as we’re running low on cat food but I can get that from the normal supermarket so I can pick up a few bits for me at the same time.

Good morning!

Annie and I are rested and ready to take on the world! At least until it’s time to take a nap. Probably a slow day other than dropping off my excess art stuff. Oh, and finishing laundry.

FCM, hope your back feels better soon.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 87 with rain this afternoon and evenin’. The big item on today’s agenda is to procure provisions which we will do later this mornin’, as the executive decision has been made to get fried chikin lunches from the Pubic sto’ for today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day shall be spent in high RDOS inactivities especially with the rain. It’s a good thing to be inside and dry.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, I suppose I should purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. I do hope all that effort is appreciated!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Back from our excursion. The museum was really interesting but the tour of the town was on foot. With my backache, ain’t no way I up to an hour long stroll. So FCD and I moseyed around the little marina where the bus parked and checked out the local vessels. Then we went back to the bus early to await the rest of the crowd.

On the way, we did go thru the tunnel with the roundabout - my pics aren’t great but nothing is from a moving bus. There are 3 roads meeting at the roundabout. The guide said the tunnels opened at the end of 2020, and since that was still isolation time, many families made an outing of driving thru the tunnels in the various directions.

Not sure what the rest of the day holds. We leave port at 3:30, which is earlier than our normal 7:30 departures. Anyway, not much else on this afternoon’s agenda.

@Rilchiam We had a German girl for six weeks. SenGirl has stayed at their home for three months.

Did you say how long is the homestay?

It’s not a big deal, really. Sorry for not knowing this, but do you have kids? How old is the girl?

It was a lot of fun. The girl was really independent and was good at entertaining herself but every one is different.

The regatta is finished !! No major problems and we finished all the races.

I got a lot of compliments from everyone about how well SenGirl did, both on shore and when she went out to help on the water. The parents and coaches were happy to have someone take responsibility and be helpful.

SenBoy didn’t do as well as he wanted but he tried hard. He makes friends easily and had a lot of fun with his teammates and new kids he met this year from other countries.

We make team t-shirts and then the kids exchange them with people from other countries. SenBoy exchanged 5 or 6. I managed to exchange three myself, including one with the passionate Italian coach.

It’s so weird to be so involved with something like this and then it suddenly ends.

This ^^ needs to be on a t-shirt.

With this job, I am always off on Mondays. (Why? Cuz we’re closed!) Then all the full-time folks get one other non weekend day off.

If your happy ass wants a Friday/Saturday off, though, you gotta ask way in advance. And you better have a damn good reason.

I thought you were a hippy?

This, and …

… is really all that matters.

You done good by your kids, good sir.

I understood that reference. Will always remember the Dave Barry column about it.

And I would buy it.

Good morning all, arose about 6am and had the morning apple about 7, now trying to resist over-snacking until soup-n-sammich time. Another pretty Meh-day on the horizon, the weather wizards say minimal chance of rain the next couple of days and it’ll get to 95F today, so another good day for being inside.

Herald, watched that clip, the most amazing part was the guy that got kneed in the head got up and moved to position like it was the most common thing in the world to be kneed in the head…Aussies be weird.

Flyboy, boo fae, I retired before the Great Infection, so never had the opportunity to work from home, I think I would not have been as productive as you folks are, too many distractions on-line for me. But seems to work great for you.

Nice of her to let you know…

FCM, hope the comic at least made you grin among the backache woes.

Sensei, sounds like you and wife raised a couple of great kids..(not that they would ever admit it in your hearing…), And yeah, I’m involved with soccer tournaments, it’s always a day or two before I come back down to a normal routine.

And that’s all I have for the early report. Have a good Hump Day all.

Raisins in cookies is why people have trust issues.

This would be a splendid bumper sticker.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 59°F with a few high clouds. Partly cloudy skies are expected to clear later, with a forecasted high of 87°F.

I called my rep at the roofing company, and left a message. Someone called me back within a couple of hours. And, then someone else called me another couple of hours after that. During the first call, the individual stated that there had been a delay, and the roof wouldn’t be installed until sometime next week, with the gutters to be installed the following week. Supposedly, a supervisor will be calling me on Thursday or Friday with a firm date for next week. I explained to the second guy that I can understand delays, but I expect communication when there is a delay. I was told late last week all was a go for this week, and I found it frustrating that I had to track them down to get an answer. What I didn’t say is if there is another screw up, I will be cancelling and finding another company. I can probably find a less expensive alternative anyway.

I don’t mind raisins in cookies. I used to make oatmeal cookies with golden raisins and chocolate chips. They were tasty.

Nellie, I’m sorry your back is still giving you issues. I hope things calm down soon.

FCM, seems like backs are an issue for many of us this week, including me. I hope your back pain is gone soon.

Metal Mouse, I loved working from home because I got so much more work done. The only negative was probably the fact that I put in more hours because the laptop was “right there” and it would only take a couple of minutes. It helped that I had a separate WFH space (the bonus room), so I could separate work from my home life. I still find myself hesitating in front of the WFH door like I’m going to check some email or something.

Shoe, yay for good days! I hope they continue.

Sensei, it sounds like everything went great! I’m glad it was such a positive experience.

Johnny, I’m glad the commutes went relatively well. I’ve driven through that stuff coming back from Mount Vernon and points further north. I always dreaded that part of the drive.

I’m considering getting a pedicure today or tomorrow. My husband stated that he wants to go to the grocery store today, so if he does, I’ll put off the pedicure until tomorrow.

Welp, it’s that time again. I need to finish my coffee and get the last of the dishes in the dishwasher. May you all have a smooth and easy day.

I like the way you think!

I’m going to miss the Pubic Sto’s fried chicken (and their mojo poke at the Sam Ridley location) when I move. Alas, no Pubic Sto in Houston.

I remember those days from when I worked in food service. You were always out of step with friends and family who planned group stuff for the weekends. It was that way when I irked in a nursing home (we did get every other weekend off, which, if you had other family in the same position, you tried to get the weekend in sync) and when I irked at the meat packing plant (first contract, they only had to give us one day every 28 off, second, two every 14). I also worked weekends for several years at my last employer, but I did get M-T off.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of clothes ready for the dryer and fixing to do KP.

I have a couple of phone calls this morning, then I’ll take out the trash and resume packing. Today’s goals are the small electric appliances (crock pot, rice cooker, immersion blender and coffee grinder) and bakeware (I don’t bake in this apartment during AC season).

I got through the last of the whole bean coffee yesterday. I had picked up some ground Cuban coffee to use in the espresso pot for iced coffee until the move. I may have to adjust the amount of coffee I drink for a bit if I ever want to sleep again. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

We’re leaving from Fairhaven (Bellingham).

Lunch will be served, but I won’t eat it because of carbs (lasagna). I can have a Caesar salad though. Maybe I’ll bring some baked chicken with me.

Hot, humid and stormy. Not the names of someone’s cats, either. A weeklong event for MSP. Luckily, our AC is keeping up.

A weird thing yesterday: the local NBC affiliate had a transformer blow up at their studio, and the station went dark. It came back up last evening when the news team relocated to the transmission site and did the news without makeup, teleprompters, etc., and did it in low definition. It was like watching TV from the 50s. Everyone was slightly blurry and looked like they just got up from a nap. No estimate as to when their studio will be operable.

Breakfasted and exercised; the latter was isometrics, so I’ll feel it tomorrow. Finished the paper crosswords, now off to the NYT site for their offerings.

Well, that was a bit of stress I didn’t need. British Air wanted me to update some info before our trip on Sat, and that’s when I discovered that they’d moved us from aisle/window to middle/aisle. I’d paid extra for the aisle/window, so I was just a bit, shall we say, miffed. Turns out it’s a different type plane with a different interior configuration.

Lucky for me, BA has a chat function and a very nice agent helped me get it all straightened out. We again have aisle/window, tho on the other side of the plane and closer to the front. I’m just glad I won’t be in a middle seat, and FCD will have a window to lean against should he fall asleep. I also downloaded a transcript of the chat just in case.

Like I needed that crap!! :stuck_out_tongue: I do love having the chat available. It saves me from either dealing with accents or other reasons to have to ask from repeats. Anyway, it’s all good now.

We have just left the dock in Runavik and we’re headed to Lerwick, Shetland Islands, scheduled to drop anchor around 7:00 in the morning. Last port of call before we hit Dover and bus to London. The days count down. I’m ready to be home.

I couldn’t do that. I loathe 2/3 of those things.
