(Old) Who, me? I started the MMP today!

That sounds really good, especially the haggis and the back bacon – who did you order it from?

Got our new kitchen sink installed this afternoon. Like the old one, it’s a double; unlike the old one, it’s asymmetrical, with one side larger and deeper than the other. Now we can set our frying pans in it, fill them with water, and let them soak if necessary. With the old sink the only way to soak them was to put them in standing on their edge, with the handle sticking out, then run enough water into the sink to submerge them.

While I’m thinking about it: Happy birthday, everyone! Or a belated “Happy birthday” if you’ve already had your birthday this year. (Now I don’t have to worry about missing anybody.)

As a fellow Beatles fan … that is SO COOL!

{ twitch }

Here ya go.

Those things are awesome.

Had a rather blurfy last coupla days, complete with random leg cramps. Car(e)less called out yesterday, but when S.M. asked if I’d come in - and she always makes it clear that there’s no obligation - I was like, “I feel really rough, and I’d really rather rest some more.”

STILL felt like the ass end of ass today, asked Car(e)less if he’d close for me. Sure!! … got my hopes up for a short shift … Nope!! He forgot he was already closing tonight because he swapped with Grandma for not coming in yesterday.

{ sigh }

So I just … dragged myself through my shift. Everyone was really lenient about my constantly plunking my butt down.
Usually, between customers, I actively LOOK for stuff to do (one can almost always find a task) but not today, Satan. Not today.

A CBD/CBN/CBG edible helped a bit.

Now I’m awaiting my baked stuffed chicken boobie, and looking significantly forward to crawling into bed.

Even without the door, it reminded me of one of the little chapels that dot the countryside in Luzern. Even more so with the door. Like this one. There’s a lot of them along the Jakobsweg, which is part of the Camino de Santiago.

Coincidentally this is the first post under my personal “last visit” line. Works for me. Thank you.

New sink sounds good. We went with a single sink for a similar reason. We can fit a baking sheet, which is sized for our oven, sitting flat at the bottom of the sink. So frying pans are no problem.

Tofu pudding isn’t that bad. As long as I know it’s tofu. If I’m expecting dairy, it’s quite a shock.

And I really like tofu if it’s breaded and pan fried.

Rough night. Hope you sleep well. :person_in_bed:

We have today off and we’re going to the big town of Gruyere (population 2200) to visit the castle and the HR Giger museum. HR Giger designed the alien and the alien’s environment for the movie Alien.

Probably will buy some cheese as well. Because Gruyere. And I just now added some stamp and a pen to my bad, so if I pick up any postcards, I can throw them directly in the mail.

Weather is typical March. Drizzle with sun expected in the afternoon. 2°C/35°F with a high of 6°C/42°F.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Cheese and Xenomorphs? I’m in!

Hopefully a sleep without any Monkey business going on.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 1c/34f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “The sun is fucking worthless today. Thanks for the light, asshole. How about some fucking heat?” Yes, it’s chilly out there but there’s a bit of brightness in the sky so hopefully we’ll see some sun later.

Happy birthday, Dicey

I’m feeling a bit lurgified today, got a fuzzy head and a sore throat so definitely in need of a quiet day and hopefully no drama in the office and no nasty surprises from the Travel Gods.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 73 and partly cloudy. Also a chance of rain late afternoon. We shall see. We are havin’ our St. Patrick’s Day feast over to the church house on Sattidy. Thus, this mornin’ I shall head over around ten to begin the cookin’ and prep. Today is prepare the corned beast time along with peelin’ and hunkin’ up rutabagas, and choppin’ cabbages. There will be two of us there today and tomorrow and a full crew on Sattidy. I am in charge of corned beast, which is the star of the show.

And now this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY DEEEAAARRR DDDIIICCCEEEYYY!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall make myself presentable. Corned beast doesn’t care how I look, but I do.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

A scant three-four hours of truly good, hard, deep sleep, and I already feel better.

Summary

Thanks to finally eating a solid meal AND finally being semi-hydrated, today’s bio-break had a rather … urgent timeframe.
(Woke up, lying there all cozy with a purring kitty, and then whoooop! time to get UP!) Still, good to know some systems are working again

Actually, he curled up with me when I first lay down, and when I woke back up just now, he was in the same spot, sleeping in my arms.
:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Drinking even MOAR water, then hopefully drifting back off to Sleepy-Land.

HAPPY DICEY DAY!!!

My sister swear a spoonful of yellow mustard stops her leg cramps, FWIW.

FCD decided (with a little help from me) that he doesn’t want to go to the boat today - his legs need a rest. So he’ll futz in his shop and I’ll go to Food Lion. But first, we’re going to get some breakfast. He’s in the shower and I’m next!

And it’s my turn. Off I go!!

Happy Birthday, Dicey!!!

Shoe, glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better today.

Good plan, FCM, helping FCD to decide what to do today.

I’ve already been out and picked up a small grocery order from Walmart. Now I’m back and trying to type while dodging the poodle as she tries to lick my elbow.

I’m honestly not feeling fabulous today and may go back to bed in a little bit. I was going to try to go visit the crew over at the clubhouse today, but I just don’t know if I’m up for being that social today. For now I’m going to concentrate on looking for some new AI jobs as the last one that I had has now done the mystery drop off with me. It was a good run, though, something like 1 1/2 years and it funded my new awesome washing machine.

Sometimes I think the Tofu Public Awareness industry would have it easier if the product name didn’t say “Toe Foo.” Yup, that’s the way my silly brain works.
I got on the indoor exercise bike for a while yesterday. Mrs. Nott applauded, adding, "Your body will thank you. Right afterward, my body wasn’t so sure about that.
GS cookie update: we started the Caramel Delights. I think they used to call those Samoas. Oh, my, oh, my! Those are so good!
Boofae, I had hunch that looking up “lurgified” would be a dead end, but I did anyway. Oh, well. Dead ends are interesting side trips, sometimes.

It rained all night, thank goodness, because we need it. I should go to the gym this morning, and hopefully the rain pauses so I can run through the parking lot to get inside. I don’t wanna, but I feel so much better and stronger when I keep up with my workouts.

I found a cake recipe that’s relatively easy and Mr. brown and I just love it. It’s a 9 x 13 yellow cake made with buttermilk, and it has a glazey topping of brown sugar, butter, and chopped nuts of your choice. It freezes well, so we snack on half of it for a few days, and then after a couple of weeks, I bring out the frozen second half and that is (speedily) consumed. It’s a winner. If I was still working, this would be the cake of choice to bring in for potlucks and parties, as it’s pretty durable and transportable.

We have a tradition in our house of going out to “erase” the memory of a poor restaurant by visiting a really good restaurant that serves the same kind of food. A week or two ago we went to a Chinese joint that yelp said was four stars. It was not. It was poorly prepared food and we didn’t like it at all. I hope we can go today to our old standby in Cupertino and get soup dumplings and kung pao chicken of the gods and erase the memory of the icky place.

No, no – it’s “Toe fu”. A very specialised form of kung fu, with hints of savate.

Jolly Posh Foods.

The last batch I got, I put the cooler out on the ‘free corner’ and someone took it quickly. Then like a week later, we needed a cooler to take on a road trip. We’ll keep this one.

My mom makes a butternut pound cake that’s always a hit - she’ll make half a dozen at a time and freeze most of them for future needs, whether it’s for a pot luck, or a post-funeral reception, or a friend’s birthday. It was also popular back when she was catering - many clients asked for it specifically.

We had a nice breakfast at the Mexican place in Charlotte Hall. We went in 2 cars because I wanted to go to the Food Lion in the same shopping center and FCD didn’t. Anyway, we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while, but then Thursday morning isn’t exactly a breakfast-out time, unless you pass Cracker Barrel. We went there on a weekend, and it was packed.

Once we were done, FCD headed to the marina to pick up some stuff we’d left on the boat, and I did my grocerying. Home now, everything put away, and I’m catching up on my usual morning computering. Then, I dunno. It’s drizzly out, so no yard work. I suppose I could rollsuck and load the dishwasher. Or not. Who knows…

And since I forgot earlier - Happy Thursday!!

Good Morning all. Ended up staying awake till well after midnight and then up about 7am, so nappage may be on the agenda today, but feeling good right now. 58F heading to 74F and a 1-in-6 chance of rain today (the best odds for rain are on Saturday, of course…)

You’re entirely welcome.

And a most Happy Orbit Completion Day, Dicey!!

JtC, I measure it these days in milliliters, but around 4000 ml equals a gallon so about the same as you.

Herald, nice idea on the kitchen sink, mine is symmetrical and I know what you mean about fitting things in there.

Well, damn, now I have to dig an underground bunker in the wilderness and stock it for years…I’ll get around to it sometime…

shoe, been through a few shifts in my life that I really, really didn’t feel well (I imagine most of us can remember a few), so sympathies and hope you’re feeling better soon.

boo fae, take care of yourself and hoping for a quiet day.

Sticky Buns, happy job hunting.

lucky, that cake sounds delicious, and that’s a good restaurant tradition, I seldom go into new places but I’ll try and remember it in the future.

And onward into the day. Debating with myself on having pancakes and bacon early, or braunschweiger sammiches later on…decisions, decisions. Take care all.

Time change made for a rough start to the week, so just now getting around to catching up. I sure do enjoy it being daylight later though, and there’s been a marked increase in the number of walkers in the neighborhood.

You might want to look into Cedarcide - a friend uses it to treat her yard to prevent ticks and fleas on her dogs, and has found it very effective (and smells good!).

What monster thinks that’s a good idea?! I don’t mind tofu, but I cannot see any way you could get it to resemble croutons!

I actually have had this before, and it was quite good! A little thicker but otherwise indistinguishable from regular pudding.

Share the recipe please! Sounds delicious

Happy birthday dicey!

I’m familiar with butternut squash but somehow I suspect that’s not an ingredient in your mom’s cake.

No, she uses something like this to give it its distinctive flavor. I’ve never made that cake myself, but if anyone is interested, I can get the recipe.

I’m having the same problem with a certain Siamese cat. First she head butted my coffee cup cause she was so glad to see me, sloshing hot hot hot coffee on my pale pink nightgown (before I’d even had a sip-horrors!). Then the licking starts. Eventually she’ll curl up in my lap and want me to hold completely still for two hours so she can nap, to rest up from being closed out of my bedroom all night while I tried to sleep unmolested by her. With cats it’s always “pay me now or pay me later”.

Bit of a warming trend here in western Mitten State, and since I’ve given up on sleeping in (welllllll, I miiiiiight take a lil’ snooze before tonight’s shift, but I feel like I’ve - finally - gotten all the sleep I needed) I hauled both of my plants back outside so they can get sunshine and, hopefully, rain.

There’s a chance of a mild freeze Sunday night, so they’re near my door in case they need to be rescued, but if that forecast goes up a few degrees … well, we shall see.

Oh, man, ain’t that the truth.
