I’ve been waiting for y’all but no one jumped in to start, so Annie encouraged me to go for it.
Didn’t have anything worthwhile to say just yet.
From last week:
Happy anniversary!!!
Up and off to build a boat. My back is killing me.
Have a good week, y’all.
Slept with Mel till 8 this morning!! I might still have been in bed, but FCD asked "What time do you have to leave?
YOIKS!!!
I’ve got a cardiologist appt at 9!! So I’ve showered, dressed, and inhaled a piece of toast. Caffeination continues. I’ll be grabbing my purse and keys in about 5 minutes and heading to Hollywood. No, not that one…
Afterwards, it’s purse shopping, possibly a quick stop at the Mart of the Wall, and a final stop at Aldi. Pretty, mild day forecast, so that’ll be nice. But don’t look for me till this afternoon.
Happy Moanday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and rainy, which will go away soon, with a predicted high of 57 and cloudy. I need to get a couple of ‘scripts refilled, but want to be a hermit today. Besides tomorrow promises better weather. Also, from Wednesday through next Moanday I will be required to people. I deserve to be a RDOS hermit today. Sup will be poke roast, field peas, rutabagas, mac ‘n cheese and rolls. That will be productive.
Lily happy anniversary to your lovely wife and you!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Moanday Y’all!
Good morning, everyone.
Yesterday I worked hard over homemade enchilada sauce and a bean dish. We had chicken enchiladas and pink beans in a sauce seasoned with bacon, poblano chiles, tomato, cilantro and onion. It was a big thumbs-up meal, and Mr. brown had seconds. That enchilada sauce was quite hot, though. I could only eat 1.5 enchiladas before the Scoville points made me stop.
Today we’ll go for a walk at a local rural county park. The trail leads next to a seasonal pond, and last year about this time there were gobs of teeny tiny frogs hopping all around the edges. I hope I’ll see them again this year.
Then it’s off to a nursery to see if they have herb starters yet. I’d like some Thai basil, some chives, some Italian basil, and some tarragon. I have the pots and the planting mix all ready to go, so hopefully I can find what I want today. There’s a lot of rain in the forecast starting Wednesday, and that’ll be good for newly-planted starters.
They are so gorgeous. My sister has a cat that looks much like the fuzzbutt on the left.
I am off to the eye dr to see if my catarac is ripe enough. Also to get my new yearly glasses.
Its 50 degrees and going up.
Morning all. A pretty looking day, 49F heading to near 70F later, so not bad or early Spring. I start my “personal training” at the gym today, it was due to start 6-7 weeks ago but got derailed by my hernia surgery. I’ve lost the weight I wanted to, now I want to get into an exercise routine to ‘tone up’ the various body parts that I have reduced and I know nearly nothing about weight training, so several months of this should help. Start at 3pm (the joys of retirement) and go from there.
Will do my shopping and sammich run in about an hour, have a Jersey Mike’s coupon for ‘buy one, get one free’ so might use that and let them feed me for the day.
BooFae, I was up about 3:30am to perform bladder relief and thought about starting the MMP, but I was standing right next to my bed when I thought about it, and the gravitational pull from the mattress was too strong to resist…
Knots, a most happy and joyous anniversary!
As I can see from your posted picture. Lovely felines.
FCM, glad you made it to your appointment; guess FCD does have his uses…
lucky, enjoy the walk and the plants.
And that’s the start. Have a good week all.
jtc, sooooo adorable!
ugh, time change. i did fairly well this morning. i usually do well for the first few work days, then hit the spring forward wall. it doesn’t help that pollen is starting.
this morning i just made the shuttle by seconds. once on the shuttle i caught up with a neighbour on his son’s college choices. so far he has gotten into one of the schools to which he applied. he finished his last audition last week. he should be hearing from the other schools soon. he is a violinist and composer.
once i got off the shuttle, there was a bernese mountain dog! the pup was having a bit of a sit down and ear scratch. pup came up to me to say hello and i got in some head rubs and scritches. a nice start to the day, that.
Supposed to hit 61F today. Crazy weather.
We managed to get ourselves up early enough to breakfast before exercise, although the wife just told me she’s not going.
We also need to hit the grocery for some essentials, then Costco later in the week for bacon and butter.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/49f with a predicted high of 11c/51f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking overcast from where you’re sitting. If you were in a fucking plane, you could say that it’s undercast.” So you could, and it was sunny when I went out earlier but definitely clouded over now.
Annie’s quite right! I started the last one as I was up before you lot over there, I’m all for letting other people have a turn
Great, but not when you have a 9am appointment! I hope you weren’t feeling too rushed when you got there, not good for the whole cardiology thing…
You deserve it! You’ll be pleased to hear that one of my friends has cancelled her US trip booked for Utah and some national parks, and is going to Canada instead. And those kittehs are adorable
Knots a very happy anniversary to you and your lovely wife!
I hope it goes well and you have fun learning some new techniques!
I’ve had a busy morning, got up early and washed my hair, logged into work for a bit, then took 'im indoors to the station, came back and logged back into work. I’ve had a meeting, dealt with a minor skip fire from last week, and sent my minions some instructions on a task I need them to complete.
I logged out again at lunchtime and went to do the grocery shopping so that’s all done now as well. I bought some ciabatta rolls and used one for lunch with ham and some salad bits. I have another one for tomorrow’s lunch which will be something to look forward to.
I have a couple of things to get done this afternoon, then I have an appointment with the dental hygienist at 5pm so I’ll be glad to get that out of the way. Then back home for a quiet evening, just me and the cats.
Got there by 9 as directed, was taken back to an exam room at 9:45… At least the doc came in within 5 minutes. But dang!!! Anyway, all is good and he wants a follow-up in 6 months. I foresee stretching that out unless something happens in the interim. It seems a waste of his time and mine when I have no obvious issues. My family doc just wanted me checked out, since I’m getting all ancient and stuff. So we’ll see what I do come August.
Roxy has been bugging Daughter about straightening her hair - not as a permanent thing but just to see what it would be like. Daughter had bought a wand/iron for just that thing, so she gave it a shot last night:
As soon as there’s the slightest bit of humidity, she’ll be all curly and poofy again, but it’s nice to see she has options. it does get me thinking again how those with curly hair want it straight and those (like me) with straight hair wish it had a bit of curl. is anyone every happy with their hair as it is? I can honestly say I’m rather pleased that even at my advanced age, I’ve no gray yet. But I’d trade gray for a little more body.
Home again - duh! I found a purse at Kohl’s that pretty much met all my criteria. It’s gray, it has a pocket for my phone and some pens, it’s smaller than the other purse, but there are enough zipper pockets to keep most of what I like to carry in convenient sections. I did have to remove the little notebook and replace it with a small pad of paper, but that’s no biggie. Plus it was on sale, and on Moandays they give 15% off to veterans, so SCORE!!!
I bought gas at $2.699 - lowest I’ve seen around here in ages. I got most of what I wanted at Aldi, but I passed on the $6 eggs. I still have a dozen and a half and we don’t eat a whole lot of them. I still need to go get my glasses adjusted, but I had to come home to put the cold stuff in the fridge and have some lunch.
You can tell spring is here - the Amish farmers are in the fields with horses and plows. And I passed a BIG tractor driving down the road, so the other fields will be plowed and planted soon. Coming up on my favorite time of year, altho it doesn’t last nearly as long as I’d like.
OK, time to finish lunch then head to the eye doc’s office.
Afternoon all. One Jersey Mike’s sammich is in the refrigerator and the other is in my belly, so that went according to plan. Stopped at Dick’s to look at Sweatpants, since I have a 20% off coupon for this weekend, and jeez..$60! $72! I just want something comfortable to lounge around the house in, not train for the Olympics. So on a whim I stopped at a new thrift store they opened near me (it’s interesting, we have a very middle-class area with lots of new homes and apartments going up, but we also have a fairly large number of Thrift/Goodwill stores in the same area). And I found 3 pairs that should fit, total cost $15.88! So even if a pair doesn’t fit, it’ll go into my Purple Heart collection pile and I’m out $5 tops. So not too bad a morning.
FCM, lovely picture of the Rox-Star, kinda like the hair that way, but
I’d just be happy if I had some more to be unhappy with…
rocky, scritching a big old friendly puppy is one of life’s little joys.
boo fae, I understand why you enjoy your weekends with the bands, that’s a pretty full schedule.
And onward into the afternoon. Thinking about getting some swimming in before the planned workout, we’ll see how that goes. Take care all.
I just got a notice for jury duty.
I’d like to get a t-shirt made that says “Ask me about jury nullification” and wear that when I report.
Just back from getting my specs adjusted… again… Here’s hoping it’s the last time I have to go. But I swear the frame is possessed. They adjust it, it feels fine, then later in the day or the next day, it’s pinching my nose and pressing into my skull. I’m pretty sure my head isn’t swelling… pretty sure…
As I was driving home, I got to thinking that it’s probably not a good idea to put in a veggie patch this year since we’ll be gone all of July. If we hit a dry spell here, everything will wither. And with no one home, the squirrels will go crazy eating whatever they can get their grubby paws on. Daughter and SIL will come tend to Ziva, bring in the mail, and water my houseplants, but I can’t ask them to tend to a veggie patch, too. They have lives.
So I might put in one or two 'maters in planters, but I think I’ll just cover the garden patch in black plastic, hoping the summer sun will heat it all enough to kill the weeds beneath. Then next year…
Time to change into grubbies and do a little raking.
I started in the Mez, as usual. and as usual, I got called down to the 300 table, leaving the Mez unmanned for an hour anna half. It took me an hour anna half to clear it, then I had to clear the 300 slide, and run all the packages since there was no one else. And still The Supreme Shouting Officer was on the radio about people still working on the clock. Long story short, what I thought was a short day went into overtime. Literally. So I can still afford top shelf gin for Spot. On the way home, I almost had ringside seats to a car wreck, and the SUV in front of me decided they had to slide over 3 lanes right fucking now and almost slammed into a BMW SUV. And then tried it again 120 feet down the road. And from last week, I renewed my lease, so I’m good for another 12 months, or The Apocalypse, which ever comes first.
I read that as “jump the shark”.
An ACLU shirt would work, too.
Spot approves(I need to pick him up a bird feeder next Ace run).
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY LILLY!!!
Hair?
And my Thin Mints have shipped!
The Wendy’s down the road has a sign “Thin Mint Frosties. You deserve one.”
