Thank you! Of course I agree, they do delight my eyes and heart. The fuzzbutt on the left wouldn’t know what to do with a bird if it walked in and sat on his feet. The one on the right would drive entire species to extinction if we let her out.
Indeed Especially after having to rush to catch your shuttle. It always seems to me that if I start the day late, I never seem to catch up.
Do you share your card with anyone? I’ve been wondering if it would be worth the money and time for us to start making the trip to Costco because we really do not eat that much anymore.
This is being noticed, tourism numbers are noticeably lower than expected. People are already starting to feel it. Of course that is mostly collateral damage, but it’s starting to trickle up to those who need to feel it. Tell your friend that this Yank says thank you.

Neither my brain nor my dog (nor my bladder) woke me up last night! I managed 7.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep! Hoping for a repeat tonight. If I can keep this up, I should be recovered from my 8 consecutive days of sleep deprivation by the end of the week.
It’s ridiculously nice outside right now: mostly sunny and 65°F, with only a very light breeze from time to time. At lunchtime it felt great to turn the heat off and open some windows (Bailey was happy about that, too). Highs will be in the 60s/70s for the next few days, but overnights will still be on the chilly side so I’m sure I’ll be turning the heat on before I go to bed. But I’ll take whatever sunshine/warmth I can get!
I did get to have dinner with my BFFs and my “nephew” last night, which was awesome – both seeing them, and the meal (steak, potato wedges, and string beans). WifeBFF is having reverse shoulder replacement surgery tomorrow morning, so it’ll probably be a couple of weeks before she’s up to having visitors and I get to see her again. And my nephew goes back to TX on Thursday; I won’t see him again until the summer. Both he and HusbandBFF are under strict orders to keep me posted all day tomorrow. I’ll start checking in with HusbandBFF regularly on Friday, after nephew leaves, while he’s home alone during WifeBFF’s rehab stay.
It felt good to actually do some work today! I haven’t heard anything from the program manager I was supposed to start helping part-time – despite sending him a Teams message at around noon – and am trying not to worry: I’m kinda counting on that project, but I know it will take time to set up a charge code, my SharePoint access, etc. I’m definitely covered by the proposal and contract closeout tasks for the next few weeks, but I’m a little more anxious to get that other work rolling than I realized.
Now I’m dying of curiosity!
Ha!

Some of the above I’ve watched (and liked), but others are still on my list.
That’s such a good feeling, innit?
Awww…yes, hopefully!
Happy anniversary!
Their size difference is always obvious in your pics, but never ceases to amaze me!
Nice! I will admit that my last two purses were designer (for reasons), but before that I always went to Kohl’s or Target: one of them would always have something just right.
I’ve never been so glad that the nearest Wendy’s is kind of a pain to get to…
Nope, it’s just us. The savings on bacon and butter alone is huge. I think four pounds of bacon is about $16, IIRC. Compare that to the local grocery, which is about $12/pound. I can’t recall what we pay for the Kerrygold Butter, but it’s significantly cheaper than normal retail. I usually buy eight pounds of butter at a time and it lasts quite awhile unless it’s Christmas season. Then there are the paper and cleaning products, which also are a big savings. You’d have to pencil it out to see if it would benefit you.
JanetheCane, do your kitties make a special noise when they watch birds? Mine did; sort of a trill. FCMoooM, I grew up as one of 3 brothers, so the rituals of girls’ hair were something of a mystery to me. I don’t know why brunettes want to be blonde, or why curly-haired girls want it straight, and vice versa. Now you and Roxy have shown me that the ritual training starts young.
The aforementioned Anniversary is today. My wife’s night driving is hampered, though, so we’re Grub-hubbing our dining-out. I hope that works out. We’ve had some Grub-hub glitches in the past.
I only have a few minutes, but I’m going to post now because every time I’ve started to do so today, the phone rang. I’m heading to the retinal specialist for a regular checkup. At least, it’s supposed to be that, but this morning my right contact lens fell apart while it was in my eye. (It’s a soft lens, and this was my own fault because I was supposed to replace it two months ago but was trying to extend the use. They’re pricey little things.) I got the small piece out without problem, but the big piece kept slipping to places where I couldn’t see or reach it, and it hurt like a mutha. I’m not wearing a contact in that eye until it settles down, but I want him to check and make sure I didn’t hurt the cornea.
Last week got hetic because a) there was an issue with my tax return, which I think is cleared up now b)Ms. Dog’s owner was sick, so I took her for several long walks. She was deeply perturbed because now that Capital Lake has become Capital Mud and Rock at low tide, the ducks have abandoned it. It’s really ugly, too. c) My SIL requires a lot of time.
And now I have to go. I swear I’ll be back later. Hugs around, me hearties!
Oh, just about applying for a job that I’m really not even sure that I want. But that I’d still be upset if I didn’t get it because I know everyone there already.
It’s more of an idea about achieving the goal of getting that job than actually wanting to be an employee there.
Congratulations!
A bit of good news here. MusicMan and I are heading north tomorrow for a VA related appointment. We’re going to be at a mall with a Torrid, so I measured myself for the first time since I’ve started losing weight. According to their size chart, I’ve dropped 5 sizes! I was really surprised that that was the case. So maybe tomorrow I’ll come home with a new outfit.
Second try…Mom called, she got a big check from Social Security and wanted to know why. I’ve been telling her this would happen since Biden signed the bill, I’m sad that she was so worried and confused when she got it.
If anyone has been trying to call the Social Security office lately, this is one of the reasons it is so hard to get through to anyone. Mom isn’t the only one who got big money and is confused and scared to touch it. (I actually did tell Mom to not touch it. That was one of the last things Biden did before leaving office, I’m concerned that trump is going to want to claw it back.)
Happy anniversary Lilly! I hope you have many more
Please be careful.
Dang, I hate rushing like that. I hate it even more now that I’m retired, the rest of my day is always unsettled.
I’m getting excited too, but it is still too early to plant. Of course this will be my first spring here, I’ll have a better idea next year.
I love watching them, it is so relaxing. Except for when they are rolling around like a couple of Loony Tunes Tasmanian Devils. Then I’m worried that he’s going to hurt her, but she’s the one in charge of all things.
That’s cute. I’ll bet it will be too much of a bother to do every day, but for a once in a while it will be fun.
I hope you got a free bottle of vasoline with the rent increase.
Bad drivers abound, I’ve never been anywhere that I haven’t seen that and worse on a regular basis. I’m glad you and Carmen are OK.
I am so happy you were able to get together with them, good friends cheer the soul.
The adoption was approved yesterday. I’m glad Barkley is out of the shelter but also sad because nobody spoils animals like we do.
It’s so funny that we never see it. I had to go back and look at the pic and Wow, he is a big boy!
Thank you, I think I’ll take a wander in the one in Charleston when next we go. As I recall, you can get in without a card, but you can’t check out without, right?
George purrs. Jolene goes ackackack which cracks me up.
Oh, sad. I trusted someone else to have gotten the names right. Happy anniversary!!!
What a nightmare, I’m so sorry that happened. I hope there isn’t any cornea damage.
So it was beautiful today, I put my baby tree out before I left and it is still warm enough to leave it out until dark. I stopped at my doctor’s office and got my MMR jab (one of two) and then went swimming for half an hour.
I’m still achy but swimming seemed to help a little. Or maybe it was the nice warm air, the cold makes my hip cry just going to get the mail.
I’m seeing new faces but also hearing a lot of anger from both sides which isn’t at all helpful.
Sigh. Mom’s calling again. I always love talking to her, but it hurts my heart when she is this confused about something.
I talked to the apartment manager on the way home from irk and she’s scheduled maintenance to come Friday. It’s flushing fine now, but I still want it looked at.
While it may not be you and your hubby he comes to, I’m glad that he will be getting a good home either way.
Happy anniversary, knotty!
She’s looking much more grown up.
Happy anniversary, lily!
At irk today, my cow-orker and I were told that we each would be assigned up front two days a week, alternating. They’re trying to get the units per hour down and she and I are indirect labor. My prediction is that we’ll get a backlog that, surprise!, surprise!, needs to be cleared up tout de suite. Oh, well, charging my MP3 in anticipation
Good thing you have all those Amish farm stands around to buy fresh local veggies from! But I understand missing those months of getting to dig your fingers in the dirt. At least you’ll get to eat tomatoes still warm from the sun.
Pay very little heed to me~I have the blackest of proverbial thumbs~I’m not sure I’ve ever managed to grow anything consumable, in all my years. I’ve gotten a few daffodil bulbs to come up, grown a few spindly sunflowers with kids or grand kids-me buying seed packets is a lot like buying a lottery ticket, a one in 200 chance of getting anything.
I think Mother Fate is laughing at me. Less than a year after my beloved big brother sent me a spiffy new sewing machine-66 or is it 88 different stitches?-and a 24 spool sampler of different colored imported thread, Joann Fabrics crashes and burns and I’ve got nowhere near to get fabric and notions with which to use my first new sewing machine since 1968. She’s somewhere cackling cruelly, I just know it.
Daughter posted in FB: This won’t be a regular occurrence - I want her to embrace her wonderful curls. But this was fun! So it’ll alternate between when her grandmother does the braided 'do or when Daughter just does a couple of braids, or poofs - lots of options for her. Just so she doesn’t expect me to do any of it - hair styling is not one of my strengths.
Well, she will be 7 next month! Dang - where has the time gone?
I raked out the rest of the front garden bed as well as a small bed next to the garage and part of the bed outside the bedrooms. I remembered to put a bandaid on my thumb, so no blister! Yay!!
I think the raking counts as today’s exercise, plus I don’t feel like doing bike time. So I won’t. Tomorrow, we’ll go to the boat and I’ll help FCD as he sorts out the wires. My main duty will be handing him stuff - going in and out of the engine room is torture on his legs. So I’ll fetch and he’ll do whatever it is he needs to do down there.
There will likely be someone at the entry door who checks for cards. I noticed that the one we go to has an electronic scanner for the card. Maybe they’re cracking down on things.
Dang. But then…I haven’t been in one for over ten years so it is not surprising that things have changed.
I can’t even braid my own hair, I’d be hopeless trying to do someone else’s hair.
I don’t have any gray either, but my hair has always been white blond and is now more of a dark honey color so maybe that’s so the gray will show better.
Its hard to figure out how much attention to pay to a plant. House plants can be super tricky if you don’t know what you are doing and failure brings guilt so you don’t try again.
Plus…you had better things to do than dust plant leaves, you had children to play with.
Dang about not being able to play with your new toy. I am sad for you as well.
That’s really how we feel as well. We didn’t really want to change up our routine with another pet, but we also didn’t want Barkley in the shelter when we are perfectly capable of spoiling three fuzzbutts. So…kinda relieved but kinda sad.
It was flushing just fine before it backed up the first time. I’m glad the manager is sending someone out.
That is GREAT! I’m so happy for you, are the stairs getting any easier now?
I hope the VA appointment goes well and that they don’t want to see him again for six months.
Howdy Y’all! Really enjoyed bein’ a RDOS hermit today. The weather has been damp and chilly so a good day to do that. Sup was very good if’n I do say so myself. Now I shall see what’s up on teh intartoobz.
My dinner tonight: 2 fish tacos and 1 birria taco, leftover from Thursday. I’ve eaten the fish ones, which I microwaved, and the birria one is in the toaster oven.
Mi Esposa said, ‘I think I’ll have some of that chili. That was good.’ That made me happy. I’ll have to make it again. I’ll keep checking the BIBIR bin.

Anyways, I’m up, having a cheeseburger with the Aldi Stilton cheese, and an Old Fashioned. Spot has had had his ice cube hunt.
I gotta see if the local one has them.
Maybe if he falls on her after she bites him in the balls. Again.
and {{{{JtC}}}} on mom.
Yeah. one of the many floods was a backup on the sink line, 80 feet up the line.
Evening all. Went to the gym early to swim before my workout session, but forgot my swimsuit, and then realized I had also forgot to pack my gym shorts, so came home for a bit to look for my memory before going back with the correct equipment. Met my trainer and we discussed what I was looking for, then he took me to a group of 8 different machines and put me through them to get an idea where I am at. Nothing to strenuous yet, but some of my arm muscles do feel it. Then off to soccer and helped with the 8-year olds, session went well and I refereed for a little bit, so some more exercise there. Now at home and have consumed more calories than is probably recommended (Sundays and Mondays I eat out a lot, and that drives the calories numbers up), but still weighing in at under 200lbs. Am home now and nibbling on carrots, at least it is something reasonably healthy. Temperature passed 70F today and may get close to 80F tomorrow.
Oopsie, may your slumber be undisturbed. And best wishes to Wife BFF.
Nellie, thanks for the update, even if it wasn’t the best news. Hope the eye is ok, I used to get scratched corneas years ago and they are a ‘female dog’ of a thing. Hope things settle down for you soon.
Sticky Buns, conga-rats on the size depreciation. Enjoy the shopping.
JtC, feel for your mom and the SS, but once money has been obligated and disbursed it is hard if not impossible for the Government to get it back.
lily, happy anniversary.
And that’s all for this day. Catch y’all on the next MMP.
My local Wendy’s recently had a fire. I don’t know when they’ll be open, but a Thin mint frosty sounds good.
Off to sleep on the floor. I’ve found that it helps with the lower back issues. Yeah, I now have health insurance, but it’s barely worth anything…“we start paying after you reach the deductible”…which is more than one who needs insurance can afford. But sleeping on the floor is an adventure, I wake up and have no friggin idea where the hell I am.
