I’ve had more than a few Sunday mornings like that. But I hope the floor helps better than the insurance.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 4c/39f with a predicted high of 8c/46f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Instead of the fucking weather, do you want to talk about that one time I was forced to wear fucking diapers?” No, perhaps not, thank you very much.
Mine is wavy, so neither curly nor straight. It’s also very fine, my hairdresser loves it because she says it’s like baby hair. I only ever leave it to dry naturally when I’m not going anywhere and don’t have to be seen, normally I have to style it but it isn’t a massive issue. I’d like to to be longer and thicker, but if it was, I’d probably complain about that too!
I hope he rewards you with something suitable! And I expect he thinks you renewed your lease for his benefit too.
I will do - she said she didn’t feel it was morally right and I am sure she would be pleased to know that it’s not viewed as an empty gesture.
That’s understandable, you at least have the next couple of weeks covered. I hope they get back to you quickly about the other work, even if it’s just to let you know that they’re still setting things up for you.
I’ve found it very hard to track down exactly what I want - something that’s functional but has a bit of class, and it just a little bit different. My current “day” bag is similar to this style but it’s made from a kind of velvety black leopard print material and has a big silver buckle on the front. It’s actually bigger than I really wanted but if I take it to a gig, it’s got room for merch purchases!
Eeek! I am glad you were scheduled to see the eye doc today, and I hope he can get the bits out easily for you. Come back and let us know you’re ok, please!
JtC your cats are gorgeous. And don’t forget to put your bin out!
Awesome! I hope you find something in the store that you really like, you need a treat.
Nothing much exciting going on here - I went to the dental hygienist yesterday, she grumbled about the amount of tea I drink and said I should try having some water in between. I’ll give it my consideration. Came home and fed the cats, peeled veggies for dinner, emptied the bins, hauled the biiiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection, and then cooked dinner. I had a bit of sofa time by myself, neither of the cats put in an appearance until it was close to bedtime, which for them is treat time.
I was up early this morning, the bin men were here just after 7am so I’ve been out and hauled the biiiiig bin back in to where it lives for the rest of the week. I’m logged into irk but nothing much is happening yet. Got stuff to do, don’t really want to do any of it. I may have to ask for an extra work at home day for tomorrow, 'im indoors ordered something expensive that was due to be delivered today but now isn’t coming until tomorrow. Normally we’d leave the outside porch door unlocked and deliveries get left in there but as it’s an expensive computer-related item, he doesn’t want to do that, which is why he’d scheduled delivery for a day when I was at home. He will try to get them to reschedule for Friday when he’s at home, but otherwise I might have to plan to be here instead of on campus.
Off to make more tea, and contemplate some water, I’ve just had a fried egg sandwich for breakfast
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 72 and N.O.S. Spring weather it is. I need to get two ‘scripts filled and do some other errands. This will take care of the mornin’ pretty much. I can then be a RDOS the rest of the day. Sup shall be leftovers from last night.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. I suppose I should also purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe and bother.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Yeah. I handled a dozen or so that I thought met my preferences and I ended up coming back to one of the first I looked at. Some were easy to eliminate (Pink?? Um, no. Bigger than a breadbox? Nope.) My newly purchased one would be deemed perfect if it was just a tiny bit bigger. Then again, I can just eliminate some of the stuff I’ve been carrying around and never used, right? In the end, I’m satisfied.
Same with Ziva. She’ll willingly approach me when I first head to the kitchen and when I’m about to desert my recliner at the end of the day, looking all starved and deprived. Apart from that, she wants nothing to do with anyone. She is one peculiar feline.
Awake too long again last night, but I didn’t wake till 7:30-ish. Actually, I think my body hasn’t accepted the time change, and being RDOS, it doesn’t really matter. Unless I have an appointment, which I don’t till next week. (7AM dentist - yoiks, why did I agree on that ungodly hour??)
We’ll be heading to the marina once it warms a bit (today started at 30°, but we’re promised upper 60s this afternoon.) Other than that, no plans. If we get back early enough, I’ll attempt some more rakeage. I need to nip some random branches off the azaleas and throw them some fertilizer. The day will go as it goes.
Happy Tuesday!
i have hit the time change wall. so groggy today. decided to have a bit of a substantial breakies. there is an in building cafe that is open for breakfast 3 days a week. got a free hash brown!
hairwise, i’m fairly happy with what i have. i have taken to turning what ever is going grey with some sort of blue. there is a faint wave in it when it is short. i have the straight, fine, silky, swooshy hair.
Morning all, stayed in bed until nearly 8am today, barring two bathroom breaks, and have broken fast already and have a big load of dishes washing now, so my major tasks for the AM hours are complete. Will probably stop by the gym for awhile, I did eat quite a few calories yesterday so need to do some penance, and then devote the remainder of the day to sloth befitting a RDOS. We’re supposed to have two beautiful days ahead, highs in the mid-70’s and no rain predicted, so might even get out and do…I’ll think of something.
And onward into 2sday. Take care all.
How was it? did it get a little melty? I need some more Stilton.
She plays to win!
When GG comes to bed at night, he finds his place and falls over.If I happen to be in the way, its like having a big fluffy pillow suddenly land on me.
Where did you find it? Maybe I lost mine there too.
After Dad died, her SS was adjusted and she was pretty sure it was too high. She talked to them several times about it over four years and everyone assured her that it was correct. Until she got the letter saying she had gotten an over-payment and wouldn’t be getting anything until it was paid back. It was almost a year before her SS payments started back up at a much lower rate.
That doesn’t sound like a really fun adventure! I hope it helps.
It is also pretty smart, now that the Forest Department has been gutted, who knows if the parks she wants to visit will even be open. Even worse, they might be open with trash filled parking lots and overfull porta-potties. I hope she has a great trip!
Thank you, it has been emptied but I can’t go out and get it yet. The front lawn is covered with robins looking for grubs. If I go out now, the birds will fly away and the fuzzbutts will get bored and start looking at my baby tree. Which will be going out shortly, just a few degrees more to go.
I am so sorry.
GG isn’t liking this at all either, he doesn’t care that he’s getting fed “earlier”, his routine has been all shook up and he is very much a creature of routine.
I hope you felt better after a solid breakfast and hurray for free hash browns.
I’m watching the FedEx van stop outside our fence to carry a package to the door. Weenie, that van is much smaller than the UPS truck that back in without looking twice.
Our internet connection has been disturbed today. The local provider says they’re updating something. Let’s see if this gets through.
Boat work underway - not the boat - just the work. I’m hoping we stop for lunch soon.
So the new thing is now only having 4 people on the sort tables, even though that backs things up all the way to Secondary Sort. I think some of the management types are trying to prove they are worthy of Cabinet positions in the current Administration We got a big load of mind control devicesRFID readers. Which supposedly will beep if a package with the new RFID label is put in the wrong car, but they stopped using those because they were too expensive for everyday use… I did my Aldi run. This is how I felt after being to afford to buy a dozen eggs at once:
I dropped some donations off at the cat rescue thrift shop on the way home.
I thought of you when I got this email.
Slightly melty. And it was epically good. I will do that again.
That would make me disturbed.
HAPPY DOPERVERSARY!!!

Happy Doperversary, AskNott! The day after your wedding anniversary…hmm…were you sitting around one anniversary wondering if there was a bunch of weirdos online you could hang out with?
I had another night of mostly-good sleep! Yay! And, I developed a theory: I didn’t set an alarm any day last week but I also wasn’t on vacation, so I think on top of the job stress my brain got worried that I might (somehow) oversleep. This week I’m back to setting alarms, and even though I’m still stressed I think having that one less thing for my brain to worry about has been helping me sleep until the alarm goes off. That, and the dog hasn’t gone insane in the middle of the night recently.
Speaking of the dog, my poor girl just threw up five times in a row: twice in the living room, once outside, then two more times in the living room. It’s all just bile, because she didn’t eat much yesterday and hasn’t eaten yet today. On Sunday, she managed to get a small piece of some kind of animal bone in her mouth: she dropped it pretty quickly on command, and I don’t think there was any chewing/crunching, but I wonder if even that brief time was enough to upset her stomach. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on her. (Update: 30 min later, she seems to be alright again…in fact she might be hungry, but I’m holding off on giving her any food for a little while longer.)
Still no word from the program manager I’m supposed to start supporting part-time this week, but…you guys…the interview I had on Friday? For the stretch position? This morning I noticed that the job opening isn’t on the website anymore! Which means that either they’ve cancelled the opening, or they’re in the process of making an offer to someone (). The hiring manager is at a leadership offsite today and tomorrow, so if it’s the latter and if it’s me there likely won’t be any word until later in the week. It would mean returning to business development vs looking for another program/contract: each has its pros and cons so I’ve done some soul-searching, but I really could be good at the work – and enjoy it – and I’ve decided that if I get the offer I will accept. As long as it’s a true promotion and not a lateral transfer: the salary increase can be nominal, but I want the grade bump (and yes, I’ll negotiate for it if needed).
I am so not a fan of unsolicited advice – either getting or giving it – so I apologize in advance for this, but: OMG don’t do that!!! I’ve been wearing contact lenses for 40 years, so I know they’re expensive. But the replacement schedule exists for a reason. You’re gambling by using contacts longer than you should. You could introduce bacteria simply from wearing it so much longer than recommended, or…you know…it could rip.
I totally get that. Have you decided whether to apply?
Nice. I am wearing my Sherman Tank slippers as I type this, once you get used to the oversized look, they are pretty comfortable.
JtC, thanks for the lesson. Hope it doesn’t affect your Mom this time.
It did.
Oopsie, hope pupper gets to feeling better. And all appendages crossed that you get the job.
And lunch has been assimilated and I will shortly head over to the gym (hopefully remembering everything this time) for some calorie burning.
Home again. FCD got all the old fuel lines out and sorted out some of the wiring. I was able to crawl around and help with that so he didn’t have to leave the engine room. Then we did lunch at Roy Rogers - their battered cod is pretty good - and went back to the boat to offload stuff that is no longer needed there. Some went into the dumpster and the rest is in a big container to be sorted and/or tossed. FCD decided he was too achy to climb back down into the engine room, so we left. Tomorrow, we’ll return.
I’ve decided it’s too late for me to mess with raking, because I can! So chillage begins early. Supper will probably be simple - grilled cheese or sketties or something similarly easy. My attitude has taken over. Can you imagine??
Now you tell me! >cranky night nurse wanders off hoping she can remember to not dispense nursey advice<
Hi everybody. I have some not-good news to share.
One of my husband’s oldest and closest friends has died. (For some context, he was “Dylan” in this anecdote about a wedding toast. ) Thing is, as with Gene Hackman, he was found in his house, and it was over a week since anyone had heard from him. I’m not clear on who found him, but whoever it was, they called Dylan’s brother “Brandon”, who called Mr. Rilch, who called me and at first could only say, “Bad news.” Oh, and Mr. Rilch is out of town right now, for work.
I liked Dylan too, to be sure. He was a fun guy, a nice guy, and definitely left a footprint. Put it this way: If you’re a gamer, you have almost certainly played or otherwise experienced one of the numerous projects he had a hand in. Work was a lot of his life. As I said in the link, he had a brief, unhappy marriage, and he was single from then on. When Mr. Rilch said, “Dylan’s dead!”, my first thought was “Suicide?” followed by “Accident?” Apparently it was heart-related…but maybe if someone had been with him to say, “You’re going to the hospital and that’s that,” that’s where he’d be. In the hospital instead of the funeral home.
So Brandon and “Kelly” are devastated, but they’re holding off on telling “Erin”, their teenage daughter, until Sunday. This weekend, she’s in the school musical. Chorus, not a lead role (yet?) and we’re going to see it. I’m still going to bring her flowers, as I had planned, but I can already hear the bomb ticking. She’s going to be heartbroken when she finds out, but I understand why the parents don’t want to derail her weekend. She’ll have plenty of time to grieve after the curtain goes down.
He was 55. Same age as me, and same as Mr. Rilch until next month.
I am so sorry.
Your post is #55 and I’ll be 55 in a few days, so I’m now weirded out.
I’ve just opened a message from my primary are provider.
You have immunity to measles mumps and rubella
Mrs. Nott finally got approved to be a county 4H volunteer. They sure do make it difficult to fill out the form. She had to get help from the county 4H coordinator, her nephew, to figure it out.
Happy cake day!
Our internet has been very disturbing lately as well.
Please do not shout at me…but if you drink your tea with a straw, it will go past your front teeth without staining them. Some travel mugs have “nipples” that get your tea past your teeth as well.
But…its OK if you want to yell at me, I’m probably edging pretty close to sacrilege here and I’m an ignorant merican.
A trip to Aldi was made and Stilton was obtained. Hamburgers will be ingested in half an hour, should I also splurge in some homemade mayo?
Poor lil girl, I do hope she just has an upset tummy for no reason and will be a just fine puppers soon.
It was hard enough to keep track of back when her mentis was compos, if there are problems now it will be such a nightmare to deal with. Hence my advice to just buy a CD with the money at her credit union.
That is so sad, but I do understand why they don’t want to tell Erin yet. There are going to be a whole lot of feelings happening, I’m sure Dylan wouldn’t have wanted her to be sad during her musical.
We had to get fingerprinted to volunteer to pet kitties at the local shelter. It is kinda sad when you think about it.
Does your employer offer the option of paying $X toward a plan purchased on the marketplace? You may find something better if they do.
Yikes, nellie. Were you able to get it all out?
Those were my mom’s go-to for a quick meal or snack.
Me too. I was fine yesterday, but today, it was a struggle to keep my eyes open.
I’m sorry for your loss, rilch. Hugs.
Irked up front today. No staples or rice bombs, so not altogether bad. I’ll be back up there tomorrow, since I was in my usual place Monday. Thursday, it’s back to my usual position.
It hit 77F this afternoon, making for a 40F difference from when I left for irk. Sometimes, it’s hard to know how to dress.
Stay safeand healthy y’all!
