(Old) Who's thinking about summer plans in the MMP?

And a good late afternoon/early evening to all. Swimming was swum (got a full mile in) and gym stuff was used, so I’m nice and tired and have no plans to depart Casa Rat this evening, despite the weather being rather pleasant for a change. Gas tank is full (saved $1.70/gallon at Kroger so got it cheap). Also got my new driver’s license in the mail, so I’m good thought July 2029, only problem is the picture is the same one from 2021 so I hope whoever has to check my ID in the future is understanding…

FCM, That’s a very well-done G; now is he going to try the butterfly next?

Wet one, enjoy the break from doctoring.

doggio, sometimes I’m amazed anything gets where it’s going…but then again, maybe you are too…

Kroger here in N. Ali-bama has a dozen eggs for $3.99; Wal-Mart is $3.94.

Bright Tree, thanks for the info, Germany and France are pretty much unexplored territory for me, one of these days…

nellie, glad you and the APAP are reaching a detente. And hope the shot isn’t/wasn’t too bad. And they’ve had enough practice to at least go the right way on the field (this is for the 7-year olds) and the older boys have often been playing for 3-4 years now, so it’s mostly learning positioning for them (and they have been doing it well).

Sticky Buns, that sounds like a really neat pillow!

JtC, hope the eyes are not as expensive as they might be. As for the other jobs you programmed for me, the car’s computer keeps an eye on my tire pressure, dishwasher has been sanitized (and dishes washed) and will change the HVAC filter when I finish this missive. Happy now?

Only time I use handwriting these days are when I occasionally have to write a check or sign something, and it’s still pretty readable, IMHO

Feel better soon, swampy.

And now I need to replace the HVAC filter and fix my chee-burger for dinner and get down to serious slothing. Take care all.
So you just can’t hide it and about to lose control?

As a reward, I will give you an anti-boycott. Eat more Ben&Jerry’s ice cream. Ben recently went to jail for using harsh words at politicians over bombing children.

I often see half pints of their ice cream in dollar stores. They cost about the same as a pint, but it does help with portion control.

That wounds like such a dream. I can’t ever remember having unaided perfect vision. I can remember the first time I got glasses, it was amazing. I walked around the neighborhood marveling at leaves on trees. Who knew the top part of trees weren’t just green blobs?

bastards

Oh, thank you so much! I know that it will all go very well. The worse part is going to be going to sleep the night before, LOL!

I’m going to go hang out with nice folks who will give me some really good drugs and make it so I can see colors again. Heck, just getting my right eye fixed should be enough to let me start driving again.

Hubs has been very nice about being my personal chauffeur, but I like being able to take myself places on my schedule.

Plus, he never wants to make extra stops if I see a neat looking yard sale or road side stand. This isn’t recent, he’s always been like this. Hence me being in the habit of traveling by myself.

Yeah, ex called yesterday, wanting to marry me. I told him he had his chance and didn’t.
Hes way too selfish and I honestly don’t want to take care of an infirm person.
He only wants to thinking it will get him out of the nursing home. I can’t fault him for that, hes only 39.
It felt good to say sod off. ( but I didnt say that as he probably doesnt know what it means).

In good news, 2 interviews tomorrow.

77 degress.
It cools off this weekend, lows in the 40s.

And what exactly what is going to happen, starting when you take off the operative eye shield when you wake up the next morning! Colors! Light! Reading street signs! Drive at night again, no blinding headlight glare! And nary a twinge of discomfort during the process* (*except possibly the momentary wee little prick from the IV in your hand through which you’ll get the lovely drugs).

Same, I was in 4th grade, except that I just stared out the picture window at the trees in our front yard, we had 4, 3 oaks and one maple.

is this possibly a typo? If not, since my recollection is that you are 62, you go girl!

Mostly I was a RDOS today. Didn’t accomplish much of anything. I filled Hubs pillbox. My BF gave me a device that twists Kcups apart. I used it to twist apart about a dozen. Going to recycle the white cup part and put the coffee grounds in a container to use when planting the seedlings. Also made egg noodle lasagna along with frozen veggies (carrots, broccoli, green beans and water chestnuts) for dinner.

Thankfully we’re almost over the hump and hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow; it was pretty dreary today which generally causes me to be unmotivated.

Linky pls? I’ve never heard of such a thing but would like to have one of my own. We can’t coffee before having coffee, so we both Keurig our first cups before getting all fancy with the one we will appreciate. (I grind beans and use a French Press, he uses ground beans and a one cup espresso machine.)

I’ve already been told that they use a numbing swab before using the needle! I’m not really worried about getting stuck, I’ve got good veins and I get insecure when I’m told to limit fluids at a certain time so will push the water the day before. Being well hydrated really helps when someone is poking for blood.

I’m so ready for this. I really didn’t know that my eyes had gotten this bad in less than three years until the nice young woman pulled out the color blindness flip cards. I failed with my right eye and barely passed with my left eye.

It was honestly shocking, but also happy making that it was something so easy to fix.

So many people won’t understand the magic of learning that trees have leaves all over. And they are green, not the brown ones that fall to the ground. It was just magic and I hope I get to experience it again with the forest. There are SO many trees and little flowers and movement, I know it will be amazing to see.

Spot and I napped. There were multiple thunderstorms. I dreamed I was going to a hockey game, but I had to crawl along the narrow brickwork on the outside of a building to get there. then the belt system at work broke down and I had to carry my snacks by hand like a medieval peasant, but there was free grape Kool-Aid packs. Then I was reading a sci-fi novel about spreading galactic anarchy, but then I went to the kitchen, but roommie had food out, so I went to the other kitchen, which was a filthy disaster. Then I woke up, and Spot teabagged me, and showed me his butthole twice. So I really needed this martini.

My uncle did some semi cloak and dagger stuff for the USA in Bavaria back in the 80s, and we visited him in 86. We got to use his BMW, and the US goverment gas coupons to the see the area.

As did I.

Me, too!

Fur bearing trout farm?

Sounds like you’d be better off with a pet leech.

Dreams. I had one Sunday. I was waiting for the bus, kept trying to find my bus pass, none were any good. I looked down the street only to see a white fabric which kept me from seeing if the bus was coming.
I blinked and saw the white fabric, my comforter. Crossover between dream and reality!

For dinner, Wifey had… something. I had the hearts of romaine, chicken breast seasoned with Lawry’s seasoning salt, fresh mozzarella, and that sugar-free/Calorie-free/carbohydrate-free vinaigrette.

Nothing else going on right now.

late night final…and I got nothing, outside of taking the garbage and recycle bins to the curb it has been a completely slothful 4 hours (well, I did change the HVAC filter and put the dishes away, so not totally slothful).

JtC, we have a Dollar Store Grocery nearby, might take a look for one of those half-pints. And know the feeling of getting glasses, my first pair was when I was 6-7 years old and will probably wear a pair to my cremation sometime in the future. Best wishes for the colors to return.

Coppertone, don’t blame you for having odd dreams, been a bit dramatic there…and fingers crossed for a successful interview.

doggio, if ever a man deserved a drink…

And off to do a little reading and a lot of sleeping, with some micturations interspersed during the night. Catch y’all on Thorsday.

I remember getting the standard eye test in elementary school. One eye is … okay … ish … but my left eye? Can’t read the “E” at the top of the chart.
I know it’s an “E” it’s ALWAYS an “E.” But to me, it’s a blurry rectangle.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It is 64 degrees Ferret Height(17.8 Centipedes) out, with a DENSE FOG ADVISORY.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/51f with a predicted high of 18c/64f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Oh, look. The sun finally decided to fucking show up.” Not out there, matey…no sign of it yet!

He didn’t have any last night, but we did hear tawny owls instead

A bit of both  My commute is usually around 1.5hrs but that involves a bus and two trains all being on time. If one of those runs late, it can add half an hour to the journey because I have to wait for something else to turn up. Proper capriciousness can make the journey 3hrs or more.

We are excited for you too! I hope everything goes well and you’re soon back to driving yourself around.

Swampy hope you feel better soonest!

Quite an eventful evening for me yesterday. On the way home from work, I got a message requesting my presence at Little Paws HQ, so I got home and fed the cats then dashed out again to drive over there. As the partner charity to one of the Pets at Home stores, we get a pallet of assorted items and have to empty it within 24hrs. Di had done that the day before and had a huge quantity of cat litter but no room to store it so she wanted me to have some for Muffin. Yeah, she’s only a small cat, but apparently she requires six bags of litter. Di also gave me a box of Iams wet food for the girls, a bag of Go-Kat dry food for indoor cats, a dozen large bags of Iams chicken flavour biscuits, two bags of Felix Crispies treats, three catnip mice and a very potent catnip snake. I helped her move some of the stuff from their cars to the house and then load up her car with stuff to take to two of the other fosterers. Rushed back home for a quick sandwich for dinner, then went to the pub with my friends.

When I got home (11.30pm), Muffin had been sick on her blankie so I had a bit of a tussle with her to move it and give her a clean one. Everybody had their bedtime treats and ham, and that was it for the night. This morning, Muffin had moved out of the bookcase and I was able to approach it from a safe distance, remove a few books and clean up the poo I knew was in there. I had to sacrifice one book as it wasn’t really salvageable but I can live with that. Now everything’s clean and tidy, Muffin had a little bit of fuss before the growling started, and her blankie is drying in the bathroom.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 91 and N.O.S. we shall have our first official quality cee-mint pond time today. The water may be a little cool but will be tolerable. YAY! I feel much better this mornin’. I slept with Ben and that seems to have done the trick. Sup will be burgers ‘n fixin’s and oven fries.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Glad your eyeballs will soon improve, JtC!

And glad that you and Ben had a productive evening, Swampy.

BooFae, hope that Muffin has an uneventful day today.

I finally felt comfortable making a grooming appointment for Annie, so she’ll go in a couple weeks. I just have to remember to call the vet and get proof of her recent rabies shot. I’ve been the one trimming her hair lately and it’s, uh, interesting.

I have physical therapy again in a couple hours. After that I think I’m going to head to the dreaded WalMart to get more filling for the other pillow. I did finish my mom’s Mickey Mouse pillow yesterday. One thing that I’ve realized is that I’m not used to working with t-shirt material. The last one that I made was more like a standard dress shirt. The way that this pulls is different.

Ok, I have to go figure out what I can eat for breakfast that won’t return in a rage during PT.

Mornin’ all! It’s a few minutes predawn and I’ve been balconatin’ and caffinatin’ about an hour now. This is the first morning it’s been warm enough outside and non-breezy enough to be out there for long except bundled up. The downside to living a couple hundred feet up is the breeze can be brutal and just unrelenting. NWS sez 74/23 on the way to 90/32 & gloriously uninhibitedly SUNNY.

GF will be here Fri-Sun and it’s hard to think of much else. Spent an hour on the phone last night consoling her after the last encounter with hubby who’s decided to play Mr. vindictive pointless demander alternating with Mr. calm reasonable. Sigh. They can make this easy or they can make this expensive. In ways far more precious than money.

My plans for the day are … wait for it … a haircut. As our hero Calvin says, the days are just packed!

It should be a superb beach day, but given my solar intake so far this week I probably ought to go early, not midafternoon. That way I can have enough time there to be worth the (small) overhead without being fried to a cinder.

As to the rest of the MMP crew

Here’s hoping boofae’s Muffin has a more peaceful day today.

And good luck on Jane’s eyes. You’ve certainly waited well past the point you’ve gotten all the use out of the original lenses that anyone could. Your Depression-era Mom will be so proud of you.

Sounds like most everyone else is having a mostly nominal week; vexations and triumphs great and small, but mostly small.

Cheers & Onwards into the Day!

Each way or total for the day? And pardon my 'Murrican frame of mind, but is driving not a practical option? Distance? Cost? Traffic?

Not that driving is without issues - one year a snowstorm hit while I was at work, and the normal 45-minute drive home stretched into 5 hours!! But that was one event in how many years of work???

I have to wonder - are there lawyers who are inclined to encourage such vindictiveness, just to pad their bills? Or are some people such petty jerks that they take pleasure in such “revenge”? Fortunately, Daughter’s divorce was simple and straightforward, made simpler because she was here and her future ex went back to Florida.

I decided to look up cataract surgery last night and came across something I didn’t consider - the cost. I need to look up my insurance and see what the deal is. According to my doc, it’s still a couple-three years out, but now I’m curious. I have to say, tho, my vision had deteriorated quite rapidly in the last year or so. Getting old isn’t as much fun as one might imagine. Dammit.

Last night, Ziva was sitting in my lap as we watched TV… till a coughing fit set in. That sent her fleeing to the safety of the floor in front of the TV. She’s so odd. After years of hiding, she worked her way up to spending her evenings by the pellet stove (for warmth, I assume) and in the last few weeks, she’s coming into the living room while we watch TV and taking up a post opposite us. She’ll come to me when I bend down to offer skritches, but she won’t go to FCD. Yet in the bedroom, she’ll allow him to pick her up to the bed for skritches. The mind of a feline is mysterious.

Not sure what the plan of the day is. I should take the time, at my leisure, to make sure I have copies of all our cruise documents ready to go. I have them in a plain manila folder, but I think I should get a folder with pockets. Last thing I need is to lose anything along the way. And, no, I don’t want to deal with electronic copies on my phone. Paper is easier than scrolling or trying to read on a tiny screen. Just over a month to go.

And so the day begins. Happy Thursday!

There certainly are such lawyers, and especially here in lawsuit-happy FL. I was warned of them by my own lawyer. Fortunately my ex- did not pick one of those. Also fortunately neither of us wanted to fight about anything. Also fortunately, we didn’t have 30+ years of physical and emotional baggage to unravel.

In GF’s case she didn’t pick a bill-padding fight-for-the-hell-of-it lawyer either, and per her lawyer, supposedly he didn’t either. But …

So far his lawyer has done a couple things that are either his lawyer being a loose cannon with dumb but vindictive aim, or husband is telling his lawyer to do one thing then bitching to his wife that it’s her fault when his lawyer does that mean thing then her lawyer needs to (expensively) counter that meanness in court.

Sigh.

At least that makes her all the more grateful for a drama-free cuddle once we do get together.

Have to head off to work but thought I’d get this link for JtC first. It’s beautiful here today so I will be walking
:slightly_smiling_face:

Twister to separate K-cups into recyclable/reusable parts

Serious question: are the reusable K-cups not an option? In my last position, I juat packed enough freshly ground coffee (one of those ancient Tupperware :trade_mark: salad dressing cups is perfect) to fill the one that I kept in my desk and disposed of the grounds there.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, it’s getting sheveled to go to my ortho appointment.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
