Are we planning summer vacation in the MMP?

Anyone got their summer plans set or at least started? Going somewhere exciting? Doing something fun?

Not me. I need vicarious thrills. Tell me your future!

Happy Moanday!

First! W00T!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off o work. It’s my Firday. As far as summer vacations, there the Hockey Booster Club Convention in Philly.

what is mmp?

This is the MMP - there’s a sticky above this thread that’s the MMP FAQ - that should tell you all you want to know, and more.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 75 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. We shall see. I kind of planned on goin’ to the interment for Jim this mornin’. I may or may not dependin’ on the weather. If it’s stormy then no, but if’n it’s just rain I probably will. I won’t melt cause I ain’t no wicked witch. I shall also spiff up da cave. I took a beastloaf outta da freezer for suppage. Sides TBD.

Jane Smythe MMP stands for Monday Morning Post. There’s a sticky in MPSIMS that kind of explains what we’re all about. Whatever is originally posted gets hijacked and it just goes from there. No, it does not make sense but that’s not what we’re about.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify if’n I am to go about the public.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

ETA: Nettie YIKES! Glad you’re doin’ better.

Afternoon, mumpers! My boss and also the assistant boss from the other team in our office are both off today. That means I am The Big Boss for the day

Holiday plans…as ever, I have lots, and since I am Da Boss, it’s up to me to sign off on holiday requests. Plans at the moment are as follows:

Four days in Wales for a music festival next week.
On 31st March we are heading to New Zealand for two weeks of fun and frolics.
In May we are off to Luxembourg for a long weekend in honour of it being ‘im indoors’ big birthday.
In June I have a weekend away with the girls, and we have a weekend music festival in London to go to.
In August we are off to Hungary for a week to visit friends.
In November we are off to Wales for two music festivals, both four days and in consecutive weeks.

In between, there are a bunch of gigs on my calendar too, we went to one last night and have another one booked for Saturday night. It’s all go around here!

Happy Moonday!

It’s overcast but not too chilly this morning.
Today’s high is suppose to be 55.

I woke up too early today and I can tell it’s going to be a long day.
Already the critters are fighting, the cat tried to take the dog’s bed and the dog wanted his bed back.
There is plenty of room for both of them but they don’t want to share.

Today is grocery day.
Not really wanting to go out, but it has to be done.
Since it’s not supposed to rain today, we can finish trimming the crepe myrtle. I didn’t want to cut it back too much but I’m rethinking that plan.

No vacation plans for me, y’all know I am the most boring person in the room.

How scary for you {{{Nettie}}}, I’m glad you are okay.

Thank you Mooom!

You just reminded me that I needed to email the company that’s going to redo my kitchen* to tell them I’m available after July and will it be possible to do the work at that time?

  • the president of the neighbor’s association for my block isn’t one of the people who live in the building: he’s the owner of the Kitchens And Bathrooms company on the ground floor. So unless the budget he gave me was outrageous (and it wasn’t), it didn’t make sense to give it to someone else. If he does a bad job his backyard is directly under my windows :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m going out West this May and it may as well be summer because it sure will be hot in the southwest although not as unbearable as it will be in Florida where I am. I will be hitting Gila National Forest and cave dwellings, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, hopefully Yosemite, San Francisco, hopefully Tahoe, Salt Lake City, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, and possibly St. Louis as it’s only 2 hours longer than going straight back to florida and it’s a convenient stop and I’ll be able to visit the City Museum again (it’s like a huge mcdonalds playplace for all ages.)

irking. I feel much better today. I really needed that day off. I did not accomplish much but the fridge got cleaned and the bed rotated and changed. I started taking a vitamin. We shall see…

{{{Nettie}}}

The weather here can be described as ICK! Thus I have decided not to go over to the church house. Just don’t want to drive in the pourin’ rain if’n I don’t have to drive. So, da cave is gettin’ a spiff not that it’s awful but could stand to be dusted and the master bath could stand sanitization I suppose. Also I have decided on steamed cabbage, mac ‘n cheese, and corn bread to go along with beastloaf. This means I have made two decisions this mornin’. I got me some mad adultin’ skillz!

As to vacation plans, well, we don’t have any. Anywho, y’all know how I like to spend my Summer at the cee-mint pond.

My travel partner in crime and I are going to Edinburgh (Scotland, not Indiana) at the end of May for 2 weeks. Last year we were there for a week and fell in love with the place. We are flying out on my birthday. I don’t know if that’s good or bad. I have hired a house/Ursala Kitteh sitter who also works at the barn so she will also look after the Red Headed Mare.

Morning all. Need to take the lawn mower in for it’s annual service, I suspect that with the rain and nice weather that the mowing season will be starting early. Also need to get the March grocery shopping done and a few other jobs that may get ignored.

I’m going to China! It’s something I’ve wanted to do for 40 years and finally the fates (and my budget) came into line so I’ve got 50% down on a tour that includes Beijing, the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta soldiers, a Yangtse river/3 Gorges cruise, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Hey, you do something once in your life, do as much as you can.

wet one, enjoy Edinburgh, I also think it’s a great city to visit.

boo fairy, that’s quite an itinerary; enjoy your travels.

CoasterCon this year is Williamsburg VA and some NJ park and the dates are etched in my Book-O-Days and time and money are set aside for basically a 10 day romp. We always add on before and after adventures to the 5-6 scheduled days of the convention. We also have the usual family get-together stuff and some weekend trips like the one back to Indiana to see the Electric Amish planned and reservations made. Nothing big or showy like a trip to Japan or anything (there is one but neither of us was interested) but a lot of fun and silliness.

Its a thread unlike any others. Hijacks are expected and almost encouraged, stuff too mundane and pointless for a normal MPSIMS thread is the norm, nicknames are often given, and ---------- well, you just have to be here to really understand it. Not that any of us do understand it, but its a lot of fun.

Especially ripping on Plant. Flytrap digs never get old.

You forgot to take your medicine again, didn’t you?

Is that what we’re calling it now, medicine?

A whole convention dedicated to coasters? Mooommm, would be so proud of you! Do they have any breakout sessions on say, proper napkin usage? :stuck_out_tongue:
P.S. LMK the NJ dates.
Don’t know what’s happening for potential trip(s) yet; depends upon lottery status. I’m actually hoping I don’t get it, because replacement option(s) are even cooler, but we’ll see.
In the nearer term, this weekend is NH & next is VT…that is if I signup/book everything.
Flytrap, be a dear & water the plants, just bring a pair of wirecutters & create a hole in the fence, make sure to yellout & wave to the guards when you start; they’re real friendly as they’ll give you some complimentary jewelry (bracelets) bring you inside, feed you, give you a place to sleep, & even give you new clothes so you’ll fit in w/ everyone else, kthnx. Address is: 5880 Colorado 67, Florence, CO 81226.

I didn’t mention this in the last MMP. My boss came over to see FCD’s shop, and in the course of their conversation, they started talking about me. Apparently he’s disappointed that I don’t want to do engineering. He liked the one design project I did and he wants me to do more.

Nice to know that my mad skillz are appreciated, but I absolutely don’t want to be an engineer any longer. I like that I don’t have to go to meetings or do presentations or travel to customers’ sites. I told him I’m glad to help out, but I don’t want the stress of being his senior engineer. Besides, I’ll be outta here by mid-to-late summer.

But it’s nice to be recognized for the amazing talent that I am.

Is it Firday yet??? :stuck_out_tongue:

Afternoon all!

I’m sort of aimlessly looking at an overseas holiday, probably in June, but I haven’t got very far. Maybe somewhere near the Mediterranean, with a wild card option of Scandinavia. We’re supposed to be getting  snowmageddon  this week*, which is sort of pushing me Med-wards.

I finally got exam and assignment marks back today, for the 2 modules we finished up in January.

Generally pretty happy, didn’t fail anything, so that’s good. Coulda done better, but isn’t that always the case? This was the module taught by the lecturer whose brain quit some time before body, and the one taught by a guy who’s great, but due to baby deciding to arrive a month early, added to already having 3 kids, wound up cutting lectures a bit short and we missed several weeks, so I wasn’t exactly full 'o confidence about either.

  • Probably an inch or so. People are already panic buying.
