So glad to hear I’m in such esteemed company. Still up, dawdling aimlessly on Netflix, sometimes failing at holding still enough so as to not disturb the feline empress asleep on my lap. It’s not for love of me, it’s the electric throw that I have set on ‘broil’.
Not so shabby for an old lady, it’s two hours later where I am.
See here young lady, you be nice to yourself~you are doing just fine by all of us and then some. Don’t make me use my night nurse voice on you.
Please let us know us how your night goes and whether you get where you hope to~my
s will be crossed for you and I’m sending copious wafts of good travel karma your way.
The only traffic on our street is pretty much neighbors, as we’re off the beaten path. I’ve put out easy stuff - like hosta in baggies - they all disappeared post haste. As did a broken lawnmower, of all things. But I won’t do furniture.
I’ve asked my sibs and have heard back from 2 of the 4 - once they all reject the offer (as I expect they will) I’ll do Marketplace and Nextdoor and maybe the local classified site. And MIL has given the OK for us to sell the dining table and chairs, which should be easier to rehome. But the ads will wait till after Christmas.
SIL made supper one night - chicken nuggets - and he put sugar in the breading. It was, um, interesting, and the last time he cooked supper for us. ![]()
Woke stoopit early again, but eventually fell back to sleep for a while. But a bit after 5, I gave up and got up. My first chore for today is a run to Food Lion. The main chore is doing something about the basement. I need to take pics of the table and chairs that I’ll be selling. I need to get the bedding together and out of the way. And I think I need to cull some of the toys that haven’t been touched in a year. And if it warms enough, I may do a little yard work.
Today’s email included the contract for next year at our soon-to-be former marina. It’s almost $1000 more than at the new place!! Definitely glad we’re moving now! Not only that, but they want a deposit on Feb 1 and the balance paid by Mar 1 even tho the rental period starts on Apr 1. Definite signs of financial issue, I do believe. Yep, we done good.
FCD was talking about going to the boat today to start figuring out what remains to be done. But he was complaining about not feeling well yesterday, so I may have to force him to stay home. We shall see how that plays out. Daughter said the kids are doing better, and Roxy informed her that lollipops are good for fevers, and she should know since she wants to be a doctor. ![]()
For now, tho, surfing. Happy Firday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 39 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 64 and partly N.O.S. for the day. This mornin’ we shall head over to the church house where I will take care of various duties and then we will be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. After that we shall go to the burly butcher sto’ to pick up the prime rib roast. Then it will be back to da cave for sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, day drinkin’ and other tasks of a non-productive nature.
Nellie hope by now you are on your way to Spokane. I’ve been through that, so I feel for ya.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe is me!
Happy Firday Y’all!
I’m still at SeaTac. By now I feel I’ve earned resident status. Hereafter, contact me at Some Concourse, Some Gate, SeaTac, WA. Departure time was delayed until 4:00 a.m., and now it’s supposedly going to be 6:30. Delta brought pillows and blankets–not ENOUGH pillows and blankets, mind you, but I was able to grab a set. The place took on the appearance of a first world refugee camp. I slept on the floor for about 45 minutes. I arose at 3:15 because it’s a hike to the restroom, and I figured the plane would board at 3:30. Hahahaha, I’m so funny. The flight has been delayed until 6:30. I am now caffeinating on Delta’s dime and listening to a woman across from me speak in (I think) German. It’s not eavesdropping if you don’t speak the language, is it?
Daughter and SIL finally gave up and went to bed (at my insistence) at 3:00-ish.
I feel grody, and I packed my toothbrush in my checked bag, which I hope to see again someday. Does gargling with hot coffee do anything?
Speaking of German, I had a number of foreign exchange students over the years, many of them from Germany (also Japan, S. Korea, France, Denmark, Italy, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, and Jamaica). Once I had two students from Germany, so I sat them together so they could help each other out. BIG mistake. She told me archly that she was high German, as though it were a social class instead of a dialect. She was also very focused and hard-working, and he sspoke low German and was laid-back. They hissed at each other nonstop in guttural tones, and I finally had to separate them before she killed him.
Someday I’ll have to tell you about the Italian student.
I bet it’s PARTLY for love of you.
Does that work?
What, you got something better to do?
The little airport kiosks that sell books and snacks might have tiny bottles of mouthwash for sale. (If not, they should.)
Hipe you’re finally airborne soon!
I promise I’m going to stop being a thread hog. Departure time is now 7:30 A.M. I will never fly this airlines again if I can help it, and I used to fly it often. They can’t help the fog, but lots of planes were landing in Spokane last night. We couldn’t because, according to one Not Our Pilot they didn’t have both planes and pilots with the capability to fly in fog.
Some people got texts a bit ago saying the gate had been changed back to the original one. Some of us didn’t. Confusion reigns.
Good morning.
It’s wet and soggy outside. It’s 44F with a steady light rain falling. The expected high is 47F, with steady rain in the morning, tapering to showers in the afternoon. There will be areas of patchy fog.
nellie, ugh, how annoying and uncomfortable! I’m so sorry you’ve become a resident of Sea-Tac airport. I hope your flight actually departs this time.
JtC, I am watching my husband do the same exact thing; not feeling well a lot, doesn’t sleep well, doesn’t exercise. I try to get him out for walks, but he won’t even pretend to be interested anymore. It’s frustrating and sad.
I was awake before 3:00 but managed to doze off until just before 4:00 a.m. I heard the pups, so I had to get up and let them out to potty. In the meantime, I wheeled the garbage out to the curb, since it didn’t get taken down last night.
I have a couple of errands to run, puppy blankets, and laundry to wash, and I think that’ll do for today. Sunday, I’ll run the Dyson. I’ve been using my little stick vac almost daily to keep up on the pine needles and stuff, and I run it over the whole downstairs. It does alright, but I need the Dyson for deeper cleaning.
Congrats to the kids on passing their exams, truefish.
nellie, wow, please let us know what airline that is so we can avoid them too, especially if changing gates means taking two trains to get to the other side of the airport. That is just freakin’ annoying. Behaviors such as those you described are why I refused to fly untied. I think if you rearranged the letters a little you’d understand the name of the airline. This is my pet name for them and it fits them to a tee.
I really, really, REALLY hope you’re flying to Spokane today. Maybe they can get you a voucher to a different airline if they delay this time?
Okay, time to finish my coffee. I’d like to get those errands knocked out early today.
I flew through Sea-Tac many times when I lived in Alaska. It was always dirty and crowded, so I tended to try to find the fastest connection when transiting the place. My sympathies.
42F this morning and raining. Supposed to get up to 50 in the next couple of days. A gloomy Christmas to all!
I’ll be starting my green chili stew today, then add the spuds tomorrow before company arrives. I’ll also make the cornbread tomorrow. The wife is going to make her Christmas baba (or babka, if you prefer) today, as well. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
Corporate rarely makes sense in what they plan. “How can we screw with the most peons in the least disruptive way for us, the Elite?”
Congrats on your great-great niece, btw!
JtC, thank you for worrying. I’ll try to be a bit better about stopping in.
And thank you for the hugs. At the moment, this is how I’m feeling. I suspect that I’ll be far less sanguine when the day comes.
These are the kind my MIL has. Well, minus the LED flames. They were old when Hubby and I started dating 22 years ago. But she still has them in her windows.
Don’t forget to text NF!
Nah, they’ll be amused at that phrasing. Actually, I just yelled it out to them while typing and their immediate reply was “cool”.
Re: the Andrew Wakefield thing, I have a copy I can send you the link to. They want the distribution controlled rather than just out on the wider internet, but anyone else that wants to read it, let me know and I’ll DM the link.
I’m actually going to have Hubby and the kids do a majority of it. My job, most years, is just too put the tree together. That is something I can do without too much trouble. And BtY actually likes to help me with it.
Good on ya!
Most definitely! I’m glad you were able to get a more reasonable slip.
I love the thought processes of littles! When BtY was younger, he’d tell us various “facts” (that I wish I could remember now) because he was a boy scientist and when he grew up, he be a man scientist. ![]()
I don’t blame you in the least. Their communication seems to be shot, and it sounds like they don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground. Hopefully they’ll actually get you in the air when they say and they make up their minds where they’re letting you on the plane.
Last night was a rough sleeping night. I’m having a lot of hip and leg pain. I know that it’s, in large part, thanks to my crap mattress but there really isn’t much I can do about it right now. I’m thinking that I need to buy more gummies next month when I have a bit more free cash. It does seem to help more. I suspect I’ll be ordering online instead of buying local partly because, IIRC, the state government is closing the loophole that has made selling in TN possible.
Today is 4x fuel points day at Kroger. Hubby is going to get the last of the ingredients for Christmas dinner. He asked if I wanted to come with and part of me does but I’m thinking with the pain walking around the grocery store isn’t the smart option. Instead I think I’ll direct the kids to get things ready for decorating. Rest is the watch word for today. Right now, however, I’m gonna nap. Have a great Friday, all!
Morning all, a crisp 40F right now and due to get to 62F later in the day. Need to turn on the water to run the dishwasher here in a bit, and do my packing for travel tomorrow. Also hope to get my swimming in, managed to do a full mile on Monday and Wednesday, would like to make it three in a week if possible (especially since I won’t be getting much chance to work out in the next 5 days or so).
nellie, have spent a few nights in airports before, sounds like between the weather and the availability of pilots, things went FUBAR. To bad they just didn’t cancel it until this morning and put you up in a hotel for a few hours, but the airline has all the decision power on this. Hope you make it in today.
Real Fish, good news on the boys passing. CtE’s grades were really good, I’d take those anytime. Best wishes to your Dad.
J-Bats, loved the story about Bob and the pizza. And do report on the…end product…if possible.
Flipper, sorry that you are without work this close to the holidays, but that place is obviously toxic and here’s hoping you can find a better job soon.
Sari, corporate folks have their own agenda that does not correspond with us real folks; hope he enjoy the days off anyway. And congrats on the great-aunt news.
Flyboy, first the bonus and now the gift card…you’re on a roll!
JtC, first FCM then you; what is it with cats and the holidays anyway?
shoe, so no sugar tonight. Hope they taste(d) great.
FCM, good luck with the furniture and the boating.
Need to break fast and then start the dishwasher. Have a good Firday all.
Gum - preferably mint gum. Not perfect, but it helps. And I hope you’re outta there soon!
hahahahahahaha - funny joke!!! I got ya!!!

When TX SIL was visiting, she said late BIL told her “If I knew this would happen…” Yeah, because all those doctors over the years who warned him about his diabetes and such didn’t make the consequences plain… There aren’t big enough rolleyes!
I’ve been to Food Lion - only spent $20.02, but then I really didn’t need much - obviously. Then I drove thru the credit union and got some crisp bills to give to the grands and my niece’s boys for their savings accounts, or whatever. Home now, with the dishwasher sloshing, avoiding the basement for the moment, because I can.
FCD went by Habitat ReStore and scored a cabinet to put MIL’s TV on in place of the 2 end tables that currently have that honor. So the end tables will go back to their designated use. I wonder if he asked them about taking the bedding?? Didn’t think to suggest it.
And FWIW, I haven’t seen the visiting cat in 2 days.
OK, can’t put it off any longer (or shouldn’t put it off any longer!!) So, down the stairs I go!
what on earth??!
good on you for walking away.
Well, that didn’t last long.
Last weekend, we had some really heavy rains, and it led to some water intrusion in our basement. I did not realize till a few minutes ago, that the wet spread to the edge of the queen mattress that was on the carpet that apparently drew water across the floor. Anyway, I moved and flipped the mattress so the wet side was up, then set up a fan to dry the carpet. moving things around left great disarray and I just didn’t want to deal with it. I’ll re-attack next week.
And first item on my list for spring - a french drain along the front wall of the house. Dammit.
Rebellion is in the air. The peasants are glaring at the Bastille. Our departure time is now 11:30 because fog. (The National Weather Service says fog will lift at 9:00.) Last night they moved us to this gate because they overbooked the plane by 20 seats, and the plane at this gate is bigger. Now they’re using that plane for a San Diego flight. They’re not sure there’ll be another plane of this size available, so we may have to trek back to the original gate and a smaller plane. I wonder if we’ll still be overbooked by 20 seats.
The talk on the streets is that Hell-ta, having overbooked such an unbelievably large number of people, is hoping at least 20 of us will rebook. This is bolstered by the fact every text they send suggests maybe we want to rebook.
MetalMouse, because [rhymes with Hell-ta] is claiming it’s the weather, comping lodging was never a possibility. The REAL problem is that Hell-ta doesn’t have the right kind of planes for landing in fog and the pilots to fly them. We know this because the 49th State airline landed 12 flights at Spokane last night and has 8 planes that are NOT delayed heading there this morning. Starbucks sent over coffee and breakfast sandwiches for free, and we have lots of meal vouchers. We’re not hungry. We’re tired.
Taters, I used to be a loyal Hell-Ta passenger. I had a friend who was a mechanic for them, and besides, they were usually the only airline to fly in and out of the little Wyoming airport. Untied really went downhill, too. I’ve been very pleased with the 49th State airline and wish I’d booked with them.
Oo! We just got more meal vouchers! I’m up to 7 or 8 now.
I need to recharge this laptop. Hugs to all.
December 22nd, 1978: Skiing at Lake Tahoe. Blew out my right anterior cruciate ligament, and suffered nerve damage from which I’ve never recovered.
December 22nd, 1979: Car wreck. Lost part of my left patella, and lost the use of my lower-left patellar tendon. Broke my right femur at the knee. The steel bar sets off airport security devices sometimes.
I am not a fan of December 22nd.
Geeze louise! How frustrating. Can you use your meal vouchers for booze? I sure do hope you have a little time left to visit before your flight home.
Afternoon, mumpers! We have made it to Spain despite Mother Nature’s best efforts to stop us. Yesterday’s stormy weather made our trip to the airport much harder than it should have been. The original plan was a train from our home station straight to London then walk down the road to a different station and get a train to the airport.
Instead we got a train from home station to Big City Station which took about 25mins, sat there for a while before they said the train wasn’t going anywhere else. Caught a different service to Reading as an alternative route and ended up in Paddington. Short hop on the tube to Farringdon, then another train to the airport!
Today was much smoother, walked from hotel to terminal, checked in, went to the BA lounge, sipped champagne, got on the plane, sipped more champagne, had a very tasty roast dinner, off plane, through passport control, collected luggage, walked outside got in a taxi and €22 later, we arrived at the hotel. Feet up, cold drink, planning what to do next.
I think imma go into work early & use their phone to call G.C.
Not to get back together, mind you. (I’m not using a work phone to make a booty call!) Matter of fact, I’m really hoping to get his voice mail.
But it bothers me to think that he thinks I’ve been blowing him off, ignoring him, ghosting him … after that argument we had.
Does that make sense, or am I being pathetic? (I do not human very well.)
I don’t wanna get back together, I just want to both have and to provide closure, and explain that my phone’s shut off.
I may let him know my email address, too - it’s the only way we could possibly communicate, since he’s apparently not on FB.
That’s how you do it RIGHT!
