This one actually has sets and props and everything. Done a few operas in concert that usually involve costumes and minimal staging, but this is fully staged. There a stage extension built out to accommodate the actors. Also for the most part the actors don’t sing. There are only two singing roles, one is which is being covered by a chorus member. It’s really just a play, not an opera or musical. That’s what’s really unusual about it.
Pursuant to earlier conversation, I found this at Costco:
It does have some sugar in addition to the honey, but it’s a nice instant base to which pepper and turmeric can be added.
The wife woke up with the dizzies, which happens from time to time. She won’t see a doctor about it, of course. So breakfast was simple fare. I had a croissant with jam, a Yoplait peach, and a cuppa. She’s feeling better now and I made her some scrambled.
A beautiful sunny day in MPLS and will likely get into the 70s at some point. Lots of green and flowers everywhere.
Sadie is crying for her lunch, so duty calls.
It was supposed to stop raining by noon. Then it said 5. Now it says 7.
Rain tomorrow too.
I went to library hoping for the new People and Us. Nope.
The church meal was superb. Glazed meatloaf, coleslaw, scalloped potatos, and strawberries.
I even brought some home.
May as well use my all day bus pass and go to the store. Its so dreary sitting home.
At least I can be around other people.

Another shorthanded Saturday. Not a lot of work for the 100 Table, but the 200 and 300 were slammed. So I spent most of the sort rotating between the 3, Cleanup wasn’t that bad, except I didn’t get started still 10:30, and I got out at 12:30. I stopped and got mint for the Derby julep. Laundry is in the dryer, so it’s naptime.
Also, I need a new wireless mouse, and the scroll wheel is not scrolling. I’m not sure what the number of times it was designed to be yeeted off the table/sat on by a corpulent feline, but it apparently is not more that 75/30.
“People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it’s more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.” - the Tenth Doctor.
Not a drop, the cad.
Sasqubacca!
Yay!
Paid is good.
It’s a great feeling. Which is immediately followed by a snail and email blizzard of “Do you want to go back in debt for another 72 months” car loan offers.
Tea gel?
Finally!!
The attic still needs some fixing where the floor was cut for wire access, but the lights work, so huzzah!!! We’re both beat, and pretty much all I did was hand tools and tidy up after. Oh and I took all the tools and stuff from the clubhouse to our car. It’ll get put away one of these days.
And I was wrong about SIL - they’re keeping him another night - he was severely dehydrated. Always has excuses for why he won’t drink water. The grands are spending the night with their other grandmother. We’re probably going to veg.
I need to figure out supper. What can we get delivered that won’t totally screw up our eating plan? Or can we just say SCREW IT for today? Decisions decisions…
I’s tahred.
That looks great! Tobias like really happy.
Congrats! Boring stuff that pays the bills is still good.
Tobias was especially excited because he got to climb up the ladder and look into the attic! Apparently that’s a big deal because he’s not normally allowed on that ladder. He had a good day!
FCD hates the multi-color scheme Daughter chose, but she was using up leftover paint, and it’s the kids’ clubhouse anyway! They love it because they got to help paint it. And now that all our tools and stuff are out of there, things can get moving on setting it up for the kids.
I ordered Chinese delivery for supper. That takes care of that!
Pretty much. Like loose marmalade (& I suppose marmalade would be another base for the drink). Enough citron peel in it that it should probably have a warning for interaction with blood pressure meds and other drugs, were a person to have it every morning.
First, update on my dad - he did not have a stroke, mini or otherwise. He did, however, have a deep vein thrombosis make its way up from his leg into his head, which is what gave him the headache and affected his vision. So, some extra medication and compression socks and they’ll send him on his way, basically. I gotta say, not to go to deep about it, but that’s what I’ve been struggling with the most lately is seeing my father, who was always the strongest man I’ve ever know in any way you want to look at it, withering away. Not too long ago he was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease, so he’s also on supplemental oxygen as well. Oh he still golfs, but he has to lug that shit around with him. Anyway …
I threw up in my mouth at work today. That’s not as horrible as it sounds. I consider it quite a streak. I’ve worked there for almost nine months and this is the first time I threw up in my mouth. I work doggie daycare and boarding. It’s not the poop or pee - I can handle that all day long - it’s the puke and the saliva. We have this Great Dane who gets tense when crated, so basically we can’t put her in a conventional crate or she’ll hurt herself, so he gets a suite - which is basically a closet with a glass door kind of thing - and she drools the whole time she is in there. I’m not kidding, there has to be two quarts of saliva on the floor after nap-time. Ten rags, a stick and bucket with my eyes closed and it still got to me. Blerk. Macaroni and cheese up the gullet.
And here’s a picture of Donald Trump with MS-13 on his knuckles and another of Barack Obama as the Pope because I’m an AI nerd:
Howdy Y’all! We are awaitin’ the alleged rain. TWPTB are all anytime now, but the sun keeps peekin’ out. In other news, the cake got made along with some brownies. A box of brownie mix fell out of the cabinet as I was grabbin’ the cake mix. It was a sign from above that we needed brownies. Nappage and day drinkin’ were also accomplished. The need to feed today has been via forage. I can’t be expected to bake and prepare meals in the same day!
MOOOOOOM I chop the pee-kahns for icin’ and cookie makeage. If I make a pie the pee-kahns must be whole halves. It’s some kind of southern cookin’ that says thy pee-kahn pies must be made with whole halves. Pieces are sacrilege and southern grannies will haunt you and cause your cast iron to get rusty if you do so.
Afternoon all. Dishes are washed, sweating at the gym is done, and the rain has apparently, after another good downpour, left the area for the time being. Am not planning any further excursions until tomorrow, so readin’, internettin’, and general sloth will occupy the balance of the day. 59F outside and will get down to 51F later, so might need to haul that space heater back out of storage for a quick encore performance.
scrollin’, scrollin’, scrollin’, keep those messages rollin’…
Dicey, happy planting and your mentioning pecan sticky buns makes me think of the new Cinnabon opening close to me…they do pecanbons and I love them so…
Pavo, thanks for the info on Peer Gynt, I have heard it referred to before, but never really know what it was. And yay! on the last car payment; I just got my license renewal information in the mail, the office is only 2.5 miles away so I’ll get my sticker this week sometime.
Oopsie, if I haven’t said it before, thanks for taking the time and effort to be out there keeping the elections fair and trusted. And love that lego.
FCM, I drink too much Pepsi but between that and milk and gatorade I’m keeping hydrated, hope SIL gets the message. And the room obviously has the Tobias Seal of Approval!
J-Bats, glad Dad is doing better, but old age catches up to us all. I can live with dog drool (my niece had a English Mastiff and those suckers can drool), but glad you kept things in place. And I’ll stay out of poly-ticks here in the MMP, but i do think the second picture was well-executed.
swampy, you’re somewhere in the vicinity of Albany, GA, IIRC, so looks like around 8pm you’ll be seeing some precipitation.
Alrighty then, back to sloth mode, Dinner will be late since I snuck some supplemental calories in after my exercise, so have that to look forward to. And probably should unload the dishwasher…sometime…
Take care all.
Could it have been wind born pollen?
If it got that warm, it was warmer there than in middle Tennessee today.
Hugs to you. It sucks to see your parents in decline.
I skipped going to the market today since it stormed all afternoon and I didn’t really want to put myself somewhere on wet linoleum. I did manage to do a half assed bathroom cleaning (didn’t do the tub since Sis was nice enough to give it a thorough scrubbing when she was here) and got a lot done in the studio. I made a pot of Spanish Peasant soup for supper because it was something easy and warm for a cool, rainy day.
Spot and I watched the Derby. “Why do the giant mice run in the mud? What is chasing them?” - Spot Now to putter about till the Avs/Stars game at 8.
Huzzah!
Do they sell Spanish peasants at Kroger?
J_Batts, glad Dad is getting sprung.
Purty! What’s it weigh? Around five hundred? Less? My first bike was a 350 Yamaha and I could lift the back end up one handed if I wanted to squeeze it into dad’s garage. Of course, I was much younger then.
I’ve read forward and agree with you that SIL needs a good wack upside the head or two. Severe dehydration in a young adult is just ridiculous. I’m glad the grands are having a good time in their play room.
I never liked pegs, forward floorboards were more my style. Hubs likes long pegs and it wouldn’t hurt my bank account to buy them for him now, but honestly…I don’t want him to be that comfortable on it. I don’t really want him riding it at all, but it is part of who he is.
I’m OK with ice cream, which drives hubs nutz. I have a half eaten pint of Cherry Garcia in the freezer. It’s been there for months. A half gallon of his ice cream lasts about a week. It just makes him crazy that I can casually ignore ice cream and sweets.
A lb of two year old parm lasts me about a week. I wake up at night remembering that I have one open in the cheese fridge.
We all have our own addictions.
Shen too. I’ve not used either platform, but I know a lot of people really liked getting their disposable fashion from them.
Harley does make pretty bikes. That one is a Heritage. I think we’ve had three others in the past, maybe four. It’s a nice mid-range bike, easy to modify and a fairly smooth ride. I have ordered new pipes for it, this one came with the factory pipes and they are louder than necessary.
Loud pipes do not save lives, and that’s a stoopid saying that gets helps make bikers hated. And that’s all I have to say about that. We like pipes that don’t roar but rumble.
That sounds really good. Congrats on being published again, that’s got to feel so good.
They look very similar to cephalopod eyes.
Which reminded me about the encounter I had driving home yesterday. I have a Miskatonic University sticker on my rear window. It is road repair season. I was driving the speed limit in single lane when the car behind me started flashing its lights. I do not speed in road construction zones, people are working there so I didn’t react.
As soon as the road opened back up, I got in the right lane and light flashing guy got in front of me and slowed down. Then I saw his Cthulhu fish decal and started flashing my lights and honking and waving. He waved at me and then he was gone (I drive slow).
That’s the second cultist I’ve met since we move here.
I was the first one home so I got the brunt of their displeasure. Then Hubs came roaring in and neither of them knew what was going on with that loud thing in their yard.
They will get it figured out. Back when we were doing rescue, we used to do a lot of fostering and all of the fuzzbutts came to expect that the sound of Harley’s coming into the yard meant treats and cuddles. Cat loving bikers tend to have cat loving bikers as friends and we would encourage everyone to come over and pet the kittens when we had them.
Then they would go to adoptions at a pet supply store at a big shopping center. You could always tell “our” cats because they were the ones who got excited when they heard the Harleys slowly driving by.
I’m now thinkin’ I’d like the recipe. Please.
I spent years teaching my lips to curl up instead of staying straight while I was concentrating. Now it is habit to mentally check my expression and adjust as needed.
Oh my gosh! It’s like you were right there!!!
In AZ, where it rarely rains, I put a catnip plant in a pot and put the pot on flagstones that had been laid on the river rock landscaping. Two years later, that damn mint had managed to migrate across the yard (150 ft) to the posy planters and almost defeated the 4 O’clocks.
Playing around in the studio on a wet day sounds like a great way to spend your time. Does Nelson get naggy about having cabin fever if you don’t take him to the park?
Mom on the phone, back later.
A nice calm weekend. The usual Saturday. Clickity wowed some new people.
Last week I held on to one of the old lobby chairs for the winner. today it went into his flat. It looks so much better in his flat than mine.
Then cleaning and tidying until sneezing started.
Clouds are starting to gather for storms tonight.
I had forgotten how much scrapes hurt. Especially when the scrape is on a very bendy part.
I hope things go well with sil fcm.
389.5 pounds dry, 423 pounds wet. 152 hp. Supposedly, it will do 170 mph.
We have rumbles of thunder and big scary storm cloud with cloud to cloud lightening. I’m moving way from the windows.
Snuggle time with the cats on the couch.
