(Old) You Get A Gold Star In The MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 82 and cloudy with rain or maybe not. TWPTB are all willy-nilly about the forecast. No real big plans for the day, so we shall be our usual RDOS sloth selves as is our wont. Sup will be sketties ‘n meatballs, sallit and cheesey garlic bread.

In the last MMP shoe completed several chores and was waitin’ expectantly for a gold star. You done good shoe so you deserve seveeal gold stars. :glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star: How bout an even dozen gold :glowing_star:!

OK, who else deserves a gold :glowing_star:? Feel free to give ‘em out. Give yourself a gold :glowing_star:. Gold :glowing_star::glowing_star::glowing_star: for everyone I say!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Hi! Didn’t we all like those gold stars on our homework?

I deserve one for waking before my alarm and getting dressed right away. HVAC guy called just after 7 to say he was on his way. My alarm was set for 7, so I might have missed his call while brushing my toofies. Instead, I’m ready for him to get here. Go me!

Also from the last MMP:

VanGo - you sound like FCD regarding the shop organization and labeling. Unfortunately, when he’s working, he just sets tools and supplies down, then has to search when he needs them again, and by the time he’s done, the shop looks like a hurricane came thru. When I’m assisting him with tasks, I make an effort to keep things together for him.

MetalMouse - the kids had a blast painting. Roxy actually did well for a 7-y/o. Tobias had fun. Daughter ended up with 2 kids who had paint in their hair. They may remain blue and green for a while - I don’t know what it takes to remove dried latex. Not my circus, yanno.

There was someone else I wanted to respond to, but I’m too lazy to wade thru the last couple of dozen posts, so my words of wisdom are forever lost.

I woke to 41° - Dang!!! I can’t fire up the pellet stove because it’s being cleaned this morning. I’m not turning on the furnace till the HVAC guy checks out the fan (shortly) so it’s 66° in the house - brrrrrr! I need to empty the dishwasher, then start refilling it. I’ll bring in the mesh panels that I scrubbed 2 days ago and I’ll make an effort to do the sewing I was going to do 2 days ago. I need to run to Aldi, but I might put that off till tomorrow. I don’t know.

And the HVAC guy is here in the basement - hope it’s a quick and simple fix, and hope I don’t have to pay since I suspect the guys who serviced it last month goofed it up. We shall see.

So it begins. Happy Moanday!!!

Well, it looks like our household poltergeist infected the furnace and thermostat. For some reason, the thermostat was set to control a gas furnace (ours is oil) and the cutoff time when the burner stops was only 30 seconds instead of 2-3 minutes as it should have been. The tech says those are things they don’t touch during normal service. I know they didn’t touch the thermostat - they didn’t come upstairs at all. No clue about the actual furnace. But we’ve been with this company for years, so I’m still inclined to trust them. So far.

Once he’s gone, I’ll get the house heating up - it’s way too chilly in here for almost-May. Stoopit weather.

Awake again after 4 hrs. Probably would’ve slept longer except for the rattle-bang of the trash truck - I was dead-ass asleep.

Ah, well.

Now after bio-break, I’m enjoying some leisurely lolling in bed while Monkey enjoys the morning sunshine.
Plan so far is to have some (more!) nibbles, a nice smoke, then hopefully go the hell back to sleep!

Thank you kindly, this was a lovely start to my morning!

Up but not at 'em quite yet. Sadie woke me up demanding to be fed, and interrupted a pleasant dream. Now she’s asleep in her tower and I have to resist the urge to go over and start meowing at her.

Speaking of Sadie, there was a weird incident late last night when she suddenly woke up and starting meowing in what I can only describe as a panic. I calmed her down and she went back to sleep curled up next to me. My wife sometimes snores and I wonder if cats can sense sleep issues in humans.

We’re supposed to get some violent weather later today, with heavy rain starting soon. Hopefully we don’t lose power this time around.

Mornin’ all. Just droppin’ by to say Hi!

Been a busy week of GF-ing with GF and I expect this upcoming week will be too. Other than that it’s been (and I expect will be) RDOS-to-the-max. Not sure any of that deserves any gold stars.

We’re in the season where leaving the house fully opened up overnight bottoms out a bit cool for my tastes, but sooo fresh. Yaay! Then promptly after sunrise it’s AC time until late afternoon or dusk. I also have a massive eastern exposure, so dawn on a clear day happens with a real bang & the sun is quickly heating the large glass expanse with my small space just behind it.

Cheers all and good luck with the weekly doin’s great and small.

I deserve my gold star. I’ve never had sex with a man.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 19c/66f with a predicted high of 20c/68f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s mild and fucking overcast outside. Maybe you should stay inside and pay your fucking bills.” It’s sunny and very nice out there, but I do have a bill to pay so I shall do that.

We had gold stars at the infants and primary schools (age 4-11). When I went to the big grammar school, we were divided into Houses and instead of gold stars, we got house points.

I do still get gold stars at work which is a nice touch as I think we all deserve them for the amount of stupid we have to deal with. Today I have explained to a professor the concept of a spreadsheet filter because he complained the sheet wasn’t working and he couldn’t see his dissertation list. Now I’ve got another icky dissertation question to find an answer for, could take a bit longer and be a bit more complicated.

Yes, today I am back at irk but it’s a home day so that’s softened the blow a little bit. So far I’ve tended to the cats, been out to put a load of recycling in the biiiiig bin ready for tomorrow, been to the supermarket to do the grocery shopping, given the cats some lunch, had something myself, and this afternoon I plan to put a load of laundry in the machine.

'im indoors is on his way back from Scotland so he’s hoping I will be kind enough to pick him up from the station. I can do that, might have to go via the petrol station as the car’s low on fuel and I need a full tank for the weekend.

Right…off to drink tea and contemplate the dissertation mystery!

Hurrah for being under warranty! No charge for today’s service. The furnace seems to be working fine, so we’ll see how the circulate function works. Meanwhile, the house is no longer chilly. Now I just need for the pellet stove guy to show up. Then I can hit Aldi’s.

Dishwasher is empty. FCD has left for Daughter’s to finish their a/c installation. I had a good sleep last night, but despite caffeine, I still feel a tad draggy. And so it goes…

the cardio continues today. back in the office there are boxes of files to go to archive. my plan is to get this pile out so i can start getting boxes back for shredding.

i do enjoy shredding.

egg bagel with butter and cream cheese for breakies. i’m thinking kielbasa and pierogies for lunch. in the shopping/food thing attached to our building we have “the pierogi place”. nice hand made pierogies, they just added kielbasa to the menu so i will give it a try.

i’m sure my plan to get the storage bins out of my flat and into the storage unit will fall to procrastination yet again.

If you are a hetero female, I beg to differ. But thats a whole other thread.

Morning all. Slept reasonably well last night and am looking at a fairly busy day today (the Moanday 5-S’s—shop-sammich-swim-sauna-soccer plus 3pm weight training). Heading to 86F today so very glad I decided to mow the lawn last night instead of waiting.

Big event this week is the HVAC guys coming out this Thursday to put in more insulation, I doubt it will affect my bills enough to justify the cost, but it will hopefully make the house more resaleable in a few years when look to move. Like FCM they say they will be here early, so need to set the alarm so i wake up before it as usual.

As for gold stars, coaching soccer should earn me some, although one of my 6 year old players gave me a beaded necklace (gave them to all his teammates) for reasons unknown so I have gotten some rewards.

FCM, free service under warranty is always a nice way to start the week; hope it behaves itself now.

cookie, wonder if cats have nightmares/PDST…and hope the power stays on.

boo fae, you’d hope the stupid would be somewhat lower in a university setting, but it’s not. Hang in there.

And onward into the week. Have a good one all.

My gold star for the day should be hauling my butt out of bed. It’s a hurty kind of day so far, but I’m hoping that the warming weather helps some.

I need to check in with our absence line in a few minutes, then go to the store for some more soft treats for Nelson (wouldn’t want to run out of his gold stars, now, would we?).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Bit of a marathon week again, although not nearly as daunting as holy week. It’s a week of makeup lessons, juries (final performance evaluations) and rehearsals. Symphony concert this weekend, so two extra rehearsals, then performances Saturday and Sunday.

Gonna grab one more cup of coffee, then once more unto the breach.

I just turned off the furnace and opened the windows. It’s 67F out there, rising to78. Mrs. Nott is outside, trying to figure out the weed killer thing, for the stuff growing in the driveway seams. At the old house, we had a weed dragon, fed by propane, but I guess it didn’t move with us.

I’m gonna post this, while it’s still Monday Morning.

I think I have the self-injectors thing straightened out. (Knocks frantically on wood.) The agent at the insurance co.'s pharmacy said he’d overnight them at their expense. I may have made it sound like I’d keel over without the shots–telling someone I’d itch like hell wouldn’t convince anyone. Someone has to sign for them. I left a message at the allergist’s office, as they keep some odd hours. I was supposed to get taught how to use the self-injectors, but there isn’t time to schedule anything. I’ve used auto-injectors before and have been trained in using Epi-Pens, so I just need to find out where to inject. I think someone said the stomach.

JtC, re: cataracts, I may hold the record for lens surgeries (5? 6?), but that’s because of eye issues you don’t and won’t have. (You can only get cataracts once. The other times were to try to correct my vision for other reasons.) I got IV sedation for all of them, but it wasn’t like the sedation for a colonoscopy. I was still awake but verrrry relaxed. (Think Jerry Garcia, 1967 version.) You’ll love it. I think everyone gets nervous beforehand, even without your history, but it really is a piece of cake with no scary parts. Oh, and you don’t just get numbing drops; they slather numbing goop on your eye. You’ll be Comfortably Numb. And you’ll be so glad you had it done!

And THIS is why we elected you president–not of the US, I’m sorry to say (very, VERY sorry), but of Mumperland. Here to welcome you are the Lollipop Guild…Oh. I understand the Guild is sleeping off last night’s shenanigans, but they’ll be along later.

I used to put stickers on exams/essays/projects that earned As. This was high school. Those kids salivated over stickers. “Bruh, you got a STICKER? I missed it by one point! Hey, Ms. Bly, can I get a sticker and owe you a point?” Once I used scratch-n-sniff stickers, and war practically broke out. Teens is weird.

They’re right in fashion, then. Did they even want the paint out of their hair?

Welcome to my world…

Oops. Not my world after all.

Somehow I read that as “Meryl Streep weather.” I guess that would be weather that does a superb job of sunniness, hurricanes, floods, wind, and gentle breezes.

Oh, please don’t resist the urge! And record it. I’d pay to watch that.

I’m sure your new GF disagrees.

You get extra gold stars for paying a bill on a sunny day.

Oo! Watch out! Those are babe magnets, especially if they’re the little plastic beads in Day-Glo colors.

red, I sure hope the hurt diminishes to zero. Here, take my gold star. (I awarded it to myself for no good reason.) Gold star people should have neither aches nor pains.

Hey, it’s still morning here in the Pacific time zone, so you’re good.

The usual Monday stuff. But the building didn’t burn down while I was gone.

Cats dream, maybe it was a nightmare.

We don’t get anything any more, but at least we’re not at the “The Beating Will Continue Until Morale Improves” stage. Yet.

Spot gets ice cubes as his gold stars.

Wait - did I miss an election? I thought he was the designated decorator and wardrobe consultant because of his faaaaaaaabulous taste. Why didn’t I get the memo??

Pellet stove is cleaned, painted (to hide some surface corrosion) and working like a champ. So when it gets cold again, we’re ready. Yay! I messaged FCD to see if he wanted any help but he didn’t respond, which means he’s busy or napping or getting drunk… Since Aldi is down that way, I may swing by and see what’s going on.

Dishwasher has been emptied and refilling has begun - I’ve been sorta productive. That must count for at least half a star.

Sorry about your goalie, and hope he’s not badly hurt. That guy who ran into him (and didn’t even get a penalty, grr) better watch his back in the next game. I’m happy for you that your Canes are playing so well. I’m a Stars fan and our guys have one amazingly good game followed by an amazingly terrible game, rinse and repeat. Not sure my old heart will take much more. If/when we are eliminated I’ll be a Canes fan.
